Just a few lines I wrote about my medieval lumberjack Torrin……The throaty caw of a wary rook startled the Manor’s lumberjack. Looking up at the inquisitive corvid, sweat ran down his ochre cheeks, wetting his already germ-ladened bristly beard. Throwing down his axe, it landed on a tree trunk, splinters flying in all directions as the force sliced through the wood as if it had been a giant gourd! Years of practice honed through working the forest, rewarded the son of a peasant with the strength of Goliath and the manners of a tavern drunk! Clearing his throat he spat into a blackened kerchief he’d pulled from his shabby horsehair breeches, before wiping it across his greasy forehead and bringing it down upon his broad nose. With a shake of his head he squinted up at the shards of sun snaking through the forest trees. Pulling at his beard he tightened and twisted the unruly length, like a washerwoman wringing out her bodice. Droplets of salt dropped from his chin; as sure as he’d wrung it through a mangle. Standing close by was Clover, munching on a sward of grass swishing her tail, angrily trying to deter the horse flies swarming around her matted mane. Clover stood harnessed to the old wooden cart; as she had done every day since she was a frisky mare full of joy and devoted to her master. Years of working the faithful Clydesdale as she toiled and carried wood back over the uneven ground of the dense forest to the peasants’ settlement had wearied Clover, she was worn, her once beautiful eyes dull and tired…..If you have got this far thanks for reading. //पारिजात// पारिजात... नाम में ही कितना सुकून सा लगता है और वैसे ही इसके गुण जैसे जैसे अंधेरा बढ़ता है जहां एक ओर सभी फूल मुरझाने लगते हैं, फिर से खिलने को नई सुबह का इंतजार कर रहे होते हैं, वहीं दूसरी ओर पारिजात उस वक्त चारों ओर अपनी खुश्बू बिखेर देता है और फीका कर देता है उन घने अंधेरों को... बेहद पसंद है मुझे पारिजात... इस दुनिया की वास्तविकता से हमें रूबरू कराता है पारिजात... कई बार जिसने बुरे वक्त में साथ दिया होता है, अच्छा वक्त आने पर उसे भुला दिया जाता है, कुछ ऐसा ही तो होता है पारिजात के साथ... रात भर जो सबको अपनी भीनी खुशबू से भाव विभोर करता है, सुबह वही ज़मीं पर पैरों तले कुचलने को पड़ा होता है लेकिन फिर भी पारिजात अपनी अच्छाई नहीं छोड़ता... जहां भी होता है सब कुछ अपनी खुशबू से भिगो देता है, सुबह अपने अंतिम पलों तक... मेरे एक जानने वाले हैं जिनके आंगन में यह वृक्ष है। पतझड़ के बाद सभी वृक्षों ने नए पत्ते पहन लिए हैं, आम में तो फल भी आ गए लेकिन पारिजात अभी भी सूखा पड़ा है... कितना स्वार्थी होता है न इंसान, हमें बस सौंदर्य आकर्षित करता है, हम सीधे अच्छा परिणाम चाहते हैं, प्रतीक्षा हमें झकझोरती है... मैं बेसब्री से इंतजार कर रही हूं उसके फूलों का और उसी झुंझलाहट में मैंने कहा पता नहीं ये कितना और वक्त लेगा... तभी मेरी एक दोस्त ने कहा, हां, वक्त तो लेता है मगर सुंदर भी तो लगता है न... कितने सिंपल से शब्दों में कितनी गहरी बात कह दी थी उसने शायद ये उसे भी अहसास नहीं और तब मुझे रियलाइज हुआ कि वाकई सबसे सुंदर और अच्छी चीजें घटित होने की प्रक्रिया भी कठिन और संघर्ष भरी तो होती ही है.... - Lucky 🍁 #instawriters #yqwriters #longforms #hindi #observation #पारिजात #thegirlwhowrites❣️ #myclickmyquote
