Blessed Beltane! I honestly didn’t have the bandwidth to do much this year, and I felt crappy about that, because Beltane was the first Sabbat I celebrated with my family all the way back in 2017 when I was just a baby witch! But one of the things I love the most about this spiritual path is the lack of dogma, the freedom to do what works and ditch the rest, without any expectations. So while our celebrations were low-key this year, we still fully engaged in the beauty of Beltane. Strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast seems like such a simple thing, but it’s a ritual in and of itself. Dancing around a fire didn’t happen this year, but dancing in a parking lot with friends DID happen. And we cleansed our space and left out offerings for the fae. As you do. So we welcome the warm, longer days ahead with gratitude! . . . . . #beltane #beltaine #beltaneblessings #beltanefirefestival #beltaneritual #beltanefire #beltanesabbat #turningofthewheel

This land is heavily veiled. You'd be foolish to think you can take a trip to a space and unlock its deepest wisdom in a couple of days—not just here, but in any country. I was explaining to a friend the other day, that people often believe they know the land I stand upon today, but in reality, they don't truly understand it. Permission to fully connect with any land requires dedication, consistency, and loyalty. The land itself often chooses who moves there, through love and other sacred connections. We hear stories of this process frequently. Yet, the connection is often a slow burn because it demands trust. I often say that here you must sit with it through its cold, wet, grey days and endure its 65mph winds to truly demonstrate your devotion. 😉🤣 It's a wild ride that's for sure. Every year, we welcome guests in Cornwall—possibly more than in many other places. And every year, I hear them say they adore it here and would move in a heartbeat! I smile and respond, 'Come spend a winter here, my friend. Huddle through a very wet and wild spring, and then see how you feel.' As we celebrate Beltane today, consider this your reminder: Your feet made deliberate steps towards the land you live upon for a reason. Tune into it and adore it as you do the places you travel to. There is magic to be found in all places and spaces. To those who adore their land as I do, this post is a gentle nod to you. I see you, I feel your love for this place, and it does not go unnoticed.🌿🌎✨ Blessed Beltane & Oceans of Love Cx . . #peace #beltane #mistressofmagic #daughtersofthecosmos #seasons #turningofthewheel #lineage #growth #Alchemy #landsteward #heartofenchantment

Happy May Day!! There are many traditions associated with the Beltane fire, one of my favorites is the 9 sacred woods thy are traditionally burned. They are the first mince trees of the the Ogham tree calendar. Each type has a special meaning and a mythical purpose. Inspired by that tradition, (but not being celtic myself) we came up with 11 different species of tree that were important to our family and that are available in our area. We made these little bundles of sticks and all placed them into the fire. I geek out on stuff like this- I love researching ethnobotany and the associations different cultures have with various plants. It was also a simple and satisfying way to observe a tradition in our own way.

Beltane blessings to all who celebrate this season🧡 🔥 🧡 As the wheel of the year continues its sacred turning of the seasons. Spring gives way to summer’s full bloom and the fertility of the land is at its height, we find ourselves at Beltane. An ancient festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years. A time of fertility, fire, and celebration. It’s a symbolic letting go of the darkness and a time to honor the beauty of spring. Beltane is the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice as is also known as the fire festival 🔥 Beltane is traditionally celebrated with singing, bonfires, flowers, maypole dancing, and rituals to honor the fertility of the land. So whether you’re dancing around a fire, gathering flowers, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of the world around you, I wish you a blessed Beltane! #beltane #mayday #firefestival #turningofthewheel #beltaneblessings

✨Beltane Blessings ✨ Beltane, celebrated on May Day is the mid point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice - a fertility festival to welcome the start of Summer and the fertile months of the year - hence the phallic May pole getting inserted into the Earth before the Maypole dance. I’m interested to see that Leeds Civic Hall are turning their lights purple tonight to mark the occasion. It’s nice to see the old ways remembered/returning 💜 I’m off to run my cattle through the fire to encourage a fertile breeding season 🐄🐑 Only joking. However, I will be taking some time to think about what I hope to grow over the coming months, considering where I want to channel my fires of passion and honing in on where I can shine my light. Hope it’s a bright and beautiful season for you ☀️🪻💐🌷🌻 #beltane #turningofthewheel #festival #fire #intention #blessings

