Plant Profile Ginger (Zingiber officinale) Ginger Essential Oil or Ginger Root Oil is derived from the root of the Zingiber officinale herb, named after the Greek word “zingiberis” meaning “horn shaped.” This flowering perennial belongs to the plant family that includes Turmeric and Cardamom and is native to the south of China; however, its growth has spread to other parts of Asia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia. For thousands of years, Ginger Root has been used in folk medicine for its ability to soothe inflammation, fevers, colds, respiratory discomforts, nausea, menstrual complaints, upset stomachs, arthritis, and rheumatism. It has also traditionally been used as an anti-microbial food preservative, and it has been used as a spice for its flavouring and digestive properties. With a warm, sweet, woody, and spicy scent that has an energizing effect, especially when used in aromatherapy, Ginger Oil has earned the nickname “The Oil of Empowerment” for the feeling of confidence that it is known to inspire. UPCOMING CLASS ✨ Introduction to Low Dose Botanicals with @banefolk Date: June 8, 2024 Time: 1:00PM – 2:30PM EST Low dose botanicals are toxic plants that are accepted for use in herbal medicine at smaller doses than our more commonly used nourishing herbs. A medicinal use can be found for almost every toxin in nature from spider venom to daffodils, but how do we know which toxic botanicals are appropriate to work with in herbalism and which types of medicinal preparations are safe to make and use as professional and home herbalists? This class is a starting point for understanding low-dose botanicals and botanical safety to consider before working with more toxic plants. We will cover learning resources, basic safety, a selection of toxic plants suitable for herbal medicine, and suggested herbal preparations. Sarah Anne Lawless is the founder of Bane Folk and an author, artist, herbalist, medicinal herb gardener, forager, and outdoor educator living in rural Canada. She has been studying and practicing herbalism for 20 years and has worked as a natural health products manufacturer for the past 15 years. As a herbalist, her focus is on low-dose botanicals, specializing in researching, foraging, growing, processing, formulating, testing, and writing about toxic botanicals and their importance in biodiversity and medicine. There is no better person to learn about low dose botanicals from than Sarah!!! I can't wait to host her for this class in our Herbaria membership 🌿 A captioned replay will be provided. Comment BLOOM to get the link to register, or visit the link in our profile!

𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘹 𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘶𝘴-𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘴 L #Lamiaceae #Lamiales #fb_lamiaceae N°596. White trillium (trillium grandiflorum) is a woodland wildflower native to eastern North America and a well known welcome sight in spring. While the leaves and flowers are non toxic, the roots and berries are toxic and can cause poisoning symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. Trilliums have a symbiotic relationship with native deciduous forests and do not adapt well to transplanting and cultivation. In the wild it can take 7-10 years for plants to reach maturity and start producing flowers. Fun fact: white trillium flowers change colour from white to pink after pollination. It lets pollinators know which flowers have already been visited. White trillium flower essence can be called upon to reconnect with divinity and the divinity within ourselves and makes an excellent meditation ally. As its life cycle is synchronized with the forest, trillium is an excellent aid in connecting and communing with nature. In flower essence therapy this gentle plant spirit helps those who struggle with self-care and financial instability. Currently available in the apothecary. Not sure what a flower essence is? → BLOG POST COMING SOON • Phytonutrients for Gemini Season • Orange Phytonutrients, Sacral Chakra, and Therapeutic Uses of the Color Orange 🍑🍊🥕🥭 •••••••••••• This practice is meant for artists, creatives, and magicians who want to have a better relationship with food. By approaching food from a creative perspective, and focusing on color (the phytonutrients in food that express different biological activities) and diversity, we can construct a unique and colorful relationship with food on our own terms, in our own eccentric ways, and in methods that make sense to our imaginative minds and behaviors. However, it is important to incorporate seasonal foods (foods that are literally in season in your area), while maintaining a balanced and nutritional dish. In other words, it’s not a practice in which one eats exclusively orange foods, but keeps the intention on orange foods to add to their (balanced and diverse) meals. The magician’s aspect to this practice is that every time one eats, they are revering the zodiac season, and calling upon the planet/deity/energy that rules that particular zodiac season. In this instance, for Gemini Season, Mercury is the ruler. •••••••••• Astro-Colors has been incorporated into Medical Astrology for many years, and can be appealing for those of us who are artists. Gemini falls in the true Orange spectrum. Orange corresponds to the Sacral Chakra. Mercury rules Gemini, and in Medical Astrology, it governs the Nervous System & the Respiratory System. •••••••• I also link the Gut-Brain Axis here. This is where our Nervous System can be affected by the health of the gut biome. (For a brief example, when bloated, we can sometimes experience shallow breaths due to not being able to draw in a full inhale.) Therefore, I lean into orange foods rich in carotenoids when wanting to address Mercurial themes. Obviously, food is more nuanced than this, but being empowered by color can help us retain information about the complex world of nutrition. •••••••• Subscribe to the Holographic Phytomancy BLOG OR SUBSTACK so you don’t miss this blog post! ••••••••

