Today is the day!!!! McKinlay has truly outdone herself! Love at First Book has everything: books, book nerds, an author, romance, a jolly hamlet, a Gaelic guy who is the dreamiest, and Irish butter! I loved the banter between determined Emily and cranky Kieran. When they finally get together it’s like molten lava, no need to kiss the Blarney Stone. I figured out a major part of the plot early on and dreaded that outcome, but McKinlay handled it with her usual charm and savoir faire. This book makes me want to book a ticket to the Emerald Isle, troll through every little Irish hamlet to see if a tall dark and bookish man with a lyrical accent teaches me to not be the “bitch in the ditch!” Thanks @mckinlayjenn @berkleyromance for the early copy. #loveatfirstbook #jennmckinlay #jennmckinlaybooks #berkleypublishing #sigh #irishhunk #lotsofbooks #reviewcrew #summerreading #booklove #emilyandkieran

Funny Story, the latest release from @emilyhenrywrites, is another pitch-perfect contemporary romance, just what we’ve come to expect from her. I read it while on vacation earlier this month, and it was the perfect story to help me unplug and escape from reality. The premise is a little unbelievable - Daphne moves in with Miles after her fiancé dumps her, because he realizes he’s in love with his best friend, who also happens to be Miles’s girlfriend. What was originally just meant to be a temporary living situation turns into fake dating which, of course, ends up not being quite so fake after all. This story didn’t have quite the emotional wallop as some of Henry’s other books (looking at you, Book Lovers), but I still really enjoyed it! Daphne has to learn how to open up and trust over the course of the book, and I thought Emily Henry did a great job showing her working through these issues. It’s immensely satisfying when she shuts down her truly terrible ex - worth reading for that scene alone! If you’re an Emily Henry fan, then you don’t need me to tell you to pick this up. Everyone else, this is a great book to pick up for summer travels and the beach!

“All those moments throughout the days, weeks, months that don’t get marked on calendars with hand-drawn stars or little stickers. Those are the moments that make a life. Not grand gestures, but mundane details that, over time, accumulate until you have a home, instead of a house. The things that matter. The things I can’t stop longing for.” 📖 Funny Story by @emilyhenrywrites is one of the most beautiful yet heart-wrenching (& warming) stories to date. This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint in the slightest. Emily Henry weaves words so poetically that I often forget that I’m reading fiction. She doesn’t make it hard to genuinely feel for her characters and be able to relate to them in some way. 🫶🏻 I love love loveee Miles and Daphne’s relationship from beginning to end. However, what I adore the most about this book is that there is so much more to the story than the romance. It’s about siblings, friends, estranged family, and relationships to self. I truly enjoyed every minute of reading Funny Story (even though I did cry a little) and all I can say is… if you haven’t picked up an EmHen Book yet, this is your sign!✨ @berkleypub

💭🄱🄾🄾🄺 🅁🄴🅅🄸🄴🅆💭 🐟⛵️Meet Me at the Lake⛵️🐟 Author: Carley Fortune Pub Date: 05/02/23 My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was SO different from Every Summer After! I really enjoyed this one, in a totally different way from Every Summer After. This one was second chance love and extremely emotional. The characters were so messy and just so dang realistic AGAIN. I love the way she writes these characters and the story that ends up unfolding. Romance has always been one of my favorites to read and I definitely get into a crazy thriller spiral sometimes but this year has felt really nice diving into these romances!

