REVIEW - Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham - 4⭐️ This book was a cute royalty romance that was an unexpected find for me. It is the third book in a series but can totally be read as a standalone. This book gave me a huge Prince and Me movie vibe when I listened to it, and I think it might be a reason why I liked it even more because that movie was my childhood. Luke is a grumpy introverted carpenter who can’t stand anything romantic. He travels to the island of Skamar to help with some restoration work and has a very unpleasant meeting in a coffee shop with Ally, a princess of Skamarian Islands, who tries to find her own feet in royal adult life and right her past mistakes. Aliana escapes to the secluded mountains to take charge of the orphanage’s renovations and when she learns that Luke is the one that was hired to do the construction working she decides to hide her royal identity, trying to enjoy the anonymous life and the fact that for once someone treats her like a real person. And Luke himself ends up intertwined with all the romantic and cheesy romance tropes he was trying so hard to avoid. I genuinely liked the relationship and dynamics between them. I also appreciated the fact that when the identity reveal happened, there was no silly miscommunication that I hate so much. He took this as an adult without an ugly drama. I loved their fishing and tree climbing moments and how they both encouraged each other to be their best selves. I also loved that while Luke was this sarcastic and grumpy man, he had this soft spot for children around him and was always so patient and supportive with his family, no matter how annoying his sisters were. And their sibling banter was great! It's a sweet and heartwarming romance book that fills you with coziness, laughter, and hope. Also, a perfect fit for the fans of Hallmark movies – there were a lot of references, which I would have appreciated much more if I were a fan of those movies. My only complaint would probably be the fact that I would want to have more of their background histories instead of those little glimpses we get. Hey Everyone💛 TWO DAYS TO GO for Polin season!!! 🌼 I had to post about The Bridgerton series because nothing can express how impatient and excited I am for the release of this WAY TOO LONG-AWAITED season ! Bridgerton has to be one of my most favored book series & TV-Show! I read all 9 books since more than a year ago, binged S1 & S2 like 3-4 times each and I’m still not tired of it. ( tho i am not a TV person at all- can’t wait to put my TV back on after weeks!! For S3 !!!!!) They were filled with all kinds of the anecdotes and curious trivia that I enjoy. Lucky for me we now have some of him other books at the library and I brought them home with me. Ocker’s book brought lesser known ones to my attention- hello Gloucester Gjoul of Rhode Island. I loved this trip into the world of cryptozoology. It slowly takes us through the journey of personal trials and triumphs and adventures of the character giving us enough insights on their mind. I like how the friendship bond is portrayed in this book. We get to see dynamic character sketches, but most of all, the characters don't feel woody and lifeless, giving readers access to the immersed inner workings of the characters' minds. However, while the character development excels, the narrative suffers from predictability and occasional plot drag, disrupting its overall flow. In terms of writing quality, "The Chosen Warrior of Rregnos" proves engaging despite sporadic plot drags. The writing style is commendable, though the narrative could benefit from trimming down the excess plots, which would have reduced the page count by few. Nonetheless, epic fantasy readers can give this book a try.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price - Holly Jackson ❤️🔥 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 I loveeeee a Holly Jackson thriller i do. This was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I was hooked from the blurb, not even page 1. I knew instantly that i was gonna love this and i so did. This book follows Bel Price whose mom (Rachel Price) went missing sixteen years ago, only now whilst filming a documentary on her disappearance, she reappears, causing uproar and confusion. Everything about this storyline was so so good and i think it had so many unique implementations, like the filming of the documentary and the twists throughout the story; which btw are SO good and i didn’t expect them. I saw so many similarities between Bel and Pip from AGGGTM, i think they’re both such strong female main characters and they both have this sassy side to them which i love. It makes me think because they’re so similar, has Holly included some of her personality traits into both characters as they’re so similar?? Did anyone think this aswell? The only thing that annoyed me a bit about this book and it’s very minor don’t worry, was the fact that Rachel kept calling Bel, Anna. Her full name is Annabel and i understand she used to call her Anna before she disappeared, but i was like omg she’s told you how many times now, pls get it right 😭 Anyway, apart from that, this was the best thriller i’ve read in a hot minute, and i highly highly recommend it if u love AGGGTM!!✨ Also, i had to include the red top, if u know u know 🤭❤️

