It’s no secret that I love reading but throughout the years I’ve gone through cycles of reading constantly and then not picking up a book for over a year. The excuse always being “I haven’t got the time”. It wasn’t until last year that I really started to look at how I spent my free time and decided to break down the spare hours I had. Ignoring time that I’m asleep, there’s roughly 112 hours in a week, of which I work, on average, around 50 hours. Take away a few hours for the boring mundane daily tasks, I realised I have more than enough time to read and needed to stop making excuses. So this year I decided to make reading a part of my daily routine. REVIEW - Roar of The Tides by Veronica Rossi, book 4 in the (Under the Never Sky) STARS - ⭐️ 4.5 I read this series about 10 years ago and it is one of my favourite series. I adore it so much. So I was over the moon when I saw Veronica was writing Roar’s story ahhhhhh. This did not disappoint, I was brought back into the world I love and it was like I had never left. I was instantly pulled back in with the characters we fell in love with in the other books. If you have not read book one, Under the Never Sky I absolutely recommend reading them before this one, for a more enjoyable read. As there are some spoilers too if you go straight into this book. 🌌 If you have read this series then we all know Roar is Perry's best friend, and he was super sweet and so glad he's got his own story. Poor Roar has had it rough and been through a lot since the other books. So this is a year later with them all living in The Still Blue. Was so cool to see what all the other characters were up to as well. We also get a few of the old characters joining the adventure with Roar again. We get new characters too, Tempest, who happens to be Sable's sister. That makes things very interesting. Love Tempest's strong personality, she fits in with the crew perfectly. I love the build up of the Roar and Tempest relationship, I was squealing for him. 🌌 I don't think I loved it as much as Aria and Perry’s story, but I certainly enjoyed reading Roar’s and Tempest's story. Loved the fact it was a two-pov story between the two main characters, so we got both sides of the story. ‘How to kill your family’ - Bella Mackie Four star claps ✨✨✨✨ When Grace Bernard discovers her absentee millionaire father has rejected her dying mother’s pleas for help, she vows revenge, and sets about to kill every member of his family. Now don’t worry, this isn’t a spoiler, it literally spells it out in the title of this novel. You also get a really interesting perspective of post convicted (maybe?) Grace in her prison cell, whom she chairs with an overbearing yet highly interesting cell mate. How To Kill Your Family is a dark, sometimes brutal, delight of a novel that really hit my dark sense of humour on the chin. For some, this might even be quite graphic in the way that the acts are explained, but with the twisted humorous spin that is put on the descriptions, you can’t help but wanting to hear more about them. Grace is far from a character you want to sympathise with, but she is oddly relatable The one thing I didn’t love is that you don’t get to say goodbye to Grace. I built a bond with her throughout, which is strange considering what she did, but I didn’t get to close that chapter with her as a character. Yes you find out what happens to her, but I didn’t get the closure I wanted from her inner monologue. Maybe this is what Mackie was hoping for? I like to think so. Looks like Bella Mackie has a new novel coming out later this year which you BET I will be getting my hands on as quickly as possible (but I’ll wait for the paperback because I am not a hardback girly)

