DO’s & DON’TS when doing the bikini back pose❌✅ . ❌DO NOT stand strait up and down. This will do absolutely nothing for your shape. ⏳ ❌DO NOT squat in your knees in your back pose. This just looks downright awkward😬 ✅DO arch your low back while still keeping your chest tall. Think of having a slight anterior pelvic tilt here. The arch will help to lift and pop your glutes, creating more conditioning and fullness in them. . General cues I like to give my clients when learning the back pose: ◾️Think of having the letter “C” in your low back. ◾️Keep your chest nice and open/tall to avoid leaning forward too much. ◾️Soft knees. Do not lock out your knees completely/hyper extend, however, do not visibly bend. Think “soft knees.” ◾️Do not flex your glutes. The arch in your back will provide the lift and pop that you need to showcase the hard earned muscle and shape in your glutes. . Performing the back pose properly does require a good bit of mobility. If you’re not stretching/practicing routine back mobility, your back pose will definitely suffer. My favorite things to do to help with low back flexibility/mobility ➡️ using a YOGA wheel daily! & incorporating the seal 🦭 stretch into my stretching routine. I also like to routinely foam roll my back to keep things less stiff! . When I came home for the semester I had a moment with myself where I felt like I had lost a bit of the passion I had for this sport. In my first training session back (I was hitting legs surprise🥴) I read those quotes in the second slide and knew it was time for me to reflect a bit… I think when you want to “get to the top” of whatever it is you’re doing, you have to realize that someone else is always going to want it as bad, if not more than you. However it’s your responsibility to find your “why” for doing it- this is individual to you, it’s reflected in your work, it sets you apart. Here we are, (grey matter 😌🤞🏻) training has been disgustingly productive (in the best way lol). ✨💪🏽Client Spotlight: Nelly @j_nelly_s 💪🏽✨ #fitdollsbymuneca Lifestyle Client I’m so PROUD of my client Nelly! When we started, she had no experience with weight training or nutrition. She was my beginner of beginners, with no gym experience at all. Nelly set a clear goal, and while it’s common to lose motivation, she stayed determined. During our training sessions, I often had to show her exercises up to five times before she could perform them correctly. Despite the initial struggle, she came back and practiced the difficult exercises on her own. I provided Nelly with a tailored program, and she followed it about 100% of the time. On the rare occasions she didn’t, she was honest about it during her weekly check-ins, noting any deviations from the plan. ‼️CLIENT TRANSFORMATION‼️ from our bikini babe Kristal! 🩷 @kristalsfitlife @kristal.1916 first-time bikini competitor and mom of 3 boys 🤯 Kristal finally made her dream of stepping on stage come true. Kristal is a HARD gainer, and has an extremely fast metabolism. This can be a positive thing, but can also make it extremely difficult to build and retain lean mass, especially when dieting for a contest. In the peak of Kristal’s surplus, we had her eating over 2,500 calories/day, with 350g+ of carbs! And never even dropped below 1,700 calories. We had a few setbacks and delays to our original plan, but Kristal never lost her focus nor her faith 💪🏼 she pushed through every obstacle to prove to herself and her boys that we can achieve ANYTHING we set our minds to! Kristal even took away some hardware at her first show with a 5th place medal in her true novice class! 🏅🥳 our feedback? I did something yesterday that I didn’t feel ready for. To be completely honest, it scared the crap out of me. My heart was beating 2x faster than normal, my body temperature was rising, and I felt sick to my stomach. But I did it anyway. And I’m so glad I did. Because if I would’ve waited until I felt “ready”, I would’ve been waiting forever. “Ready” is a lie we tell ourselves, and it’s the main reason you’re stuck. I have been building this body for 12 years, which is insane to me! I started out being overweight, then doing a ton of cardio and eating more clean to lose 85lbs. Then the regulars at the gym took me under their wings and showed me how to lift weights. I thought “WOW this is way more fun than Cardio!” That’s where my strength journey began. I enjoyed pushing myself and feeling strong. Years go by and my goals were ever changing; from PR’s, to maintaining my physique, to just having fun in the gym with friends. I decided to do a WBFF bikini competition to say “I did it”. I was clueless and wasn’t satisfied so I did another one. I wasn’t in the best head space or stage in my life , but I did it anyways. Goals changed again and I was training for performance purposes and I wanted to run a mile and a half in a certain amount of time 🙄. That wasn’t fun for me, but I did it! Fast forward to almost two years ago to a back injury which had me on the couch for a long time. I still can’t do some things I was able to do and my low back is in constant annoying pain. But fitness is a huge part of my life and I refuse to let that define my life so here we are! 2-3 weeks out from my first NPC bikini competition. I’m so thankful and grateful for everyone who has been with me for parts of, or all of my journey. I also have the best team and coaches pushing me to my limits. I am surprised I was able to cut down the fluff this time and still keep so much muscle that I’ve worked so hard for. It’s still crunch time though, just a couple weeks left to get stage lean and dry out. Stage Lean vs Off Season Body Image Problems It doesn't matter how lean you get, if you have bad body image at 20% body fat, you will have bad body image at 10% body fat. Getting leaner doesn't solve those body image issues at the root. Learning to love your body at all stages is critical to making progress. Learn the root causes of why you pick yourself apart. Do some self work, and watch how you can flourish in so many different parts of your life.
