The ability to take advantage of the opportunities that your current circumstances provide is definitely an important skill to have in life, but as with all adages, there are limitations. If you have a biased view on life that makes things SEEM worse than they actually are - if being critical and unhappy is your baseline - do practice blooming where you’re planted. But useful also is the skill of attuning to yourself and knowing what works best for YOU. What works for one plant doesn’t work for another unless they have similar needs. We are all individual and unique. Sure, we have some universal needs like food and sleep we share in common, but even in those things we have differences in how much or in what way. Know your own distinct needs and take steps to meet them, rather than judging yourself for not “growing” or “performing” in the way someone else is. Both of you are neither inherently better or worse; y’all are who you are, you’re both worthy, and each of you have specific needs to flourish well. It’s that nagging feeling that something’s wrong, even when everything seems fine. But here’s the thing – you’re not alone, and there are ways to manage and even overcome it. ✨First, it’s important to acknowledge your anxiety. Pretending it doesn’t exist won’t make it go away. Take a deep breath and accept that it’s part of your journey right now. Acceptance is the first step towards healing. ✨Next, practice mindfulness. Being present in the moment can significantly reduce anxiety. Try simple techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, or even just focusing on your senses. What can you hear, see, and feel right now? Grounding yourself in the present can help calm those racing thoughts. ✨Another powerful tool is physical activity. Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Even a short walk can make a big difference. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s yoga, dancing, or simply stretching. ✨Don’t underestimate the power of talking about your feelings. Reach out to a friend, family member, or therapist. Sharing your thoughts can lighten your emotional load and provide a new perspective on your worries. ✨Remember to take care of your body too. Eat balanced meals, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep. Your physical health is closely linked to your mental well-being. ✨Set small, manageable goals for yourself. Anxiety often makes us feel overwhelmed, but breaking tasks down into smaller steps can make them seem more doable. Celebrate each accomplishment, no matter how small. ✨Lastly, be kind to yourself. Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, and it’s okay to have bad days. Treat yourself with the same compassion you would offer a friend in need. Anxiety doesn’t define you. With the right tools and support, you can manage it and lead a fulfilling life. If you really want to manage your anxiety, you need an approach that addresses the day to day thoughts, emotions, and actions anxiety produces. You need real strategies to recognize triggers, challenge those anxious thoughts, and make some lifestyle changes. Equally important, having a community of individuals who share your frustrations with anxiety, allows you to connect with others who are on a similar journey. By sharing experiences and insights, you'll realize that you're not alone in your struggles, and you can draw strength and inspiration from others. . . . . . . . . #grouptherapysession #grouptherapy4me #grouptherapy #therapygroup #grouptherapy #therapygroups #therapygroupsrock #therapygroupneeded #therapyvirginia #rvatherapist #therapistinvirginia #virginiatherapist #rvatherapist #rvatherapists #virginiatherapist #ohiotherapist #ohiotherapists #anxietyproblems #anxietysucks #anxietytips #anxietymanagement #anxietydisorders #anxietyisreal #anxietyreliever #anxietylife #anxietyissues #anxietyreducer #anxietytools #anxietytreatment #anxietyrelieftips #anxietyisabitch