Book Recommendation: The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse by Robert Rankin. --- "This chocolate bunny looks like you" - @thelibrarybat "I don't look like a Rabbit" - @the.andy.library (aka Rabbit-boy) Personally I don't see the resemblance... but it does give me a fantastic excuse to recommend one of my all time favourite books again!!! --- Jack is on his way to the big city to make a name for himself, but when he arrives, it's not what he expected. Toy Town consists of humans and toys living side by side - if not as equals. Now a psychotic murderer is un-aliving Toy Towns celebrities - the famous Nursery Rhyme Characters - in ironic and gruesome ways... Jack soon meets Eddie - the personal Teddy Bear of Willie Winkie(PI), alcoholic and high priest of the Midnight Growlers! The two undertake an investigation into the serial murders... and the hollow chocolate bunny "calling cards" that are left behind. The father of Far-fetched fiction does his usual fantastic job with this. His writing style takes a little getting used too, but is loaded with three of my favourite things - wordplay, humour and chaotic nonsense! It does descend into the realm of the silliness, and round about puns/gags - but that is entirely the point! From Eddie's verbal tick where he can’t use collaborative nouns... To the simple use of Alliteration as a part of everyday life in Toy Town... But more specifically the sentence structures. With childlike rhyming and prose being such a dominant feature in how the book is written from the start - it can be a little jarring, and feel like a strange narrative choice. However as the novel progresses these often become humourously dark, and lend to the overall feel of Toy Town. Personally I think he is up there with Sir Terry Pratchett(if a little more chaotic). And honestly, I can't think of higher praise that I could give. I totally recommend checking out this clever and surreal satire, of the classic Crime Noir genre. It gives definite Who Framed Rover Robot Vibes, and I can't wait to jump into its sequel: The Toyminator!

✨Star Survivor by @lbrace_author ✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you to @instabooktours for having me on the tour💕 Star Survivor is a cleverly written take, on the dangers of reality TV shows. It was hugely gripping, and initially very fast paced. It follows four celebrities, who believe they have signed up for a Survivor style TV show. However, they soon find that they’ve been dropped off at the wrong island, and have to (literally) fight for survival. I really enjoyed the first three quarters of the book. I loved both the Island setting, as well as off the Island. I also believe that the characters anxiety was very well portrayed, and there were some truly nail biting scenes. However, I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed, and would have liked to have seen this fleshed out more. Another book finished, and not my usual read. Still crime fiction based, still an Icelandic author, but it’s set during the Viking era. I’m not usually a fan of historical fiction, but I was under pressure in the library (parking was going to run out 😂), and so I just grabbed randomly and figured it’s an Icelandic author the odds are in my favour. But no matter how many times I read the ballad of songbird and snakes , I never get bored ❤️❤️❤️ I always notice new details. This is a true masterpiece. There are a lot of books which are a great experience. You read them and you fall deeply for the characters as their feelings move you. It helps shape how you view your own experiences , morals and relationships with other people. That is how I feel about the Magnolia Parks Universe by Jessa Hastings. Love is not a prize for the perfect. It is the firelight that encourages the imperfect to carry on in the world. It was so amazing to meet the magic behind the art 😊 🩵🌞It brings it all that more to life ( insert comment on life imitating art). But honestly, it's nice to slow down and not just consume someone else's art but show appreciation for it ❤️ And yes of course I had to dress up as Magnolia Parks , bow tights and all.

Ive been eagerly anticipating the completion of the Empire of the Wolf series by Richard Swan. The initial two books captured my interest, and I have shared my thoughts on them in a previous post on my account. The narrative revolves around Sir Konrad Vonvalt, an Emperor’s Justice who serves as a detective, judge, and executioner all in one. Konrad and Helena are faced with the task of rallying allies to confront Bartholomew, who now possesses infernal abilities granted to him by a demonic benefactor. Thus far, this series has offered a captivating blend of fantasy and murder mystery, and I have thoroughly enjoyed Swan’s writing style. 🇬🇧 If you are looking for a book that will take you out of a readersblock, this is an option. If you are looking for a good book, I wouldn't recommend it. Don't get me wrong, I really liked this book, but I knew previously that it wasn't a blown mind one , so I didn't actually have a lot of expectations. Also, the protagonists are just... the perfect stereotype, He is 6 foot 4, with big muscles, shy (in that mysterious way), and She is 5foot tall, clumsy. She faints every 4 hours, so yeah, that kinda got me on my nerves. But if you like this type of books, please go ahead and buy it. Last but not least, I would like to say that the author made really good work with descriptions (in almost everything). I could feel the emotions I think she was looking for. Overall, it was a quick and easy read that I would recommend if you don't have nothing better, but I wouldn't put it in my priority list. 🇪🇸 Si estas buscando un libro que te saque de el bloqueo lector, este libro es una opción.
