Reden wir über Klassiker 📖 Der Herr der Ringe - ich habe die wunderschöne Gesamtausgabe in der Übersetzung von Margaret Carroux im Regal, da mir die neue Übersetzung nicht so richtig gut gefällt. Was sagt man nun also über eines der erfolgreichsten Werke des 20. Jahrhunderts, das nicht schon hundert Mal so erörtert wurde? Ich habe damals tatsächlich die Filme zuerst gesehen, Jahre bevor ich mich an die drei Teile des Buches gewagt habe - und ich kann nur jedem empfehlen, ob Fantasy-Fan oder nicht, die einmal in diese Welt einzutauchen, einmal die Gefährten quer durch #Mittelerde, durch Hobbingen und Bruchtal bis zum Schicksalsberg zu begleiten, denn die Filme konnten naturgemäss nur einen Bruchteil des Zaubers und der Genialität einfangen, die J. R. R. Tolkien ausmacht. Es gibt hunderte, vielleicht tausende Funfacts zu diesem Buch und seiner Entstehung, Hintergrundwissen zu den Figuren und Welten, den Sprachen und dem unglaublichen #Silmarillion, die die Geschichte noch vielschichtiger machen, noch weitschweifender, noch monumentaler. Today we get assistance from little Jason to write our review! ✨ Ninth house is a dark academia novel by Leigh Bardugo l, who gave us the grishaverse (which I honestly love so much). The book tells the tale of Alex Stern, a girl who has been tasked with monitoring the mysterious activities of Yale's secret societies - well-known haunts of the rich and powerful. Alex is a survivor of a dark event and has the ability to see the dead... And let me tell you, this one is a RIDE! 👻 Leigh has such a way to go about her words, and let me tell you, it is effective! Every character feels and sounds like a real person, and Alex is probably my newest favorite characters. Each plot thread is carefully laid out in front of you in a way that is so enthralling, so alluring and we can't help but just want to finish the story as soon as we can. The world building is also fantastic, I mean I could almost touch Yale's walls through Leigh's descriptions! The lore and mystic elements all fit together so nicely one might almost believe they're real! And the mystery at hand (yes, this one's a mystery! 😜) is so rewarding and engaging! The one thing I might have to warn about here is the violence, there are instances in the story where it can be triggered for some, so beware of it! I can't really say much about this one without spoiling the surprises but believe me... Novi roman Harlana Cobena uzbudljiv je i napet, a priča koju nam priča zamršena, ispunjena brojnim pitanjima na koja je potrebno pronaći odgovore. Zapetljana radnja i brojni likovi osiguravaju da se te odgovore ne može naći brzo, ali nam daju pregršt materijala iz kojih možemo krojiti vlastite teorije o tome što se zapravo dogodilo (što je u biti zabavno, zar ne?). Tema vojnika koji pate od PTSP-a dodatni je element koji se provlači kroz radnju ovog romana, a koji, kako je i sam autor spomenuo u zahvalama na kraju romana, pokušava (bar donekle) podići svijest o tome s čim se vojnici povratnici moraju boriti svakog dana, nakon što sve one stvarne borbe u kojima su sudjelovali prestanu. Žanrovskim se piscima vrlo često zamjera to da su im svi romani 'na istu foru'. To ponekad zna biti slučaj, ali ne i kod Cobena: on, unatoč tome što u svaki svoj roman doda iste sastojke, od tih sastojaka na kraju svaki put skuha neko sasvim drugačije književno jelo. Misterij, krimić, triler, akcijski roman - ova je knjiga sve to, i više. Last weekend, I finished reading this classic book. It was quite unusual and unlike any that I had read till date. It had been on my 'To be read' list ever since I read a few pages in a bookstore several years ago. However, I chose to buy another book then, and it wasn't until last month that I finally decided to buy it. Despite being a lover of fiction, rather unusually, this was the first work of fiction that I read this year. That may have contributed greatly to my reading experience as I literally devoured the book and finished it within a couple of days. (It is relatively