How to End a Love Story is heartbreaking and beautifully written. From the beginning I was sucked into the story. There are moments in this story that have stuck with me because the writing vividly portrays the emotions. Helen and Grant are tied together by the death of Helen’s sister in high school. They graduate and go their separate ways only to be brought together 13 years later to work on Helen’s book turned TV show. I loved most of the characters throughout the story, especially the female main character. I loved reading Helen’s growth throughout the story as she navigates a complicated relationship with her parents and is still working through her grief. My only dislike is the male main character. There is just something about him I didn’t care for and I did almost stop reading, but it was worth finishing. Check TW. It deals with suicide and death of a sibling. This is Yulin Kuang’s debut novel. #botm #howtoendalovestory #debutnovel #mayreads #2024readinggoals #2024reads #pennandpaper #bookreview #currentreads #bookstagram #2024newrelease #aprilnewreleasebooks #readingfromthebacklist #readingfrommytbrpile #lovestory #romancegenre

Working my way through some of my TBR pile. Storms and Secrets was a bit darker than I expected, but still a good read! I think I’m just used to Claire Kingsley’s rom-coms, but this romantic suspense still had elements from her that love! The Lost Girls of Devon has me hooked and I can’t wait to finish the last third and find out what happens! 📚 💕 👍 #currentlyreading #whatchareadingwednesday #currentreads #stormsandsecrets #clairekingsley #thelostgirlsofdevon #barbaraoneal #seacastle #andrewmayne #readingfrommytbrpile #tbrpilereads #whatareyoureadingwednesday

***Book review*** One of the aspects of King's writing that I've always enjoyed the most are the tangents he goes off on. It's a talent in and of itself to get that far away from the original story and then flawlessly weave back into it. This book, although more of a novella, is no exception. As much as I hate to admit it, I almost enjoyed the side stories more than the main one. But the end, the last three chapters, pulled everything together and brought the book from a 3 star to a 4. The original 3 star that I had in mind had nothing to do with the writing or the characters, it was a simple case of the story itself not being for me. The ending turned it around.  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookreview #thebody #readingchallenge #readingfrommytbrpile #allthebooks #readabook #readingcommunity #booksmakemehappy #booksbooksbooks #reader #readingaddict #bookstagramza #booksarelife #bookcover #bookstyle #stephenking #novella #readersofinsta #readmorebooks #bookishlove

***Book review*** Part of me feels like I shouldn't publicly admit just how much I loved this book. I know the book is controversial (don't judge me) but triggers and extremes aside, it is extremely well-written. I loved Adeline. She's fiesty, funny, and smart (even though her actions don't always show it). So many lines in the book made me laugh out loud and Adeline's inner monologue reminded me so much of myself. Zade is an interesting character, a villain and a hero wrapped up in one and you can't decide whether you should kill him or fall in love. If you have any triggers at all, you should stay far away from this book. But if you don't, I highly recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookreview #hauntingadeline #readingchallenge #ebook #readersofinsta #bookishcommunity #fivestarread #bookstagramza #booksmakemehappy #booksofig #booklovers #darkromance #readerscommunity #readingislife #readingfrommytbrpile #readreadread #bookishphotography #booksofinstagram #booksandchill #catandmouse

I finished the audio version of This is How it Always Is by Laurie Frankel last week. Thank you, @libby.app! I have long been a fan of compelling family dramas and this one did not disappoint. I also appreciated how the heaviness of the secrets at the core of the story was nicely balanced with lighthearted and relatable family experiences. I think what truly engaged me in this novel was the fact that the Walsh-Adam's family could have been any number of families I know in real life. The audio narration was very well done. And, I was also a big fan of the story within the story. I would read a whole book about Grumwald and Princess Stephanie. I am making good progress with my goal of trying to read through some of the books on my TBR the longest. This book came highly recommended to me by one of my book club friends and I'm so glad I finally got around to it. 📚Book Review 8 for 2023 Ah Elizabeth Strout you never fail me! This is from the Strout backlist, in fact this was her very first published novel, Amy and Isabelle. While it’s different to the other novels I’ve read being more plot driven it’s still Strout’s distinctive style underneath. As always, Strout manages to capture the essence of her characters, both the main ones and an eclectic collection of secondary characters. In this novel she also delves into the complexities of mother/daughter relationships and the trials of being a teenage girl. #mysummerwithstrout #amyandisabelle #elizabethstrout #backlistbooks #reading #tbr #readingfrommytbrpile #bookworm #bookstagram #auskiwibooksta #auskiwibookstagram #ausbookstagram

