Happy Mother’s Day! I am so lucky to have a beautiful community of moms in all parts of the world who inspire me deeply. But it is my own mother who empowered me not to lose myself in motherhood and pursue entrepreneurship. Some mothers love to be mothers to human children, and they feel complete. Others feel a force and undeniable calling that they suppress for the benefit of someone else. I do what I do (working with mothers to find themselves and their purpose, improve their relationships with their partners, and start and build soul mission-based businesses) because my mom reminded me how important it is not to squash the fire we have within. We often find ourselves as support team members to our partners who build their businesses or advance their careers. We get busy with the kids, home, and juggling all the things. My greatest wish for you, dear friend, is to have someone in your corner reminding you to take time for yourself, tend to your needs, hear and decipher that calling, hold space for you, witness your unfolding, and cheer you on when you decide to really go for it. The fire mothers carry lives in their wombs. This fire speaks to the watery Heart, where the voice of your Soul comes through to remind you of who you are in Truth and why you are here. It’s a beautiful dance waiting for the right time for fire and water to rise and explode from the throat as a gift for this world. And explode, it does! Dear mother, you are a gift to this world. Happy Thursday fam! I know you guys want more insight so here we go! Emo post alert 😅🖤🥀 I wrote this sometime ago. There’s days where she is the super hero, days where she is super mom, days where she’s the villain in someone else’s story & days where she’s the little girl and some days she’s the healer. For those moments in between she is in the present moment. She wants to feel understood, appreciated & valued. You’ll never see it again for what you thought was the magic in you, was actually her magic, it was her power all along. Her spirit radiates with a rebellious dart that you might not be able to ever catch. Many have tried, many have failed. Was there a counterpart with the wit and reflexes to be able to catch her? Hold her? Cherish her? Keep her still, keep her safe? Safe enough to rest so she felt protected? So she could unravel? Gone like a flickering light she left, none of her soul left to be found. There was no trace of her anymore. You can try to replace her magic but with her essence she will be gone like a light you could never quite grasp. Never to be found again for she was once again transformed, a shape shifter who danced with the shadows she knew so well for she had lived there various times before. She knew where she was. Alive & breathing but different from the various elements that now shaped her. Things would be different. Things are always different. Such as the ebbs and flows of life or courageous current of a river, forever transforming. She only knew this. She’s guarded, on the lookout all the time. She had been watched so many times before, this was not new to her but it was tiring. She was tired. Her old soul wanted to rest, she would love to be still and simply… be. Be actually “free” to be. My favorite book is Steinbeck’s East of Eden. One of my favorite passages I have nicknamed The Creator’s Creed. And it is worth memorizing: “And this I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world. So, there is a New Moon. Maybe you feel slightly low, or as if you were a bit "suspended" in time, or simply more internal. We often say it's the moment to break free from the old and invite the new. Or that it is the time to plant seeds. Indeed, a new moon is an auspicious time and I personally really love the energy of conspiring with such a powerful natural phenomenon. In another life, I would have been a florist. When I was in high school, I worked sacking groceries at the store near my house. But when things were slow at the front counter, I would sneak over to the florist, and the ladies that worked there taught me to arrange flowers. A lot of my current life only starts to make senses when I start running it through the filter of where I came from, the variety of selves I’ve tried on. What is a morning walk if not sneaking away before things get too busy each day? These days, my teachers are rose bushes and honey bees. I prefer flower arrangements that retain a little bit of nature’s wild, and it never has bothered me that the blooms don’t last very long. To me, there’s something instructive in the way the petals fall. One evening they present a proud picture of imperfect symmetry and the next morning they atrophy into a colorful pile of transient tenderness. Words are a bit like flowers, in a sense — they inspire joy the more fragrant and wild their arrangement. Life, too, I guess. When this directing career runs its course, and all the stuff I’ve done falls to the earth in a pile of fading artifacts, maybe I’ll rearrange myself, settle down, and work as a florist.
