Book Review Well yall it's time for another book review! The Girl in Red by Christina Henry I had zero expectations for this book! I randomly grabbed it from the library, and then a few friends said it was worth reading, so I gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did! It was a good read. Quick and engaging read. I liked the characters, especially the supporting ones that got introduced towards the latter half of the book! The story line was well done and kept me wanting more the whole time. I had alternating story lines, which I can struggle with. But it was well done and it was easy to keep them separate and not lose track of where I was in the story. Overall, a good read! I enjoyed it and will check out what else this author has. Definitely recommend to those who like post-apocalyptic worlds. Although I will say this hit pretty close to home with Covid so just keep that in mind! Happy Monday yall! What are you currently reading?

⭐️ BOOK REVIEW ⭐️ EMPIRE OF THE DAMNED By Jay Kristoff ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was one of my most heavily anticipated reads of the year and I had seriously high hopes for it, Empire of the Vampire was one of the books I read in 2022 that made me want to join Bookstagram I loved it that much, it fact I was reading our library copy over a few days when it was seriously quiet during the holiday season & a student borrowed it when I was away from the desk when I only had 75 pages left, I ended up buying it on kindle so I could finish reading it on my phone because I just had to know what happened. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Empire of the Damned pick up right where Empire of the Vampire left off and honestly thats about all I can say with out ruining the entire plot of book one which I don’t want to do for anyone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I flat out loved it, all your favourite characters are there even some you maybe though you had said good bye to forever, in a slightly different form which if you know what I’m talking about OMG I was so happy to see them & I loved how that happened so much that whole storyline was so perfect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved Dior so much the relationship between them & Gabriel is one of my favourite part so of the whole book story and this book just cemented what I loved about them & ripped my heart out repaired it and ruined it all over again. I loved the scribe and how much more we got to see of him and the workings of house Chastain in this book particularly his interactions with a certain sibling in a dungeon it was a wonderful contrast to his conversations with Gabriel, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved this a lot it was the perfect follow up to Empire of the Vampire & I can’t wait to read the third book amazing full on dark fantasy vampire read ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #empireofthedamned #jaykristoff #harpercollins #horrorbookreview #horrorbookreviewer #horrorbookreviews #horrorbookreviewers #bookreview #bookreviewing #bookreviewers #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookreviewsofinstagram #bookreviews #bookreviewsaustralia #bookreviewersofig #horrorreader #horrorreaders #horrorreadersofinstagram #horrorreadersofig #horrorreadersofigunite #horrorreadersforlife #horrorliterature

🐕 John Dies at the End by Jason Pargin 🐕 Fave Quotes (there were SO many, this is a very quotable book 🤣) ~ Frank kept seeing things awful things and over the months all the king’s doctors and all the king’s pills couldn’t make Frank’s waking nightmares go away. ~ And so, feeling like men trying to work a jigsaw puzzle blindfolded and using only our butt cheeks to grip the pieces, we left. My thoughts ~ This was the most wonderfully unhinged thing I have ever read. I’ve never read something that made laugh out loud, while simultaneously creeping me the F out. I initially thought I’d hate the character of John, but as David says repeatedly throughout, it’s so hard not to love him once you’ve spent some time with him. And now that it’s over I can’t tell if I’ve gone mad, or if the things John says actually make sense. I can’t wait to go watch the movie now and I really can’t wait to read the next book. Recommend for anyone who wants something that’s simultaneously heavy on the horror, gruesome weird details, and the perfect amount of dick jokes. 5 out of 5 ghosts! 👻👻👻👻👻 . . #johndiesattheend #jasonpargin #horror #comedy #horrorcomedy #horrorbooks #horrorreader #insanity #unhinged #fivestars #bookrecommendations #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #booklover #bookhoardersunited #paperback #readoutside #koipond #backyardoasis #readmorebooks #readingtime #readinglist #readingaddict #bookstagram

