Despite our innate resistance to change, we always seek it. If you want something different for your future, you must do something differently now. I always suggest starting with changing your morning routine. There are many spiritual & scientific reasons for this, but just think of it as how you start your day is the day you will choose to have. I am most comfortable having a fluid toolbox of morning routines that include yoga, qigong, mediation, reading, studying, watching esoteric & stoic videos, and so on. In my early twenties I heard what many people would call the voice of God. I was running on the forest trail as I had for many days. My dog Jack was my only running partner and he ran free as I stayed on the trail. The sounds of the river & nature were my only soundtrack. As I rounded a corner to begin my uphill climb in last third of my run I heard it. A voice that was soothing yet so powerful it drowned out all other sounds. “It’s all within you” I immediately knelt down in the dirt and wept. I knew that voice, just as I knew that message. I never looked around to see who said that or if anyone was around. I knew. I remembered my Divinity. I remembered that I am the Universe. This is true for all of us. We are all made of stardust. I am no longer interested in being fierce or savage. I used to feel empowered by those words. The boldness and strength resonated with unhealed parts of myself that still required armour. This may be surprising to some, to say don’t trust your gut. Everyone has heard this advice. We’re encouraged to make decisions about others and our choices based on this. Here’s why I discourage this. Your gut is impacted by trauma and until that is healed & released it will mislead you. Your body keeps the score of everything you have experienced even when your mind has blocked it from your consciousness. Your heart will always remain a source of pure guidance BUT it will be very difficult to hear (even impossible) over unresolved trauma because it will be merely a whisper among the screaming trauma responses. A ‘gut’ response in trauma generally feels sharp, pointed, or restrictive energy in your body. True intuitive guidance is soft & expansive. Learn to feel that difference. Have you ever heard yourself or another say, “I knew that would happen!” in response to something negative or disappointing? Instead of seeing this circumstances as something we created with our thoughts based in fear (trauma), we may believe it was because we predicted it. This further ingrains our practice of following our trauma rather than hearing our intuition. Our intuition is never looking to blame, point fingers or judge anything. But our trauma does exactly this. Saying how we knew someone would let us down, how we’d fail, or something wouldn’t work out for us. Every human on Earth will have to become aware of their wandering mind. It’s just part of our design. I’m posting about this because these energies are triggering & will keep triggering chaos within each one of us. Chaos is a gift. It creates discomfort to the point that we cannot ignore our imbalances any longer. There’s a huge influx of external projection of this discomfort that is being seen already. There are millions of doctors but no two exactly the same. There are certain uncomfortable truths that we choke down rather than gracefully accept. Particularly the ones that remind us, we are a The Creator of ourselves and our lives. It’s all us. We are still navigating the intense energies as of late. The Dark Moon, the Solar eclipse, followed by intense Solar activities impacting the Earth’s heartbeat and thus our own. Many of us grew up being trained for planning. Plan our schedule, plan our to dos, plan our future. The action part was usually left out. If we’re not careful, we can spend of our lives in mental planning rather than actual doing. There’s rarely ever a perfect time to start. We can always find reasons to wait. Waiting to start is a human specialty. Don’t wait for motivation because that will fail you every time. It must be a choice. A choice to start and see how it goes. If you have no idea where to start, I always recommend a life wheel audit. Evaluate the 7 key areas of your life related to work/career, family, finance, fitness, friends/social/fun, mind/intellect, spiritual/faith. See which ones seem out of balance. An unbalanced wheel cannot roll smoothly. Think about how your time and what your days look like. Now, write down what your ideal day would look like. Expand that to a week. Now a month and a year. You can do this side by side in each 7 areas of life. For example in fitness: I feel tired all the time and want to work out but I never seem to start and I don’t like gyms = I am an active person, I am physically active everyday, I wake up well rested, I love taking walks and stretching, I maintain a healthy weight range for my body, and enjoy foods that nourish me. Start with how you feel or how it seems to you right now and shift into “I AM” statements for your future self. This activity makes it clear what changes need to be made to have a different life. And now the action. Ask yourself what can I do today that will have the biggest impact for my near future. Pick 1-3 things to take action on and do it. Many of us set goals and forget the bigger picture. Think about why you’re setting a particular goal. You may realize it’s not even your goal, but rather to satisfy someone else or society. Look at who you want to become with your goals. This will bring your actions into alignment with your future self rather than a rigid goal. Simple example is someone wants to learn to play an instrument as a goal. There’s a very limited energy in that statement. But if that person shifts to say, “I want to be a musician”, that carries an enormous flow of energy and creates an expanded view of the goal. Thinks like, I want to be rich, married, have a degree, a beach house, a new car, etc. now ask yourself why? Who do see yourself becoming with those goals? If you just focus on just the goal and not how it plays into you as a person, you’ll likely reach each goal and then say, “now what?”. Because that goal didn’t fit into a long term picture. The Law of Behaviour shows us that thoughts create our feelings and feelings create our behaviours. If we want to change anything, we must change our thoughts. Many of which have become automatic programs that runs behind the scenes of our awareness. Always track your self inquiries back to thoughts. Why do I always procrastinate? Ask yourself what thoughts/beliefs may have created that Behaviour. Why do I feel sad most of the time? Ask yourself what thoughts/beliefs may have created that feeling. When we remember that thoughts are the start of everything we have a bit of a roadmap to work with. It also helps us avoid wasted effort in trying to change by focusing on the external things. Be mindful of the loop that our mind likes to create. Thought = feeling = Behaviour = thought. This loop continues until we actively change the first thought. Also understand that negative thoughts create negative feelings. Positive thoughts create positive feelings. There is no possible way this creation can be different. Negative = negative Positive = positive Until we are very used to being aware of our thoughts, we usually only become first aware when we have an emotion. Maybe we’re not even aware of the emotion and only become aware of the behaviour. Remember, it all started with a thought whether you you were are of it or not. Feeling an emotion? Remember there was a thought you missed that triggered that feeling. Awareness is a practice.
