A memory game where you had to match country flags, and as a result, a game that made me want to research countries around the world, giving me an early hunger for travel. As I grew older, one of my goals became to "travel as much as you can, for as long as you can" Some say I might have done life 'wrong', but the reality I live now is spending up to 6 months of the year travelling and experiencing all of the culture, nature, and wisdom of new lands, giving me a global education and keeping me aligned with the lifestyle I always wanted, with the love of my life, all while doing the work that truly lights me up and leaning heavily into my own spiritual pursuits. It doesn't sound 'wrong' to me, it sounds like the life I always dreamed of has come into reality through manifesting from very humble beginnings. It sounds like I challenged what society expectations were, and decided I wanted a very different kind of life to most others. Our latest Growing Grant project is complete! During Spring break, one of our Commercial Construction teams installed a beautiful new garden in the Peninsula Elementary courtyard in NE Portland. The space is for students and teachers to use for quiet reflection, relaxation, and mental health. The school felt that what they needed most was a place where someone could sit and be surrounded by the healing power of plants. We reused existing granite pavers, made use of half-hewn logs for seating, and filled the space with flowering plants and calming grasses. We love giving back to our community and finding creative ways to build inspiring green spaces! ‘’ Sow, Grow, Give ‘’ a sculpture and performance that was part of the show ‘HORTUS HORTI HORTO’ that I curated and organized at @kalf.space last summer. (Go to kalf.space to see the most with some of the works of the 26artist included) Late april till august i was on location everyday carry buckets of waters to keep grow these flowers, it was a labour off love, letting me see growth everyday. They spend 3 weeks inside the artspace as part of the show.