I am once again posting from my favorite place to read ‼️🏊‼️🏊‼️🏊‼️🏊📖🗣️ This weekend I finished Henry, Henry and Crom Crauch (heavily enjoyed both!) so now I’m trying to decide what to read next. All of these are for challenges I’ve joined on StoryGraph but, I’m leaning towards starting Forever Children bc of the mindless goofs I feel it’ll deliver— much needed after the heavy themes I delved into the past couple of days. I have 4 (FOUR!!) work days until summer break starts so it’s safe to say island time is in full swing. I hope ya’ll are reading in the sun!!!!! “The only words I had to describe you in those early days were plunging cliffside or primordial sea, crystal-cold stars or black expanse of sky.” A dying peasant girl is saved by an angel… or perhaps the devil himself. Her name is stripped from her being and by her savior, she is christened Constanta. Constanta is led to live a life of eternal luxury, married to the man who saved her, forever indebted to him, and always agreeable. When centuries later her husband introduces new lovers into their fold, Constanta finds herself falling in more ways than one.🩸 This is the most luscious, luxurious, seductive, decadent, scandalous book I’ve ever read. Every word, every sentence is dripping with a perfumed oil. I cannot believe how well written, properly plotted, and tantalizingly paced this narrative is. I’m drooling just thinking about it.🩸 I loved these characters. All of them. Even the awful unnamed husband. I loved their dynamic, the push and pull of their entwined relationships, their reliance on each other, and their loyalty battling with their learned helplessness. I wish for there to be a second book and then another and then another all with this wonderful cast so I may read more of their lives. 🥹 Soooo very romantic, I want to continue to live vicariously!!! 🖤 For fans of luscious, pillowy yet boldly bloody vampire tales, you will not be disappointed with A Dowry of Blood. It is so deserving of the hype and I can only hope this story grows into something hauntingly marvelous from here. 👑🩸

“When I get up, the black hole hovers in front of me, a shimmering overlay on my world. It’s tiny, a little disturbance in my vision, a whisper of a place where the air doesn’t sit right.” L’appel du vide is the “call of the void” in French, that evil nagging thought in your head when you’re driving on a mountain road that says maybe you should go over the edge, just to see what it’s like. 🩸The Indian Lake Trilogy🩸 • 2022➡️2023➡️2024 • Exactly 2 years ago, I started “My Heart is A Chainsaw” by @stephengrahamjones for the first time, and exactly one year ago, I started reading “Don’t Fear The Reaper;” and now, on the same date of May 18th, I’m in the first few chapters of “The Angel of Indian Lake”. And here are the first pics I took of these reads. The first is from 2022 and you can see the rest. Each year, I’ve read a book in this trilogy, I took a similar photo to commemorate my reading. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2024 📚: 28 Nestlings by Nat Cassidy First off, I loved the horror aspects of this book. The story was super intriguing, and while I didn’t end up being especially scared at any point (though I don’t scare easily with books), it had some really bizarre and unhinged things going on, and I found myself frequently making weird, grossed out, and/or shocked faces while reading, so that was lots of fun 😅😊 However, this book felt like more than just a story, but not in a good way. There was definitely a tone of the author trying to make a point. And honestly it was kind of annoying me. I loved the story, and I wanted only the story. On top of that I didn’t really like any of the characters, and there was a little bit of an undercurrent of nihilism throughout which I really can’t stand. I never got to the point where I actively disliked the book, but by the end I was pretty ready to be done. But when I read the author’s note at the end it all made a bit more sense. I won’t get into what it says here, but it helped me understand where he was coming from and why he wrote the book the way he did, and that redeemed it a bit for me. Without that it probably would have gotten three stars instead of four. I definitely would recommend it to horror fans, but it’s probably a bit too intense for anyone who’s a sensitive reader or new to horror.

