On the path to awakening, it is inevitable one will encounter an overwhelming feeling of disillusion. Simply put, one comes to a point where a sense of gripping exposure takes over as if all one took part in has adopted a feeling of falsity; to see truly what is for the very first time. This realization, many fail to realize, is an essential part to the unfolding of one’s enlightenment. Basically, having “lived” in a lie for so long is unnerving in itself and to carry on, with this knowledge, is a challenge no one can truly accomplish. The cage I mention is a self-inflicted one based on fear as one’s once invested world crumbles before them. This fear is a defence mechanism and not uncommon for many to deny the exposure of truth in order to remain in a unconscious state where things “feel” normal. As innocent as they may seem, the danger is in the suppression of truth which has a tendency to grow dark when denied access to the light of consciousness (like Gollum from The Lord of the Rings). So, if you find yourself unnerved don’t fret as this is a gift from the Universe conspiring to awaken you to the reality of what is so bliss and joy, the natural states you were born of, can take flight. Despite my best efforts, it's been quieter than usual on this page lately, and even though I don't feel I owe anyone an explanation, I finally feel compelled to share a bit of why... As of the end of last year, my children no longer live with both of their parents. They spend their time divided between two households now, and I spend my time divided, too; oscillating between being consumed by the duties of solo parenting one day, and by the loneliness of their three empty beds the next. I talk often about transitions in this space, and yet when it came to one of the biggest transitions of my life I couldn't find the words (or maybe the nerve) to speak on it. Part of me was waiting until I knew what (if any) impact these changes would have on this - my livelihood - but mostly I think I was afraid of being seen differently. I was afraid that by saying the words out loud - or rather, by typing them and putting them out there for "the world" to see - it would confirm my deepest fear: that I am unlovable. That I'm broken. But the truth is, I left because after years of trying to make it work, years of putting in the work on myself, I finally understood the truth: I am not broken. For years, I spent so much energy making myself smaller, folding myself up so as not to burden my partner with "too much" of me. Because if you've met me, you know that I'm a lot, lol. I am strong and compassionate and resilient and creative, and I am those things in spades. And it's a good thing, too, because - against all odds - I have survived the unthinkable, time and time again. But I'm done surviving - done simply existing. For the last 6 months I have been unfolding. Stretching myself in ways I hadn't in years (if ever), and although there has been undeniable pain, there has also been peace. Real, honest, soul-quenching peace. Peace, and quiet. That quiet has spilled into this space - sometimes intentionally, other times not - and I imagine it will continue to do so, in waves, as I continue navigating these uncharted waters. By slowing down, and really listening, we allow space for guidance and connection to come through. The Loving Observer reminds us that we are more than our wounding, and guides us to observe everything around and within us, from an open heart, and through a loving lens. It shows us where our growth edges are, and still, shows us that we are already whole just as we are. ✨ It is in these moments of connecting to myself that I feel most whole. That I feel most accepting. 💗 It feels like all the parts of me are in harmony with one another, and I can feel the connection that exists among all beings and things. Like an energetic seeing that extends far beyond my reach. It is through connecting with the loving observer that I have been able to hold a higher vision for myself, and that I continue to tap into as I grow and change. The more I come back to myself, the more those feelings of simple pleasures and joy wash over me.
