الحصبة: الحصبة، هي مرض فيروسي حاد ومعدي يصيب الأطفال. ويعتبر مرض الحصبة من أكثر الأمراض انتشاراً في سن الطفولة بصفة خاصة، ولكن قد تحدث عند الكبار البالغين أيضاً. أسباب الحصبة: إن اسباب الحصبة تتمثل بانتقال العدوى من الشخص المصاب إلى آخرين من خلال هذا الرذاذ وذلك إما بطريقة مباشرة كأن يستنشق الشخص السليم هذا الرذاذ خارج من الشخص المصاب، أو يلامس الشخص السليم الأسطح الملوثة بهذا الفيروس. وتشمل اعراض الحصبة ما يلي: * ارتفاع درجة الحرارة لمدة ثلاثة أيام. * زكام شديد وسيلان الأنف. * سعال جاف. * التهاب الحلق. * احمرار وحرقان بالعينين. * وجع في العضلات. * عند نهاية اليوم الثالث تظهر بقع بيضاء داخل الفم وعلى اللسان تشبه ذرات الملح (بالإنجليزية: Koplik's Spots). * في اليومين الرابع والخامس، يظهر طفح جلدي احمر اللون وهو أكثر اعراض الحصبة شيوعاً، ويبدأ خلف الأذنين ثم ينتشر على الوجه، ثم الجذع، وأخيراً يغطي سائر الجسد. وقد يستمر هذا الطفح الجلدي لفترة 7 أيام ويزول عادة بعد ١٤ يوم من التعرض إلى الفيروس. كيف يمكن الوقاية من الحصبة؟ يمكن الوقاية من الحصبة عبر أخذ المطعوم، الذي يتكون من مطعوم الحصبة والنكاف والحصبة الألمانية (بالإنجليزية: MMR Vaccine)، والذي يعد من اللقاحات الأساسية في جميع دول العالم، ويعطى للطفل في نهاية السنة الأولى من العمر. يعطى هذا اللقاح على جرعتين، الأولى عندما يكون عمر الطفل ١٢ شهر والثانية بعد ٦ اشهر من الجرعة الاولى. #Measles #MeaslesAwareness #VaccinateToProtect #MMRVaccine #PublicHealth #InfectiousDiseases #ChildHealth #StopMeasles #VaccinePreventsMeasles #HealthEducation

Well, you get Mrs. Ponterio’s very enthusiastic 5th grade homeroom playing a game called “Mortal vs Venial Sin.” The kids all had to deal with various situations: The Desert of Temptation, the Sin Cesspool, Roadblocks…if they landed on a space that stated “You Sinned,” they had to slide down and follow the directions on the landed space. Some spaces directed them to draw a card & have a teammate test them on whether something is a Mortal or Venial Sin. The winner had to get the exact number to land on the final space of the board: the church, of course! We aren’t sure what was better: the fact they have a teacher that found this gem of a game or that these middle schoolers were thoroughly entertained — and still learning — their religion lesson about sin. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported an increase in suspected measles cases in Afghanistan over the last two weeks compared to the figures reported last year. In a report released on Thursday, May 9th, the WHO stated that over the past two weeks, Afghanistan has recorded a total of 1,530 suspected cases of measles along with two related fatalities. “The 2 deaths were reported from 2 provinces: Kabul (1) and Kandahar (1); both deaths were among under-five children, while one of them was female,” WHO said. According to the WHO report, since the beginning of 2024, Afghanistan has reported a total of 21,843 suspected measles cases and 100 deaths. Among the suspected measles cases, over 80% were children under 5 years old, and more than 45% were females. The report indicates that Balkh province has the highest cumulative incidence of suspected measles per 10,000 populations (16.7%), followed by Samangan (15.5%), Khost (13.9%), and Farah (11.3%) provinces. Listen, if you are worried about measles, just remember these 5 things⤵️ Measles is rising fast in London, across the UK and globally, and outbreaks are affecting schools and families. More children are being hospitalised. This is serious. Measles is highly infectious, the most infectious of all diseases transmitted through the respiratory route. Measles can be severe, particularly in immunosuppressed individuals and young infants. It is also more severe in pregnancy, and increases the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, or preterm delivery Unfortunately, measles cases are still rising in London and globally because too many children are unvaccinated and unprotected. This is leading to outbreaks in schools, families and pressure on the health service. To help bring this to and end, here’s what we need to do: ✅ Know the signs and symptoms: Measles starts with a 2 to 4 day illness before the rash appears, which typically includes high fever, coryzal symptoms, cough and conjunctivitis. ✅ The maculopapular rash generally starts on the face and behind the ears. The number of lesions/spots generally increase in the first 2 to 3 days, and their distribution expands further to the face, trunk, and can sometimes be generalised. ✅ We are calling on all parents and guardians to make sure their children are up to date with their 2 MMR doses. ✅ In the UK, to see if your child is up to date with their MMR vaccines, check your child’s personal child health record (PCHR), known as the red book, or contact your GP practice. ✅ People may also be able to check their vaccination status on the NHS App. ✅ It is never too late to catch up. The MMR vaccine is free on the NHS, whatever your age.
