The Due Date by Niki Mackay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . This one had been on my TBR pile for a while and I’m so glad I picked it up at the local charity shop. I instantly was hooked by the storyline. I liked Ali’s character, the fact that she was slightly obsessed with the chance to have a friend and her struggle initially with motherhood made her feel even more real to me. The plot definitely had enough twists and turns to keep me intrigued all the way through and the epilogue was especially great! I do love a good twist and this book certainly ends on a great one. The writing style and pace was very good. I liked how the chapters alternate between past and present and, whilst most of the book is from Ali’s perspective, it features short chapters from each character. It was complicated enough to be interesting and keep me guessing but it was still a fairly easy read - just the type I like after working all day. This is the first I’ve read by this author and hopefully not the last. Have you read The Due Date? What did you think? 📖 . #books #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #booksta #ukbooksta #ukbookstagram #bookcommunity #review #bookreview #nikimackay #theduedate #thriller #thrillernovel #thrillernovels #bookrecommendation #booklover #thrillerbooksaddict #bookaddict #lovetoread #lovereading

Hi Fairies! I'm Rebecca, from Scotland and I'm throwing my hat in the ring for this round of Rep Searches, I sub to all the boxes already and show them off in the photo prompts so figured, why not! I love my monthly subs, and getting the books and box every month is a highlight for sure! I have also been challenging myself this year to read my past sub books that I haven't gotten round to yet, so book box subs are a big part of my content already! Thank you for your consideration! Happy Release Day to The House that Horror Built by @authorchristinahenry I have read most of Christina's books and only a couple older ones still sitting on my TBR, there's something I really enjoy about her writing and subject matter so I was really excited for this new release --------- Review: Harry loves horror movies, so when a job in the house of one of the established, but now reclusive, directors comes up, Harry can't refuse. However, she doesn't want to gush and risk her job. This is tricky as Javier Castillos house is filled with props from his movies, and other iconic scary movies, and Harry is tasked with cleaning the same. All whilst keeping to herself, and keeping her job to provide for her son. However, when a turn of events means Harry risks being homeless (again) she may have to turn to Mr Castillo more, and being more involved risks opening wounds of past scandals and family ties.... all whilst trying to keep her own family unit together. Nice wee build up tension book with some creepy moments, keeps you asking questions along the way. I loved the movie references intertwined with the fictional movies from the books Director. Only thing I wish is we had seen a bit more about Harry, and even Javiers, past as I liked dipping into the older timelines ---------- Another great book from Christina Henry, thanks to @titanbooks for the review copy (all opinions are my own regardless) Will you be picking this one up? The Hiking Trip by Jenny Blackhurst ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . I raced through The Girl Who Left by Jenny Blackhurst and had seen this book on Instagram a lot so was excited to start reading it and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the past and present element of the text and felt like I got to know and understand the characters really well. The plot itself was easy enough to follow. It certainly kept me reading and wanting to find out both what happened in 1999 and what was happening now. It was cleverly written to reveal snippets of information throughout which certainly kept me intrigued. There is a great twist towards the end of the book that took me by surprise. I’d definitely recommend this book and am now eagerly awaiting finding another novel by Jenny Blackhurst. Anyone read this one? Or able to recommend any others by this author? 📖 . #book #books #bookreview #bookcommunity #ukbookcommunity #booksta #ukbooksta #bookstagram #ukbookstagram #thriller #thrillenovel #thrillerbook #thehikingtrip #jennyblackhurst #booklover #lovetoread #bookaddict

