I had no clue what I was doing at the start of my lifting journey. Absolutely nothing. Itโ€™s crazy to think what consistent training 3-4 times a week on weights over the last 8+ years has done to my body shape and mindset. Not every year was the same, but I was coached throughout most of them. Coached and educated on l what intensity to push on sessions, how to scale back or challenge different movements for what I needed at the time. How to train around injuries, periods and how to prepare for a strength competition. The only time you should look back is to see how far youโ€™ve come โœŒ๐Ÿผ . Then: 39 years old. Chronic Anemia. Chronic Migraines. Diagnosed Obese. Early stages of Hypertension. Zero energy, lethargic, uncomfortable in her own skin. . Now: 51 years old (almost 52!) No longer Anemic or considered obese. Migraines reduced from 2x a week to less than 2x a year. Most people are NOT broken or fragile. Instead they have what I call a capacity issue. The human body is an amazing thing. It adapts to its environment and the stressors placed on it (assuming they arenโ€™t too high). The problem is most humans arenโ€™t under productive levels of stress each day. From a physical standpoint many people ask very little of their bodies daily. For some the hardest activity done each day is standing up from their office chair at work. Itโ€™s no wonder that sitting and standing up feel like garbage. Itโ€™s the hardest task their bodies are doing each day. From a mental standpoint most of us are inundated with mental and emotional stress. Now that we are living longer worries like retirement, social status, and other problems are forefront in our brains. Scientifically regular activity can help with these issues in a few ways. Doing hard things for a short period each week raises the bodies capacity for stress making every day tasks easier. Springing up from your office chair is easier when you can squat your bodyweight for reps. All the hormones released during exercise are good for mental health, happiness, sleep, etc. For many hitting the weights for an hour can be a great way to take a break from all those life stressors. The truth is, we as humans are a lot stronger than we think. Our bodies only feel like theyโ€™re breaking down because we donโ€™t do hard things anymore. Life is better when you feel strong. Youโ€™re not broken.

Each day you push past an excuse, you build BELIEF in yourself. A warm bed. A sore muscle. Only having 15 mins of free time to yourself today. A soccer game after work. Your toe hurts. ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ Pumpkins are deliciously colourful and fairly low in carbs. This brightly-coloured and hearty soup has both sweet and spicy tones and is perfect for warming the soul on crisp, chilly days. Ingredients: ๐ŸŽƒ 2 tbsp butter ๐ŸŽƒ 1 white onion, chopped ๐ŸŽƒ 110 g spring onions, chopped ๐ŸŽƒ 850 g pumpkins, cubed ๐ŸŽƒ 1.5 L water ๐ŸŽƒ 2ยฝ tsp salt ๐ŸŽƒ 125 ml heavy whipping cream ๐ŸŽƒ 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated ๐ŸŽƒ 2 tbsp orange zest ๐ŸŽƒ 2 tsp fresh coriander, chopped (optional) Instructions: 1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the white onion and sautรฉ until it becomes translucent, and then stir in the spring onions, frying lightly. 2. Add the pumpkin and the water to the pot. Bring to a boil, and then reduce to medium-low, simmering uncovered for 20 minutes. 3. When the pumpkin becomes soft, use an immersion blender, or transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend, until smooth. 4. Return the mixture to the pot and stir in the salt and cream. Cook for 5 more minutes. 5. Remove the pot from the heat, and add the grated ginger and orange zest. 6. Serve piping hot and garnish with coriander leaves (optional).
