So it's just under a week until The Girl Who Sings to Dragons is released, and when I'm not worrying something will go wrong, I'm thinking about the future of the series... The Winged Wolf Saga is, overall, a story that I estimate will take 4 books to tell Aiden and Fionnuala's story: Book 2, The Wolf and The Swan, is currently in the 2nd draft (I had to go back to the beginning, too many plot holes were turning up π€¦), my hope is to get it ready for my editor by year's end and have it ready to publish at some point in 2025. I've got maybe a quarter of Book 3, The War of Frost and Fangs (I'm still not sure about the title π€), and that's all very disjointed, so once the book is with the editor, it'll be full steam ahead writing that, and I've got the ending and a few odd scenes for The Crowned Wolf written down, so these are my projected aims for getting the Winged Wolf Saga completed, assuming I don't hit any snags along the way... There's two supporting novellas I've been working on in my spare time that I technically consider part of the Winged Wolf Saga: The Raven's Gift, which is a prequel, telling how Aiden's parents met, fell in love and how their lives changed in the events leading up to the main series, and The Mourning Wolf, which is a standalone story detailing the backstory of Ulfhild, one of my favourite supporting characters, and how she became the Imperial-hating shieldmaiden that she is in the Winged Wolf Saga... A thorn in the flesh with a lot of shattered pains and pangs who just wants to crash everyone who reaches out with intimacy because I am a bitter thorn of devastated past, although I can be perfumed flower as well who just wants to scatter fragrance for the most deserving one, but I have trepidation of unseen future that the gentle hand will try to hold that pretty flower will be ended up by the bleeds of thorns, and then you will hate me but I know these are shields to secure my fragile heart. Flower withering on her misfortune because things could've been different, although I want to break these thorns but my hands brutally bruised and now I'm just tired by my spicule. I wish to bury myself but low key soft flower is waiting for a splendid hand and the adoration will be poured by you in the dead petals of unpleasant thorns probably you will get hurt in the beginning but who knows at the end of journey you will be blessed by the most cheerful fragrance which can bloom your heart. βAfter taking several breaths, the three whales rest at the surface and notice me watching them. Their powerful sounds of echolocation stir my insides, each one repeating an identical series of clicks, almost like a greeting. They slowly make their way towards me, and goosebumps race down my arms with excitement and apprehension. I have never felt so small in my life, dwarfed by the size of these leviathans. And itβs like they are just as interested in me. All three of them are now just an armβs length away, all facing me, like they are waiting for something. My scientific brain stubbornly asserts that I do not anthropomorphize the wildlife that I study and encounter in my work. Yetβ¦ Do they know what I am? Timidly, I reach out my hand towards the whale directly in front of me. And just like that, it moves to put its unbelievably massive, square head under my palm. It gently nudges me, pushing me back in the water, enough to make my heart skip several beats. The first sperm whale backs up, allowing the other two whales to take turns coming to nudge my frozen hand. This is purely magical, no biological reason for this sort of behavior.