☀️ B O O K R E V I E W ☀️ My Husband by @maudventura_ A woman, a nameless Parisian who's obsessed with her husband, explores her marriage with him with a ridiculous monologue which makes her so unhinged. She's clearly anxious about the marriage but she's fully committed to making her husband happy as she's a desperate romantic. She always states she's fully in love with him but she hates him as much as she loves him. This kind of relationship could be very consuming especially being very anxious all the time and worrying what the husband is up to. For a debut, this book was very good. I'm not a lover of no plot, but the vibes were immaculate. Delving into the mind of a obsessive woman reading her thoughts and feelings towards her vanilla husband was great to read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #book #bookstagrammer #books #bookworm #booklover #bookreview #review #bookloversofinstagram #bookrecommendations #bookstauk #ukbooksta #bookstagramtag #Bookstagrammer #flatlay #bookstack #bookshelf #igbooks #instabook #bookcommunity #bookish #booksbooksbooks #booksofinstagram #bibliophile #bookreader #bookblogger #bestseller

⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫 A nice easy-read as the weather gets lovelier! 📖Travel agent, Hester Monday, has been keeping a secret … Thanks to her fear of flying, she hasn’t been on a plane in years. Now Hester wants to make a good impression on her newest client, Jake Oakenfield, who was heroically injured saving an old lady, and is now laid up in a luxury hotel. For Jake, unable to return to New York, binge watching Netflix just won’t do. He wants Hester to invent the ultimate escape and re-create her most magical holidays abroad from the confines of his hotel room. As their perfect mini-breaks around the globe take on a life of their own, Hester wonders if her world of make-believe is all starting to feel just a little too real… #bookstagram #instabooks #bookreview #bookblog #summerreads #instareads #ukbooksta #booksta #bookcover

“It occurs to me that this lonely, beastly, bleeding boy is the only person who has ever fought for me, ever stood between me and the dark and told me to save myself.” - Alix E. Harrow, Starling House 🐦‍⬛ ✨ Nobody in Eden remembers when Starling House was built. But the town agrees it’s best to let this ill-omened mansion - and its last lonely heir - go to hell. Stories of the house’s bad luck, like good china, have been passed down the generations. Opal knows better than to mess with haunted houses, or brooding men. But when an opportunity to work there arises, the money might get her brother out of Eden. Starling House is uncanny and full of secrets - just like Arthur, its heir. It also feels strangely, dangerously, like something shes never had: a home. Yet Opal isn’t the only one interested in the horrors and the wonders that lie buried beneath it. Sinister forces converge on Eden - and Opal realizes that if she wants a home, she’ll have to fight for it. Even if it involves digging up her family’s ugly past to achieve a better future. She’ll have to go down, deep down beneath Starling House, to claw her way back to the light... ✨ I just… love this book so much 🩷 Does anyone have any recommendations for me based on Starling House vibes? Famous names. There are some names that have become synonymous in society, even if we haven’t read the books, we know where they come from. Romeo Darcy Juliet Marple Heathcliff Ishmael Some names have become so engrained they are used to describe other people (I’m looking at you Scrooge and Sherlock). It’s amazing if you think about. How these people, names conjured up from someone’s imagination, are mentioned and talked about, have affected language, sometimes long after their name was first written on a page. #namesinliterature #booknames #characternames #bookthoughts #bookishconnections #bookish #booklover #booklove #bookblogger #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #ukbookstagram #ukbooksta #bookworm #readersthoughts #readermusings

Anyone who knows me, probably knows I love this series. For one, it's amazing, for two, it was the first book that started up our Bookaholics Buddy Read Discord group, which is still going and I have made some amazing friends along the way there, some I genuinely couldn't imagine not having in my life now Anyway, back to the series, it's happy release to the UK ebook of Amethyst Kingdom, the 5th and last book in this series. I am equally excited to read it, and sad to see this series end. Swipe for my attempt at a mock up until I get a physical copy.... also still salty the aren't doing matching hardbacks after the first 3 books being released in this format. Although, as they were the shorter hardbacks the difference isn't too noticeable at least.... and the stunning covers make up for it a little as well lol Thank you to AK for this amazing world and characters, and I am so happy to be part of the Mountaineers and see how this series has grown over the years! #akmulford #thehighmountaincourt #thewitchesblade #theroguecrown #theevergreenheir #theamethystkingdom #fivecrowns #fiveco #fivecrownsofokrith #newreleases #upcomingreleases #anticipatedreads #newbooks #beautifulbooks #beautifulcovers #bookstagramuk #bookcollector #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #scottishbookstagrammer #ukbookstagram #ukbooksta #bookstagrammer #fantasybooks #fantasybookrecommendations #fantasyrecs #rebeccadeereads