I’m obsessed with both editions of one of my favorite horror books. It is on the shorter side (under 200 pages), so it would be an easy afternoon read. It is one of the scariest stories of possession that I have read in the past few years. Synopsis: A recurrent, unidentifiable noise in her apartment. A memo to her boss that’s replaced by obscene insults. Amanda - a successful architect in a happy marriage - finds her life going off kilter by degrees. She starts smoking again, and one night for no reason, without even the knowledge that she’s doing it, she burns her husband with a cigarette. At night she dreams of a beautiful woman with pointed teeth on the shore of a blood-red sea. #horrorreads #horrorreader #horrorbooks #tbr #gothic #thriller #thrillerbooks #bookrecommendations #coffeeandcurrentlyreading

BOOK REVIEW: * ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 * * It Came from the Woods was such a fun read! The premise is, a group of friends take a camping trip in the woods to search for Big Foot 😳 It’s a combination of many different sub-genres of horror including found footage and creatures. It was very entertaining, creepy, and I enjoyed the humor throughout the story. 😁📽️

𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄, 𝘊.𝘑. 𝘓𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ American Rapture, C.J. Leede’s STUNNING sophomore novel, is hands down the best book I have read this year. In a world ravaged by viruses, fires, monstrous storms, and the shambling, lustful dead, one terror stands out above the rest: the Christian Right. (But we all knew that, didn’t we?) In a post-COVID America, this apocalyptic horror novel feels chillingly plausible. If Maeve Fly, Leede’s debut, was loud, this is even louder, practically begging to be heard. Every former Christian likely recalls the one thing that shattered their faith - a moment, a comment, a story that prompted a complete reevaluation - I certainly can. Witnessing it unfold for Sophie, our protagonist, in real-time is overwhelming, painfully familiar, a descent into absolute terror. The world tilts on its axis. The notion that this very question could constitute one’s greatest sin, their downfall, is profound. It’s a heavy burden to bear. Yet, Leede navigates us through it with a depth only those who’ve experienced it can comprehend. That’s why I placed my complete trust in her narrative. This book teems with potential triggers lurking in every chapter, and while I’d typically proceed with caution, I devoured this one hungrily. From the outset, it feels like being trapped in a pressure cooker. The tension steadily mounts until you’re fully immersed. It’s a terrifying, grisly, electrifying, sorrowful, hopeful, introspective, tender, and tragic journey. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Thank you @netgalley and @tornightfire for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review! And thank you @ceejthemoment for putting up with my fangirling - I hope you’re ready for more. 😅 American Rapture will be available on October 15, 2024. Don’t miss it!

🦖BOOK REVIEW🦖 The Nothing That Is by Kyle Winkler @bleakhousing [cosmic horror] This book is like nothing I’ve ever read. It’s mind blowing, curious, deep, and fascinating. There were moments my stomach churned, I got goosebumps, and the tension was palpable between the pages. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I honestly had no idea what to expect from one sentence to the next. It’s genuinely a mind boggling book and a hell of a ride through! It read as if your cool Uncle Cade is telling you a story from way back when. Your eyes are locked until he begins to sip his beer, looking to the bonfire, and he takes you along to the hellscape of a memory. The ONLY reason I took off a star is because of the depth in which Cade questions all of life and humanity. The meaning of life is a concept he struggles with down to a molecular level. The last bit of it was an exhausting mental exercise for me. BUT that is my own problem/experience. Everyone’s brain is different. It’s definitely one you won’t see coming. I will forever recommend this book for cosmic horror fans! If you’re just dipping your toes into cosmic horror, like I was, buckle tf up!

« 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒔. » This story was horrifyingly sad. The cold truth behind these words is disturbing, yet so important and real. Helen obsession with her appearance and thinness, her inner struggle, the way she sees the world, how society and people contributed to push her into the darkness, knowingly or not, until she completely abandoned herself into her obsession, everything felt true in a terrifying sense. Some books don’t need to be extreme to torment you. This one was probably the hardest book I’ve ever read. As someone who has struggle with eating disorder and body dysmorphia in my life, this story felt very personal. This book is exceptional. No matter how hard it was to read it, it is masterpiece. #book #bookish #bookstagram #horrorbook #horrorbookstagram #horrorreads #horrorreader #bookreview #kindle #readerofinstagram #bookworm #booksbooksbooks