~ Linden ~ (Tillia spp) aka linden, lime, basswood Linden is well known worldwide for it’s healing properties, particularly as a gentle sedative. In France it’s known as ‘Tilleul’, when I asked a French man if he’d heard of it, he replied “of course, everyone knows it, you drink it before going to bed”. The sweet flowers are full of nectar which attracts huge amounts of bees & a linden tree in flower can literally sound like a buzzing hive of activity. Linden makes a delicious, nourishing & relaxing cup of tea, containing many vitamins, antioxidant flavonoids, soothing mucilage, tannins or volatile oils. Typically the flowering tips (including fresh green leaves) are used in herbal infusions, both for flavor & medicinal properties. Steam inhalations of the leaves can be used to clear nasal passages & promote clear breathing during respiratory illness. The seeds can be gathered in Autumn and ground to make chocolate tasting drinks & liquers. With its abundance of vitamin C and other immune-enhancing compounds, linden fortifies the body's natural defense mechanisms, bolstering resilience against infections and illnesses. Including linden tea in your daily routine during cold and flu season can provide a much-needed immunity boost. Linden is steeped in history & symbolism. Linden tree’s are a symbol of love, fertility, prosperity, fidelity, friendship, peace, justice and good luck. Linden is also very special in Germanic mythology. It’s said that the community would gather under a Linden tree to make trutful decisions in regards to justice. Apparently you can’t lie when standing under a linden. There are lots of tree lined streets in Europe, especially in densely populated cities as the trees create large canopies which create shade, and also capture carbon dioxide, cleaning polluted city air. Linden trees produce a workable timber, with very little grain, leading it to be used by Germanic tribes to construct shield, for model building & intricate carving including sculptures, and also for making marionettes and puppets. You'll learn more about Linden in my Tree Food & Medicine Foraging Guide. Order yours now www.homegrownbotanica.co.nz

Scarlet Globmallow (𝘚𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘦𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘢) Used medicinally & ceremonially. Scarlet Globmallow was used to treat pain by chewing the plant into a poultice to cool & heal wounds (often the root of the pant) medicine for pregnant women, an infusion of the plant to ease swelling, drying the plant into a powder to dust on sores, this plant was also known to be used as lotion for skin ailments, a tonic to improve appetite, & treatment for hydrophobia. The Navajo was known to refer to this plant as “medicine plant with gummy roots”. Scarlet Globmallow was known to be used in ceremony by the Navajo as this plant was a fumigant ingredient as said to give strength to singers, and referred to as “life medicine “ #ethnobotany #traditionalfolk #folkmedicine #folklore #folkgreen #nature #natureheals #naturehealsthesoul #botany #botanyphotography #botanylovers #indigenous #southwest #southweststyle #newmexiconativeplants #newmexicooutdoors #plantconsciousenergy #plantlover #instalike