Ever feel like you’re the ‘needy’ one? 😔 I did too. It was kind of a known joke within my friends and even with ex partners. I wanted so badly to be loved and accepted by others. Because I was withholding love and acceptance from myself. 💕 And what I felt I needed from them was actually a signpost for what I needed to finally give to myself. Self-love is an overused buzzword. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it! Self-love is a wondrous thing and essential to our well-being and our growth. But the verbiage can be a bit overplayed. Let’s get more specific and talk about self-compassion. Self-compassion is the ability to be understanding, warm, and easy with yourself during times of struggle or self-doubt. Here are three ways you can practice self-compassion that genuinely work: 1. Act like a compassionate friend. If a friend was in your ear, what would they be saying to you? Explore that, and talk to yourself as if you were counseling or helping out one of your friends. 2. Positive affirmations in mirrors. Whenever you see yourself on a mirrored or reflective surface, think or whisper one of your trusted positive affirmations. 3. Do something nice for someone else! Give a gift, make a call, get out of your own head. And then give yourself credit for doing so. What tools do you utilize to practice self-compassion? I live in the Silicon Valley, and SO MANY PEOPLE have anxiety that anxiety doesn't even get registered as such - lots of folks think it's just them "being responsible" or "realistic". Unfortunately, so many of us accidentally end up CREATING or MULTIPLYING fear because it gives us the ILLUSION of being in control, when in fact it's actually DEPRIVING us of it. (Hint: the word "anxiety" literally means "TO STRANGLE"). I'm not saying that fear is BAD - it can be very useful in our way of navigating through the uncertainties of life. I just want people to see what's TRUE by focusing on what IS, instead of what it COULD be or SHOULD be or HAS to be...OR ELSE. Each emotion has an essential role they play in our lives. Like a spoked wheel, if one part is less or more developed than others, the wheel won't roll but rather get STUCK, causing more stress and setting us up to be reactive. Here are some of the key features of fear so that you can INTEGRATE it appropriately into your life as a powerful resource that REVITALIZES your life and relationships! Which one stands out to you? Something so simple can go a LONG way for many people.

A few thoughts on sleep, beds, and life. • There are no “shoulds.” • There isn’t a foolproof recipe for success or disaster. • We make the best choices we can make for the well-being of the most people. • When it comes to couples: some share a bed; others don’t. Some couples share a bed some nights and sleep separately other nights. Some share a bed for a season then don’t share a bed for a season. • There are many ways to sleep. • There are many ways to live. • #cosleeping #bedsharing #relationshiptools #healthymarriage #anxietytools

Okay... Parents sometimes avoid the ethics discussion. They don’t feel like experts or don’t know for sure what to say. But life is full of teachable moments, and when you have the tools, it makes a world of difference. Parenting matters. Rushworth Kidder, in his excellent book Good Kids Tough Choices, outlines these 5 tests for making ethical choices. When parents apply the 5 tests to their own lives and narrate as they work through them, suddenly the children are learning. Sensitive children and teens are thinking, noticing, and feeling more, so they are ripe for learning, and they are learning whether you are teaching with intention or by accident. It takes practice, so come practice in community with our book club. Tomorrow is our kickstart masterclass for the book club. Comment a 💜 and we’ll send you the link to learn more and register. This "meta-anxiety" is incredibly common and one of the the main reasons you get stuck in your anxiety and panic. When we experience anxiety, it often triggers a fear of something negative happening. This can lead to worrying about the anxiety itself, fearing its intensity, duration, or potential consequences. This worry feels out of control, further fueling the anxiety cycle. If you've ever experienced an anxiety or panic attack, you know how scary they can be. You can feel totally out of control of your body and surroundings and depending on where you are when they happen, can be embarrassing. People say all the time they don't want to "lose control" in public or seem like they don't "have it together." For me, after having a couple panic attacks on an airplane around others (the stranger next to me literally had to hold my hand), it became more about fearing will happen again in a "strange" place rather than the whatever initially caused the panic in the first place. Once I learned to let go of control and fearing the anxiety was I able to find ways to cope and manage that stuck. Are you afraid of your anxiety? I'd love to know! . ✨ Be sure to sign up for my newsletter for more on this topic (link on profile). ✨Looking for a therapist? Schedule an intro call with me through the link in my bio. ¿Cómo cambiar tus comportamientos relacionados a la ansiedad? 1. Empezará a disminuir. 4. #anxiety #anxietyrelief #anxietysupport #anxietyhelp #anxietyrecovery #anxietyproblems #anxietywarrior #anxietyfighter #anxietyisreal #anxietytips #socialanxiety #anxietyfree #anxietyanddepression #anxietyhealing #anxietylife #anxietycoach #anxietysymptoms #anxietyissues #anxietytherapy #anxietycure #anxietytools #anxietytreatment #anxietyrelieftips #anxietystruggles #anxietydepression

