One of the main benefits of tummy time is the strengthening of the neck, shoulder, and arm muscles. As little ones lift their heads and push up with their arms, they build the muscle strength and coordination necessary for milestones such as rolling over, sitting up, and eventually crawling. 👶🏼 Tummy time is also essential for preventing positional plagiocephaly, commonly known as flat head syndrome. When little one’s spend too much time on their backs, the pressure on the back of their heads can cause flat spots to develop. Being in a different position allows little one’s to experience their environment in new ways, encouraging visual and spatial awareness. They learn to track objects with their eyes and reach out for toys, which can enhance hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It can be a great bonding experience too as you engage with them. 😊
What a weekend we experienced! Thursday evening a hurricane/tornado ripped through our city leaving majority of us without power or electricity. We slept without power Thursday night, went over to our neighbor’s house with a backup generator Friday and then packed up and went to stay with our Aunt for three next few days. Luckily we have power back late last night and now safely back in our own home. Imagine if mama went into labor this weekend?? She didn’t though 🙏🏼. While we were fortunate to have power back many are still without power, even Isla’s school. Mama took advantage that Isla is home (Sophie went to school) and had a home photoshoot.