🥅🏒B O O K t o u r 🏒🥅 Thank you to @berkleyromance for the advance copy and my spot on the tour. I’m excited to celebrate the release of this fun hockey romance! Collide by @authorbalkhabra ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pub date: May 14, 2024 After an assignment from a professor, Summer must work with Aiden, her college’s hockey captain. Summer has reasons why she avoids hockey players, but this one has a way of really getting under her skin. They both need to make this partnership work, but the last thing they want is to be around each other… at first. This book is a college hockey romance and sets itself up nicely to be the first in a series. The main tropes found here are grumpy (her)/ sunshine (him), enemies to lovers, he falls first, and forced proximity. Aiden is a very attentive and endearing male lead. This book is full of steamy moments, a fun college setting, and a lot of likable characters who I hope to see again in follow-up books. If you enjoy Elle Kennedy’s The Deal and Off Campus series, you’ll love the similar vibes here! Thank you to Bal Khabra and Berkley Romance for sending me an arc in exchange for my honest review. review: This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune [free copy from @berkleyromance #BerkleyPartner #Berkley] rating: on the favorites shelf this was the type of book where I spent my workday thinking about when I’d get to go home and keep reading. we follow Lucy who, in trying to protect her best friend, is trying to resist her attraction to Bridget’s younger brother Felix only to find herself spending a charged week with him when Bridget runs away back home right before her wedding. it’s like Book Lovers, Happy Place (with a better ending), and Seven Year Slip rolled into one. I don’t know what Carley Fortune put in her writing but this deserves its spot as one of THE romcoms of the summer. This Summer Will Be Different feels like: biting into a crisp, tart blueberry, the first ice cream cone of the summer, the softness of flower petals, digging your toes into the sand, tired from spending the day in the sun, an Arnold Palmer, putting on an old perfume and being taken back in time, the feeling in your body at the end of a really good day, knowing what someone’s going to say when they tell you they have bad news, the way the air smells when it’s about to rain, the anticipation in the drive to something you’ve been excited for, someone playing with your hair, your heart dropping, the perfect iced coffee, standing in the shallowest water at the beach and the tide is strong enough to threaten your balance but you manage to still stay upright.

The Pull of the Moon R 🌙 E 🌙 V 🌙 I 🌙 E 🌙 W Author: #ElizabethBerg Published by: #BerkleyPublishing #BerkleyBooks 📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚 #ThePulloftheMoon (2000) Quick Synopsis (GR): Uncomfortable with the fit of her life, now that she’s in the middle of it, Nan gets into her car and just goes—driving across the country on back roads, following the moon; and stopping to talk to people. Through conversations with women, men, with her husband through letters, and with herself through her diary, Nan confronts topics long overdue for her attention. She writes to her husband and says things she’s never admitted before; and she discovers how the fabric of her life can be reshaped into a more authentic creation. 💭📖💭📖💭📖💭📖💭📖💭 My Thoughts: I stopped at a Little Free Library and lucked out with this book, which I knew nothing about and dove in blind! I am a fan of epistolary novels and this book is 100% journal entries and letters. It alternates between Nan writing in her expensive beautiful journal and writing letters home to her husband Martin and adult daughter Ruthie after she takes off. I really enjoyed this. When Nan writes in her journal and to her husband, she’s refreshingly honest and open. She says things that every woman has thought or gone through but is too embarrassed to admit. It’s a quick read I definitely recommend. Goodreads Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔ How was your weekend? ❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune ☀️💐 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Carley Fortune knows how to tug on my heartstrings. I'm a sucker for any book she writes. Felix and Lucy had such GOOD chemistry. I love it when characters stare at each other and you can feel the juicy tension between them. I also loved the friendship Bridget and Lucy had. Reminded me of my bestie and I. I would LOVE to live in PEI. The setting sounded like perfection. Q: What’s a book that made you get out of a reading slump? • Nightfall by Penelope Douglas Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ Spice: 3/5 🌶️ Review: This is the last book in the story which follows Will and Emmy. This book picks up a bit after the 3rd one where Will is locked in Blackchurch but somehow Emory is also there. I really enjoyed this book as it takes on a more different route compared to the other books. I enjoyed getting to learn about Blackchurch and the people who ended up there. There were a lot of conflicts and the story was very entertaining. I enjoyed the alternating povs and getting flashbacks of the past. Douglas did a great job of writing the finale of this series. Will is known as the weak one but is he actually? I liked how he proves himself in this book showing he can do things on his own. He had a great character development and I loved it. Then there is Emory who hasn’t had the greatest childhood and doesn’t think she should be love. I also loved seeing her grow and knowing there is a different side to Will. There were many side characters and I loved being introduced to more but also seeing some side romances form. The romance was enemies to lovers, instant love, and forbidden love with steamy scenes throughout the story. The ending was well done and I loved how the book came to be. So much happened in this series that were all separate conflicts but became one big one at the end. Overall this book is wonderful and I recommend checking the series. The first book is very dark than the rest but once you get through book 1, the others are better. *this e-arc was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review in return* • #nightfall #penelopedouglas #penelopedouglasbooks #devilsnight #devilsnightseries #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #enemiestolovers #enemiestoloversbooks #enemiestoloversromance #secondchanceromance #secondchance #steamyromance #steamyromancebooks #darkromance #darkromancebooks #bookreview #berkleypartner #berkleypublishing #berkleypub #berkleyromance #forbiddenlove #instantlove