B E L T A N E Blessings on this Beltane. Half way between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. A time to celebrate the aliveness and beauty of Mother Earth. A time to welcome the beginning of Summer and the abundance before us. A time full of promise and hope. I invite you to go outside, feel your feet on the earth. Breathe in the air and sense the magic that is awakening around you. Maybe dance or drum around a fire or candle. Lay offerings to the fae folk of honey and jam. Create a daisy or dandelion crown and be the queen of your kingdom. Have fun and connect back to the maiden within. Beltane Blessing to all ..... Like all of the Wheel of Year sabbat celebrations, Beltane was a time for merry making and feasting , tradition is to write a wish upon a ribbon and tie it a to a tree, in the hopes that the gods would grant them. Hawthorn, ash, thorn and sycamore trees were believed to be the best trees for making wishes. #beltaneblessings #beltane2024 #wishes #celebrations #fire #rebirth #turningofthewheel #ai #witchlife #witchvibes

#Repost @wineberryadventurescouts ・・・ I was thinking about May Day flowers and decided that I wanted to make a grown up May Day bouquet for moms. (See my earlier posts for a more traditional one that my kids make every year) What I came up with are Kohakutou candies, studded with flowers, tucked into little jars and hung from door knobs. These impressive Japanese candies are actually super easy to make, and who doesn’t like edible flower crystals?? You can mix these up in a few minutes, but they do need several days drying time so don’t try to make them the same day you need them. ½ cup water A pinch of your favorite herbal tea (I used a blend from @theherbologyfaerie) 1 tsp agar agar powder 1 cup sugar Edible flowers (I used violets and lilacs) Let the tea steep in the water. I did this cold so I didn’t have to cook it down again, but you could also heat and cool. Strain and reserve 1/2 cup of liquid. Sprinkle agar over cold tea and stir until dissolved. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Cool over medium heat for 5 minutes until thickened. Pour into a flat shallow heat proof container so that it’s 1/2-1 inch thick (a glass leftover dish works well) sprinkle the flowers over. Allow to cool at room temperature and then cover and put in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Pop the jell out of the dish and cut and tear into Crystal like pieces. I cut long strips and then tear them into shorter pieces and cut some facets. Lay the crystals in parchment to dry. You can squish the offcuts into little piles. Let them sit out 3-5 days loosely covered until they form a hard crust. Then pop into a jar and gift! Bright blessings this May Eve As the sun sets tonight we reach the fire festival of Beltane, another turning of the wheel making the peak of spring and the beginning of summer. This is a beautiful festival celebrating fertility, the loving and productive union of man and woman, the Horned God and the Earth Goddess. It was important to our ancestors that new life be born into the world, and that the land was fertile enough to furnish us with the crops needed to sustain our bodies over the year and through the winter. Where do you want more fertility right now? For some, they long for a baby. For others, they have hopes and dreams that could do with fertile ground in which to grow and bear fruit. This is the perfect time to dream of what you want, and take action towards it. Sending you all fertile blessings this Beltane ✨ #sacredcrafting #beltane #beltaine #turningofthewheel #sabbat #firefestival #ceremony #fertility #honouring #celebration #oldways #shamanicpractitioner #nature #spring #wheeloftheyear #festival

Bright Blessings this Beltane - May Eve Tonight as the sun sets we reach a new turn of the wheel, the great fire festival of Beltane - honouring the Celtic Sun God Bel with fire (‘Tein’). This tradition has been maintained for centuries: bonfires were lit, gathered around, and jumped over in a night of merriment and revelry. The following day, people would dance around a Maypole - they still do today. The entwining red and white ribbons represented the union of man and woman, and the union of the Horned God with the Earth Goddess. This celebrates and encourages the fertility of the soil, the land, and the earth herself. This ritual to celebrate fertility was a prayer for fertile crops and an abundant harvest in the months to come. We too can tap into this energy, asking for the fertility of our plans, projects and dreams. Energy at this time is rising, we usher in greater life force with the longer days, and so this is an excellent time to increase our efforts and actions towards our goals. What is it that you dream of? I hope you enjoy the energies of this beautiful time ✨ Image Credit: Lucy McLeod - an ancient Hawthorn tree in full bloom #sacredcrafting #beltane #beltaine #turningofthewheel #sabbat #firefestival #ceremony #fertility #honouring #celebration #oldways #shamanicpractitioner #nature #spring #mayeve #festival #wheeloftheyear