Today is my day on the @instabooktours and @harper360ya Book Tour for this stunning book, Dragonfruit by @makiialucier Swipe to see the title page, the other fabulous participants and the blurb for the book When I seen this tour up, I knew I had to jump on it, not just due to this book, but I really enjoyed a previous book I read by this author, Year of the Reaper ‐---------- Review: There is a tale that a Dragonfruit, which is the egg of a Seadragon, has the power to undo a person's greatest sorrow. So when the Princess and her Page are poisoned, the hunt for such an egg is priority to help the Princess recover so she can rule. However, the father of the Page has other plans We join Hana who has spent years tracking seadragons in an attempt to secure another egg, and such a journey may lead her home, or where home used to be before her father betrayed the crown Returning will also reunite her with her childhood friend Sam, the Prince, and together they will attempt to save their home and maybe find themselves along the way. Although, in finding the Dragonfruit they are aware of the warning that comes with it, that a price must be paid This is a beautiful world with the dragons especially, but also Markings, which are basically Animal Companions who live on the skin of their owner, like a tattoo, but can also come to life. I read this book over the course of a day and throughly enjoyed the ride through this amazing world, with a story that kept me hooked. ---------- Thank you to Insta Book Tours and Makiia Lucier for the review copy of this book, however, all opinions are my own Out 09 May so you can grab it soon! The Small Museum by Jody Cooksley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ NetGalley Review "What was to become of me in this house of nightmare?" A young woman named Maddie is thrown into the depths of marriage to Dr Lucius Everley to help restore her family name. Maddie feels alone far from her family with a husband who shows little affection or willingness to live a normal married life, a sister in law and household staff who show nothing but bitterness towards her. Maddie finds her husband is a collector of curios, which he keeps locked behind doors along with his medical work that he talks very little about. Unbeknown to Maddie there is a dark side to the home she lives in and will soon discover what her husband and sister in law are up to in the house of Everley. If this book isn't on your radar, it needs to be! This was truly haunting to read. Told from two perspectives, one being Maddies and the other from her friend Caroline Fairly who sits in the courtroom while Maddie is on trial for a crime she didn't commit. Filled with suspense, mystery, and manipulation. It's a book you don't want to pass up. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers @allisonandbusby for the digital copy. 👽 Book Review: Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu 🛸 I watched the Three Body Problem Netflix series and loved it. My partner, who read all the books in the series (there are 4- the 4th book is written by a different author with Cixin Liu’s authorisation) 2 years ago, said the show remained true to the overall arch of the book but also changed quite a bit of details, and that was enough to convince me to read them. The first book in the series, The Three Body Problem, focuses on the origin story of how the Trisolaris began its 450 year journey to Earth. I’m not the biggest lover of plot-driven stories, I need a little bit more, and this book delivers that. The discussion of why Ye Wenjie called the alien species to Earth, and the subsequent responses by different fractions within the organisation ETO and their own rationalisations to worship the aliens (Lord, as they call them) was a very interesting theme to explore. There was also the theme of science and how it can be used to advance and protect, or completely annihilate the human species. It all depends who gets to control it. How one person’s lack of faith in humanity evolves into a potential demise of the human species was fascinating (and quite fun to watch🙈). And this quote by Ye stayed with me after I finished reading the first book: “I started the fire, but I couldn’t control how it burned.” I already started reading book 2 🚀👽 Have you read 3 Body Problem or watch the show? Share your thoughts 🛸🛸🛸