A new Shadow Daddy has entered the chat 😎 If you haven’t already started the Sacred Stones trilogy, you definitely need to! A Dawn of Onyx is first, and it's full of world building, mystery, tension, romance and action. It ends on a major cliffhanger, but luckily, book 2 picks up right where we left off! We dove right into the action, and it never ended. I'm glad we got more information about the Prophecy (but also more questions), more history about Kane and the rebellion, and finally Kane and Arwen admitted their feelings and got together. The ending was wild and I am UNWELL. Now we have to wait months for the final book and I hate that for us. This book met me in a lot of the feelings I have: I really connected to Daphne’s familial situation, relationships changing with age. For romance, it feels like her and Miles are really bonded and much more than a one dimensional romance. And, this book is honestly really funny. Playing on its title, for me, Funny Story accomplishes what is hard to do: humor without being cheesy. This was sarcastic and witty, fun and raw. How would you rate this one if you’ve read? I was completely absorbed in this book. The friendship between Maddie, Chelsea, and Ava was the central focus but I was more drawn to Riggs and Maddie. I just knew instinctively what a big part of plot twist would entail but hadn’t anticipated the other punch Probst landed on me. My favorite character was Riggs and my heart broke for him several times although he brought most of his own misery on himself. I didn’t really care for Ava. She was needy and manipulative but Maddie allowed herself to be ruled by Ava too. I had a lot of conflicting emotions and also feelings of hypocrisy. I wanted things to work with Riggs but came down much harder on Ava probably because I knew she’d make the first move in what happened. Still no excuse but I’m more of a hardliner and less forgiving than Maddie. Maddie needed to really discover who she was instead of dodging her feelings and her past. But I would never let Ava be that close again. ✨Book Review✨ My Roommate is a Vampire Jenna Levine Pub Date: August 2023 💭Thoughts: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ This book was quirky and fun! I laughed and smiled throughout. The story got more and more over the top as it progressed. I felt like the romance started to take a back seat to the vampire aspect of the story. The ending was definitely over the top, but the epilogue was sweet. If you like enjoy supernatural romances, then I recommend you read this book. It’s a good palate cleanser between heavier books. 🧛‍♀️Synopsis: Cassie Greenberg loves being an artist, but it’s a tough way to make a living. On the brink of eviction, she’s desperate when she finds a too-good-to-be-true apartment in a beautiful Chicago neighborhood. Cassie knows there has to be a catch—only someone with a secret to hide would rent out a room for that price. Of course, her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel. He also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, cares about her art, and asks about her day. And he doesn’t look half bad shirtless, on the rare occasions they’re both home and awake. But when Cassie finds bags of blood in the fridge that definitely weren’t there earlier, Frederick has to come clean... QOTD: Who are your favorite publishers? Maybe you think a book that features an octopus as one of the main characters isn’t for you, but I promise you, you’re wrong. Part magical realism, part mystery, and all heart, this book will stay with you for a long time to come. This is one of my absolute favorite books and I don’t say that lightly. Sadly, I’m going to miss our book club meeting and won’t get to participate in the discussion. All the stars for Remarkably Bright Creatures! What’s your book club reading? Synopsis: After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova. Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late. 🤣 Funny Story - Emily Henry 4 ⭐️ - I enjoyed this one! This one is highly anticipated amongst book lovers (lol) and it is definitely an enjoyable, lovable, summer read! It has witty banter, relatable characters, and realistic emotional connections. Daphne loved the way her fiancée Peter told a story…until his storytelling made him realize he was in love with his childhood best friend, Petra. Which is how Daphne starts her new story.. Her only problem? She’s living with her ex’s new fiancée’s ex, Miles Nowak. The roommates mostly avoid each other, until one night, while drowning in their sorrows, they devise a plan; go on summer adventures posting misleading pictures so their ex’s think they’re together… I did this as a duo read - physical and audio (Julia Whelan duh) and I really enjoyed doing that. The characters and their stories are entertaining, engaging, and relatable. I enjoyed each of the characters in their own ways. There was a couple of storylines that felt unfinished and some pacing that felt off to me, but I still enjoyed the story and the love!. Am I drooling over it? Not really. Am I still recommending it? Absolutely, especially for your upcoming summer reading list! 🏷️: #emilyhenry #funnystory #emilyhenrybooks #romance #romancebooks #newrelease #summerreading #summerreads #summerbooks #berkleypublishing #berkleyromance #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookstagram #audiobookstagram #audiobookreview #juliawhelan

I like my book spines like I like my flowers…. BRIGHT PINK💞 Summer time is on the way so I’ve cracked into my summer romances! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall, this romance was good. I’m not the biggest romance fan though to preface for the review. The plot was cute but predictable. The characters were funny and entertaining. I loved the idea of a group of friends having one last big group trip! It reminds me of a lot of my friendships with my friends from high school! A ton of us are still friends and I love spending time with them and their significant others now🤍 Emily Henry’s writing is always good! She puts a lot into her books and making the plots special. I feel like if you’re a big fan of hers, you’ll like this! I’m either a solid 3 or 5 star with all her books. This one just happened to be a 3 for me, but most romance novels are for me so don’t take my review too seriously if you love a romance!