Embracing the wisdom of Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere As we welcome the turning of the wheel of the year and the arrival of the sacred festival of Samhain, I am reminded of the rich history and traditions that have been passed down through generations in different cultures. For us in the southern hemisphere, Samhain falls on April 30th/May 1st. In the northern hemisphere it falls on 31st October/November 1st. This ancient festival marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year, a time when the veil between the worlds is thin and we can connect with our ancestors and spirit guides. In Slavic cultures, Samhain is known as Dziady and is a time to honor the spirits of the dead and seek guidance from the ancestors. In Celtic traditions, it is a time to celebrate the goddess Cerridwen and her cauldron of transformation, as well as the god Samhain, who rules over the winter months. In the Balkan cultures, this time of year is celebrated with rituals and offerings to honor the spirits of the land and the ancestors. Although it is marked differently in different areas of the Balkans, the intention remains the same, to honour our ancestors and the seasonal changes. My childhood memories, consisted of visiting cemeteries to honour our departed loved ones by offering, sweets, flowers, cigarettes(if they were smokers), alcohol and even paying a band to play the departed favourite song at their resting place. Let us light a candle for our ancestors, speak their names into the night, and feel their loving presence surround us. In this moment of stillness and reverence, may we find peace in knowing that we are never alone, for the wisdom of the ages flows through our veins. Let us honour Mother Earth and the seasonal changes. This connection to the earth and the elements is a reminder of our deep connection to nature and the cycles of life and death. How will you honour the turning of the wheel this Samhain? #samhain #southernhemispheresamhain #turningofthewheel #wheeloftheyear

Fire Cooked Fairy Cakes for May Day! We always try to have a big bonfire on May Day, often the first one we’ve had in a while and the first warm weather fire of the year. Bonfires are a traditional part of May Day celebrations in many places. They are also good fun to cool over! We used a boxed gf cake mix- anything in the muffin/cupcake family should work. We also added edible flower petal confetti to make extra springy! The cakes then got wrapped in big edible curly dock leaves and cooked on a stone at the edge of the fire. This year I think I’m going to try them on a grate instead because I’m not sure the stone kept the temperature as much as I thought it would. The cakes tasted delicious and just a little smoky. One of the superstitions around May Day or Beltane is to cook simple cakes in the fire and leave some as an offering for the fairies, so of course we hedged our bets and let some by the elderberry trees!

Happy Earth Day!!! I cannot claim credit for this project, it was my son’s idea several years ago. When I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate Earth Day he said he wanted to make a cake for the trees. (He is very cake focused.. lol) We decided that the type of cake a tree would like would be made out of compost and things that trees like with a little decoration. He was and continues to be a champion mud pie maker, so we just adapted his usual process slightly by using compost. You can add coffee grounds, eggshells, comfrey leaves (or any leaf that will decompose and me nutritious) or even scraps from your compost bin. Arrange the layers of your cake in a bowl or tin and make sure the compost is quite damp so it sticks everything together. Then turn your cake out at the base of a tree. This first time we did this we dug a hole for the cake to fit in, but since tree roots are delicate and often near the surface I don’t recommend doing that. This year we made a cake for our almond tree which had suffered quite a bit from the cicadas that came through a few years go and needed a serious pruning this year. I hope it bounces back after enjoying it’s cake! Make a cake for your trees! They’ll appreciate it! The illusion of time is knocking and asking you to take your time and review what that means for you. Yes, it's true that "A goal without a deadline is only a dream." So it's definitely a great idea to write down your goals and put a date on it. Knowing and visually seeing yourself successful. and take it one step at a time towards it. If that time came and past and you didn't make a single step forward, then it's time to reevaluate if you truly want it and if it's in alignment. HOWEVER, if you have been actively pursuing your goals and you not where you want to be yet, it doesn't mean it's time to wave the white flag just yet. Perhaps it's time to meditate and take into accountability what you have/haven't done and ask yourself what changes/steps you can make to move forward successfully. Perhaps you needed more time to prepare yourself for what you are looking to accomplish therefore its taking you longer, but it's well on its way to you. Perhaps there were some fears that changed the pace, and now you're being confronted with the opportunity to overcome those fears so that you can continue on your journey. Redirection is spiritual protection 🙏 #SpiritualGuidance #Goals #TimelineShift #TurningOfTheWheel #Time #Reflections #Illusions #Meditation #AstroEnergy #Astrology