Book mail 📚 Three of the books I bought came last night😊 The Secret History by Donna Tartt 🖤 The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton🌙 The Betrayals by Bridget Collins🍁 I've wanted to read The Secret History for a while it's everywhere on booksta, and it's always intrigued me. The Luminaries is a big book, and any book with over 800 pages kinda scares me. It's a big commitment to start, but again it sounds good and it's not a book I've seen much on bookstagram. The Betrayals I bought this because I loved The Silence Factory and The Binding by Bridget Collins, so I decided to try this one next. Another month flew by, and May is upon us. The sunshiney days are starting to creep through, and I'm already dreaming of being able to read in the garden... hopefully soon! Great reading month all in all, had a couple of rereads, and some finished series. 9 out of the 15 books were @netgalley Arcs and went towards my reading challenge, update on the challenge is on my story, so proud of myself for making 2024 the year of getting on top of my NetGalley score 👏🏼 Also, I got another of my #12MonthsOfFavourites book done this month, so 2 down... 10 to go 📚 How was your April? #monthlywrapup #aprilreads #aprilreadingwrapup #readingwrapup #whatireadthismonth #bookstagramuk #bookcollector #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookrecommendations #newbookstagrammer #bookstagram #ukbookstagram #ukbooksta #scottishbookstagrammer #bookcollector #bookaddict #bookstagrammer #bookrecs #fantasybookrecs #horrorbookrecs #dystopianbookrecs #darkbookrecs #darkacademiabookrecs #beautifulbooks #rebeccadeereads

The Book of George is coming January 2025! ✨ I think we all know a George He doesn’t know if he’s in love, but he definitely likes having his girlfriend around He means to text his mum on Mother’s Day, but he always forgets And he swears he’ll finish his novel … eventually But no one is more disappointed in George, than George himself This is the story of one life, but George is a thousand men Thank you so much @atlanticbooks for my copy of The Book of George and for letting me help reveal the cover! 📚✍️ Review - Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason Sorrow and Bliss follows the life of Martha who goes through her whole life with an undiagnosed (and multi-misdiagnosed) mental illness. Martha struggles with finding her place and contentment in life, and we see the harsh reality of how living with a mental illness can cause one to engage in self-destructive behaviours, jeopardising both personal wellbeing and relationships/careers. “Although ideally, you want to figure out the reason why you keep burning your own house down.” This was an incredibly well written debut novel which was so easy to read I sped through it over a weekend. The narrative is so engaging and the characters are incredibly raw and honest. There are laugh out loud moments but also moments of real heartbreak, and the author has done a fantastic job of balancing the complexities of human emotion and relationships with real nuance and sensitivity. Mason has truly showcased how living with an undiagnosed illness can affect a person and their relationships. 5/5⭐️ Extraordinary. I implore you to read Sorrow and Bliss. 💭❓ what’s the last 5⭐️ book you’ve read? . . #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagramuk #bookstagrammeruk #ukbookstagram #ukbooksta #sorrowandbliss #bookreview #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #bookish #bookaddict #bookrecommendations

I love reading poetry and now that I've finished university for the year, I can't wait to dive into some of these collections. ❦ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 ❦ This book is my 𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦. It’s vampire X enemies-to-lovers X hunger games and I totally gobbled it up and licked my fingers clean afterwards!! The world building of Sivrinaj is just 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 from the gods, to the houses of vampires, to the trials of the Kejari itself - I want to live in this world and be best friends with Oraya (who is a total powerhouse of a FMC btw) 🤌🏼 ៚ Oraya is the adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, and her only chance to become something more than prey is to win the 𝙆𝙚𝙟𝙖𝙧𝙞: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself. To survive, she is forced to make an alliance with the ruthless 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘩𝘯 𝘈𝘴𝘩𝘳𝘢𝘫, enemy to her father’s crown and her greatest competition. As war amongst the vampire houses brews and her attraction for Raihn grows, Oraya must decide her fate in a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love 🗡️ This book truly was a 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆, Raihn Ashraj the man you are 🧎🏻‍♀️ and the ending!! I had to go 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 into the next one because my jaw was on the floor - I read this originally on KU in January but have literally thought about it 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 since, so decided I had to grab the hardcover to have as my baby 🤭✨ Have you ever bought a physical copy of a book you read on kindle because you loved it so much? 🍒❤️