What do you think is behind reality? What makes the clockwork of reality tick? When we talk about an "ethnomedical" system, we're usually referring to a medical system that is not Anglo or Anglo-American. Usually, they play by different rules about how reality works. In example, germ theory says disease is caused by germs. A holistic model says imbalance causes disease (while germs may play a part, the cause is not germs but imbalance). An ethnomedical holistic model is the process of seeking to find the imbalance and remedy it in the context of a specific culture that is not Anglo-American. "Rootwork" is the working of the roots. It's the manipulation of things unseen which manifest health and harmony. Roots nourish and communicate, stabilize and restrict. Rootwork, also called conjure or hoodoo, is an ethnomedical practice that originates in the Transatlantic slave trade. It's been used primarily for protection and empowerment of the oppressed who were seeking justice, safety, freedom, and health. It has been demonized by those in power for centuries because it threatened the ability for slave owners to control their slaves, who then passed the culture of it being "dangerous/bad/evil" down. @phoebe.hildegard 's two upcoming classes are our first offerings of the tradition often interchangeably referred to as conjure, hoodoo, or rootwork. I really hope you can be there for these. It is extremely unusual that a respected member of the rootwork/conjure/hoodoo community is willing to open up to strangers like this and you won't want to miss your chance! The first is on ethical working of the roots to bring the love you want into your life, or to bring an abundance of love. When there's not enough love in your life, that's a sickness. Phoebe can help with the remedying of those ailments. The second is a never-before-seen class on resiliency. Pride month is demanding for everyone. How can we have more energy and strength through the month, and in our day-to-day lives? Although this class is written specifically for the rainbow community, all are welcome! After all, couldn't we all use a bit more resiliency? (You know where to look to get your spot!)

A gardening day polished off with a dusk walk and a cuppa. Saw a hare and some bats. Love the seed heads of the delightful dandelion. 'Dandelions have been almost revered in the past – before lawns they were appreciated for their food provision, medicine and magic properties. Indeed, the young leaves can be used in salads and the roots to make a kind of coffee. They are a source of vitamins, calcium, iron and potassium, and were used in folk medicine to treat all sorts of ailments, eg, dandruff, toothache, sores, fever, depression and as a diuretic (but, of course, always consult a qualified herbalist before taking!).' see in the comments below. #grounded #keepitsimple #gardening #love #dandelion #folkmedicine #magicproperties #salad

Mid May vibe check. I witnessed a red tail hawk flying around with a snake yesterday…something I’ve never seen before in person and I look for every hawk and bird of prey that I can possibly spot. This was a much needed sign and one that I wanted to pass along to anyone who has also been asking for a sign. Your dreams are valid. You are worthy just as you are. Keep working, keep dreaming, remain open to life miraculously changing on a dime. For me, my faith is carried on these wings. And yes I love snakes too…they are our teachers as well. 🌞🌕✨ 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭 ✨🌕🌞 "The dandelion is the only flower that represents the three celestial bodies of the sun, moon, and stars: The yellow flower resembles the sun, the puff ball resembles the moons, and the dispersing seeds resemble the stars. The dandelion flower opens to greet the morning and closes in the evening to go to sleep. Every part of the dandelion is useful: root, leaves, flower. It can be used for food, medicine, and dye for coloring. Up until the 1800s, people would pull grass out of their lawns to make room for dandelions and other useful “weeds” like chickweed, malva and chamomile. The name dandelion is taken from the French word “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth, referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves. Dandelions have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant. Dandelion seeds are often transported away by a gust of wind and they travel like tiny parachutes. Seeds are often carried as many as five miles from their origin! Birds, insects, and butterflies consume nectar or seeds of dandelion. Honey from bees pollinating dandelions is quite delicious. Dandelion flowers do not need to be pollinated to form seeds. Root of dandelion can be used as a substitute for coffee. Dandelion is used in folk medicine to treat infections and liver disorders. Tea made of dandelion act as a diuretic. If you know dandelions, they’ll grow shorter stalks to spite you. Dandelions are, quite possibly, the most successful plants that exist. They are masters of survival worldwide." ~ Author Unknown #FridayFact #DandelionFacts #NatureTrivia #FloralWisdom #CelestialFlower #Botany #PlantFacts #NaturalBeauty #FolkMedicine #HerbalRemedies #GardeningTips #EcoFriendly #PollinatorFriendly #SurvivalPlants #NatureLovers #FlowerPower #HerbalTea #EdiblePlants #BeeFriendly #Wildflowers #HistoricalGardening

