I had no clue what I was doing at the start of my lifting journey. Absolutely nothing. Itโs crazy to think what consistent training 3-4 times a week on weights over the last 8+ years has done to my body shape and mindset. Not every year was the same, but I was coached throughout most of them. Coached and educated on l what intensity to push on sessions, how to scale back or challenge different movements for what I needed at the time. How to train around injuries, periods and how to prepare for a strength competition. Most people are NOT broken or fragile. Instead they have what I call a capacity issue. The human body is an amazing thing. It adapts to its environment and the stressors placed on it (assuming they arenโt too high). The problem is most humans arenโt under productive levels of stress each day. From a physical standpoint many people ask very little of their bodies daily. For some the hardest activity done each day is standing up from their office chair at work. Itโs no wonder that sitting and standing up feel like garbage. Itโs the hardest task their bodies are doing each day. From a mental standpoint most of us are inundated with mental and emotional stress. ๐๐๐ Pumpkins are deliciously colourful and fairly low in carbs. This brightly-coloured and hearty soup has both sweet and spicy tones and is perfect for warming the soul on crisp, chilly days. Ingredients: ๐ 2 tbsp butter ๐ 1 white onion, chopped ๐ 110 g spring onions, chopped ๐ 850 g pumpkins, cubed ๐ 1.5 L water ๐ 2ยฝ tsp salt ๐ 125 ml heavy whipping cream ๐ 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated ๐ 2 tbsp orange zest ๐ 2 tsp fresh coriander, chopped (optional) Instructions: 1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the white onion and sautรฉ until it becomes translucent, and then stir in the spring onions, frying lightly. 2. Add the pumpkin and the water to the pot. Bring to a boil, and then reduce to medium-low, simmering uncovered for 20 minutes. 3. When the pumpkin becomes soft, use an immersion blender, or transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend, until smooth. 4. Return the mixture to the pot and stir in the salt and cream. Cook for 5 more minutes. 5. Remove the pot from the heat, and add the grated ginger and orange zest. 6. Serve piping hot and garnish with coriander leaves (optional).