Life is getting in the way of all the reading I want to do, so I have to be a little bit more selective. I’ve heard raves about The Night Guest, and at a little over 200 pages, it should be a quick read. Have you read this? Synopsis: Hildur Knutsdottir’s The Night Guest is an eerie and ensnaring story set in contemporary Reykjavík that’s sure to keep you awake at night. Iðunn is in yet another doctor’s office. She knows her constant fatigue is a sign that something’s not right, but practitioners dismiss her symptoms and blood tests haven’t revealed any cause. When she talks to friends and family about it, the refrain is the same ― have you tried eating better? exercising more? establishing a nighttime routine? She tries to follow their advice, buying everything from vitamins to sleeping pills to a step-counting watch. Nothing helps. Until one night Iðunn falls asleep with the watch on, and wakes up to find she’s walked over 40,000 steps in the night . . . What is happening when she’s asleep? Why is she waking up with increasingly disturbing injuries? And why won’t anyone believe her? #horrorreads #horrorreader #horrorbooks #tbr #gothic #thriller #thrillerbooks #bookrecommendations #coffeeandcurrentlyreading

The Night Guest - Hildur Knútsdóttir 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Iðunn has been experiencing constant fatigue. No matter how much she sleeps, she never feels well rested. Stranger yet, she’s waking up with mysterious bruises and soreness. When she falls asleep with her fitness watch on and wakes up the next morning to see that she walked 40,000 steps overnight, she is filled with a sense of dread. Where is she going in the night? Unhinged literary horror girlies, this is your book! At just under 200 pages, this was a super quick, engaging, and chilling read. Translated from Icelandic, the ability to capture humor and suspense for an English audience was fantastic. Fans of Kate Chopin or Sylvia Plath will love this book. The biggest thank you to @tornightfire for the gifted copy! The Night Guest will be published on September 3rd 2024 🍷

Read a spooky book, unsurprisingly loved it Sometimes you’ve just gotta fall back to your comfort zone, right? And after I enjoyed the HELL out of The Cabin at the End of the World last year, I picked up not one but TWO MORE of Paul Tremblay’s books. The Disappearance at Devil’s Rock is still hanging out on my TBR shelf BUT- A Head Full of Ghosts was finally read. It was incredible. It was disgusting. I have so many thoughts. I have so many feelings. And most of my thoughts and feelings, without spoiling things, are actually about the traps that Merry set up and what they may or may not horribly imply. The other thing I really, really loved about this book, especially this edition, was that it came with a big ol’ author’s note in the back that feels like etchings of what Tremblay was trying to do with each chapter, echoes of other horror, references to writers, it’s like the AP Literature essay we’d all have to write about the book if we ever read something so terrible and disgusting for a class. But he writes it himself. And that’s fantastic. There was mixed media, there was possession (?), there was mystery, there was DEFINITELY HORROR, and I still don’t know if there were any ghosts. He throws it all out on the reader, it’s all up to interpretation, it’s got the same sort of questions that we all have at the end of If We Were Villains but make it 50x more ominous and gut-churning. If you’re looking for a fast and spooky read, it’s a damn good one. Another slam dunk with this one, and I’m just so excited to go through the rest of his back log as I keep exploring spooky books. Make sure you check trigger warnings and take care of yourself as you read ✌🏻✌🏻 #horrorreader #booklover #paultremblay #aheadfullofghosts #headfullofghosts #spookybook #horrorbookstack

