Feelings Friday ~~~ A phrase that gets shared quite often in my therapeutic dialogue is " Love and allow". Love yourself, your peace, your sanity, and your tranquility enough to allow others their own journey. A large part of our emotional frustration and strife is immersed in our external world, not matching our internal expectations. Disappointment, hurt, and judgments are a side effect of this mismatch. Somehow, placing a category and label helps us nominalize the emotional disconnect. We are only responsible and in direct control of one person in this life, you. Even when we have children or perhaps, especially after you have raised a child, are you made more aware that control over another is an illusion. ♡ Consider for a moment if you were able to direct your attention and expectations only towards self, what freedom may occur emotionally. Developing and expanding your knowledge, skills, and understanding, instead of competing AGAINST another. Feelings Friday `¿ What makes us buy into the notion our moods have to be random or a result of circumstances? What if we began to tinker and toy with the concept that our moods are within our influence and control, we are empowered to determine our emotional disposition. I have a conversation with many people about how their mood does not bring with it license to be a putz or jerkoff to someone else. Their mood is their issue, and there isn't anyone else responsible for dealing with it. As a point of fact, if others around you are subjected to the repercussions of your moods, it would be a testament to your failure and inability to deal with your ill mood to begin with. Similarly to learning that certain foods affect you and your physical health, we can expand our awareness to our emotional well-being, too. Make the time to Take the time and allow yourself to become curious and explore your emotional command. We have options and strategies to help in anger and rage, in melancholy and depression. Moods are pliable and adjustable. they become an issue of awareness and recognition. ♡ I am not going to sit here and lecture anyone on shoulda, woulda, coulda of emotional flexibility and command, as I know I will continually be a work in progress, however I can share with you that awareness of your triggers and reaction is a step in your empowerment and that for me is where a difference can be germinated. PMA (positive mental attitude) has carried me through, sustained my level of calm and reasoning, through more tumultuous times than I can remember. The funny ( not really) part being, I suspect that everyone knows deep within that they exert that control over their own well-being. It is easier to keep blaming our external world and others for our circumstances, for we bear no responsibility and continue the victim card. ♡ My choice is to write of the positive approach, the encouraging words to bring about a curiosity in your life. With the likes of so many gurus and channelers, medical professionals, and mind coaches, all supporting and compelling you to take back control over your own life, to become tue captain, director, and only lead role in your own existence. The advantage of using trance therapy as a resource in your transformation, by its very nature, suspends and bypasses the critical factor of our conscious mind. We get to practice in an open, safe, and imaginary place, revivifying places and neurons that have been dormant. May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month. Since Baby #2, I have had three anxiety attacks, at the time coming out of no where. Things I thought I could control where OUT of my control. I have given myself grace and space during this major transition for my own personal physical/spiritual/emotional/mental transition, a transition that impacts my immediate family, and a transition that impacts our newest addition. Things I did realize I could control (when I took a step back): my sleep habits, nutrition choices, hydration status, my exercise/movement, journal, meditate, talking to loved ones, medical appointments (yes, for myself), and (most of all) my inner critic's voice. This then leads the cascade of other things that I talk about in practice - hormones, neurotransmitters, gut health. This quote came up during this time, and really struck me. I have been HYPER focused about myself as a professional, community member, and my next goals. Feelings Friday Anger 😡 We are all familiar with the feeling of anger, in varying degrees. However, anger can have a stigma attached to it as a ‘bad emotion’. It is natural for us to feel anger at different points in our lives but that anger has to be contained in a healthy way to stop it from spilling out to others or causing damage to ourselves. Anger can be felt in the body as a bodily sensation or in our minds or both. There is often a stigma attached to the feeling of anger. Ways of handling anger… 😡 Take a step away from the situation. Acting rashly can cause damage so take a step back returning to the situation once you have calmed and allowed the emotion to subside a little 🚫 😡 Meditation and Breathwork 🧘‍♂️ 😡 working on communication skills with those around you to be able to express emotions in a way that reducing angry situations. Coming up with a code word for when you are feeling angry could also work. (Think of the traffic light system maybe?) 🗣️ 😡 Exercise can be a great way of managing anger. It gives you a focus for the anger sensations. Great examples would be boxing, running, walking or swimming 🥊 😡 Anger Icebergs- with an iceberg all we a see is the tip, not what is under the water line. It is often the case with anger, we can see the anger but often not the root cause of this and what is happening for the person under the surface. This is where therapy could be useful 🏔️ 😡 Grounding techniques. Having a fidget toy, stress ball, ball of paper to screw up, a bouncy ball to use. Something physical to use as a tool to control anger. This could be part of a ‘calming kit’ that you could put together with lots of tools to help. 