Homebody - Theo Parish⠀ #Ad | #Gifted⠀ This post is a part of the book tour for #Homebody from @panmacmillan and the @pridebooktours. Thank you to both for the copy of Homebody.⠀ "They say your body is a temple. But mine . . . has felt more like a RENTAL. A place to EXIST, not to FLOURISH. One that came already FURNISHED with that wallpaper you just learn to live with. But don't get me wrong, I am thankful for all those things like house has given me but I dream of the day that I'm FREE to rebuild my image to choose wallpaper that suits ME. The day I will call this house HOME." ⠀ I have grown to really love graphic novels and I especially live for a transformation story. This story by Theo Parish, a non-binary author-illustrator, explores their own pressures to conform to gender expectations and how they navigated finding their own understanding of their body. It is a beautifully heart lifting story of what it means to truly feel at home in the world.⠀ So many people not only trans or non-binary feel uncomfortable in their body and not at home with the way they look. Reading about the steps and map that Theo kind of created to try out different aspects of themselves could be extremely helpful for young people and adults alike. I don't always feel at home in my own body and I found my own inspiration in Theo's journey. ⠀ With beautiful illustrations, Homebody is a moving celebration of trans joy. It is for lovers of graphic novels with a universal story about finding your true self. It is for trans young people who want to feel seen, and understand their own journey, and for anyone who wants to learn more about trans people's experiences. ⠀ Theo's identity as a trans non-binary queer and neurodivergent person will certainly give so many different people representation and help them understand themselves. ⠀ [ID: A paperback of a brunette human with a house for a body holds a big trans flag with a blue background. The book is entitled Homebody by Theo Parish. It is sitting in high grass with lots of big red tulips and other flowers.]

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Something Wild and Wonderful - Anita Kelly I absolutely loved this one! It was great to find out more about each of the character’s background story and how that’s made them who they are today. 📖 Alexei Lebedev’s journey on the Pacific Crest Trail begins with saving a hot stranger from a snake. Alexei was prepared for rattlesnakes, blisters, and months of solitude. What he wasn’t prepared for was outgoing and charistmatic Ben Caravalho, and yet they keep running into each other. It might be coincidence. Then again, maybe there’s a reason the trail keeps bringing them together . . . #bookreview #booklove #instabooks #fivestar #anitakelly #lgbt #gaybooks #bookstagram #ukbooksta #bookworm

Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . Having read all of Shari Lapena’s books I eagerly anticipated this one. I was hooked from the start. Like many of her books it has lots of characters interlinked and is told from different perspectives. I enjoyed the plot and all the twists and turns as the lies were exposed however I found the ending a bit of a let down. Without spoiling the plot, I am a primary school teacher so have taught hundreds of children and just found the ending not to be plausible. However, that said I did race through the book and it definitely kept me wanting to turn the page to find out the next dilemma. Whilst it wasn’t my favourite of her novels it certainly was a good read and intriguing. Have you read any of Shari Lapena’s books? The Storied Life of AJ Fikry tells the story of a depressed and lost bookstore owner and how his life is turned upside down when he finds a two-year-old, Maya, left in his bookstore. The story goes through the various stages of his and Maya’s life and this different obstacles they face. This is not my usual book that I would read; but I wanted to try my hand at something new. As much as I did enjoy it, I found it hard to properly get grasped by it and often found myself forgetting about it. The story is fast paced, but also slow at the same time. However, I do think that’s more because it’s not my usual cup of tea. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Friends who read together… Phil x

