Rumour has it that the lyrics have been inspired from a sufi mystic's poem; another one is that this part in particular is from Mīrābāi's poetry, the sixteenth century mystic and poet who was a Rajput Princess before her seeking began. Either way, it might not be necessary to emphasize or highlight on the spiritual aspect of this song, now that we know the intent of the poets in both cases. The backdrop hints that the speaker is talking about what will happen after his death, and is addressing a crow in particular, which is symbolic of all forces of nature that will act on him after death. He knows his physical existence will perish, but there is something he doesn't wish to lose despite being aware of the nature of death and time. That something is his eyes. The speaker's eyes symbolise not just sight, awareness or memory, but also an inedible imprint on the speaker, that has been bestowed on him by the "beloved". He says it is important for him as it carries the hope of being reunited with his beloved, which most likely hints at him either being able to recognise his "beloved" again, or dissolving into the source of his origin, thus marking ultimate liberation. The whole song is centered around summoning a "naïve bird" back "home".
