I never dreamt about you before you came into our lives 12mths ago… I never dreamt because when I was 17 I was told you would never happen. Over the years and many many fertility doctors I was told I must not want you enough or I would be doing more. So I never let myself dream about you. Every Mother’s Day I cried. For 26 years I cried but pretended I was ok. For 18 years we were hopeful. But I still never dreamt about you. I could never have dreamt I would end up with you. Day 5 Post-Op I started my day off with another Protein2O. I am so sick of them. They're just not good and take me all day to drink because I hate them. 😅 So I've only had one today instead of my usual two. I was supposed to go on a walk with my husband at the park, but after showering and getting ready, I really didn't feel great. I felt similar to how I felt at the beginning of the LRD – lightheaded, weak, bleh. (It probably doesn't help that I've had hardly any calories.) So I laid down for a few hours, which I guess helped. Went to church and skipped communion even though I'm sure I could tolerate a wafer, but I figured I would play it safe. Went to QuikTrip and got this zero sugar BodyArmour. It's okay, definitely would not get again. Vacuumed the whole bedroom super thoroughly with my new fancy Shark vacuum. Now I'm just lounging around, dreaming about food. I'm so tired of liquids.

✨️VULNERABLE POST ✨️ It's hard to articulate an answer when someone asks, "How do you feel?" Well, if you asked the girl in the green dress, she would describe the pride and sense of accomplishment that was felt. This girl who is buying dresses off Amazon now and not requiring to shop in the plus size section and hope to fit in the biggest size in the store. The girl in the green dress would gush at how different life is, how easier it is to move, and how cool it is to cross her legs with ease. She would recognize the girl in the mirror looks so much smaller than the girl in the brown dress. She is delighted. The girl in the biker shorts would express worry and disappointment to the same question. As she looks in the same mirror, she is nervous that her biggest insecurity is still the focal point of her body, for others to stare and judge as she does to her own self. Her legs. She would tell you that the girl in the multicolored shorts looked no different and she has fear that no matter what steps are taken, her legs would always remain such an eye sore. The picture in the green dress and the picture in biker shorts were taken minutes a part. While 98% of the time I see, feel, notice, and feel pride in the progress that I have made, there are moments where I feel like I still look the exact same. The biggest difference is that I don't hide anymore. I don't deprive myself of clothes or experiences based on my body. That didn't come from surgery, my friends, that came from therapy. Let us be kind to ourselves, kind and honest. Additionally, don't confuse my honesty and transparency with struggling. I'm fantastic. The pic on the left is from 7 years ago. I wasn’t quite at my highest weight then, but I was definitely obese and unhealthy. The pic on the right is from yesterday. I’ve slowly lost a few more pounds over the last few months. I’m now at a grand total of *drum roll* 128 pounds gone for good. I’ve also been going to therapy for the past year plus, and it’s helped to open up things…things that I’ve buried, forgotten about, or ignored. And I’m good with that. I no longer recognize the woman on the left; not just because of the weight…but because of all the baggage that came along with it. My weight was a culmination of unhappiness and depression. I continue to grow and thrive every single day, and am grateful for that. I’m grateful for my health. Day 4 Post-Op I am doing so badly at getting my recommended amount of fluids in. 😓 How am I supposed to get 64 oz. in when I'm full off a few ounces? I guess it'll just get easier with time. I had two Protein2O waters, a small Gatorade Zero, 2 tropical popsicles, and now I'm sipping on beef broth. All the gas seems to have dissipated and I feel like I have an appetite. I can't wait to have yogurt, pudding, and soup next week. My mother-in-law and I went to Walmart to get all of that stuff and that trip wore me out. That was my first real walk since surgery. I can feel my belly button incision more now after that, which is odd. Like a tenderness. Nothing that would make me take the oxycodone/acetaminophen syrup they gave me. (I haven't even touched that at all.) My husband and I are doing our usual Friday night of watching stupid B-horror films. I wish I had a bowl of popcorn right now. 😩

🔑Consistency is key🔑 I have no intention of becoming a "gym-rat" or feeling the need to keep doing things I don't like doing just to see results. I do, however, intend to choose to move my body in a mindful way that serves my body & mental health on a daily basis. What that looks like changes from day to day, but one thing that doesn't change is the consistency and promise I've made to myself to participate in mindful movement. Every single day! Today, that looks like hula-hooping/fitness hoop & free weights while I'm out of town at the family farm. It was important for me to maintain my promise to myself, even when having a weekend away - so I packed up my weights and fitness hoop and ensured I was set up for success. Not giving a reason to bail on myself was important. If I didn't bring them, sure, there's other things I could do to keep active. But there's also that feeling of "well, I packed and hauled these things here, might as well use them or else my husband may tease me for over-packing" and I don't want to give him that satisfaction of being right. (I'm a notorious over-packer when going out of town... should I bring 2 ballgowns or 3?) It's not always easy. And I still constantly debate with myself; trying to think of reasons why I don't feel like doing anything that day. And yes, we can definitely have days off. But if you find things to do that are fun and don't feel like 'work', then the debate becomes easier to manage - and follow-through. Movement doesn't have to be in the traditional sense of "working out". Go for a long walk, dance in the living room, wrestle with the kids, do some good yard/house work and get that blood pumping! Showing up for myself isn't always easy. 📌05/10/2024 I am busting out of this joint! I’m keeping all fluids down, four ounces every hour or one ounce every 15 minutes. Have been dealing with some nausea, but Zofran takes care of that. I am incredibly sour all over my belly. But that’s to be expected. Met with the surgeon just a little while ago and he’s very happy with my fluid intake. And he is comfortable with sending me home! He gave me the option to stay one more night, but I want they home and get settled in for the next week.