Recycling Bin Drawing Machines This is a great clean out the recycling bin type of project- you can use just about anything. The only thing you really need are dollar store electric toothbrushes, and if you plan ahead you could use an old electric toothbrush that really was destined for the trash. The toothbrushes are a simple way to get a motor for your drawing machine. If you are working with older children, you can also build more complex motors from electrical components, but the toothbrush does the job nicely. So what is a drawing machine and why would you want to build one? In contemporary art, a drawing machine is defined as any sort of apparatus that assists or replaces a human in drawing. Artists have lots of reason for making drawing machines, for one thing one they are fun! Sometimes the artist is making a statement with a drawing machine, sometimes they are really interested in the drawing material or the method of making more so than the final product. I love making these strange little robots with children because they are always delighted to see them wobble around and make a drawing. The picture is from a birthday party where we spread out a giant piece of paper and kids and machines all drew together. Build your own! Tube Knitting with Plarn What you ask is plarn? It’s a combination of the words yarn and plastic, so it’s essentially “yarn” made from discarded plastic grocery bags. Those plastic grocery bags are a scourge on the environment, they always seem to find their way into woods and waterways, where they are often mistaken for food by wildlife. One of the things we like to do to celebrate Earth Day is to make use of materials that are traditionally discarded and/or littering natural areas. This can be from trash collected during clean ups (my first first public sculpture when I was in high school consisted of giant trees made from trash collected during a big clean up!) or trash from your home and school that you can divert from the landfill and make something useful with. Grocery bags are one of my favorite materials to craft with believe it or not, there are a number of different techniques and useful thing that can be made from them. They are also one of the most common types of trash we find mucking up the natural areas around us. Blue Butterfly Pea Bioplastic Sun Catchers! Bioplastic is “a plastic derived from biological substances rather than from petroleum, many types of which are biodegradable.” So in for this project we use gelatin to make a plastic that is completely biodegradable and not harmful to the environment, but is string and rigid the way traditional plastic is. The color is from blue butterfly pea flower powder (the bluest brightest blue of the plant world) beet powder and turmeric. The color holds up really well- a year later these are still as bright as the day we made them. Celebrate the light half of the year outdoors on May the 2nd at 7pm as we welcome Bealtaine with a beautiful guided meditation, fire burning and cacao ceremony 🌼🌿 Bealtaine, marks the beginning of summer in the ancient Celtic calendar. Spiritually, it is a festival of light and fertility, symbolizing the awakening and renewal of nature after winter. It involves lighting fires, which are seen as purifying and bringing energy to encourage growth. Bealtaine rituals celebrate vitality and fertility, both of the land and community, and reflect themes of passion, joy, and hope, as people embrace the lengthening days and warmer temperatures, which facilitate growth and renewal. The festival is deeply intertwined with honoring life, growth, and a connection with nature. €25 per person 🤎🙏😇🌿 #bealtaine #cacaoceremony #meditation #turningofthewheel #bealtainefestival

May Day/ Beltane Herbal Marshmallow Wands for the bonfire! May Day or Beltane is the first day of May and the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. In some places it marks the beginning of summer, in others, mine included, it is the midpoint of spring. It’s still a bit chilly, but wildflowers are starting to bloom and those “spring” vegetables like radish and asparagus are just starting to come to life. In Japan, the relatively modern holiday of Greenery Day is celebrated just after May Day- and I like the idea of a day to celebrate spring, flowers, gardens and being outside. One of the most important parts of European May Day celebrations were bonfires. Livestock were driven between big bonfires to protect them for the summer. This was the time of year that they went out to pasture and people believed they neede protection from fairies & spirits. Whole towns came together to make the fires, and some still do. It was traditional to cook over these fires, cakes and bannock and other traditional foods. To celebrate we always have a May Day bonfire. Its typically just starting to get warm where we live and its a perfect excuse to spend some time outside enjoying the spring weather. To honor the fairies and cook over our own May Day fire, we made these foraged herbal marshmallow wands to toast over the fire. You could use any homemade marshmallow recipe you like and replace the water with a tea made from cleavers, dead nettle and violets (or whatever herbs you have available.) We added a little blue color too because the violet was too diluted to provide much color. Spread them to a thickness of about an inch or so and then cut them out with a star shaped cutter. Next, the best part, spear them onto sticks and toast in the fire! (Just try and do most of your wild gesticulating… errr I mean magic… before they are melty and hot.)

