Book Review: Bridesmaids by Jane Costello โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ I read this book about 13 years ago and decided to reread it again. Evie is 27 a down to earth sparkly journalist. She has never been in love and all her relationships last a few weeks as she always finishes with them. So it's no wonder when she becomes a Bridesmaid 3 times, 2 for her best friends and her mother. But she meets Jack at the first wedding who makes her smile and is Valentinas date, one of her friends who is self obsessed, beautiful and shallow. Has she finally met the one? This was such a fun and an easy read. I loved when they went to the Isles of Scilly as there was some great scenes. There was so much wit throughout the book, the creepy ex Gareth and also Seb. Valentina was hilarious especially when it was time for her wedding and also her friends, Grace, Georgia and Charlotte. I loved the epilogue as it was a perfect ending. What a beautiful day and it's 22c ๐. Book Review: I heart Hollywood by Lindsey Kelk. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Following on from Angelas first adventure to New York, she is sent to Hollywood to interview the gorgeous and fellow Brit actor James Jacobs. She is thrown into the deep end to Rodeo Drive and all things Hollywood. The only genuine person is James despite his ladykiller reputation. But then the paparazzi catch them together and Angela finds herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons even her boyfriend Alex doesn't believe her. She has to convince her boss and her best friend Jenny not to believe what is in the papers. I adored this book from start to finish, all the characters were brilliant and I was having a few giggles along the way with poor Angela and getting herself in embarrassing situations. I felt I was really there in LA with Angela and co. Charity shop find ๐๐ When I lived in the city I didnโt used to look for books in charity shops because I had loads of other book stores, and I always thought that most the books there would have cracked spines or be really old or be classics that I donโt want to read ๐ but my misconceptions have been changed because LOOK at what I found in my local charity shop! Where I live now has some amazing charity shops with massive book sections A complete BOX SET of The hunger games trilogy (including the box!?) with no damage or broken spines ๐ for only ยฃ6 I had to take this home even though Iโve already read all 3 books, but they were 5 star reads and I wanted to own them. Book Review: The Wish List by Jane Costello โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ It's been a while since I read Janes books and I am looking forward to her new one to be released. Emma Reiss has 6 months left until she hits her 30s and she has some unfinished business. Her career is all wrong, her love life is a mess. She finds her wish list that she wrote when she was younger and she wants to fulfill them. Learn the guitar, snog a celebrity, see the Northern Lights, jump out of the plane, have a one night stand etc. She sets about addressing these issues with some hilarious consequences and she discovers others are more trickier than others. I adored this book so much, it had me giggling all the way through especially when she visits the GUM clinic, the overnight camping disaster ๐, her dad telling her about his dates disasters. But also the friendships she has which I loved, Matt her gorgeous neighbour and a few more serious moments that were going on. I loved Emma so much she was a great character. Plus the chapters were short as I prefer them, as I seem to read quicker than long chapters. REVIEW: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ 5 stars! Another great story from this series. This book is about Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac, who never shouldโve met. Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the rebellious colonists and has her own reasons for hating the insurgents. Rebellion is in Flynnโs blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make uninhabitable planets liveable, but they never fulfilled their promises on Avon, and Flynn is leading the rebellion. Desperate for any advantage Flynn returns to base with Lee as his prisoner when they cross paths. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough talking girl, Flynn makes another choice to escape the rebel base with her, leaving them both caught between two sides of a senseless war. So the first book in this series (These broken stars) was amazing and felt like a twist on Titanic. This one definitely felt like a sci-fi warzone Romeo and Juliet and I LOVED IT! Lee and Flynn were loveable characters, on opposite sides of the war but they both want it to end and find peace between their people. Once again we had these strange occurrences happening, in the first book it was the whispers that Lilac and Tarver heard that helped them when they crash landed. In this book it was soldiers acting like they were possessed and becoming violent. Two different