The biggest moments of transformation in my life have without fail introduced me to parts of me that I didn’t know how to love yet. Expansion and integration are synonyms in my book. So when I feel stuck, my natural inclination has become to look look for aspects of me that I haven't allowed myself to integrate yet. This has been pivotal to move out of what looks like self sabotage and resistance. Which are truly more invitations to reconcile with parts of us that weren't welcomed. Fragmentation causes us to have our intent and personal power split, it hijacks our self worth, and the consequence is that we often don't have the spiritual stamina to evolve. Integration is the antidote. Each threshold of expansion will demand the integration of both dark and light... it will ask us to embrace our repressed power and face the fears we encoded around its full expression. It's with that intent on mind that I created INTEGRATE many years ago. Shifting how I relate to disappointment has been critical in my ability to go after the things I find meaningful. I've noticed that the more I was attempting to protect myself from disappointment, the more I was guaranteeing a life of disappointment for myself. How? Through frustrating and rejecting our heartfelt desires because we fear getting disappointed, we guarantee disappointment. Would you agree? The fewr of disappointment keeps you in what I like to call disappointment checkmate. We can always find many reasons to rationalize what we won't go after what we want. I've done that... and let's call it for what it is, it's a form of self-abandonment. How do you therefore shift your relationship with disappointment? Odds are you'll have to sit with the pain of earlier disappointments you went through and disconfirm the stories of unworthiness that you may have internalized back then. That pain needs to be metabolized. After that there is the necessary journey of attempting things you fear to fail. And building the muscle of picking yourself up when you get disappointing outcomes. The more you do that, the more you are able to demonstrate to your survival instincts that: 1. You can tolerate going through disappointment without letting it hijack your self esteem. 2. You can experience disappointment without letting it cause you to abandon yourself and your desires. These distinctions are critical in order to create anything meaningful. Would you agree? I wasn't a big fan of writing as a medium when I started... even though all my work revolves around writing at the moment. Can you relate? When we get fixated on what we perceive as "brokenness", we can get trapped into what I call healing trance. We keep chasing the next thing to heal. We get trapped in the shadow of shadow work, where we keep chasing the next shadow element. And that can lead to what I tend to call healing burnout. This is something I've lived and I often see that within people I work with. We often unconsciously pathologize our very humanness... What I mean when I say that you are not broken is that you are a mosaic. And the tapestry it forms is unique to you. Embracing all the fragments of the mosaic and learning how to love them all is part of our work. And that does not exclude what you see as dysfunction. It also includes our repressed power. The light we keep in the dark... our golden shadow. That too is a potent fragment of the mosaic, that we get to embrace. It's easy to forget what we do all this work for. At this point of my journey, it means coming more fully alive. It means to use my voice as an outlet for my soul's expression. It means leading, loving and serving from my heart. The world around you will not always treat with reverence what you put out there. Learning how to deal with this is a meaningful part of the journey of sharpening your capacity to share your magic. When we get fixated on what we perceive as "brokenness", we can get trapped into what I call healing trance. We keep chasing the next thing to heal. We get trapped in the shadow of shadow work, where we keep chasing the next shadow element. And that can lead to what I tend to call healing burnout. This is something I've lived and I often see that within people I work with. We often unconsciously pathologize our very humanness... What I mean when I say that you are not broken is that you are a mosaic. And the tapestry it forms is unique to you. Embracing all the fragments of the mosaic and learning how to love them all is part of our work. And that does not exclude what you see as dysfunction. It also includes our repressed power. The light we keep in the dark... our golden shadow. That too is a potent fragment of the mosaic, that we get to embrace. It's easy to forget what we do all this work for. At this point of my journey, it means coming more fully alive. It means to use my voice as an outlet for my soul's expression. It means leading, loving and serving from my heart. A message for the collective that feels important to share…Please note that my intention is not to make anyone bad or wrong here, but simply to illuminate collective darkness the way I see it. ✨ In our history, it has been the way of the ‘white man’ to make the most primal aspects of the human psyche inferior and ‘less civilized’. With love, I want to say that I’m seeing this in spiritual, conscious, and personal development communities. It’s ironic, given we celebrate primal ways of relating to the world within these communities, as we roar like lions at ecstatic dance and make offerings to primordial gods/goddesses…which I LOVE. But do we *really* embrace the primal human psyche on all levels? What about…on a shadow level? 🌑 Trauma and shadow bring out our *most primal* parts - our animalistic instinctual sides that fight for survival, and this manifests in many ways - from attachment struggles in relationships to scarcity mindset in our finances. It’s one thing to address our trauma so it doesn’t ruin our lives. It’s another to perceive the unhealed parts of ourselves and others, as ‘inferior’ or ‘lesser than’, which is something I’m seeing A LOT. Guys. This is colonialism…masking itself in conscious living 👀 It’s an echo of our own ancestral trauma. As the collective evolves, we have to make sure that ‘healed’ doesn’t become the new ‘civilized’ with a connotation of ‘better than’. If we do this, we’re only perpetuating colonialism as we place people in a category of ‘other’, creating more of the very shadow that we claim to integrate, and actually regressing any progress we’ve made. We can’t cherry pick the primal aspects of the human experience that we like, while sticking our noses down at the darker parts that we don’t like. This isn’t wholeness. Things worth being aware of: 🌛”Othering” someone else if we perceive them to be ‘unhealed’ (we’re all unhealed lol) 🌛 Perfectionism around showing up as a healed conscious person (which is just a desire to fit in) 🌛 Thinking our way of relating to the world is “better or higher” than other people’s And so much more… What your thoughts? The biggest moments of transformation in my life have without fail introduced me to parts of me that I didn’t know how to love yet. Expansion and integration are synonyms in my book. So when I feel stuck, my natural inclination has become to look look for aspects of me that I haven't allowed myself to integrate yet. This has been pivotal to move out of what looks like self sabotage and resistance. Which are truly more invitations to reconcile with parts of us that weren't welcomed. Fragmentation causes us to have our intent and personal power split, it hijacks our self worth, and the consequence is that we often don't have the spiritual stamina to evolve. Integration is the antidote. Each threshold of expansion will demand the integration of both dark and light... it will ask us to embrace our repressed power and face the fears we encoded around its full expression.