• Happy Saturday, bookish loves! It’s been a crazy busy first week back to school! Shew! So, a few people tagged me in the #23booksin2023 challenge, so I’ve put together a quick pile. It took a shamefully short period of time to pick 23 books I already had and want to read lol. I challenged a few friends. Please excuse me if you challenged me and I forgot, lol. Also, if I didn’t tag you and this sounds fun, please join in! 🙏 And of course tag me; I want to see what everyone wants to tackle this year. So, I’m currently listening to Bitter Orange by Claire Fuller for my #gothicghoulsbookclub and it’s a bit slow currently, but I’m told it picks up. I’m also nearing the finish line of my full ACOTAR re-read. After I finish ACOSF, I plan to pick up my first book from this pile, The Ten Thousand Doors of January - seems like an appropriate month to read it simply based on the title lol. I had planned to do a favorites of 2022 but getting the vid after Christmas kind of ruined any new year type posts lol. I was thinking maybe I’d do a reel. I have to be honest, upon review I read quite a few 5 star reads in 2022. I’ve gotten to the point of book vetting and DNFing that I don’t read any below 3 and rarely any below 4, haha. 🤷‍♀️ QOTD: Did you set any reading goals like this or a books to read goal or anything like this? Tell me all about it! I’m here for all the #readingchallenges ! AOTD: I plan to do this challenge and have set a reading goal of 85 books. I told that to one of my kiddos at school this week and his 12 yo eyeballs comically and cartoon-style popped out of his head. He’s a bit of ham but it was hilarious nonetheless, because the shock was real. 👀🤣 #tbr #tbrpile #readingfrommytbrpile #bookstagram #2023reading #2023readingchallenge #thetenthousanddoorsofjanuary #alixharrow #thestarlesssea #erinmorgenstern #onedarkwindow #rachelgillig #hester #laurielicoalbanese #emilywildesencyclopaediaoffaeries #heatherfawcett #belladonna #spellsforforgetting #beastsofextraordinarycircumstance #thistlefoot #afireendless #thegirlwhofellbeneaththesea #thebookeaters #thehacienda #shadowsong #lakesedge #forestfall

A reading goal I have this year is to read more from my TBR piles. Yes, piles. I have several physical TBR stacks around the house, an Amazon list, and my Goodreads list. Another goal of mine is to read MORE for pleasure and less for a challenge. I’ve truly enjoyed the reading challenges I’ve done over the last few years, but I always pressure myself to complete them, which, kind of makes reading a chore instead of for fun. Thus my TBR challenge is for books I’ve actively marked as interesting and is only two a month so I can dig into other pleasure reading. If you love reading challenges I’ve seen a few that look fun to participate in. I put them all up on my blog! ☑️ 📚 🔎 #2023TBRPilechallenge #2023tbr #2023tbrpile #tbrpile #tbr #tbrbooks #tbrscavengerhunt #lovewhatyouread #readmorebooks #readmore #bookstagram #bookchallenge #januaryreadingchallenge #januarybookchallenge #readingfrommytbrpile #booklover #lovetoread #bookhoarder

📖 🖊 Book Review! Okay, I didn't have time to write a proper review after I finished this one, like I usually do, but here are my thoughts! What I Liked: - interesting concept - side characters were great additions to the story, both ones we saw a lot of, and one that were sprinkled in - I enjoyed the decade references and casual way the author threw in language and slang in different time periods - the writing flowed well and was easy to not get hung up on the time travel "inconsistencies" I had a hard time connecting to the the main character, but otherwise this was an enjoyable read! I think it was a nice one to curl up on the couch with. Have you read it? Finished reading: 8/13/22 Rating: ⭐️⭐️ This book was a huge disappointment. I almost didn't finish it but kept going to give it a fair shot. The main characters had no depth and the plot was weak. 2 Mini Mystery Reviews! After seeing Kelsie's four mini thriller reviews yesterday, I knew this was the answer I was looking for! I struggle to write reviews for authors I've already reviewed and read a lot of books by because I don't have much to add to my previous comments. So here are my quick thoughts: If you haven't picked up a Lisa Gardner or David Baldacci book, but you like mysterious, suspenseful reads, you're missing out! Fear Nothing: Gardner has a way of creating and holding suspense throughout a book! She leaves you guessing and trying to figure out the solution. In this specific book, I did guess the ending, but the story was still suspenseful and kept me captivated cover to cover! This is part of a series, but I haven't read any of them in order and it doesn't impact the book at all, which I love! Saving Faith: I've owned this one for a while but didn't pick it up because I really like Baldacci's different series and this was a standalone, but wow! I'm sad I waited so long! I loved these characters! Baldacci writes great spy books with a focus on the CIA and undercover mysteries, but this had more of a PI focus (still CIA, but slightly different than his others) and I loved it! Lee Adam's was a great character to follow through this quick, suspenseful, mystery. I was hooked from the first page, like usual, and enjoyed it to the end! Are you a fan of Gardner or Baldacci? Let me know what you've read by them and your thoughts! #lisagardner #fearnothing #davidbaldacci #savingfaith #davidbaldaccibooks #mysterybooks #mystery #suspensefulreads #booksirecommend #bookiread #bookrec #bookrecommendation #bookrecommendations #booksibought #tbrlist #tbr #readingfrommytbrpile #julyreads #bookishthoughts #bookish #bookreviews #bookreviewersofinstagram #books #bookthoughts #bookreviewer #indigobookstore #indigobooks #canadianreviewer #canadianbookstagram #bookstgram

