💔 📜 📿 When women realize how much Abrahamic religious tradition is built on the back of a “controlled narrative” … … a mythic framework that was explicitly designed to remove Divine Femininity from our consciousness ... one of three responses will ensue: 🫣 Response 1 ~ Head in the Sand For some, it can be easier to deny, look the other way or “double-down” on forms of spirituality that have been deemed “acceptable” by anti-feminine religious authorities.* 🤬 Response 2 -~ Unbridled Anger For others, the recognition of what’s been done to Goddess (and us) can trigger an anger response that only grows in intensity over time ... and for which there is no “escape valve” or “off switch.” ❤️🩹 Response 3 ~ Grief Followed by Growth For a third group, there is no denying what’s been done. But the grief that flows from this recognition becomes a catalyst for a reclamation of personal power ... and of the building of a new spiritual life based on wholeness. Reading this, you might find your own experience is reflected in all three of these responses. Or, that you have moved through each of them in succession. There is no “right or wrong” path when it comes to healing work. However ... In my experience of this journey, the challenge lies in where we get “stuck” in the process. Getting stuck in denial ... or in anger ... can lead to years’ worth of energy drain and lost opportunities for joy and flow that Goddess brings. A great deal of what passes for “feminine healing” today subconsciously tricks the psyche into staying stuck in denial or anger, then mistakes that state for “healing.” Denial is common in polarity, sacred union or “Divine Masculine healing” communities ... while anger is more common in the modern Goddess movement. The third path — of grief, followed by growth — can be more challenging to embrace, but I believe it offers us a chance to serve the Goddess we have rediscovered. We get to embody Her consciousness and literally BE Her Presence in the world. What better way to re-infuse the planet with the energies we ourselves searched for, for so long? I started seriously meditating at the lowest point in my adult life. I had a toddler and just given birth to a new baby girl and my (unhealthy) marriage was collapsing I was heart broken, devastated and terrified about supporting two children on my own. The crushing pressure of that situation gave me two choices: I could go up or I could go down. I could go within or I could fall apart. I started meditating. The Tower card and I seem to have a special relationship. A lot of people see it and dread what is coming, I used to be the same. Over the years I've become more comfortable with it. I have felt overwhelmed by everything going on with being evicted, managing a build so I'm not homeless, the ending of a relationship, the general state of the world right now and fear of what's to come. There's nothing like an extra dose of drama to jump start you from overwhelmed to grounded in warrior mode. Given to me in the form of a very unwell young person being violent and triggering all my past traumas by terrorising the house of all things. Because he was removed from the situation for being the opposite of helpful. Pulling this card today reversed, and as an 'attend to' reminds me I can't let it all pile on top of me and become despairing. I won't be crushed by the falling rubble. No point in asking 'why me'. Rather proclaim 'it is me' I can do this. I can do this from a grounded place, OK. It won't be as soft and gentle as I like to keep things but that's OK. I have a dark feminine to lean into and a solid heart warrior. I have 12 days left before I have to be out. My new house isn't quite finished but I have an army of love and support and I am assertive AF when I'm not being precious about taking up space. Sometimes the Universe will tell you to pause by putting a wall in your way but that does not mean there is nothing you can do while that wall is there. One thing you can do is rest just like when you lean on a wall. Rest does not mean full stop, it means stop doing what is tiring you beyond what you can recover from on a day-to-day basis. And if you don’t know what is tiring you out, then this is a good time to check in with yourself to figure out what that is. Another thing you can do is to look back and see how far you have come. It is very easy to forget all the effort that you have made to be where you are now. Reflect on that and congratulate yourself because you have done well, very well in fact. You can also do your hobbies, do something creative and fun where you just do that thing and allow your brain to rest. Hobbies are very meditative, to be honest, that’s one of the reasons I enjoy crafting and journaling. You could also just do nothing and just be. It is a lot more restorative than it sounds on paper or in this case online. Journaling Prompts for Personal Decolonization: A Beginning How can you support and uplift Black Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in your community and beyond? These are difficult, heart-wrenching times. As a facilitator with lived experience across many intersectional identities, I believe we need a starting point. I offer these prompts as a personal invitation for deeper reflection. However, before attempting to step into unfamiliar shoes, I call you home- home to your own context. When I think about what's happening globally, I return to the beginning: contextualizing myself as a Boricua of the Diaspora living on Turtle Island. I ask, how did we get here? What did we "buy" into? How do we perpetuate, simply by living here, the structures created by the ever-present spirit of colonialism? I believe in rebuilding our capacity to hold multiple perspectives with humility, questioning our own privilege. Let's gently engage with these questions. The worldwide change we seek begins with us, personally, interpersonally, and then communally and systemically.
