This is a book I’ve been eagerly waiting to read for a while now and I’m so glad I read it. It is such a heartbreaking book. Britney Spears has been through so much and all you want to do is give her a really big hug. It’s insane how much control was taken from her. It is also crazy that the conservatorship was even put in place for her when there was nothing really wrong with her. She was just being a really young, and possibly naive, 20something year old woman who was put under a lot of pressure. It would drive anyone nuts. The setting for most of the books is the fictional island of Skymar. This book is a contemporary romance. And Luke and Ellie's story is such a sweet one! This weeks @booklyapp wrap. #newauthorstolove I’ve discovered this week @sinnamon_carnelian and their delightfully trashy/smutty romances, @evaalton and her Vampires of Emberbury series. I took the audiobooks out from the library and was so enthralled I also downloaded the ebooks so I could read them. I was too impatient to wait until I was on the go again to find out what happened. @amandaflowerauthor has a lovely little cozy mystery series that I’m looking forward to diving into. @tarasueme wrote FOK and has a stack of steamy stories for the spice lovers. #continuingtoread I’ve completely run out of books in the Dark Olympus series by @katee_robert and now I need to decide if I’m delving into another of their series or hitting stand alone. I zipped through the Dirty Billionaire series on audio by @meghanmarch hers are always a fun listen. She likes to end on a cliffhanger though so make sure you have ALL of the books in the trilogies on deck. I can’t remember who narrates for her but I really enjoy the people she selects to read. The Stephanie Plum series by @janetevanovich is a reread. I enjoy her characters and her writing. #worthreading Quiet by @susancainauthor lots of good concepts and the books is really well presented. There was one part I disagreed with and found to be a bit tone deaf as far as recognizing societal issues and it definitely came across as being written from a place of privilege. This is why I found it to be a bit tone deaf. However, people write what they know and from perception and for their intended audience and realistically the intended audience is likely to be able to throw money at problems and pull their kids out of public schools. It’s appropriate for the book but it did leave me personally feeling a bit put off. Considering that was the only thing in the entire book that I found really off putting it’s overall a small thing and the value in the book overall is far greater than that small portion. Pe premiza asta am mers când am făcut cunoștință cu Daphne du Maurier și cu "Rebecca", unul dintre cele mai populare romane ale sale, stârnind fascinația încă de la apariția sa din 1938 și continuând să inspire și în prezent. Am înțeles mai bine acum influența puternică a scriitoarei asupra altor autoare. La prima strigare îmi vin în minte "Femeia din oglindă" — Rebecca James, dar și scrierile lui Kate Morton. Așadar când aveți chef de o carte cu care să mergeți la sigur, "Rebecca" trebuie să se numere printre opțiuni. Mai ales dacă sunteți fanii genului clasic îmbinat cu stilul gotic, ce abundă în mister, suspans și romantism. Caracterul psihologic oferă greutate cărții, asta și datorită atenției oferite la construirea personajelor. Acțiunea începe la Monte Carlo, unde eroina cărții aflată în postura de companioană a unei doamne din înalta societate îl întâlnește pe atragătorul Maxim de Winter, proprietarul domeniului Manderly din Marea Britanie. Încă dărâmat după pierderea recentă a soției sale, acesta îi atrage imediat atenția, o atracție aparent reciprocă pentru că în scurt timp cei doi se căsătoresc și se întorc la Manderly, un loc încă bântuit de amintirea frumoasei Rebecca, prima soție a lui Maxim. Cititorul are ocazia de a deveni confidentul protagonistei, romanul fiind scris din perspectiva acesteia. Fără însă a afla numele ei, detaliu deloc întâmplător, autoarea dorind să o arunce și mai mult în anonimat, să o facă și mai ștearsă decât este, construind astfel antiteza perfectă dintre ea și Rebecca. Știm doar că numele ei este unul "fermecător și original" după spusele domnului de Winter. Autoarea creează cu măiestrie o scriere extrem de atmosferică, rezervând un rol central conacului Manderley, locul de desfășurare al acțiunii, căpătând statutul de adevărat personaj, care prinde cititorul în mrejele lui ca un adevărat prădător, copleșindu-l cu greutatea amintirilor pe care le păstrează.