Happy February #bookstagram It’s time to announce the #bookstabestietbrchallenge prompt for the month!! 💕 February is the month of love and while we enjoy a great romcom this month, we recognize that not everyone reads them. So we have decided to let @goodreads “choose” our book this month. This month we are challenging you to read the book on your TBR that has the MOST love on Goodreads. In other words the book you own, and have not read, that has the highest rating. I really enjoyed this prompt as it sort of took the choosing out of my hands and I’m so excited for the book I’m going to read. *swipe to see my pick* And remember to use the #bookstabestietbrchallenge and tag me and @chrissykata_bibliophile to be included in our giveaway draw each month. This giveaway is open to Canadian or US participants only. This is not affiliated with Instagram or Amazon. Feel free to use the templates in my highlights to share your picks in your stories. Q: Which book on your TBR has the most Goodreads LOVE?

Maggie O’Farrell is on of those authors I’ve been meaning to read for years. I finally did after receiving a copy of Instructions for a Heatwave in a @thewildbookbox subscription box last year. I knew I was going to love it and I really did!! O’Farrell writes exquisite, complex, flawed but authentic characters. Told over three days (but with lots of backstory) and in alternating perspectives, there’s a sort of unravelling of the story like trying to untangle Christmas lights. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on it, the knot tightens and you need to tackle it from a different string. It’s sublime. Now to delve into her other works. #instructionsforaheatwave #maggieofarrell #thewildbookbox #beachreading #holidayreading #tbr #tbrpile #readingfrommybookshelf #readingfrommytbrpile

Hello everyone and hope you’re well. I’m back from my holiday and looking forward to catching up with everything you’ve been up to. This #stacksaturday I’m revealing five books on my TBR this month chosen for me by my sister @chrissireads one from each bookshelf. Book 64...A Children’s Bible by Lydia Millet. This novel is shortlisted for the National Book Award for Fiction. This one really worked for me. I read it in no time and I thought it was quite witty. The plot was pretty inventive in its set up. Great portrayal of role reversals for the two generations and I found it engrossing from page one. The writing was funny but at the same time this deep, sad truth was lurking there. I was entertained but also frightened of what could happen in our world if the “carefree attitudes” that the parent group displays becomes how everyone treats important topics like global warning. And here is the younger generation maybe not quite equipped to handle these huge issues but by golly....they gave their best to come up with a solution! You could really break down this little book and have a great discussion because I think each person who reads this would gleam something different from it. Some fun fall reads 🍁👻🏊‍♀️🏫 I have already consumed both #victoriaschwab books they were delightful 5⭐ for sure. So much so that I ordered the special eddition owlcrate box! The Broken Girls is another read by an author I enjoyed recently. Love trying out authors and finding. It's been a slow start but I ❤ where it is going. The Night Swim is #botm book that I really hope I get to either this month or next. It is definitely intriguing. #bookstagram #septemberreads #fallreading #thriller #ghoststories #iseedeadpeople #repeatauthor #newfavoriteauthor #readingfrommytbrpile #over100reads

Today was a fun day or listening and reading. I am working my way through Matilda and loving it. Almost all Ronald Dahl books I have read this year have been 5 stars. Its wonderful how close the movie is to the book. Picture brought you by the need to bring my dog to the vet for a lyme booster 🤣🤣🤣 #bookstagram #childrensliterature #classicbooks #ronalddahl #bookstomovies #matilda #funreads #septemberreads #readingfrommytbrpile #readinggoals

TBR for August! I finally picked up The Final Girls and realized it's due 08/05 and I cant renew. So I decided to start it tonight. I am confident I can get through it by the due date as Riley Sager is my favorite thriller author so far. These books are mostly powered by the facebook group #thebookdemocracy and my book tic tac toe board for this month and also @literallydeadclub book Home Before Dark. #augusttbr #readingoals #readingfrommytbrpile #childhoodmoviefavorite #bookstomovies #classics #vampirebook #catchinguponmyreading #bookstagram