It’s mushroom month so allow me to introduce my most used medicinal mushroom, Lions Mane! This mushroom has been used in traditional folk medicine for its ability to improve cognitive function, memory, emotional state and over all well being. Thought to give you the “memory of a lion” it was often used my spiritual practitioners as an aid during spiritual practices such as meditation. One of my favorite ways to utilize this mushroom is in the form of a tincture or powder. To craft your tincture fill a mason jar about 3/4 of the way with dried chopped mushrooms. Top with an alcohol of your choosing that is at least 80 proof or above. I prefer 120 proof for this extraction specifically. Allow to sit in a cool dark place for at least 4-6 weeks! As always it is recommended to check with your healthcare provider or trusted herbalist before beginning any new herbal regimen to ensure it is the right fit for you personally! ~ Hawthorn ~ Autumn is also the season of Hawthorn berry abundance! I've never seen just a few berries or just one plant, but masses of plants forming hedgerows, laden with berries. A foragers delight! Hawthorn was historically planted on old farms to form impenetrable hedgerows, creating woven structures known as 'haws' or hedges, hawthorns name literally means ‘hedge thorn’. Use the berries, leaves & flowers in herbal infusions, jams, jellies, ketchup, sauces, fruit leathers, wine, and tinctures. My favorite way to use hawthorn is in a hawthorn ketchup (you'll find the recipe in my posts, on my website, and in my foraging guide). While drying the berries can result in a loss of color and disappointing results, their natural pectin content makes them an excellent ingredient in jam making. Hawthorn is historically renowned for its impact on the heart and cardiovascular system, including blood pressure reduction, hawthorn has also been employed to address anxiety, urinary tract infections, and serve as a digestive and kidney aid. Herbal medicine utilizes various parts of the plant, from flowers to leaves, berries, and even bark. One of the primary medicinal uses of hawthorn is its profound impact on cardiovascular health. Traditionally used to support heart function, hawthorn is believed to enhance circulation, strengthen the heart muscle, and regulate blood pressure. The plant contains bioactive compounds like flavonoids, oligomeric procyanidins (OPCs), and quercetin, which contribute to its cardiovascular benefits. Note that hawthorn lowers blood pressure so if you already have low blood pressure consult your health professional before using therapeutically. Research suggests that hawthorn may be effective in managing heart failure and congestive heart conditions. The plant's ability to improve blood flow and strengthen the heart muscle has led to its incorporation into various herbal formulations and supplements designed to support individuals with cardiovascular issues. You'll learn more about Hawthorn in my Tree Food & Medicine Foraging Guide. Order yours now: https://www.homegrownbotanica.co.nz

Folk Medicines at its finest. 🤠 I'm getting over a cold and it's moving into my ears, and this Grandmother remedy is my tried and true to avoid/ treat mild ear infection. It's simple: cut an onion in half, bake until it's soft, and let cool just until you can safely put it on your ears without burning them. It should still be warm. Tie it up and leave for 30-60 minutes. Repeat 2-3x per day (with a new onion each time) until the ear has drained and no longer hurts. Yeehaw!