short, just about a hundred odd pages long) It was also the first book by Hemingway that I read. The title is apt as the old man- Santiago, and the sea, form the crux of the story. In many ways it is a story of perseverance and a fight against all odds. Having been extremely unlucky for eighty-four days in a row, not having caught anything worthwhile, Santiago sets out deep into the sea on the eighty-fifth day, with an unparalleled determination. While on the shore, he has only a boy for company, who too had been asked by his parents to stop accompanying the old man to sea due to his unlucky streak. Under these circumstances, Santiago manages to hook a fish, a significant one at that. However, instead of pulling it towards him, it is he who gets pulled along by the fish. What happens subsequently forms the subject matter of the rest of the book. While I must admit that I honestly found many of the fishing-related terms to be incomprehensible, the overall experience of reading this book was memorable. There are no chapters in the book. It is one long story. At many instances, you're likely to be rooting for the protagonist, even praying for his success, as on some level you can connect with him. We have all had setbacks at some or the other point of time in life, which may explain why we feel a certain connect with Santiago's struggle. I recommend this book if you are looking for a short, yet memorable read to inspire you.

✨ Book Review ✨ Empire of Gold by S. A. Chakraborty ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The final book in the Daevabad Trilogy, which concludes the story of Nahri, Ali, and Dara ❤️ The story flows straight on from book two and the destruction that Banu Manizheh and her resurrected Afshin Dara brought to Daevabad. Nahri and Ali are now safely away from Daevabad and the civil war and have ended up in the human world of Cairo, but they are still not safe and face difficult choices of their own. Will they be able to get back to Daevabad and save the ones they love? I absolutely adore this world and its characters. Although it took me a while to finish this book, it was worth it! I found the magical system is so well written and intricate, and I loved the introduction of the Marids. I think it introduced another dimension to Ali’s character and I was glad we got to explore it more. The character development continued in this book and I felt like each main character grew into the leaders they are, I was glad that Dara got some form of redemption arc, although I do feel that it let down the people of Daevabad slightly with him leaving. The side characters were well placed and each brought that little bit extra to the story line. Although this is in my usual genre, it is not one I would usually go for as minimal dragon involvement! I’m so glad I read them and would definitely recommend picking them up! 📚

I think this one is my favourite, Lola and Aidan were so lovely and together they were even better 🩷 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨ Crazy in Paradise ✨ This was a novella about Paige and Mac, it could have easily been a full story. I was so invested in them! They crash land on a deserted island, Paige is ‘high maintenance’ and Mac is a ‘go with the flow’ kind of man. They say opposites attract and they really do! Und doch ist da noch etwas anderes, ein Prickeln, das sie einfach nicht leugnen können. Nach einer unvergesslichen Nacht treffen sie eine Vereinbarung: Sie werden zu Feinden mit gewissen Vorzügen. Die Regeln sind einfach: keine Eifersucht, keine Bedingungen, kein Verlieben. Jules und Josh merken allerdings schnell, wie süchtig sie danach sind, dass zwischen ihnen die Funken ̶ und die Fetzen ̶ fliegen ... ——————————————— Meine Meinung: Ich habe dieses Buch geliebt, auch wenn es nicht zu meinem Lieblingsteil wurde. Das ist immer noch der 2. Teil🥰 Jules und Josh waren einfach perfekt und ich hab diesen Enemies to Lovers Trope so sehr geliebt, da er auch einfach perfekt umgesetzt ist😊 Jules und Josh waren mir