Magic color changing violet lemonade for May Day! Violets are at their best this time of year around us so we pick tons of them (and leave plenty for our pollinator friends too!) and make crafts and recipes. Flowers are an important part of May celebrations historically and people decorated their houses, themselves and their animals. Color changing lemonade is one of our favorites and we make it almost every year. Violets are a pH indicator, so to make this magical drink you’ll actually have to make two beverages and then mix them in front of your adoring fans. We do this by the glass so that every kid gets to perform the magic trick. What is actually happening is that the acid from the lemon is changing the pH of the drink, turning it from purpley blue to bright pink. Every other violet lemonade recipe I have ever seen does this in the pitcher all at once, but where is the fun in that? If you have lots of violets, make some extra violet tea and use it to test the pH of other things- find out what color it turns in the presence of a base! You can also find directions for dying paper with violets and using acids and bases to “paint” it in my Spring Equinox Book. May Day is said to be a fortuitous time to leave gifts and offerings for the fae. To celebrate we always make a point of building some fairy houses and leaving them some spring flowers and baubles. My kids will build fairy houses independently for hours... In fact, maybe I should be leaving a gift for the fairies! They have a fairy village with different types of buildings, an armory (yes those are fairy swords..) and hidden storage bunkers. What more could a fairy need? They spend the day outside being creative and getting fresh air and I don’t need to worry about the fae poisoning my cattle… Traditionally many Beltane rituals were designed to ward off or appease the fairies and prevent them from stealing or damaging dairy products (Also I don’t have any cattle… maybe my coconut milk?) It's a great spring activity with tons of engineering and problem solving benefits which mostly makes up for the occasional garden destruction. Most of the plants that are said to be appealing to fairies are also great pollinator plants- so planting native perennials is another great way to celebrate. In fact in our house we associate fairies with butterflies quite directly so a pollinator study would be a fun thing to do too. Another fun way to celebrate is by making fairy cakes- just don’t forget to leave the fairies some! Read more: @wineberryadventurescouts > 🔗 > nature celebrations > may day

I did some reorganization on my website and have two new categories- Picture Book Buds and Picture Book Hikes! Picture Book Buds pairs a book that we love with an activity or two and a fun snack. Everything is inspired by and providing extension for the book. Picture book hikes is very similar, except it pairs a hike idea with a picture book and snacks/ more activities. There are a few ready and I’ll be adding both categories over the new few months! (There are so many books I want to feature!!) Have a book you love that would make a great feature? Let me know in the comments below!! Check out PB Buds & PB Hikes: @wineberryadventurescouts > 🔗 > blog > nature library > pb buds or pb hikes

New painting on the easel today. This will be 'March' in the calendar I am planning to launch for 2025 along with other goodies such as greetings cards, prints etc. Ostara celebrates the spring equinox. The word Ostara comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess name, Eostre. Eostre, the ancient goddess of the spring, transformed a bird into a hare, and the hare responded by laying colored eggs for her festival.. #March #marchhares #ostara #eostre #spring #thewheelturns #turningofthewheel #hares #oilpainting #illustration #calendar2025

What a gorgeous day 💚 Feeling my body engage with the warmth in the land, like a snake, feeling renewed energy. As the turning of the wheel brings the warmer half of the year. Winter has been too long this year, and too wet… I’ve grown stiff and creaky, like an old tree, rooted down into a warm place. As we welcome back the sun, may our animal bodies stretch and savour the warmth. Today I’m singing loudly with the birds in the woods, in gratitude. We have survived another winter. I feel much hope this equinox 💚 #gratitude #springequinox #wheeloftheyear #turningofthewheel #naturalcycles #hope #belongingtotheland