Currently reading this little 💎 on my #kindlepaperwhite and ❤ it. I can see why this is a favorite of young readers. While I have managed to see all the current 📽 Some how the 📚 have escaped me. Anyone else excited for the new movie? Not sure when it is to be released but its #nostalgia that gets me everytime. #kindle #ebooks #kindlefree #youngadultliterature #yabooks #bookstomovies #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #julytbr #readingfrommytbrpile #theprincessdiaries #nostalgiareading #popsugar2020challange #thebookdemocracy

🎧 Finally completing this series today. So far I enjoy this book the most. I may just give ACOTAR a try this year. Not sure if faerie stories are for me but I am willing to try them from another writer. Thrillers might be where I land in the genre of books I enjoy the most. Which is strange because I love fantasy. It might just be because I havent found the right fantasy books for myself this year. #faeriebooks #booksbooksbooks #audiobook #libbyapp #holidayweekendreading #goals #finishingatrilogy #hollyblack #bookstagram #thebookdemocracy #readingfrommytbrpile #julytbr #queenofnothing

Book 4...Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney. After reading Normal People (which I LOVED) I knew I wanted to read anything else she has written. I did not think this novel started as strong as #normalpeople and felt I had to push through it at the beginning. However, once finished I liked it enough to know that whatever Sally Rooney writes next...I will be the first one to buy it. The main thing is how she writes this continuous train of thoughts and it works. I did feel similarities in the characters in this book with “Normal People” in regards to how feeling power was accomplished, abuse, love, and control. If you have not read Sally Rooney yet...I would recommend starting with Normal people first. But I still think Sally Rooney is an author who will only get better with time and I so look forward to her next book. #conversationswithfriends #sallyrooney #hogarthbooks #bookreview #amazingwriter #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #alwaysreading #readingfrommytbrpile #readwhatyouown #book4of2020 #carolinehoppereads

The reasons why I decided not to buy any books this year. Swipe left to see them all. On my bookshelves I have 135 (plus few more I’ve missed) unread books. Add to this 62 unread e-books on my e-reader and you’ll see reading material for the next two years. And I have an e-book subscription with Legimi, which means I have access to about 60k ebooks. And there’s public library if it wasn’t enough. I may need to do less instascrolling and less Netflix binge watching and read much more. Maybe I’ll be allowed to buy books next year then. 📚 #bookpile #bookpiles #tbrpile #tbrpost #readingfrommybookshelf #readingfrommytbrpile #bookstagram #igreads #bookworm #booklover #bookaddict #readinglife #thegoodgram #littlestoriesofmylife #storiesofmylife #onthetable #booksofinstagram #książki #stosyksiążek #książkidoprzeczytania #czytam #igczyta #bookstagrampl #polskibookstagram #mólksiążkowy #instaksiążka #książkoholik #czytamzwłasnejpółki #niekupujęksiążek #instabookstagram

Book 58...The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner. This is also my 2nd book for #nonfictionnovember this month. This book is mind boggling. It reads like fiction as you cannot fathom the conditions these children live in and the situations/events that take place. I am in awe at the author’s resilience, bravery, and perseverance to make it out of an unbelievable life of pure hell into what seems like a “normal” life. As I cried when I read those last pages, I thought about all the children who do grow up just like Ruth but maybe do not make it out. 💔😢 Even though the story is heartbreaking, it is also full of hope. Highly recommend but warn that there is a ton of abuse/neglect if you are unable to read those topics. 📚 #bookstagram #bookstgrammer #booksofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookreview #bookrecommendations #nonficnov #nonfiction #truestory #thesoundofgravel #ruthwariner #carolinehoppereads #book58of2019 #bookworm #alwaysreading #booksbooksbooks #readingfrommytbrpile

577 pages - never mind the quality, feel the width! Although I’m hoping for some quality too. I tend to avoid very long books as I do a lot of reading in my ‘day job’, but I’ve had this on my shelves for a while, looking reproachfully at me, so I’m going in. I may be some time. #fridayreads #elizabethjanehoward #cazaletchronicles #thelightyears #readingfrommybookshelf #readingfrommytbrpile

I love all the great books I hear about on #bookstagram I read #84charingcrossroad because everyone raved about it and I was not disappointed. Now, I am reading the sequel and I love revisiting Helene as she travels to London finally. It is great to visit a city through the eyes of someone who appreciates history and great literature. Would definitely recommend these 2 books. #theduchessofbloomsburystreet #helenehanff #london #booksaboutbooks #letterwriting #diaries #librarybooks #readinggoals #readingfrommytbrpile #curlupwithagoodbook #bookandnature
