When I began cold plunging a few years ago, I was struggling severely with depression and mood swings. I was trying anything to feel relief. When other things weren’t working, I’d go back to the cold water and start over. In May of this year, I made a couple huge realizations: First, I was severely over-medicated on my SSRI and had been for quite some time. I’ve been on an SSRI since I was 9 years old (when I was diagnosed with anxiety/OCD/Tourette’s), and somewhere along the 23 years of taking them I got to the point where I didn’t need them at the high-levels that I used to. But nobody helped me make that connection, so I just kept taking them. In May I began a slow, hyperbolic taper to lower my dose (this is not a recommendation for others, just my story). Second, I ran bloodwork through Blokes (link in my bio) only to find that I had testosterone and DHEA deficiencies and thyroid issues. I was clueless that these hormone imbalances could directly impact my mood and mental health. I began supplementing to get these levels back into optimal ranges. Within two weeks, I began feeling dramatically better. It almost seemed too good to be true, but it continued to improve week after week. It was like a weight lifted off my chest. But every so often, I still have a bad day. And instead of immediately going into “diagnosis mode,” I’ve been gently reminding myself that I can’t feel perfect all of the time. Some days are just harder than others. I share all this in hopes that someone else out there will realize it’s okay to have a bad day, even when you seem to be doing everything right. I had a puppy who died October 2021. It was a hard pill to swallow. When I did some investigation, I found that the breeder Big Red Texas German Shepherd Ranch, had sold me a sick puppy. So after months and months of searching for a lawyer I found someone. I thought it was a sign from God. That I would finally get justice for Mia. Instead after months the Lawyer was dragging their feet…actually for over two years. When I couldn’t pay $1000 more into my retainer despite still having close to $300 in the retainer, one of the named lawyers resorted to threats. According to him, they needed to “pay the rent”. Shockingly, but not so shockingly. I just got notice, that the company is dissolving. Tell me God can’t turn things around for your good!!! I don’t take pleasure in seeing the enemy being destroyed. I take pleasure in seeing God work his power over the enemy. This company said they needed my money to pay the rent. Boyyy, did they mean that literally 😂 They got $4500 out of me, before I got smart. They were dragging their feet and clearly for a reason.