PLS READ TO FIND OUT BECAUSE WHAT A FUN RIDE second chance romances are always tricky ones for me for one of two reasons: either the reason behind the initial breakup is too stupid or they just shouldn’t be getting back together in the first place here, dare i say, it was kind of both? and yet it worked? at least it did for me! because i could understand that their perhaps stupid reasons were stupid to me not them (which is thanks to good characterization) and i can understand that it’s a reason that can actually change so getting back tgt didn’t feel wrong either! more important than anything, i laughed. i truly did, right on the first page! the side plots were developed there was a proper denouement we have dual povs and dual timelines the only things that dont give it a 5 star is a) personal attachment and b) their inner thoughts were sometimes drastically different to what the other pov was seeing which made their attraction less believable and their break up more believable (but second half adresses that a bit) all in all, so fun! and im v excited to be currently reading an arc of julie soto’s next release (and we already have a ama/elliott cameo!!!) have you read this? who else is in their silly-goody-reads-bc-school-killed-me phase?

But it does help to schedule out my reading time and I can plan for having a sweet treat or making tea and have a cozy little moment with the book 😊 However, last week, I had the a very strong urge to just finish a book and all my current reads are over 400 pages, so at like 10pm I scrolled through Libby and lo and behold, two Heartstopper novellas were available and waiting for me to binge them. Which I did, and man, I get couples have rough periods, especially teenage couples, but did Alice Oseman really have to do that to us in Nick and Charlie 🥺 I also read This Winter, which has all the cute moments, then followed it up with the miscommunication trope that is Nick and Charlie and so I think my heart hurt extra and more than it would have normally 😅 But it was fun to be back in the Heartstopper universe again, and I can’t wait for season 3! 🥰 #nickandcharlie #heartstopper #aliceoseman

Today I’m part of a book tour🥳🎉 . Someone Somewhere by Debbie Baldwin Thank you @katerockbooktours and @debbiebaldwinbooks for having me on the tour and the gorgeous book I’ve been dying for! . Miles Buchanan has built a life for himself as a fixer. He has things figured out and doesn’t need anyone. Clara Gautreau is a distraction that he does not need. But he DID promise her father he would look out for her. And Clara tends to get herself into interesting situations because Clara is a thief. . Someone Somewhere is book number 6 in the Bishop Security series but can also be read as a standalone. I have read the books in order and I recommend going in order to get the most out of the series. I did not realize we were getting Miles’ story next but oh goodness do I love Miles. His story is so heartbreaking and I LOVE his relationship with his brother. 🥹 Clara was a fiesty little handful and I immediately wanted to be her bestie. I adored her back story and her drive to right wrongs. She was so smart with her extracurricular activities too! There were some reveals at the end that were a lot of fun, but really I enjoyed every single minute of this book. Now the waiting game starts for me until the next one. 😔 . 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 The Bishop Security series is about found family. These are people who value each other and will always protect their own. The suspense always has me invested and the relationships always have me swooning. . Hola cuerdos lectores! 🦄🫶 Por fin os puedo dejar por aquí mi opinión sobre "La puerta de los traidores", de Jeffrey Archer y editado por @harpercollinsiberica a los que agradezco el envío del ejemplar. ✏️¿Sabéis esa sensación cuando un libro no termina de "despegar" como te esperabas? Pues eso es lo que me ha pasado con este libro. Quizá también sea por hacerme más expectativas y no leerlo en el momento adecuado para mi. Pero aún con esto, hay cosas muy positivas del libro. ✏️ Si te gustan los thriller que se cuecen a fuego lento, saboreándolo, este es para ti. ✏️ Una vez al año, hay que cruzar Londres con las joyas de la Corona para la apertura del Parlamento. Algo no estaba en la estrategia que sigue la policía, ¿saldrá bien? ✏️ Los personajes están muy bien construidos y entrelazados entre ellos. Algo que parecía que iba con armonía acaba con una venganza que termina por complicar la trama. ✏️ Este libro es un thriller con algún momento histórico para explicar algunas situaciones, dos géneros que a mi me gustan y son mi zona de confort. Pero en esta ocasión se me ha hecho lento y me sacaba de la lectura, necesitaba más acción. ✏️Se podría haber sacado un poco más de "jugo" a la trama, esa acción frenética en los trhiller con giros que no esperas. ✏️ Es verdad que hay libros anteriores con los mismos protagonistas, pero se puede leer por separado. Así que si os apetece leer un libro de thriller más pausado con notas históricas, lleno de venganza, este libro es para vosotros. ¿Habéis leído algo de este autor?