situations, but they seem to be connected and you can sense that thereโs a bigger underlying story waiting to come out. Lee and Flynn obviously find it hard to trust each other or anyone else, and their romance was definitely a slow burn with more focus on the plot. I really enjoyed the creepy setting of Avon - a planet not yet fully terraformed and complete with ominous fog and mist everywhere, and swamps that you canโt get through without a boat. I liked the ending, although you can tell that itโs all building up to the third and final book which will have a bigger ending so itโs not all fully resolved in this one. Overall, an amazing but easy sci-fi book that Iโd recommend to anyone that enjoys a bit of action and a bit of romance. QOTD: do you like sci-fi? I do! Which series do you wish you could read again for the first time? โจ๐ Iโd LOVE to read any of the SJM books again for the first time, especially ACOTAR! BOOK REVIEW ๐ Tom Lake by Ann Patchett A story of a mother, Lara, telling her grown up daughters stories from a particular time in life to pass the time while they all harvest cherries on their farm in the early days of the COVID pandemic, told in present day as well as the past much like a โHow I Met Your Mother,โ about Laraโs past attending a theatre school, being cast as the main lead in โOur Townโ and the relationships she formed along the way. There was something musical about how this story was told. It seems to have a rhythm and flow to it that was beautiful. I liked many of the characters and enjoy that there were some beautiful family relationships portrayed. A very warm and feel-good read. The pacing might have been too slow for me had I not listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Meryl Streep which was excellent. The plot wasnโt action-packed yet I found myself staying up late at night reading. Donโt go into this expecting a whole lot, itโs more of a quiet character study. Ten Dates โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Author: Rachel Dove I was unsure about the story after reading the synopsis, but Iโm glad I read it because it was an amazingly sweet story between Callum and Alice. Ten Dates is written as dual point of view, which helped give an insight on both of the characters and the troubles they were facing. I also enjoyed the flashbacks of the memories Alice had forgotten and the ones she remembered, it was comforting to see the love between them when they were younger despite not getting along. Both Callum and Alice were going through a rough patch after Aliceโs accident, and it was heartbreaking to see their struggles. I wish the book lasted a little bit longer! I'll try and keep it as spolier free as possible, and just go on vibes because I can be here for ages if I go into details, which no one has the time for ๐ The itinal first binge read: Yes, I was one of those who took the day off work and read it all the way through. It was a journey!!! I don't know if it was sleep deprivation (it properly was), but I vibed with it. I loved it and thought it was a five-star read. There are so many great moments and scenes and the beginning in the tunnel? Did not have that pair on the bingo card, but I'm here for it. A few days later, actually, at this point, it's a few months, and I have to nock a few stars off, I think it's one of her weaker books, and it pains me to say that. There were many great moments, but equally, there were some really poor moments, Bryce's behaviour?! Ithan and Tharon? That poor brain cell they share ๐ and yer some other bits, if you know, you know. I also think some of the characters should have died, like the good characters and the team, I think it would have made it more emotional and impactful. I still enjoyed it, though, and it won't dim my excitement for the next ACOTAR book. I am so ready for Az ๐ค I am and always will be a maas girly. The Murder after the Night before 5โญ๏ธ This book was so gripping and honestly a funny at time thriller read, I felt for Molly Monroe I wanted to reach in and hug her but then at the same time I wanted to bloody shake her n tel her to sort herself out! I enjoyed the suspense throughout the book because there was tons of turns and twists and emotions, normally I try and guess the outcome but with this one I just wanted to enjoy the book. The things Molly goes through at the beginning of the book honestly shouldnโt be happening. Also with her best friend โdyingโ and her not believing the upmost effort molly goes to to find out the truth. I bloody loved them The person who stole my heart while reading this was James, even though though them dating was meant to be โfakeโ so Bexโs ex bf would leave her alone James fell for her hook,line and sinker it was lovely. He was such a caring, sweet and hopeless ๐ฅฐ he would do anything to protect bex even if it put his career in jeopardy! I loved the pace of the book and even though it took me a while to read it will be a re read at some point for me. As you know I loveeeeeee small chapters as this book was just that.