🥀Audiobook Reviews🥀 🕷Hello loves! It's Wednesday, and that means it's time for some new audiobook reviews! As always, thank you to @netgalley and all the publishers below for approving me for these advance audiobooks. 🕸My Thoughts🕸 ⛧The Serial Killer's Apprentice by Katherine Ramsland & Tracy Ullman - I'm never sure how to review true crime books like these. It was written very well and I enjoyed receiving the information given to me. I learned about a serial killer I had not previously known existed. I learned about the killings, the victims, and the accomplices. I enjoyed the narration, I didn't feel like I was reading a boring textbook or information pamphlet like I do with some true crime books. This audiobook is narrated by Christina Delaine •Thank you to @highbridgeaudio ⛧My Contrary Mary by Hand, Ashton & Meandows - Mannnnn... I am so mad at myself for not reading this sooner. While I'm not the biggest fan of humor/comedy, these books(previous Jane series) are just so great to me. This audiobook is narrated by Fiona Hardingham •Thank you to @harperaudio ⛧Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price - Just like above, I am so mad I didn't read this sooner, BUT I am also glad because now I can go binge the other 2 books. Jane Austen murder mysteries? Uhh, yes, please. I LOVE historical fiction murder books so much. This audiobook is narrated by Morag Sims •Thank you to @harperaudio 💬ⓆⓄⓉⒹ: If you were an animal shifter, what animal would you want to be? 🏷 #books #booknerdigans #bookstagram #read #horrorreader #bookworm #bibliophile #horrorcommunity #bookish #bookhaul #audiobook #bookreview #bookishalgor #audiobook #spooky #spookyseason #horror #halloween #themacabrelibrary #halloweendecorations #allthingsspooky #darkbookstagram #creepsgetlit #goth #CodeOrange #darkacademia #horrorbooks #netgalley #macabre

a tiny author spotlight because i bought books for the first time in forever! recently i had a huge project at work so i decided to treat myself to two more bret easton ellis books as a reward upon completion!! its no secret i love ellis' work, i think hes an excellent writer and pushes boundaries and makes you really question if you're sane for enjoying his books. The lavish LA lifestyle mixed with some horror elements always gets me. He really makes you feel like things are real. My favorite book of his is The Shards. I loved American Psycho too but it actually got to me which never happens when reading. I don't know if I can revisit it! The movie I'll deff be rewatching though. Anyway, welcome to my shelves Lunar Park and Glamarama! I'm excited to dive in.

Nature’s Perfume-the new novella from Mark Towse, the author of Nana, Crows, and Hope Wharf. Four close friends arrange a trip to the Amazon, all aware this is likely to be their last group outing before the responsibilities of adulthood take them in separate directions. High on adrenaline, plans for an early night before the hike quickly fade, an overindulgence in liquor and drugs setting the stage for the strangest of tales from the locals...and one hell of a hangover. Fairy stories for adults? Folklore to keep the drinks flowing? Grab your backpack and mosquito repellent. There’s only one way to find out. Includes bonus novelette “The Masterpiece.” Tom has a masterpiece inside him. The little devil on his shoulder told him so...and that he should do whatever it takes to make it happen. #horrorbook #horrorread #horrorreader #horror #horrorbooks #horrorbooksarethebest #horrorbookslove #thrillerbookstagram #thrillerbookslover #thrillerbooksofinstagram #kindlehorror #horrorbookslover #horrorbookcovers #horroraddict

Do ya’ll reread books a lot? I don’t! 🫨 I feel like I’ve amassed such a big backlog that I don’t reread unless the book is just calling to me! When my pals @quiteliterarybecca & @catsscornerr were looking for their first Paul Tremblay book ever (!!!) to read I recommended my first Tremblay: The Pallbearers Club ⚰️💐 I feel like this book gets a bad rap and FOR WHAT IDK! It’s slapper and as soon as I strongly recommended (or kindly bullied—-who’s to say) they start here I knew I had to read along 🧛🏻 I’ve got a few books I want to clear this week before I soak up this bad boy over the weekend but I’m so excited to dive back into this big bad character study of Art and Mercy‼️❣️‼️ #currentlyreading #thepallbearersclub #paultremblay #horrorreader #buddyread #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #horrorbookstagram #horrorbookish #constantreader #readingnow #buddyread

Acceptance and denials for the submissions to Carnival of Carnage are being sent out! detailed feedback has been sent with all of them. We hope you understand part of the reason for the delay in response was due to us providing detailed feedback on each story. We suggest a few line edits as well as suggestions on story development and character development, even if it’s not a story we accepted. Part of why we love doing this is the interactions we get with authors. It’s an honor to read everyone’s stories and we love helping authors. Keep in mind our feedback is usually based on ways the story could have been improved in order to be accepted into our specific anthology along with general feedback as readers. Thank you for your patience as we worked through these submissions. We had more than anticipated and it was a wonderful surprise. Thank you for giving us the chance to read your work. Every single one of them was an incredible experience and we look forward to putting together this anthology. If you weren’t accepted, please don’t let this discourage you. There literally wasn’t a bad story in the bunch. And please continue to submit work, not just to us, but to anything you are interested in being a part of. We had a specific vibe and vision for this anthology that we’re hoping to create, but that doesn’t mean your work isn’t perfect for another anthology, or even on its own as a short story. If you have any questions about your submission, you’re more than welcome to reach out and talk to us more about your story, our decisions, and the anthology. Stay twisted. #horroranthology #horrorstory #horrorbook #horrorlover #horrorreader #horrorwriter #shortstory