After just a few chapters I could completely understand why it is popular enough to still be going. I really enjoyed What Cannot be Said and suspect every book in the series is equally good. I want to read more! -The ending to this book was really excellent. I do but I noticed the other day that my mum doesn't, and now I need to know the general consensus on this👀 Firstly, I want to give the biggest s/o to @moonlightpages for introducing me to this author!!! I still have yet to read Three Holidays and a Wedding because I'm saving it for the holiday season, but the other three were easily 5 star reads for me. They're stories that centre Muslim women navigating relationships, self discovery, society and so much more. Uzma writes about religion beautifully, and she balances lovely romances (including banter!!!) with serious conversations so well. I fell in love with literally every single element of these books - the writing style, the characters, the story lines, UGH YOU GUYSSSS they are so good, please just go and read them😭. I don't think this caption does the books justice by any means, but I really want you all to experience them to the fullest for yourselves, so I'm going to cut myself off here before I give anything away. I've put the synopsises in slides 2-5, I hope you all have a lovely day or night and read Uzma Jalaluddin's books as I promise your life WILL be better if you do :)

Seaside Summer indeed - certainly the kind I’m dreaming of!! We have six weeks left with students at my school (5 of classes and 1 of assessments) and then Teacher Week before break! May and early June always feel like running a marathon, while dehydrated, with ten plates in your hands, your hair in your face, and the crowd asking “could you just also do this one thing?!”. If you had a magic attic, what would you hope to find there? I would want a Mary Poppins style bookshelf that just seems to hold endless amounts of books. . The Husbands by Holly Gramazio . When Lauren returns home from a girl’s night to find a strange man in her apartment she finds an unexpected development with her attic. The strange man says he’s her husband. When the husband goes to the attic a new husband comes down. . What I liked: -I love a good off the wall synopsis. “A magical attic that gives you a different husband every time”? Sign me up. -This story was very entertaining and kept me reading page after page. I loved comparing Lauren’s story to how a person would react to this in real life. -There was some great humor in this book and some developments that I did not expect. . 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I found this book wildly entertaining, however the ending was a bit abrupt and flat. Another great book by Emily St. John Mandel! Once again, she’s doing what she does best: different timelines, none linear story telling and different perspectives that are eventually connected in a fascinating way. I went into this book without knowing anything about the plot, and that was the best decision because it was so cool trying to figure out what was the thread that connected these people. My favorite chapter i think was „the last book tour on earth“. We follow an author while she’s touring for her novel that is about a pandemic, and I’d like to think that maybe Emily St. John Mandel based this character at least partly of herself. I just found her thoughts so fascinating.. it felt like the book was self reflecting which in turn leads the writer to self reflect as well. I gave this book 4/5 stars because I thought it was lacking something I can’t put my finger on. 💌r e v i e w 💌 Way to get me obsessed with penpals again Kristina! Letter writing in any format is one of my favorite types of meet-cutes. It’s so unrealistic but the way I eat it up every time makes me giddy at the idea of fate lining up just so. This story is wonderfully crafted, although there is a slight miscommunication trope, it’s not a stupid “just TALK” vibe, but an actual realistic reason behind the why of delaying the relationship. I understood both sides of the stories and could even see them not working out (scandalous, I know!). Which is why I believe it’s such a pinnacle of a well written story—when you see the humanity and the realism in relationships and wish both parties the best, whether that’s together (my personal goal) or apart. BOOK REVIEW "The Ottomans", Marc David Baer My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Goodreads Average Rating: 3.97 This book was a perfect companion on my recent visit to Istanbul. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the Ottomans, and visiting mosques, palaces, and neighbourhoods of the city with their historical associations and rulers’ histories fresh in my mind. I found the text accessible, well-organised, and interesting. Baer does a particularly good job of helping the reader understand the various interest groups in the endless struggle for power and dominance: the role of the janissaries and of the deviant dervishes is particularly fascinating. One complaint, however, is that Baer doesn't always get the balance of materiel right in his narrative. In particular, he spends far too much time (in multiple sections of the book) on the centrality of pederasty in Ottoman culture. Further, while the role of women here is interestingly juxtaposed against other contemporaneous cultures, I wish he'd given more attention to some of the more interesting female characters, such as Roxelana.