auch beide sehr sympathisch und meiner Meinung nach, war die Beziehung der beiden auch sehr realistisch gehalten🤍 Ich wollte das Buch echt nicht aus der Hand legen. Für mich war durchgehend eine gewisse Spannung da. Das Buch hatte auch ordentlich spice, was mir auch echt gut gefallen hat🫣 Allerdings kam mir dieser Teil viel länger vor, wie der erste und zweite Teil.. Keine Ahnung woran das lag. Ich fand es auch gut nochmal etwas über Alex und Joshs Freundschaft zu hören, bzw was daraus nach Ende des 1. und 2. Bands geworden ist.. Der Schreibstil war flüssig und einfach zu verstehen. //LESEMONAT// SIE KANN DICH HÖREN (4/5) Gelungene Fortsetzung des Spannungsromans "Wenn sie wüsste", das ähnlich wie das Konzept des Vorgängers funktioniert und eine sehr unterhaltsame, leicht zu lesende und spannende Lektüre war. KRÄHENTAGE (4,5/5) Überraschender vielschichtiger und genial konstruierter Thriller über eine neue Ermittlungseinheit, die mit ihren ersten Fall konfrontiert wird und es direkt mit einem besonders perfiden Serienmörder zu tun bekommt, dessen Opfer mysteriöserweise noch kurz nach ihrem Ableben in der Öffentlichkeit gesehen werden. Düster, undurchsichtig und mit interessanten Charakteren versehen, ist "Krähentage" hoffentlich der Auftakt einer neuen Reihe, denn von dieser Einheit will ich auf jeden Fall noch mehr lesen. WENN DAS NOCH GEHT, KANN ES NICHT SO SCHLIMM SEIN (ohne Bewertung) Benjamin Maack hat ein berührendes, intensives und unglaublich emotionales Buch geschrieben, aber ich möchte es nicht bewerten, da der Autor über seine eigenen Depressionserfahrungen schreibt und ich mich seltsam dabei fühle so etwas zutiefst Persönliches mit Sternen zu bewerten. Ich kann nur sagen, dass Maacks Worte seine Leser:innen ins Herz treffen werden, Außenstehenden aber vor allem auch Betroffenen, weil vieles einfach auf den Punkt gebracht wurde und auch, wenn eben vieles seinen eigenen persönlichen Erfahrungen zu Grunde liegt, fühlt man mit. Alles, intensiv und manchmal auch zu viel. WENN WORTE TÖTEN (4/5) im zweiten Bild (Band 3) Reihen mittendrin kann ich anscheinend besonders gut beginnen, so auch hier bei Anthony Horowitzs drittem Teil "Wenn Worte töten" um den ehemaligen Scotland Yard Ermittler Daniel Hawthorne, der nun als Privatdetektiv und Polizeiberater Fälle löst. Begleitet wird er von Anthony Horowitz Alter Ego, der Bücher über Hawthornes Fälle schreibt. Dieses Mal führt ihr Weg zu einem Literaturfestival auf eine englische Insel, um eigentlich ein neues gemeinsames Buch zu promoten. Überschattet wird das Ganze allerdings von einem Mord und die beiden nehmen die Ermittlungen auf. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Her fiancé thinks her interest in dead people is a bit weird, but he’s willing to let it slide, and together, they purchase a sprawling acreage. It’s supposed to be their dream home. But Nina’s unsettled. Everything about the house feels too familiar to be a coincidence. She does some digging and learns that the house was the site of a supposed murder. That’s why the acreage feels so familiar – Nina listened to the podcast episode. But the episode didn’t mention the hidden room Nina discovered. It didn’t mention the missing girl’s secret diaries. Something happened here. Something darker than anyone knows. And Nina’s determined to figure it out… even if it means looking into her fiancé’s past and discovering why he knows more about the house than he’s letting on. 🩸Thoughts: I chose to read this as the blurb had me intrigued . Nina sounds just as intrigued by true crime as I am. The plot was solid, with plenty of mystery and creepiness to go around. Like many thrillers we have the toxic characters, the cunning and gaslighting vibes, and of course, the secrets. It doesnt have that repetitive feeling for the majority of the book, although Wills obsession felt almost too obsessive. But overall everything is fast paced and keeps the pages turning. It was such a twist seeing all of the characters past and present interconnected in some way.
