हरित भ्रांति फैलने से पहले किसान बैलों या ऊँट से खेती करते थे। बैल, ऊँट व स्वयं के परिवार को छाया मिले इसलिए हर खेत में पेड़ जरूर होते थे। मुझे याद है कि हमारे खेत में आम, जामुन व शहतूत के पेड़ थे जिनके फल हम व हमारे आस पास के लोग खाते थे तथा उनके नीचे हमारे बैल व हम आराम करते थे। बैल व ऊँट आदि के खेतों से निकलते ही किसान को पेड़ ट्रेक्टर के रास्ते में रुकावट लगने लगे व खेती में बाधक लगने लगे। किसानों के अनावश्यक खर्च बढने लगे तो किसानों ने खेतों से पेड़ काटकर बेचणा शुरू कर दिया। आज हरियाणा व पंजाब के खेतों में दर्शन मात्र को भी पचास साल से पुराने रूँख (पेड़) नहीं बचे। ओर यह स्थिति अब मध्यप्रदेश में निर्मित हो रही है... रही सही कसर हम खेतों में कृषि अपशिष्टों को जलाकर पूरी कर रहे हैं। जलाते रहो🔥🔥 पर हाँ याद रखना कि प्रकृति हमसे बदला अवश्य लेगी। ✍️ आओ अपनी प्रकृति का संरक्षण करें... वृक्षारोपण करें 🌳 www.earthcarengo.org Earthcare Foundation NGO EARTHCARE FOUNDATION NGO #plantation #earthcare #savetree #savenature #indorengo #savetrees

They live both above and below ground, joining Skyworld to the earth. Plants know how to make food and medicine from light and water, and then they give it away. 🌱This teaches us humility and open mindedness. It allows us to reframe our narrative of ourselves as the dominating species (aka the center of the Universe — an Ego based understanding of ourselves and life) to be able to see ourselves as the ones who have little experience and much to learn from wise elders of the natural world we belong to and come from. S n i f f t h e s o i l . . . 🟫 Not something I usually do when I return from a visit to @thekinema - our fab local cinema, which has shown inspirational indie films like The Nettle Dress and now a film about a subject which intrigues me - soil. 🟫 After watching the powerful documentary @sixinchesofsoil I came home, got out a trowel and dug a section of soil from the field in front of the house, where we haven’t moved the earth at all, for 20 years and if you watch the film you’ll appreciate why I sniffed it. 🟫 The film highlights, new pioneering farmers, communities and individuals all championing soil ecology -agroecology - a sustainable approach that works with nature through regenerative practices to heal the soil and us. By nourishing the soil instead of depleting it, they’re advocating resilient local food systems, while combating climate change. 🟫 One startling fact resonated deeply: There is only six inches of topsoil,such a thin layer, that sustains all our food production, yet it has been alarmingly degraded. Campaigns like #savesoil are crucial for restoring this irreplaceable resource. 🟫 A previous neighbour of ours was an agronomist and I wish I’d taken more time with her to appreciate soils value with its rich, earthy aroma - a scent that grounds us to the cycles of life itself. But more than its sweet but musty smell is the fact that we can no longer talk of sustainable practices but the need for regenerative intervention, speaks volumes. 🟫 “Despite all our accomplishments, we owe our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact it rains.” Paul Harvey (1978) U.S. radio broadcaster. 🟫 There aren’t many films where every seat is filled and people stay behind to discuss the significance of the film for them, while being visibly moved, but this was one. In 2022, during the end of COVID, No Plant Left Behind ran a community engagement program growing food waste tomato seeds to show how much impact one household can have. Instead of throwing away tomato seeds, they collected and dried them from a single household over a period of a year. Then, they grew them into big plants. People in Rotherham, Sheffield, and Doncaster could take these plants for a small donation or free. We didn’t want to use plastic pots within the donation, so they made pots from old newspapers to ensure a more sustainable transfer of the plants. They also used peat free compost to help the plants grow in a more sustainable compost mix. Over 200 tomato plants were made. No Plant Left Behind taught many people who had never grown anything before how to take care of them and gave them the opportunity for the first time to learn. Teledyne Space Imaging has provided the key imaging and sensor instrumentation for the #EarthCARE #atellite, an advanced Earth climate monitoring project scheduled to be launched into space in May 2024 and jointly implemented by the European Space Agency ( #ESA) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency #(JAXA). The satellite will use Teledyne Space Imaging’s instrumentation to capture data that will be sent back to the ground to assist in #environmental monitoring and future decision-making. EarthCARE stands for Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer. Teledyne Space Imaging has provided a custom charge coupled device (the CCD243) for the satellite’s ATLID instrument. I highly recommend reading it. Here’s what you need to know: Salmon farming in Tasmania is NOT sustainable and is destroying marine habitat. There are no Australian owned Tasmanian salmon companies. Salmon are NOT native to Australia: “Tasmanian salmon” is a brand, not a species. Salmon farming is driving one of our indigenous species to extinction: the Maugean skate is a species as old as Tyrannosaurus Rex and it is being killed by the massive waste generated by salmon farming. Your “wild farmed” and “ocean farmed” salmon produces city sized quantities of untreated sewerage. Farmed salmon need massive amounts of antibiotics to survive in crowded farms. The salmon industry bombs fur seals to prevent them from hunting their salmon. They have dropped nearly 6,000 “seal bombs” in the last six years. The red colouring is not natural, but the result of a pellet fed prior to killing that stains their flesh. Like all seafood, salmon accumulates heavy metals including mercury.