✨book review✨ Taming 7 by Chloe Walsh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (Spoilers ahead) This book broke me I can’t lie. Was it what I expected tbh no I felt like we focused a bit too much on other people rather than Claire and Gibsie as a couple. I understand that in some ways it set up for Lizzie’s book but it felt like we were having the same scene over and over with Lizzie arguing with everyone and I personally don’t understand how people can back her behaviour, I get it she has obviously been through trauma and seeing Gibsie does hurt but she was projecting that too much onto Gibsie to the point we’re I was like how have non of their friend group sat her down and been like this needs to stop. Also I think that how Gibsie’s secret came out was so out of the blue. I kinda wanted him to get to safe place and tell them all when he was ready but I do get that Claire had just found out and was overwhelmed. I did absolutely love Johnny and Gibsie’s scenes after this though they were so heartfelt and you could really see how tight their friendship is. On a more positive note I am really happy that in the end Claire and Gibsie obviously have a happy ending or as happy as they can right now and I’m glad Claire took his side because it leaves room for Lizzie’s character development to bring their friendship back but I don’t think their friendship will ever be the same again. I am looking forward to book 6 but if we’re being brutally honest I’ll be reading purely for the other characters because I’m not entirely sure how Chloe will go about Lizzie and Hughie’s book but I’ll take what I can get. I do however want Feely’s book I love him even though we only see a bit of him. What Wednesday 🍉 What I'm reading 📚 I'm very nearly finished That Night in the Library by Eva Jurczyk. I can't wait to share my review and thoughts on this book. What I'm watching 👀 I've just finished rewatching The Originals. I love this series so much I've never watched Vampire Diaries, though my daughter says I need to. I'd love to find a book about vampires in London during the Victorian era, so if you have any recommendations, I'd be happy to hear them. What I'm Listening to 🎵 I really need to make a playlist for my car because I'm constantly flicking through the radio stations waiting for a song to come on. I'm happy to take song recommendations! Just 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘴 to my books again on pink wednesday 💅🏼🌷 ❀ ACOWAR also deserved its own post on my feed because when I tell you 🫵🏼 this book had me in a 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 the whole way through!! This book is what helped me discover my love for fantasy - I love a romantasy don’t get me wrong, but the world-building, the politics, the ending, total perfection, and ♾️⭐️ from me 🤌🏼 ❀ I also loved that Feyre and Rhys could just be together and the insight we got into Velaris, however, if I ever see SJM it’s 𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 to avenge the sweet suriel (and if you’d have told me I’d be crying over it after book 1, I’d have laughed in your face) 🤣 The real question is, 𝑨𝑪𝑶𝑴𝑨𝑭 𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝑪𝑶𝑾𝑨𝑹?? For me, it has to be ACOWAR 🩷

My comfort author will always be Sarah J Maas, there is something about her work which will always feel like home to me. She reignited my love for reading and helped me when I was going through tough times, she is an auto buy author to me. The first series I ever read from her was throne of glass and I will always remember how that series helped me, I am hoping to eventually reread this series soon and relive all the memories, I’ve reread them all before up to tower of dawn but I have never made it to kingdom of ash as that’s when I know it ends. What is your auto buy author?🗡️

Books are my happy place. Reading is something I have always loved since I was a child, I remember my mum reading me a book called Sheltie the Shetland Pony when I was 5 years old (I still have the book in a keepsake box as I don’t want it to get ruined with other keepsake books). For me reading has always been some kind of escape into a different reality even if it is temporary, books for me are a comfort blanket, something I find safe as even though the story ends the book is permanently with me. I have no idea how this turned to be a sentimental post but here we are🌼 PS the second photo is like a year old because my camera roll is filled with holidays, books and animals

✨book review✨ Wild love by Elsie silver ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FORD GRANT. He alone deserved a 5 stars. He’s so perfect and I loved Elsie’s take on single dad it was so different than what I was expecting. Also the other tropes she used perfection when you read it you’ll understand. Ford keeping the key to her journal was everything. I’m truly obsessed with him. Rosie, Cora and Ford were possibly my favourite characters she’s written and I loved seeing Willa as well. If you want a cowboy romance, this is it. Book Review 📖 Five Survive by Holly Jackson ⭐️⭐️⭐️ One Rv 🛞 Six Friends 6️⃣ Eight Hours ⌛️ One sniper ❌️ I found this an entertaining read, but the suspense part of it wasn't there for me. The last 20% was when I found the book to really pick up. I enjoyed seeing into Reds mindset when she was thinking things through in certain situations. The characters are a mixed bunch, most of them likeable in a way, but one in particular, I will question why he classed himself as a 'friend'. Love, love, love Aoife and as much as I love Joey and I do really love him, I did feel the need to scream run at her so she could save herself from the pain 😢 Some heartbreaking stuff, I’m just hoping I get a bit more happiness in Redeeming 😌 Have a lovely weekend everyone 🥰❤️