I've been quiet this month, I know. That being said, I'm not sorry for it. We talked a lot about exploring the darkness of the bogs in our weaving, and we weren't wrong, were we? It can be as dark as it is illuminating in there, that's for sure. (If you missed our sacred weaving convo, then this is your time to pause your ready and go listen to it. We can wait for you, it's only six minutes long - don't worry.) March is always a peculiar month for me, I wonder how it has been for you? Mine is always somewhere between death and rebirth in so many ways. Often it means I feel a little like the last lamb of spring—Full of reluctance to venture out and share the words on the tip of my tongue. However, today I felt the spring warmth of the sun on my face, and it called to me in so many beautiful ways. So today's reminder is simply this: There are cycles in life we often do not talk about. Old parts of you die, and new parts of yourself step forward. Are they the original parts of you that you may have forgotten? Possibly, I like to think that these new parts of us are a combination of our most ancient knowing and our most vulnerable truth, kind of mushed together, not yet fully in flow but still combined. Perhaps as humans, we sometimes choose to ignore these newly formed & less polished parts of ourselves out of fear that the world might not fully be ready to accept or understand them. I can't help but think its time that we show them more openly and freely than ever before. Wherever you are on this powerful Equinox week, I hope you are being kind to yourself. There is so much of the year yet to come, and I don't know about you, but I don't feel like the same person I was yesterday, let alone who I was at the threshold of 2024. From my tender equinox heart to yours I am sending you oceans of love. Spring ephemeral hike Spring ephemerals are one of the most exciting treasures to hunt for in the early spring. They are short lived woodland flowers that live their entire lives in the early spring before the trees leaf out. They sprout, bloom and set seed all between snowmelt and when the forest canopy shades them out. Their dainty appearance and short life may make them appear delicate, but these plants are tough. Spring ephemerals have all kinds of interesting adaptations and collaborations with other members of their communities to help them survive in such a harsh environment. Because soil temperatures are low this time of year, water and nutrient uptake is more challenging. Many spring ephemerals have developed relationships with mycorrhiza in order to get the water and nutrients they need. Their environment is perfect for myrmecochory, which is seed dispersal by ants. As the first blooms of spring, ephemerals are a critical source of nectar and pollen for bumblebees, mining bees, various flies and gnats. There are several specialized native bees that only forage one type of spring ephemeral, meaning a disruption in their partner plant can have dire consequences for them. Visit a nature center or get a field guide for your area to determine what spring ephemerals are prevalent where you live and then get outside and start hunting!! It’s always exciting to find them, especially when you come across a particularly rare one. Spring ephemerals hikes are the biggest motivator for our family to get outside and explore on those in between days when it’s not quite spring and and not quite winter. When you find some spring ephemerals, take pictures, draw them in your nature journal or just enjoy them, but never pick them, nature needs them more than we do! The egg never stops being a magical symbol of this season. We boil and color them. We hide them for the kids and our own adult pleasure - we make them into deviled eggs - a funny term which I need to research a bit! There is a concoction inside the egg that we enjoy eating but in the natural world of the backyard chicken they would be incubated to transform into a chick. The entire process of the circle of life and rebirth. In the pagan tradition and in the Northern hemisphere, today is Ostara. - Spiritually, we are beckoned to embrace new beginnings and fresh starts, shedding the old and that is no longer serving to welcome the promise of the new. We take our prompt from the natural world and the eggs, as they go through a profound transformation. Trees are budding, and the Earth is awakening. This symbolic rebirth mirrors the internal journey of self-discovery and renewal, urging us to release stagnant energies and embrace personal growth. 💚💚💚 #ostara #rebirth #turningofthewheel #transform #eggmagic @thedreaminggourd

And here we are at the Spring Equinox and with it comes Ostara. I feel that the last few months have gone both quickly and slowly at the same time ( if that’s even possible) We are definitely getting more glimpses at the Sun here - but I’m fully expecting some colder weather again too. Today will be filled with some foraging and simmer pots to welcome in this period of preparation and growth. Can you feel the inspiration and desire to get outside starting to crackle in your subconscious? Mine is LOUD! With day & night of equal lengths, this is a fab time to set the intention for balance in your life and environment as we go forward towards the sunnier days. We can start planting seeds and making plans, ready for new life to burst into being. Ostara Blessings. ———————————————————————————— #springequinox #ostara #ostarablessings #springtime #turningofthewheel #turningofthewheeloftheyear #changingseasons