🌸 BOOK REVIEW 🌸 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars This book was adorable. Enemies to lovers with a fake dating twist! And the cover is stunning! Perfect little small seaside town romance with a great cast of characters. It had a lot of LOL moments, especially the camping scene. And the romance was sizzling. You could feel the tension between Melanie and Evan. I will say this wasn’t my favorite in The Influencers series BUT I still really enjoyed it. This one gave me It Happened One Summer vibes and y’all know how much I loved that book! I’m really excited to see what Amy comes out with next. #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookphotography #bookish #booklover #readmorebooks #summerreads #romancebooks #romancereader #thecatch #bookaesthetic #bookaddiction #bookaddict #bookaholic #amylea #theinfluencerseries #berkleyromance #berkleypublishing #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookworm #booktok #smuttok #spiceyromance

. The House That Horror Built - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pub day 5/14/24 Thanks to @netgalley & @berkleypub for the arc! When I dove into this one, I was expecting it to read like a horror movie. I mean the house of a reclusive horror film director filled with mementos from all his movies? Something awful and frightening is bound to happen. Even though it wasn’t as horror-filled as I wanted it to be, it wasn’t a bad read. I feel like this book could be a good one to read if you are slowly getting into the horror genre. The plot was easy to follow and the characters were easy to hate or love. The beginning and end were good, but the middle seemed to drag on for me. There were paranormal aspects to the story, but to me it was so repetitive having almost the same scenario happen over and over. I was hoping for more horror props to cause problems. ❓Would you stay in a house that was haunted? #thehousethathorrorbuilt #christinahenry #horrorbooks #horrorbookstagram #horrorbabe #booknerd #netgalley #netgalleybooks #netgalleyreview #berkleypublishing #nerdoutbookclub #netgalleyreadathon

🔪Thriller Thursday New Book Review🔪 The House That Horror Built by Christina Henry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this spooky unsettling read! If you love gothic mansion that’s possibly haunted thrillers, you will eat this one up. I like the paranormal aspect and how quickly the main characters accepted it because it was the house of a famous horror movie screenwriter/director. I liked the character study of Harry, a single mom who is barely holding it together financially. It shows why she made the choices she did and really made me think about how different circumstances impact the trajectory of your life. This was a great read with a really surprising and crazy ending. I’d highly recommend this book! Funny Story 📖Synopsis📖 “Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak. But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right?” 🖍️Review🖍️YESSS!!!! Yes to the plot. Yes to the friends-to-lovers and forced proximity tropes. Yes to the banter! Yes to the fake dating! Yes to Daphne and Miles’ love story! Yes to the female friendships! Yes to the mc as a librarian. Yes to the Gilmore Girls small town vibes. My only wish is that I could’ve read this book in the library featured in the story lol🤷🏻‍♀️Bookish dreams! 5🌟

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars: Emily Henry you’ve done it again. Another story that has nestled its way in and found a cozy place my heart. Based off of the roommate trope, I truly didn’t think I would enjoy this story but within the first few pages, I was proven wrong. It felt unique to her other stories and Daphne and Miles were both so lovable (and incredibly self aware.) I think a lot of people will find Daphne’s character very relatable. The story has so many elements of a great rom com, but also deals with friendship and family dynamics as well. Something I really appreciated about this story is that it deals with the impact that unhealed childhood wounds can have in relationships. We see characters who are by no means perfect, but really dive into what them tick, and get to watch their development throughout the pages. Of course, despite the name being Funny Story, I still found myself weeping into the pages. I know this is another book I’ll be thinking about for a while! A sweet moment for me was seeing a reference to one of my favorite books - The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman 🤗 If you loved Happy Place, I think you’ll also really enjoy this one! Have you read it yet? Thoughts?

