some days I become exhausted with myself, wonder when I'll stop walking these circles, digging myself deeper into the ground. It is the small things, I've noticed, in the day to day, where you find yourself coming out of the trenches you helped build yourself. When you take a slight step right or left and a new pattern emerges. But first, you must look back. You must be willing to really see yourself. You must be willing to carry the pain of your past. You must learn who you really are. It is a sad thing to think, so many simply don't. We tell ourselves stories about the way the world works, as if we are not part of this world, as if we are not as human as the person next to us, as if we are not all crawling out of our skin in hopes of finding something more in this life. I am not talking about things or status here, I am talking about walking both gentle and fierce, with deep intention and care, every single day. Because all of our hearts are broken in some form or another. All of us are just asking, "does anybody care?" and maybe somewhere in the great complexity of life, there is beauty in that breaking - when we can be brave, when we can be honest with ourselves, when we can be humble, when we can forgive, when we can open up to something new and light and true. When we can take a step, however slight, in a new direction - even when it feels like the hardest thing we can do. Just wait until you look back, days or months or years from now. Reincarnate 🦎🙏 . . . I recently watched a video of the final moments of a chameleon, where it burst into an array of colors before it’s eventual death. I thought about what this would signify in the animal kingdom compared to what I felt it meant. Researchers say it could be anything from a nervous system malfunction or even animal instinct, to carry out one last alarm to other chameleons to procreate and lay eggs. For me, personally, it acted as another clue to yet again pursue my art. That if I die, I hope to have fulfilled my purpose of sharing my gift through words, in a fireworks display if need be. It also reminds me about the nature of motherhood, how it is beautiful, wild, hard, chaotic, heartbreaking and wonderful all at the same time. Someone I used to know once said to me, “Fathers are dispensable. Mothers are not.” While I can’t agree with that completely, I do know that no matter how fraught my relationship with my mother feels sometimes, there isn’t a love in the world that can compare. Not even my father’s. It’s because I have seen it in her that I am able to give the same limitless love to my own child. an old historic museum. the peeling walls, revealing layers of history and stories. there’s traces of mud on the floor serving as a reminder of the souls that have entered and looked around over the years. each footprint etched into the slowly sinking ground. the broken window, with its jagged edges, allows streams of light to cast eerie shadows across the worn floors, creating an atmosphere of both melancholy and intrigue, enticing you to enter further. there is a sense of those who once inhabited this space still linger, their presence felt through the soft mumurs and hushed conversations fill the empty air. legends and myths circulate among visitors that, if you stay too long, you might become privy to the hidden secrets and untold stories of the museum. as you wander from room to room, you can’t help but listen to the ethereal voices and the sound of the hushed melody of a piano. there are still art pieces on the wall, some hanging delicately by a single nail, a painting of a woman with her eyes wide open, a statue depicting a man lost in thought, and an old book with pages that have turned yellow with age. in the corners of the museum, darkness seems to linger endlessly, the cold wind carries a sense of otherworldliness, while the unblinking eyes from unseen cracks seem to watch your every move. admist the darkness, there are rooms filled with warmth. the outside air seeps in, inviting you to stay for moments longer, to wander further through the corridors. it’s as if the lost souls within the walls are yearning for someone to listen, to hear their forgotten stories. so, take your time, explore every inch of the fallen world, and let yourself be transporrted to a time long gone. be cautious, for the whispers of those who once were may start to echo in your ears if you linger for far too long. enjoy the experience and embrace the rich tapestry of history that awaits you within these hauntingly beautiful walls.