🎾 😡 Express your anger. Keep a journal or diary of when you feel angry. Write a letter to anger. Sadness is defined as emotional pain often associated with and characterised by feelings of sorrow, despair, grief, disappointment, loss, disadvantage, overwhelm and helplessness. Many people associate tears or crying with the feeling of sadness. Feeling sad is a natural human emotion to feel, especially when something upsetting has occurred in your life such as a bereavement or a disappointment in life. Feelings Friday ◇° Todays writing is centered on the simple concept that you have control and the absolute last say in how you want to feel and experience life. Who you want to be, what you become, or what emotional relationship you have with self is controlled and driven by the power of you. An important question almost every single person gets asked, sitting in the proverbial therapy chair, by me, is "What is holding you back from achieving that which you want?". Now, the natural tendency, for almost everyone, is to answer with the "I don't know" automatic response. Once we blow past that iniria BS, we can uncover, like an archeologist sweeping away granules of the sand to unbury an artifact, the closer reasons. In many cases, the inhibitors are disassociated, external catalysts. As an example, in many cases of people who suffer in high anxiety, it is common for the existence of a strong, persistent internal dialogue to be the instigator and warden. With a little investigation, we find out that it is usually not even their voice that is doing the damages, and when we begin to open up the possibilities of different modalities, the power or potency starts to change as well. ♡ "If it is meant to be it is up to me" takes on a very different meaning when you acknowledge that you are always the pilot in command of your own journey. Feelings Friday wants you to consider what is your inner dialogue is actually saying? If you practice noticing that inner voice, you can begin making a conscious effort to transform it into something far more positive. Energy goes where intention goes, so the more we declare we are too busy, the less time we have. So the more we declare that work is drudgery, the worse we feel. And when we continually tell ourselves we have no choice, the harder it becomes to make changes. I struggled for a long time with negative self talk, inside and outside my body. And one thing I've really worked on is to not only think more positively, but to use more positive words in my own dialogue. The more I made a conscious effort to bring in positive sentences about myself and my life, the more I began to believe them automatically. So the more I began saying out loud and even to others "great opportunities are opening for more" and "life is great" the more opportunities came and the better I felt. Hello all 👋 For today’s Feelings Friday, we are feeling 😴 LAZY 😴 Towards the end of the semester it can be easy to lose focus and motivation. Sometimes you might find yourself not feeling like doing anything at all. While it's important to keep your eye on the prize (you're almost done the semester!!) it's also important to give yourself time to recharge and take a break. Tips from the counseling center: 1. Consider if what you're feeling is truly "lazy" or if it might better be thought of as burned out, exhausted, stressed or depressed. Sometimes we can attach a negative label like "lazy" to ourselves when truly our mind and body are trying to send us the message that we need a break or are overwhelmed. 2. Reframe how you think of self care and giving yourself time to relax. It is not "lazy" to make sure that you have downtime where you can just unwind. 3. Question our grind culture that prizes constantly overworking and pushing yourself. Listen to your body and mind and know your limits. ❤️❤️ #broncsneverridealone #feelingsfriday

Feelings Friday *°` Watching the sunrise while enjoying my coffee this morning, hearing the snore from the dog, and becoming disturbed with a light bulb that is on its last legs, I realized something important for me. We never get it right. That is not a negative or defeatist attitude I am prompting, but a cathartic exhale. How many times have I felt the pressure from an expectation, absurdly not even my own most likely, where I should be in career, income status, physique, emotional maturity, retirement planning, stamina or relationship development? My insecurities are propagated by the propaganda of advertising, whispering into my gray matter, where I am lacking, failing, or suffering, and how they can make it better. My freedom emotionally is knowing I only need to be present in this moment, enjoying the too sweet coffee, looking through my corrective lenses at a visual experience which is still amazing, which happens every single day but mostly goes unnoticed, hearing the wonderment and orchestra of a faithful pet too spoiled and not excercised enough, through double glazed panes of glass, from a comfortable couch, under a sturdy roof, breathing clean air. Hello all 👋 For today’s Feelings Friday, we are feeling 🤷 AMBIVALENT 🤷 It is not easy to feel stuck, vacillating between conflicting emotions or feeling hesitant about which decision to choose. Sometimes it can seem safest to not take any decisive action at all or not deal with your conflicting emotions. Tips from the counseling center: 1. Make a pros and cons list for each option that you're trying to decide between. Consider which option has the most pros? The most cons? Do any of the pros or cons have more weight in your decision than others? 2. Remember that is it absolutely normal to have mixed or conflicting feelings. Giving voice to your feelings and identifying where they are coming from can help you be in tune with your authentic emotional experience. 3. There is nothing wrong with taking the time to think through decisions carefully and deliberately. However, remind yourself that inaction is still making a choice. Often the hardest part of big life decisions is making the choice and getting started. ❤️❤️ #broncsneverridealone #feelingsfriday