🌸Hanami (literally translates to flower viewing or watching) is the Japanese custom of celebrating and dining under the cherry blossoms for the brief time they bloom! It’s a lovely way to celebrate this beautiful ephemeral sign of spring. Spring in particular can be a blink and you miss it time of year— I love the idea of just kind of dropping anything and just enjoying something as simple as a rain of spring flower petals. 🌸You don’t need to have a cherry tree to celebrate- we often visit a huge stand of magnolias at a favorite park or dine under the old crabapple in our yard. Whatever sort of tree you decide to dine under keep a close eye on it- the blossoms erupt almost without warning and don’t last long! 🌸You can learn a little about how and why trees wake up from winter and start to flower or dive right into the recipes. They use foraged blossoms from different spring trees- gluten free Sakura (cherry blossom) tea cakes, pickled magnolia tea sandwiches, and redbud jam with scones. There are also recipes for blooming tea and flower sugar cubes and a Sakura and matcha latte (which was a huge hit with my kids) Dine on tree flowers under the flowering trees! 🌸Whether you make a magical meal from foraged petals or just bring some shop bought cookies outside and relax on a picnic blanket under a flowering tree, take some time to slow down and enjoy this seasonal spectacle. The petals begin to fall almost as soon as they open creating dreamy drifts of pinkness fit for the fae, but also reminding us of the preciousness of life. 🌸For more about this lovely tradition and all the recipes to make the treats check out my spring equinox guide. link to shop: @wineberryadventurescouts > 🔗> shop

BLESSED OSTARA! . Here we are celebrating this ancient festival.. oops! But are we really?! You see, as much as Ostara is part of the Pagan Wheel of the Year, this festival is a relatively modern one. . Does it make it any less valid? Any less real? No. . From the earliest times, man and animal have celebrated the coming of Spring - the warmer breeze, the new signs of life, a softer earth and a steadier sky. . What we call it now has no bearing on its significance. Call it Ostara, call it Spring, call it only the Equinox or make one up yourself, this moment right here, is a time of profound celebration. . What has past, is left to lie. To slumber gently and peacefully. Now isn’t the time to look to the dark, but to embrace the swift lengthening of the days, to consider growth for the year ahead. To softly, softly, make plans. . We often make grand gestures of plans for our future, but you don’t see the trees pushing all of their energy into one enormous bud.. on the contrary, each branch, each little twig has the smallest sign of life. But when they bloom, the collective result is something to behold. . Mirroring nature will help you. Think instead of the small changes, the little ideas and tweaks to lifestyle. Allow them to be fragments of ideas that whirl around in your head. Let them all gently grow without imposing priority on them. When the tiniest of dreams and aspirations are allowed space, your ‘blooming time’ will be something special indeed. . Ideas for Ostara: . 🌸walk in nature (hug a tree for some serotonin!) 🌸bake with the family or in peace alone 🌸make a simmer pot 🌸journal on your plans for the year 🌸order some new seeds & plan the garden 🌸enjoy a spring bath with flower petals 🌸buy yourself some flowers 🌸have a feast with the family 🌸forage (wild garlic and primrose are in abundance) 🌸meditate on the growth ahead 🌸dance freely and intuitively 🌸spring clean 🌸decide on a new hobby or interest that you’d like to delve into! . . Above all else, have a beautiful and blessed Ostara 🍃 . Rhiannon x . . . #ostara #wheeloftheyear #turningofthewheel #nature #spring #equinox #springvibes #witchy #newlife #energy

Happy Spring Equinox 🌱🪺🌼🌳🌻🌷🍀🐝 Today I woke early and walked out in nature to welcome the sunrise on this new day. The Turning of The Wheel of Springs new beginning. Even though the day started gloomy and grey I can feel and see the power of the rebirth and reawakening this season brings. The banks full of nettle tops, cleavers and fresh wild garlic to remind me of their healing and nurturing energy as Mother Earth awakens after the slumber and rest of winter. I welcome the light and growth this period brings. The beginning of the growing season, a time of new beginnings, rebirth, a new chapter ♥️ What do you want to see grow in your life in the months ahead? #springequinox #turningofthewheel #returnofthelight #rebirth #balance #equaldayandnight