Speaking of… #Bookreview What’s a better book to read than one titled ‘The Bump’ when you’re 22 weeks pregnant & the BUMP is real!? How do I still have 18weeks to go! Anyway, The Bump by Sidney Karger might be able welcoming a baby but it’s less about pregnancy and more about the journey through surrogacy & the emotions that come with preparing to be a parent! Both Biz and Wyatt are such interesting characters and completely opposite; I kept finding myself offering them parenting advice in my head. The contrast between our two leads was great and while I normally hate the miscommunication trope, I mean seriously just talk to each other, I didn’t mind it so much in this story. I mean I still wanted them, especially Wyatt to just open up and loosen up, but overall, I think it worked for this story. In essence this was a cute and heartwarming read filled with hope and antics. Our supporting characters were great, and I was rooting for Biz and Wyatt the whole time. This will certainly make a great road trip read or listen (as I hear the audio is great) and is coming out at the perfect time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Full review is up on SPEAKINGOF.ORG. If you’re into books with unreliable main characters and twisty plots, this may be the one for you. It’s been out for a few years now, but I just recently got a copy. 🍃 Pub Info — “My Sweet Girl” by Amanda Jayatissa, who is also the author of “You’re Invited” (2022). Original pub date was in 2021 from @berkleypub. It has a 3.67 average & 5.7k ratings on Goodreads. It won ITW Thriller Award for Best First Novel. 🍃 This is a first person POV, dual timeline & setting mystery & thriller/suspense that splits between CA and Sri Lanka. There is a lot going on. The MC is, well, interesting. She has some issues and secrets. It’s a bit of a slow-placed, psychological twisting head-scratcher. 🍃 Plot Info (No Spoilers) ⤵️ The main character, Paloma, was adopted from Sri Lanka and moved to the US, where she had $$$ and the best of everything. Now, she’s 30 and cut off from the money. She sublets her apartment to an Indian immigrant, Arun…. who ends up 💀. She takes off, but before the police arrive, Arun is gone. There’s no evidence he existed in the first place…. Yet, he knew her darkest secret, the desperate actions she took to escape Sri Lanka many years ago. And she was been blackmailed by him. Does someone else know? In the meanwhile, she’s mixing, blacking out, and hallucinating. Is she an unreliable narrator or maybe paranoid? Is it her psychological state or is someone after her? Truly, it will keep you wondering. 🍃 Who’s It Good For? — If you’re into psychological suspenses with unreliable narrators and unhinged decisions, if you’re into immigrant stories, if you like stories about secrets, guilt, identity, and lies. If you are okay with copious f-bombs 🤣

👻 🔪 🩸 The September House by Carissa Orlando @berkleypub . This was a very interesting but good read. While I haven’t read a book quite like this before, I have certainly seen a few scary movies that aligned with this vibe and the overall story. We are talking very very MUCH a haunted house with odd things happening, dead people roaming around, and of course many people trying to convince the main character she is crazy, at least at first. I’ve been trying to get into reading more thriller/suspense types of books so this was certainly a good choice. This was more of a horror film in book format and I didn’t hate it. I really appreciated the author’s writing style and descriptiveness. It truly made this book come to life in your mind. All in all, very good, really creepy, not for everyone but definitely for me! 👻🔪🩸 #theseptemberhouse #carissaorlando #horrorbooks #thrillerbooks #suspensebooks #berkleypublishing #booksbooksbooks #booklover #booklove #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookstagram #read #reader #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookshelf #readersofig

