Something about guns and bombs and rockets, and those who make them with such delicate precision. Also some photos of yesterday’s gathering at my university, calling for a severing of ties with companies which make weapons. The protests focus on Boeing, but there are a number of others (Lockheed Martin, Thales,…). I have been around the tertiary sector for a long time. Universities have changed a lot over the years, but the ideals of light, liberty and learning are in my view still very there. And as such I have always had a difficult time with weapons manufacturers having anything to do with universities. There is a fundamental difference. CLUMSY BLUE HERON I love the wobble when, after his elegant, seamless glide over Sale Lake, cueing me to settle into presence for some kind of magnificence to manifest, he just doesn’t stick the landing, and momentarily explodes in a kerfuffle of feathers — splashing and flapping, disturbing the whole low-hanging tree in a bouncing shiver of leaves. Nei nasceu no bairro de Irajá, no subúrbio do Rio de Janeiro, filho de Eurídice e Luiz Braz Lopes. Nei Braz Lopes nasceu na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no subúrbio de Irajá, em 9 de maio de 1942, filho de Eurídice e de Luiz Braz Lopes. Bacharelou-se pela Faculdade Nacional de Direito da antiga Universidade do Brasil, em 1966. É advogado, compositor, escritor, poeta, contista, sambista, pesquisador da cultura afro-brasileira e teatrólogo. Teve seus poemas publicados em vários jornais, tais como: Tribuna da Imprensa, Jornal do Comércio, Correio da Manhã e na Revista Civilização Brasileira. Ainda muito garoto, começa participar das montagens teatrais, rodas de choro, saraus e shows, cantando e dançando no Grêmio Recreativo Pau-Ferro, fundado em 1957.