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨ We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer 🏠 Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5 Eve and her partner, Charlie just moved into an older house in a picturesque neighborhood. One night, there is a knock at the door and Eve stands in front of a family of 5 claiming they used to live there and would like to tour the house. Eve reluctantly says yes. Once the family is in the house, strange things start to happen and as Eve starts to learn more about the history of the house, things are not at all what they seem. Wow, This book was so good. I read this in less than 24 hours. If this were a movie, I can definitely see A24 adapting this. This was very atmospheric, eerie, haunting and unsettling. If you want a face paced read, mixed media (including articles, interviews and police reports), a horror book that will leave you feeling unsure and may give you nightmares, this is the one for you!! A few things I would’ve loved were a few loose ends to be tied up, but I think this was the point and added more to the uneasiness of the story. There were some really cool easter eggs that were hidden at the end of each report in morse code as well so make sure you look out for that. Thank you, @netgalley and @atriabooks for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. Make sure to check this out on June 18 ‼️‼️ 🏠🏠🏠 #netgalley #arcreview #atriabooks #horrorreader #weusedtolivehere #marcuskliewer #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookishvibes

A hard book to read, a hard book to review. “Caste” is an eye opening book about the experiences and treatment of Black people living in America, both in the past (slavery, Jim Crow, etc) as well as in more modern times (including during the era of Trump). I won’t sugar coat this; it’s a horrible, challenging book to read. Reading about atrocities page after page - it’s a lot. But it’s a history that we need to hear. My one negative, perhaps, is that there isn’t much in the way of “now what do we do” suggestions. Nonetheless this is an important book; a *SIT DOWN AND LISTEN* book. This is a must-read book for anyone who wants to have an understanding of the Black experience in the US. Q: have you read this book yet? What were your thoughts? 🤔

🖤👁️🔪🖤👁️🔪 Think I’m going through a bit of a horror phase. This one’s from my TBR: Maeve Fly. I love the movie American Psycho so when I heard this was inspired by it, I had to add it to my list! 💬 Do you tend to stick to one reading genre, or do you read them all? 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 - 𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒎𝒂 😱😳🥵 OMG 😲 😱 I'm reading two equally amazing books right now, but as you can see from slide 2, there is a clear favourite....59% VS 30% Right now I just can't seem to put down Price Manor The House That Burns from @mike_salt even though I try so hard to read them equally, there's just something about that book that has a hold on me and I just can't stop! I'm going to try to read more of Beneath These Walls tonight, because it is quite good, but as you can see from this example that reading two books at once won't work for me because there will always be one that surpasses the other 🤦🏻‍♀️ QOTD: For those of you that have 3 or 4 on the go, how do you do it, and is there a clear favourite that will get read more than the other? After her mother’s death, Belle travels to California to deal with both her mother’s physical holdings and the psychological remnants of their relationship. 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: After reading Bunny, I knew my time with Mona Awad was not over. I love the fun acid trip her books take me on but sadly, this one just missed the mark for me. It was just…nonsensical? I know it’s all metaphorical so I didn’t absolutely hate it for what it was giving but I think I would’ve also been okay if I had skipped it. It felt long and repetitive to me too. I think the overall theme was super compelling but I struggled with the execution of it all. I appreciate its take on grief, trauma, and the beauty industry but I just couldn’t w the pacing and how none of the characters seemed fleshed out. ⁉️Do you have a skincare routine? I don’t really have a skincare routine. I just wash my face in the shower and use lotion before bed 😂