Thank you @berkleypub for two amazing books. 🤩 The Sweet Blue Distance by @sara.donati.author has been a nightly companion as I slowly chip away at it. I've loved the format and taking a step back in time. I had no idea there were two other series so I'm excited to be able to go back to those. ✨I had no idea but the author lives in my area and I saw that she was doing an event at an indie near me... I was so disappointed that I couldn't speed read the book and make it. 😂 What Cannot be Said by CS Harris is an ongoing series that I think 🤞🏼 I can read without catching up in the series. Genre: Cozy Mystery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved it! 🏠 Shelley House, an old historic building in England is home to an eclectic group of tenants. It is being threatened with demolition when the landlord wants to build new flats. When one of the residents is attacked is up to Dorothy and Kat, an unlikely pair of amateur sleuths, along with a feisty Jack Russell terrier, to discover the truth and save the building. 🔎 I loved the sense of community and themes of friendship and found family in this book. Despite their age difference, Dorothy and Kat were quite the pair. It was touching to see Dorothy, a septuagenarian who has been alone for years, come out of her shell and help her fellow neighbors. Kat, who was in her 20’s, had secrets of her own and rarely allowed herself to get close to anyone before moving into Shelly House. 🔎 The story is told from both Dorothy and Kat’s POV, which I enjoyed. There was also a whole cast of quirky side characters that added even more charm to the story. 🎧 I would highly recommend this one. It has something for everyone. I love an English accent and the audiobook narrator was perfect for this story. I loved it so much I had to buy a physical copy for my shelves. 🏡 Charming historic setting 🔎 Cozy mystery 🐶 Cute Jack Russell terrier 🧍‍♀️ Found family 💕 Touch of romance 📖 Dual POV 📖 Read if you liked: 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘞𝘰𝘯𝘨’𝘴 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 ❓Do you have nosy neighbors? >> THIS SUMMER WILL BE DIFFERENT << Author: Carley Fortune Rating ⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️ There is no one better at capturing the feelings and essence of a summer love. She curated the perfect descriptive scenery down the exact smells that overload my senses and made me feel like I traveled into the pages of this book. I want so badly to visit and explore every inch of PEI and experience everything that was described in this book. The way this author writes is poetic. She invokes emotions lie deep within your soul which makes this story very heartfelt. You can’t help but not only fall for Felix and Lucy, but for every character in this book. I think what I enjoyed most is that this author explores the different kinds of loves that people have in their lives and how the term “true love” carries many different meanings. Sometimes “greatest loves are not always romances,” they can easily be non-romantic relationships, dreams, or locations. It’s very rare for me to think that a book is perfect from start to finish, but this book is beyond perfect and deserve all the stars and praise. This isn’t your typical romance book, but instead is so much more and honestly is the best book by this author. Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC ❓What is your most memorable vacation?

5/8/2024, 2:32:25 PM

Thank you to @prhaudio and @berkleypub for the ALC in exchange for an honest review! This one is out May 14th! “She’s the last fragment of sunlight in the overwhelming darkness.” I listened to this because I love a sports romance and it seemed cute. But the story is so disjointed that I really never got fully invested. Summer is a bit difficult to like. She is focused on her education and has such a hatred for hockey players, even though she strings Aiden along for a bit. When we find out it’s related to her dad, it’s understandable, but at the same time it takes too long for us to see exactly why she feels that way. A lot of this feels surface-level and while there is resolution, it feels forced. Aiden and Summer do have great chemistry and the spicy scenes are great. But this book felt too long and like so much of it could have been cut for a concise story. I found myself bored and there were a lot of parts that felt cringey. And I don’t like to compare, but this felt so incredibly similar to another popular book that I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The audiobook is well-produced and narrated beautifully, but that still didn’t pull me into the story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Midweek check-in! How are you doing this week?

Thank you @prhaudio for the complimentary audiobook! ✨BOOK REVIEW✨   Synopsis: Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them? But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right? My Thoughts: Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Emily Henry has written another unforgettable story. I liked getting to know Miles and Daphne and watching their friendship grow in such a short period of time. I can highly recommend reading FUNNY STORY if you like fake dating, smiling, and laughing out loud. ✨Daughters of Shandong ~ Book Review✨ By Eve J. Chung Published on May 7, 2024 Thank you for the free book @berkleypub and @eve.j.chung.writes As I slowly wipe the tears from my eyes, I contemplate how to write this review. Daughters of Shandong is an epically powerful read that made my heart ache. I cannot believe that this is Eve J. Chung's debut novel. It took me back to 1948, China. When the Communist Revolution began its siege. Kicking out large landowners and giving the land to the poor. The Ang's are one of the large landowners in rural Shandong. Hai is the eldest daughter of her family. Her mother is treated like trash, since she has only brought four daughters into the world. Their father's mother making her kneel for hours on end, waking before their workers to make food, cleaning, and berating their mother is her favorite past time. Nai Nai lives to torment. The only crime Hai's mother has ever committed is not producing a son. Which would have granted her position in the family. When they receive word that the communists are coming for their family. Everyone leaves, except for Hai, her mother, and her two sisters. Their father abandons them, believing no one will bother a woman. Ancient traditions have always centered around sons. Boys are placed upon pedestals, given the most food, waited on hand and foot. As the communists kick them out of their home, with just the clothes on their backs. This family of daughters are determined to make it. Their mother is their cheerleader. As time marches on and their walk continues, they are left to beg for every scrap on the street. To watch each other's back, and to care for one another. As they finally make it to Taiwan, their lives still hang in the balance of her grandmother and if their father will take them back. What has occurred in the years they have been separated? ✨Review Continued in Comments with Question…