Είναι από την Αργεντινή και θεωρείται η Βασίλισσα του νουάρ, και μάλιστα τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Pepe Carvalho το 2018 για το Elena Knows. Ωστόσο, για την ίδια το μυστήριο γύρω από ένα έγκλημα είναι μόνο η μισή ιστορία: "ένα μεμονωμένο έγκλημα συχνά παρουσιάζει τη διαφθορά στον πυρήνα της κοινωνίας". I would say the plot is pretty much simple and relaxing yet not too simple because these three identities are so mysterious that they got me hooked to know their relation with Nanoka. Are they truly a person? An entity from the future? Or perhaps a wandering ghost that happens to share similar conditions with Nanoka? 🤔 my take is that she's unconsciously met three wandering ghost that looks perfectly normal until she can see and learn her lesson as much as they learn theirs. Because the abandoned houses and the different tenant that has been living there for 4 years are just too ironic 😶 The protagonist's character can be rather annoyingly narcisst for calling everyone around her as stupid but that's just some lil' kid that doesn't knows much about life and she soon learn her lesson from one of those ladies. It's a good development to see she changes into someone better even though she grew into adult in chapter 11. Not only that, she even braced herself to mend the bond that were once severed by her cause. In any way she could. I found this book in the middle of a pile of novels, and I felt like going back to the time when it wasn't difficult for me to read and rebuild my hobby on this one. My first reading is so intelligent and philosophical masterpiece that I will introduce it to you. I think this book can be read by all ages, men and women and will be a good continuation because this book is only 118 pages thick but has a lot of meaning. So, this book amazed me like WOwW the cover and the contents were completely different because I thought this was a children's book. We are presented with the main character of this novel called the "Little Prince" who explores planets including earth. Each planet has different inhabitants, the contents of which educate teenagers like me about important basic things. In this book we are following them at a writing retreat. When briar starts receiving weird, random text messages she turns to Trevor a security guard who works on campus & after a video is found some things start unfolding with this guy Trevor & the twists I never saw coming is insane. Saint takes her away to his manor mansion for some time alone where they spend everyday together, writing & doing very dirty things together🌶️🥵 She doesn’t fully trust him yet she’s falling for him. He will kill anyone that comes close & hurt their relationship. I loved this book, there is definitely more spice, more plot twists & humor. Here are some of my fav things I highlighted from this book: “For being my muse. For being the reason I was able to write again, let alone finish my book. I was on the verge of giving up entirely. Book review 📚📚 Every Step You Take by M. A. Hunter ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Molly is running the London marathon, it is her last chance to gain a place on the Olympic team. The last few months have not been easy, recovering from an injury and all the stress from her stalker, at least he is behind bars or is he. I am a huge fan of this author and really enjoyed the missing children case files series but this book did not hit the mark for me. The premise was great and the ending was fantastic as I did not see it coming. What I didn’t love was the constant internal dialogue, it was a bit repetitive. Also I really don’t know if a competitive runner could have constant distractions from her phone to chatting to other competitors and still continue to run. But what would I know, I can’t run to save my life 😂 Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood books and the author for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

