I felt it was an easy read and kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself constantly guessing and re-evaluating the characters’ motives. My old negative would be that I wish there was more shocking events taking place at the start of the book. She did however develop the characters well. I would recommend this book! ♡ Ｓｙｎｏｐｓｉｓ ♡ The story revolves around Grace Evans, who is craving a break from her hectic life in New York City. She decides to escape to a remote Airbnb in Wyoming, seeking tranquility and a chance to reset. Upon arrival, she meets the charming and enigmatic host, Calvin Wells. What starts as a peaceful retreat quickly turns into a suspenseful and chilling experience. As Grace and Calvin get to know each other, secrets start to unravel, and Grace realizes that she might have walked into a trap. 📚 MAY WRAP UP 📚 My reading trends go up and down like the proverbial yo-yo. Only four books completed in May. So much for the month being for me. I blame the mighty Mr King for that. ‘Fairy Tale’ isn't worth three weeks of anyone’s precious reading time – and that, my constant readers, is reflected in my review. @m.w.craven continues to impress with book four in the Poe & Tilly/Poe & Bradshaw series. Whichever way you look at it, they are quite the team. Review of ‘Dead Ground’ is on-grid. @willrdean’s latest standalone away from the Tuva Moodyson series is a taut locked-room mystery beneath the sea. ‘The Chamber’ is out on 6th June and my review decompresses on the 7th as part of the @hodderbooks blog tour. Finally, another Mike Craven and P&T #5 ‘The Botanist’ which I finished very late last night or very early this morning – depending on your time zone. 🔪 Book Review 🔪 🤯🤯🤯 This book! I couldn’t stop reading this one! It starts straight off the bat making your heart pound. There are alternating POV’s from people who know nothing about each other and it all converges into one insanely satisfying ending. Full of grief and heartache. A woman’s daughter is murdered, her husband commits suicide after the fact. The suspect known but never arrested due to lack of evidence. Another woman is attacked in her home, survives and again her attacker never found. Her husband commits suicide after murdering a man she tells him is responsible. Who in fact wasn’t responsible. All together paths will cross and things finally laid to rest. This was sooooo good! Definitely one of the best thrillers I’ve read this year! Check this one out! Summary: One dark evening on New York City’s Upper West Side, two strangers meet by chance. Over drinks, Amanda and Wendy realize they have much in common, especially loneliness and an intense desire for revenge against the men who destroyed their families. As they talk into the night, they come up with the perfect plan: if you kill for me, I’ll kill for you. In another part of the city, Ruth is home alone when the beautiful brownstone she shares with her husband, Scott, is invaded. She’s attacked by a man with piercing blue eyes, who disappears into the night. I couldn’t wait for the next letter to come and see what was going to be revealed next. I also couldn’t wait to discover who was sending the letters and why. This book kept me guessing the entire time and was full of surprises. Overall I enjoyed this one and would recommend it. I’m looking forward to seeing what she writes next. My hopefuls in June . 📚 Ruth Ware's books are not my favorites, I've tried a couple of them in the past and find them too slow and too boring , but the FOMO is so strong that I am willing to give her backlists more chances !! The Woman in Cabin 10 has been praised a lot and I believe it's getting an onscreen adaptation soon with Kiera Knightly in it ? And her The Lying Game has been similarly recommended too. The last two tries to see if my opinion differs. Adding an ARC that's overdue for me to read - The Other Half, it has an interesting premise, hopeful about it. . . I was so intrigued and couldn’t stop reading until I hit the last page. Her writing was so good and I loved how she kept you guessing and suspicious of every character you meet. I did guess the ending but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book! If I had to have an issue, I would say the descriptions of Meghan’s nursing tasks started to get old for me. 📖 The Ark by Christopher Coates 3 stars Let me start off by saying that this book sounded way more interesting when I read the summary. "Technology has developed to the point where a person can be placed in a Sleep State: a cross between suspended animation and a drug-induced coma.Just as the trial of the new technology is being completed, an unusual comet is discovered approaching Earth, bringing with it radiation that will wipe out all life on the planet. Soon after, the government builds a sleeper facility to save humankind from extinction, taking drastic steps to maintain secrecy of the project. But when the sleepers awaken, they discover that something has gone terribly wrong... and that the strange world around them is not the one they fell asleep in." I don't know what exactly I was expecting but it wasn't what I got. Also 75% of the book was them preparing to "go to sleep"/get everything planned. Then only like 15%, if not less actually dealt with outside, survivors, and rebuilding. Was it interesting? Yes. Did it hold my attention? Kind of, I mean when I read it, it did. But I wasn't feening to read it, and went days without actually reading it. Alot of different characters were brought in, but then just killed off, which I guess could have been needed for the story. But just kind of felt unneeded in my opinion. I also thought this was the only book. However there is a parallel story from a different perspective. So now I have to go and read that one. I am sick this weekend so it was time for my first Dean Koontz book. Writing style is similar to Stephen King, resulting in my usual complaint of being too wordy and including detail that ultimately is unnecessary for the plot moving forward. But that ending!!! I threw my book! I loved the storyline, loved how Odd was, indeed, very odd. This book was a lot darker than I was expecting. I’m glad this was a book club pick because I probably wouldn’t have given it a chance otherwise and ended up really enjoying it.