✨BOOK REVIEW✨ “Happy Place” by Emily Henry is a charming romantic comedy that earns a solid 4.5 stars from me! 🌟 In this heartwarming tale, Harriet and Wyn, best friends since college, find themselves navigating a tricky situation: pretending to be a couple during their annual weeklong vacation to a cottage in Maine. Their dynamic and genuine friendship forms the heart of the story as they grapple with their past romance, their lingering feelings, and the complexities of their relationship. Set against the backdrop of a quaint cottage and the beautiful Maine scenery, Henry weaves a tale filled with laughter, love, and heartfelt moments. With witty banter, relatable characters, and a touch of nostalgia, “Happy Place” is the perfect feel-good read to cozy up with. #emilyhenry #bookrecommendations #romcombooks #romancebooks #berkleypublishing #booklovers #happyplace #goodbook #bookreview #bookstagram

#loveatfirstbook #jennmckinlay #jennmckinlaybooks #berkleypublishing #sigh #irishhunk #lotsofbooks #reviewcrew #summerreading #booklove #emilyandkieran

funny story 🍷☕️📚🛶🌅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5!!!!!) “‘daphne, he says, ‘would you please do me the honor of sleeping in my bed’” (😭😭) this might be my favorite read of 2024 thus far…. i’m OBSESSED. i was quite literally kicking my feet & giggling. miles nowak is extremely high on my book bf list & while sometimes i found daphne to be a bit annoying, i think it was because i relate to her a lot. especially when it comes to being a planner, girl friends, being a “we” person, etc. (not sure what that says about me LOLLL) i loved how emily henry included a mini epilogue, so we can know what happened over a year later. im SHOCKED some people on booktok aren’t liking it! ugh this book just warmed my heart. if you’re in a reading slump, this will for sure get you out of it. tropes: - friends to lovers - opposites attract - fake dating - roommates song: the prophecy - taylor swift #funnystory #funnystoryemilyhenry #emilyhenry #emilyhenrybooks #romance #booksta #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #romancebooks #bookrecs #booksbooksbooks #berkleypublishing #penguinrandomhouse #rootliterary #berkleyromance

Y’all. Carley Fortune is back 👏🏼 on 👏🏼 track. Here’s the tea: 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱: TODAY! 🎉 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: A woman hooks up with a cute local on vacation, not realizing it’s her best friend’s brother - juicy secrets ensue! 🤭 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲/𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻: Prince Edward Island, Canada 🇨🇦 / Present Day with flashbacks 𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Was it as good as Every Summer After? No. But was it better than Meet Me at the Lake? Hellllll yes. 🙌🏼 I finished the whole thing in three days. The MMC was delightful, the setting was a perfect summer vibe (PEI is now at the top of my vacation radar 🐚), and this solidified Carley as an auto-read author for me. My only true gripe was that the FMC wore old lady nightgowns to sleep and it was mentioned constantly. The look I kept picturing was at the end of Titanic when Rose gets out of bed and drops the diamond in the ocean (slide 3, for reference). Just me? Idk, don’t let that deter you. Totally worth the read. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲: 😭 emotional romances (this isn’t a rom-com) 🦪 oysters + oyster competitions (yes, that’s a thing and they get serious) 🌊 beach houses with cozy vibes 👯‍♀️ strong female friendships Thank you to my model, Beans, who is forever willing to prove he’ll do anything for some Cheerios. My next book of the summer (it was snowing Sunday in SLC, but I’m still declaring it summer) is Abby Jimenez’s latest release! Stay tuned! ☀️

Do you read a book as soon as you get it or does it usually stay on your TBR for a while? Sometimes I read books right away and sometimes they stay on my TBR for a bit. I’m a mood reader but that doesn’t make me any less excited to eventually get the time to read them. . This week was an amazing week for releases! Check out all of the books that have a #BookBirthday today! Thanks so much to @berkleypub for the ebook early access! #Berkley #BerkleyPartner #BerkleyBookstagram 💭🄱🄾🄾🄺 🅁🄴🅅🄸🄴🅆💭 🪩We Love the Nightlife🪩 Author: Rachel Koller Croft Pub Date: 08/20/24 My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ YAAAASSSSS another banger from Rachel Koller Croft! I know I don’t have as big of a following as the others but I will tell everyone I know how much I loved this book! Stone Cold Fox was my FAVORITE read last year and this year I absolutely devoured We Love the Nightlife, pun INTENDED! This book was so much fun and this time there’s a more likable main character, but I loved Bea in SCF…. I know many didn’t but she was awesome and so is Amber! I recommend this one a million percent!!!!! I’m gonna have to get the physical copy once it comes out for my collection! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