“Haunted By Shadows” by @authorkelcarpenter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m speeding through this series 🥹🤩😍 The second book is another page turner. I literally couldn’t put it down (I did have to when I needed to take care of my kids and mom/wife duties LOL) This second book was sort of intense, but I loved every single page! I forgot to mention in my previous post that this series is a slow burn romance. I don’t necessarily have a preference in that aspect but I do 🥱 if the slow burn is way too slow. Level of spicy 🌶️ for book 1 was level 🌶️ and book 2 was 🌶️🌶️ 👀 So let’s see how the rest of books in this series go as far as spicy 🌶️ levels since it’s a slow burn romance! Copilul vede ghinda din care îi crește viața zilnică, dar omul matur privește înapoi și vede stejarul." 🐈 Dacă vă știți iubitori ai universului fantasy și sunteți în căutarea unei povești epice, care se desfășoară strat cu strat, crescând în intensitate, complexitate și semnificație, atunci cărțile scrise de Robin Hobb sunt neapărat pentru voi. Eu am început cu trilogia Farseer și a fost una dintre cele mai bune decizii. Iar acum m-am îmbarcat la continuarea seriei cu trilogia "Omul arămiu", "Misiunea Bufonului" fiind primul volum al seriei. Fiind un volum ce continuă aventura din cele 6 Ducate și dezvoltarea eroilor săi, nu o să fac referiri concrete la acțiune. Menționez doar că povestea se reia la 15 ani de la evenimentele din ultimul volum al trilogiei Farseer și l-am perceput-o ca pe unul dintre cele mai terapeutice volume ale seriei. Scriitoarea are abilitatea de a transmite un sentiment atât de reconfortant și de a oferi cititorului o conexiune atât de intimă cu personajele, cum rar mi-a fost dat să descopăr până acum. "Misiunea Bufonului" a fost mai mult ca oricând despre concentrarea pe importanța conceptului de a trăi în prezent, aici și acum. Și a continuat cu abordarea unor teme de mare profunzime: dragoste și doliu, rolul diverselor misiuni în dezvoltarea și căutarea sensului pentru personaje, lupta între loialitate și bunăstare personală. Mi-a plăcut și accentul pus pe descrierile amănunțite și atât de reale a celor proscriși în ochii societății. Sistemul de magie căpătă nuanțe noi și devine atât de firesc, asta și datorită măiestriei scrierii. Iar personajele sunt cu adevărat de neuitat, și în asta stă tot farmecul unui fantasy bine țesut, în opinia mea, bineînțeles. Motanul nostru Runa nu a fost prea dornic să facă parte din distribuția scenică pentru niște cadre reușite, dar ne-am luptat cu aroganța lui și asta a ieșit. 😅
📚 Friend zone - Abby Jimenez 📚 După ce am adorat seria "Part of Your World", am fost tare happy când am văzut că va fi tradus la @edituranemira romanul de debut al autoarei, "Friend zone", prima carte din seria cu același nume. Pur și simplu mă reîndrăgostesc de stilul lui Abby Jimenez la fiecare carte citită, le citesc cu mare interes, sunt distractive dar și serioase, câte puțin pentru fiecare 🤭 "Friend zone" spune povestea lui Kristen și Josh care devin prieteni, se înțeleg de minune, dar există și o atracție între ei care nu poate fi ignorată ❤️🔥 Mi-au plăcut multe lucruri la acest roman: - descrie destul de bine lupta ei cu crampele (cu care orice femeie are de-a face de-a lungul vieții), dar care aici sunt baza unor probleme medicale serioase - relațiile de prietenie sunt frumoase, puternice si relatable - se întâmplă lucruri la care nu m-am așteptat, dar pe care le-am înțeles (citind apoi niște recenzii, am observat ca aceste schimbări de situație au fost deranjante pentru mulți) - personajele sunt tare plăcute și distractive (cel puțin pentru cum le-am simțit eu 😅) Am citit cartea împreună cu o prietenă și mi-a prins bine la final să discut despre anumite lucruri. Ideea cărții se învârte în jurul infertilității, ceea ce poate fi un subiect delicat pentru multe cititoare/cititori. O persoană care a trecut sau trece prin asta, poate vedea anumite părți ale cărții altfel decât le-am perceput eu. Vă spun doar de lucrul acesta să știți dacă vă e greu să citiți cărți cu acest subiect. La cum am simțit eu cartea, nu pot decât să o recomand, la pachet cu orice a scris vreodată Abby Jimenez.
