Tomato tunnel currently under reconstruction ready for this year’s plants. The cover was ripped to shreds by the wind at the end of last year. The new cover has been attached and just needs a bit of trimming. The plan is to make some borders and the wood is currently being propped up in place until they are constructed. Then it’ll be a good tidy up and it’ll be ready to go when the plants are. Testing out the new wheels this evening, we opted for a wagon trailer rather than a wheelbarrow. This way, I can ferry the kids about the allotment, and it will also come in handy for our trips to the beach this summer ☀️ We are also super lucky that our allotment has tons of free woodchipping 🪵 for people to use. My first crop of pomegranates!!! I've had a plant in a pit for about 4 years, last year we managed to find a spot in the ground for it. And then the flowers finally turned into fruit!!!! Now Mr google Said they can take upto 6 months to ripen and I couldn't remember when they fruited so decided to leave them on the plant longer......then yesterday or today they split.......but I think there are plenty of seeds I can salvage. My kitchen always looks like a massacre has taken place when I de seed pomegranates😂 I'm excited to see what I get!! Het was een productief weekend! De bodem is onkruidvrij en vertroeteld met compost van @bio.kultura en de bodemverbeteraars van @grnfix. De eerste groenten zijn gezaaid: veldsla en vroege spinazie. Ennnn mijn eerste tipi en klimrek staan🥳 De tweede tipi zet ik er neer als de kolen in bloei hebben gestaan en eruit gaan. Dit jaar wordt een jaar met veel experimenten. Ik ga nog meer groenten kriskras door elkaar zetten (polycultuur dus). Zo komt er geen apart kolenveldje meer, maar komen ze net zoals andere forse groenten en kruiden waaronder snijbiet, paksoi en dille verspreid door de hele moestuin te staan. Een apart pluktuinvak is er ook niet meer. De dahlia’s, cosmea en andere plukbloemen komen net zoals de Afrikaantjes, goudsbloem en O-I kers tussen alle groenten te staan 🥦🌸🧄🥕🪻🥬🌻🧅 Ook ga ik meer laten klimmen, zoals de pompoen en de courgette, om ruimte te besparen.