Come modificare i tuoi comportamenti legati all'ansia? 1. Comincerà a calare. 4. If you have a child experiencing a lot of dysregulation and challenging behaviors like anger, aggression, defiance etc, have you considered that anxiety may be the cause of your child’s behavior ? If this is your lived reality, you may feel judgement and shame from others. And It WILL hurt. Especially if you have your own layers of anxiety, attachment ruptures and sensitive nervous system. Other people may say to you “what’s up with your kid”, “He’s always angry” “She needs more boundaries/discipline” “they’re so selfish” “what’s their problem!” Our children’s behaviors can trigger so much within us - hence our desire to MAKE THEM STOP at all costs. This is why punishment, fear, harsh discipline, threats and all these harmful tactics are still sadly so common and mainstream. People are desperate to not feel the pain their children bring up in them. Yet these harsh treatments will only increase the anxiety and alarm stored in the child’s body and nervous system. Just as your child needs to feel safe, seen and soothed, so do you: And it can be hard to find the people to offer you the coregulation and understanding you need. It can be so easy to use business, productivity, organizing, decluttering, etc to cover up feelings of anxiety- I find myself doing this often! It’s one of my own go-to strategies to manage worry (& most of the time I still feel just as anxious about that thing when I revisit it later). —> You might ask yourself “am I in tune with my body right now? Am I actually letting the feelings be felt? Or am I shutting off uncomfortable sensations and focusing on getting things done instead?” Inviting in mindfulness and curiosity can be a catalyst to ‘being with’ your feelings & befriending your anxiety as you check things off the list. 🤍 #wellness #mentalhealth #therapy #therapistofinstagram #anxiety #tip #anxietytools #productivity #mindfulness

I can also hear it now, "It's not that easy! Don't you think if I could just 'let myself be happy' then I would?" Let's unpack that a bit more, this idea of "letting yourself be happy" & to do so I'm going to borrow words from @corymuscara ‘s caption on a post with this same quote where he wrote... When you’ve experienced trauma, or just feel like you’re recovering from a very hard life, your nervous has gotten used to the gears of tightness, anger, defensiveness, & pain. It’s probably more familiar with those gears than the ones of ease and joy. And if we know anything about the nervous system it’s that it seeks out what’s familiar, not necessarily what’s good for us. A huge part of the healing journey is reclaiming your right to enjoy your life. He goes on to talk about (& now I'm paraphrasing) how this is NOT forced positivity, gratitude, or faux happiness - but that we actually have to find pockets of peace or joy or play amongst the pain. In trauma work we often refer to these as "glimmers" "Glimmers" refer to small moments or experiences that bring a sense of safety, connection, or well-being. These are the opposite of "triggers," which are stimuli that can activate your trauma response. Glimmers are positive cues that help you feel even just 1% more calm or secure. They can be anything from the warmth of sunlight on the skin, the sound of a loved one’s voice, a comforting smell, funny dog videos, or a comically timed fart. These moments are there, even in seasons of pain, anxiety, or grief. Taking time to notice and savor these positive moments helps refamiliarize your nervous system with regulation, humor, joy, or calm. The more familiar you become with the state the more often your nervous system will let you be there and this is an essential ingredient for healing. Here's an invitation to pause for a moment to notice or remember a small glimmer you've had recently - I'd love for you to share it below!

Feeling disconnected from yourself? This could be why.. Becoming disconnected with you reality, body or experience is a primitive survival response you go into when your nervous system is trying to protect you from potential threat or danger. When you are in this state, you are unable to be in the present moment, connect with others or feel grounded. Finding gentle ways to come back to yourself and the present moment with grounding tools can feel like a safe way to reconnect. 🔹Share this post or save for some future love 🔎Follow @shai.maxine for more chronic pain and anxiety tips If you are interested in diving deeper into healing your chronic pain, anxiety, fear or other chronic symptoms, drop a ❤️ in the comments . . . . . . . . #mindbodyhealth  #anxietytips  #stressrelieftips  #chronicpainrelief   #anxietyrelieftips   #selfsoothing   #anxietytools #stressmanagement #emotionalhealth