📖Book review: FUNNY STORY by Emily Henry💜😂 Rating: 4.5/5⭐️ Genre: Contemporary romance Read if you like: fake dating💖, friends to lovers💞, forced proximity👩🏼‍❤️‍👨🏻, small town romance🏘️, witty banter😂 There have been so many reviews of this book lately so I will keep mine short, but let me first summarize by saying I LOVED THIS BOOK! I’ll be the first to say that Emily Henry can do no wrong in my eyes. The way she writes & her characters just resonate with me in ways that’s hard to explain & this book was no different. I fell in love with the town of Waning Bay right alongside Daphne. And while I wasn’t sure about Miles at first, he grew on me so much throughout the book. I think he’s probably my 2nd favorite EmHen mmc!! The book ranked as a whole fell squarely in the middle of her other reads but that’s still saying a lot! I loved it. You should read it. The End. 💭Where does Funny Story rank for you among Emily Henry’s other reads?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Funny Story Author: Emily Henry Source: Purchased Date Published: April 23, 2024 Emily Henry has created another romance masterpiece. This is the perfect blend of love, humor, heartache, witty dialogue, and chemistry…tons of chemistry. Daphne gets dumped by her fiancée mere days before their wedding when he admits his love for what was formerly his platonic (female) best friend after his bachelor party. The problem is that Daphne is a perennial loser in love, starting with her Dad, who leaves her as a child and delivers empty promises for the rest of her life. She has one week to find a new place to live and asks Miles, the ex-boyfriend of the girl her ex has fallen for. Miles agrees, and they start an uneasy alliance in a two-bedroom apartment that morphs into a fake dating trope (hilarious), and we are off to the races. It takes a while, but our battle-weary Daphne is finally falling for Miles, and things get very interesting. You will enjoy the great cast of supporting characters. It is a story that will give you all the feels, including funny, sad, lovely, and a hilarious story about how bad things can turn into good things. This is now my official favorite romance book of 2024. #romance #secrets #pasthurts #love #loss #humor #wit #veryfunny #wine #oldWounds #HEA #closeddoor @emilyhenrywrites #FunnyStory #librarian #berkleypublishing #happy @berkleyromance 💋 #book #books #bookaddict #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstagramer #bookshelf #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #reader #booklove #bookreader #reader #readinglist

A gorgeous review for Belle from @whats_katie_reading! 😍❤️🥰🐴 Thank you so much, Katie. I’m thrilled you enjoyed Jasper and Julia’s love story! 💕 #Repost @whats_katie_reading with @use.repost ・・・ The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you @prhaudio for the free audiobook! #PRHAudioPartner In a bold move to escape social constraints, Julia proposes to the enigmatic Captain Blunt, exchanging freedom for marriage. As she delves into his mysterious past, Julia discovers unexpected depths beneath his dour facade. Mimi Matthews is quickly entering my list of favorite authors—especially for historical romance! The slow burn romantic tension is perfect 🤌🏻 I wasn’t sure how I felt about Captain Jasper Blunt at first, but he drastically grew on me as the story went on. It was so enjoyable to watch anxious Julia come into her own person, and I appreciated how Jasper didn’t cause her personal growth, he just was there for support. I love a good beauty and the beast retelling, and this book certainly lives up to those themes and expectations. Captain Blunt has secrets and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they would unfold. I primarily read via audio and enjoyed the narration. There were moments where the male narrator felt a little forced, but it did help emphasize Captain Blunt’s brutish characteristics. Perfect for you if you like: Slow burn + marriage of convenience Misunderstood dour MMC Bookish characters Romantic tension and angst Similar to: The Ladies Rewrite the Rules by Suzanne Allain To Marry and to Meddle by Martha Waters (I have not read) Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn ⛔️fade to black romance ⚠️mild language, mentions of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse, recounting war themes #thebellesoflondon #thebelleofbelgravesquare #belleoflondon #mimimatthews #historicalromance #fairytaleromance #fairytale #victorianromance #hisfic #romance #berkleypublishing #berkleyromance #sweetromance #closeddoor #bookstagram #book #bookrecommendation #bookreview #audiobook #whatskatiereading @berkleyromance @berkleypub @marsallyonlit