Add the biggest reading slump of my life after reading Seven Summers to that and I just felt abit uninspired! I was waiting for the perfect book to pick me up and put me back in my happy place and this little novella did just that! Short, sweet & super spicy with a side of hockey was all I needed! It was the perfect antidote 😍😍😍 Obviously if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know Pru can write no wrongs in my eyes so it was always going to be a winner 😋💕 And obviously my first post back was going to be a Pink Wednesday Post because duhhhhh 😆🩷💓💖

🕊 I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou 🕊 🔒 Sent by their mother to live with their devout, self-sufficient grandmother in a small Southern town, Maya and her brother, Bailey, endure the ache of abandonment and the prejudice of the local “powhitetrash.” At eight years old and back at her mother’s side in St. Louis, Maya is attacked by a man many times her age—and has to live with the consequences for a lifetime. Years later, in San Francisco, Maya learns that love for herself, the kindness of others, her own strong spirit, and the ideas of great authors will allow her to be free instead of imprisoned. 🔒 I'm not proud that it's taken me this long to read Angelou. I can safely say that I'll be reading more. The first of Angelou's memoirs, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, is a poetic, stunning, and at times, harrowing recounting of the earliest years of her life. There isn't anything new I can say to add to the many, many discussions surrounding this book. But I can now say with confidence that I understand why this memoir has taken place as a modern American classic. This is a book about bigotry, childhood loneliness, and the hope and connection that literature can provide. A difficult, beautiful read. #bookreview #iknowwhythecagedbirdsings #mayaangelou #bookish #booksta #bookstagram #ukbooksta #classics #classiclit #whatglassersread

Today is my day on the @instabooktours for this creepy looking little number... Mother Death by @paul.on1984 Swipe to see the other fabulous participants, the blurb for the book, and a cool little note from the author as well! ‐---------- Review: Through a series of tragic events, Dottie finds herself in the unique position as a mother who can bring her son back to life, no matter how many times he dies Harold uses this ability to shock audiences across Scotland as part of a Circus act, with their new Assistant Pamela This book, as you can only imagine, gets gorier with every death and progression along with the story You can see the effect this power is having on all three of them, and the people they come into contact with along the way I really enjoyed (is that the right word haha) this story, especially the peeks into Old Smokes and the supernatural origins of this power given to Dottie ---------- Thank you to Insta Book Tours and Paul O'Neill for the review copy, definitely one I'll be telling my horror loving friends about (I've I haven't already mentioned it to them along the way) Out now if this sounds like your kind of thing, and also on KU if you use that! Do you read much horror? #ad #adprproduct #booktour #instabooktours #harpercollins #harperfiction #pauloneill #motherdeath #bookstagramuk #bookcollector #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #scottishbookstagrammer #ukbookstagram #ukbooksta #bookstagrammer #rebeccadeereads

𝑩𝑶𝑶𝑲 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾 ✨ ⭑⭑⭑ 🎧 This was pretty good but there were a few flaws / things I didn’t particularly like about the book, mostly relating to the characters. There was a LOT of talk about baking which made me really hungry & crave baked goods - not ideal 😂 (i haven’t even baked anything in years but I got such a strong urge to bake a batch of brownies!) The book took a while to get going, and was quite slow-paced for the first few chapters, however once it got going, it was good! Would recommend but don’t rush to read it, she’s written way better books than this one. QOTD: Have you read this book? What did you think of it?
