I live in TX with my cute husband + even cuter cat, Leia! 🩷 My love of reading started from a young age and really developed during college + grad school as a way to escape + cope with stress. I know, I've promised you this post a long time ago, but now I can finally introduce myself properly. I've first started reading as a hobby in my 2nd year of elementry school, when a teacher saw my enjoyment of practising it and gifted me a book ❤️‍🔥 I used to have fave authors and genres etc. But nowadays I truly don't know what to say. I have authors I enjoy reading, but still trying to find the one who makes me want to read everything they've written 🐦‍🔥 I used to have an insta account where I wrote stories and loved that experience of meeting new people and sharing my love. When I stopped doing that, I kept thinking of re-starting that journey again, because I somehow also missed it. In recent years I also started to feel kinda lost and not knowing myself as much, probably because I was only focused on studying. So that's why I've created this account to explore myself again, share what I love, connect with new people and just having discussions about various topics. I really hope this account will be turning into a safe bubble for anyone who wants to connect with others and tries to re-discover themselves.

📚 Meet The Bookstagrammer 📚 I've never done one of these before and I'm not entirely sure what others would find interesting. I don't think I've ever shown my entire face on my feed before. Pictures of myself aren't my thing. I am too self conscious. But this is me, and the second pic is my hunky hubby with me. So here goes... • I will be 38 in August. Be gentle with me, I'm from the late 1900s. • My favorite color is blue. • My hubby and I got together while I was in high school. We've been together for almost 22 years and have two boys. • I am the youngest out of 6. • My degree is in social work but I am a preschool teacher. • Ever since I first learned to read, I've always had a book with me. • I'm low maintenance. I don't wear jewelry much. The only time I really carry a purse is if my boys are with me and I need my safety supplies (epi pen and all that). • I am an introvert and don't like people much....unless you are one of MY people, then I'm more outgoing. • I read a little bit of everything, but romantasy and mythology are my favorite. • Migraines are my downfall. • Growing up I couldn't wait to be an adult so I could drink coffee and wine. I don't drink either. Coffee makes me sick and wine hasn't tasted good in a while. • I have never broken a bone. • I pretend I can ride a skateboard (a tad), but the dent in my wall says otherwise. • Dancing is not in my DNA but I love watching others dance and daydreaming I could join. ✨ MEET THE BOOKSTAGRAMMER ✨ I’ve not done one of these before and I’ve met so many lovely people on here, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself 🫶 I’m Amber and I’m turning 28 this month. I live in Glasgow (Scotland) but was born and raised in the Highlands! I’ve got an obsessive personality and vivid imagination, so SFF books have always been my main jam. This started when I was a kid with The Chronicles of Narnia, and the rest is history. Some of my favourite series are The Stormlight Archive, The Bone Season, and Red Rising. I also love V. E. Schwab, Robin Hobb, and Madeline Miller. Some things I love in books are: found family, vampires, morally grey characters, revenge arcs, dragons, epic battle scenes, and heists ⚔️ My favourite characters are Kaladin Stormblessed and Lestat de Lioncourt (my babies 🥹) Some of my favourite films are Pirates of the Caribbean (1-3), the LOTR trilogy, Phantom of the Opera, and Interview with the Vampire (1994). My favourite shows are The Last Kingdom, House of the Dragon, Parks and Rec, and Schitt’s Creek ✨ In terms of music, my tastes are very varied. I love Evanescence, Linkin Park, Bad Omens, BMTH, Deaf Havana, Nothing But Thieves, Halestorm, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey (to name a few!) 🎸 The Glasgow gig scene is incredible and one of my favourite things about living here! a little late Mother’s Day post. I wanted to post this on Sunday but I things were so hectic with ending the spring semester and now starting the summer semester. I wanted to show my kindle vs my mom’s kindle and our current reads. on the left is me on the right is my mom! she doesn’t have stickers on her kindle yet because I just bought it for her for Mother’s Day! I think it was her fav gift :) I also got her stickers but she wants to wait until her clear case for her kindle comes in to put the stickers on the case! now that it’s finally summer I’m going to try to get back to my reading! the beginning of this year started off very strong. I’ve read 34 books so far when my goal was 24. Books/Reading have always meant a lot to me. When I was little I hated to admit but I really struggled with reading. I didn't get better at it til middle school. The first series that made me fall in love with reading was Twilight ✨️ read about every vampire series I could get my hands on. I think it was around after I finished high school and moved out of New York is when I lost my relationship with reading again. I didn't pick up a book til 2022 when I was suggested ACOTAR ❤️ and ohmygods, I not only fell in love with that series, the author and I haven't stopped reading since. I looked back and I've read 200 books since then 😅😅 Books became such a big part of the mental and emotional healing I've been doing over the last couple years. they are such a good distraction, I've been able to connect and make amazing friends with some amazing people through books. Stay connected to my favorite people through them. ❤️❤️ I've even started to feel more creative lately (big thanks to this platform and authors I've been lucky enough to read for). Meet The Bookstagrammer ⭐️ It’s been a long time since I have done one of these so it’s about time I reintroduce myself. I’m Cally and I’m 33. I joined bookstagram in August 2020 and I know it’s a cliché to say but it’s one of the best things I’ve done. I have met some amazing people, feel so connected to people that share the love of reading and also bought far too many books. I live in Broughty Ferry which is just beside Dundee. I’m biassed but it is a beautiful place. I grew up here so glad I’ve ended up back here after living in different areas. I have a partner called Alan and we have been together for 14 years! He is not a book lover but supports my book buying journey haha He also loves (🙄) to help out with my book pics. We have a 12 year old son called Jay who has taken after his dad and is not a book lover but has at least taken after his mum and supports the right football team.🧡 I have a disability called Friedreich’s Ataxia which I was diagnosed with when I was 19. I’ve spoken about it a lot before - it is a progressive neurological condition which has caused me to be in a wheelchair full time and unfortunately there is no cure. Some of the many other symptoms are lack of co-ordination, slurred speech, heart problems, hearing issues, chronic fatigue….the list goes on. It’s taken a long time but I think I’m finally coming round to this way of life. Continued in the comments…

A little Friday intro challenge from @shannonbrewsandbooks that I’ve been needing to get to! 🩷 How do I choose my next read? If I’m in the middle of a series, I’ll jump to the next book in that, but with stand-alones, I let the mood take me where it wants to go 😂 Buy or borrow? Both! I usually borrow and then I’ll buy it if I know I’ll want to re-read it! There are a couple of auto-buy authors that are exceptions that I’ll buy them without renting first (SJM, Abby Jimenez, Carissa Broadbent, Rebecca Yarros, etc) One at a time or juggling? Pretty much always juggling at least one physical and one audio, but they HAVE to be different genres. I tried juggling two fantasy books at once at one point and it was a terrible decision 😂 A bad book: DNF or keep going? I’m a big believer that there are no “bad books”, but that there are books that are “not for me” or “not right now”. I don’t believe in wasting time on books that I’m not loving in a given moment, so I’m pretty quick to DNF 😂 Physical, audio, or e-reader? All of the above! I love listening to audiobooks during work or on walks and I almost always have the e-book version rented of whatever physical book I’m reading at the time so it’s easier to take on the go or to read at night or when we travel! Classic or not? I tend to gravitate more towards newer books, but I'm not opposed to a classic when I'm in the mood for it! Bookmark or dog-ear? I will bookmark WITH my dog's ear before I'll physically dog-ear a book.