This was a very quick page turner, as you’re going to want to find out who this couple is, and why they want to kill Shannon. The book raced along into a shocking conclusion that I didn’t see coming. Attendez-vous à baigner dans une atmosphère sombre, pesante, malsaine, peuplée de suspicions et d’interrogations. Les personnages principaux sont attachants, hauts en couleurs et certains sont bouleversants par leur passé douloureux et tourmenté. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2024 📚: 33 Blindsighted (Grant County 1) by Karin Slaughter Honestly I was kinda bummed during the first half of this book because I wasn’t really vibing with it. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. And I’d been wanting to read a Karin Slaughter novel for a long time, so I was especially disappointed. But the second half picked up the pace and I started to enjoy it a lot more. Mysteries are sometimes tricky for me as they often feel kind of straightforward and I tend to get bored, but this one grabbed my attention (at least in the second half 😅🙃). I’m so glad that I ended up enjoying the book overall, and I can now say that I’m on board the Slaughter train (that sounds very violent, but so is the book so it’s fine 😂😂). I’ll definitely be grabbing the next book before long 😊

Thoughts...💭 I feel like it’s been so long since l’ve posted. It has been a crazy week and a half at work and by the time I’m off I just to unplug. And of course now I have a cold but anyway... I did this buddy read a couple weeks ago The Return of Ellie Black ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This book was pretty good! It had my thoughts and emotions all over the place. I think the author did a good job of trying to throw the reader off with certain parts of the story. ✨BOOK REVIEW✨ Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was a nice slow burn thriller. It wasn’t boring but it wasn’t fast paced either, although I enjoyed the short chapters and multiple POVs. What really keeps you going is how many teasers there are throughout the book that just egg you on and have you begging for answers and reeling for reveals and the inevitable twists. I don’t know what I was expecting, but that twist wasn’t it! I had to go back and reread a few pages and was dumbfounded. Bravo to the first twist. However, the other twists weren’t my fav so the ending was, in turn, not my fav and felt kind of abrupt. There was also one plot hole that was never acknowledged which made me question why those specific details were even there. 🤔 Overall, it was a solid atmospheric phycological thriller that I’d recommend but no need to rush to it. Les mises en scène des corps sont macabres et déroutantes et sont la signature du meurtrier. L’ intrigue diabolique est parfaitement orchestrée par l’auteur qui ne nous laisse aucun répit et nous plonge dans une atmosphère glauque, angoissante et oppressante qui s’accentue au fil des pages. Les personnages sont hauts en couleur, attachants, monstrueux, torturés, cabossés. Leurs peurs, angoisses et douleurs profondes transitent par la plume percutante et incisive de l’auteur. Celui-ci maîtrise avec dextérité un roman sombre et éprouvant jusqu’au final inattendu. Un excellent thriller à découvrir au plus vite. Résumé Margot Bellanger, psychocriminologue, se voit confier le dossier du meurtre sordide d’une femme, en région parisienne. Quelques jours plus tard, une autre victime est retrouvée morte dans la forêt de Sénart. Comme la première, son corps a été l’objet d’une mise en scène macabre. Pour Margot et son équipe, le lien entre ces deux dossiers est évident. Il s’agit bien d’un même tueur. Et ce dernier semblerait s’attacher à faire de chacun de ses assassinats une œuvre d’art. I was hooked from the beginning and loved the haunted house aspects of the story. The sibling rivalry between Annette and Sophia was palpable and it made for some tense moments in the book. There is a lot going on in this story though so at times it felt disjointed to me. I figured out early on what was happening, but I couldn’t put the book down just in case I was wrong. Detective Patrik Hedström leads the investigation amidst rising tensions and media pressure. His wife, Erica Falck, uncovers connections to an unsolved murder while researching for a book, revealing intertwined past and present mysteries. While it takes some time for the story to unfold as the author establishes different settings, once it picks up pace, I found it to be an engaging and captivating read. I particularly liked how the events in the 1980 timeline were intricately linked to the present day. This book was packed with lots of jaw-dropping moments that left me shocked. This was the first book I've read from this series, and with it being book 11 of a series, I did find it quite difficult to follow along. I feel you would definitely benefit from reading this in order. 🍭Book Review🍭 The Other Mothers by Katherine Faulkner When a young woman dies mysteriously, the grieving mother asks a local reporter, Tash, to look into her death. As she begins to uncover clues, she realizes the truth may lie within the tight-knit circle of mothers she's recently befriended. The Big Little Lies-esque synopsis was what roped me in, as I was a huge fan of the show. Both stories revolve around a mysterious death, and a group of women who may or may not be hiding secrets. I enjoyed the dual POVs and dual timelines, but The Other Mothers was a very slow burn, which I struggled to finish. I thought there were too many red herrings, including one unnecessary character that detracted from the narrative. I'm also not a fan of stories that have too many twists, and this one had twist after twist after twist.