Our best selling tea blend, ‘Lymphatic Love’, will be back in stock soon but we’re taking pre-orders now...hoping to ship early next week. ‘Lymphatic Love’ is a perfect tea to drink if you: Frequently feel bloated or uncomfortable after meals Experience break outs often Experience constipation Are doing a detox Have an overactive nervous system Want to get an extra dose of nutrients Whether you have some discomfort with digestion, bloating after meals, frequent break outs, are currently doing a detox program like the one in my Detox Guide, have a sensitive nervous system, and/or just want to boost your nutrient intake, this tea blend might be perfect for you right now. Orders should start going out early next week but you can pre-order your tea blend now (which helps me figure out how much herbs I need to stock). In addition, my Detox Guide will also help address the issues above as sometimes we need more than a tea blend to address a bigger root cause. Marian Farms is a Biodynamic® farm and distillery in Fresno, California. We believe in three things: growing great food, crafting fine spirits, and taking care of the earth. Really, we don’t think that the first two are possible without the latter. Many of our Biodynamic practices are a return to age-old farming methods. We make our own compost and preparations (homeopathic plant materials that stimulate plant growth and health), and we grow a diverse range of fruit and vegetables that thrive in the 12-month-a-year growing season of the Central Valley. Our commitment to Biodynamic farming involves a spiritual component and some serious elbow grease. We also use biodynamically inspired Festival sprays to honor the earth that supports us. We make our Biodynamic and organic spirits in small batches using traditional copper-pot distillation. Many of our products are now available for purchase in our online store, along with raisins and citrus (when in season). Did you know that- Marian Farms is California's only producer of biodynamic spirits, one of two in the US, and one of four in the world. 😍 #biodynamicfood #biodynamicfarming #biodynamicalcohol #biodynamicagriculture #biodynamicspirits #grapealcohol #medicinemaking #folkmedicine #herbalmedicine #winemaking #winemakingprocess #womanrunbusiness #womanrunfarm

Have I told you the story of the Quince? All the old houses around here have 100+ year-old Quince bushes. I don't know if they were very on-trend at the turn of the last century, or if there was someone in the community who was a Quince proselytizer, but either way any house that's more than 100 years old has one, and they're huge--think 12' in all directions. When we bought our place, there was no quince, and I thought that was sad--someone cut it down or it died--so about 5 years in, a neighbor gave me a baby off hers, which I planted with my Hazelnuts to grow into a delicious shrub in the fullness of time. The following spring, a Quince bush the size of a car (but only 6" high) appeared in the middle of the front yard. Out of nowhere, in a patch of lawn that I'd been looking at for at least 6 years, the snow melted and there it was. The year after, it grew itself a big garden. Now every year since, new flowers have appeared in that garden--all kinds of bulbs, comfrey, sweet pea vines, weird ornamental mints that I can't find names for, peonies...it's fascinating. I have mentioned my resident garden ghost before. She has given me other plant gifts, but this is easily the most amazing. It felt like, in planting a Quince relative from up the road I opened up something between us, made it clear how the land would be cared for or that we value the old things or maybe just something recognizable she could respond to, I don't know. There is more to this story, but it's too long for here...read the rest through the lInk, and find out about all the herbal homestead awesomeness happening this summer on our Vermont farm in real life! #herbalism #apothecary #folkmedicine #vermontfarm #medicinemaking #makeyourownmedicine #herbgarden #harvest #herbalmedicine #localplants #herbalistofinstagram #herbstudent #quince #herbschool #homestead #farmstead #farmkids #vermontfarm #oldwaysherbal

The fragrant flowers are offered to God, and garlands to adorn the hair😍 it's an emotion to pick the fallen flowers and make the garlands using banana fibre & natural sticks as coconut leaf stick. (Swipe left for more pics, where I used non natural thread to make the garland.) This is one of the rarest flowers which is used/ liked even after drying. The fragrance is wow. The fruits are edible, bark/ leaf concoction is used as medicine. The timber is very valuable too.. How do you know about this allrounder plant or how do you like the flowers. I have been practicing folk herbalism and plant witchery for quite some time. I’m always grateful for the allyship of plants, but extra especially so when I’m in need of nurturing during the menstrual phase of my Moon Cycle. Here is one recipe upon which I rely when I’m feeling crampy and cranky, to soothe my nerves, nourish my body, and relax my muscles.
1 Tbsp Nettles
1/2 Tbsp Lemon Balm
1/2 Tbsp Holy Basil (Tulsi)
1 tsp Rose Petals
1 tsp Chamomile
12 oz hot water
Honey (optional)
Pour hot water, brought to a just boil then allowed to stop bubbling, over the herbs. Steep for up to 10 minutes. Add honey if desired. Drink hot or pour over ice.*
*I often find hot beverages irritating during the first two days of my menstrual phase. Typically I adjust my herbal tea recipes to accommodate a large pitcher and brew enough for a few days to keep in the refrigerator.

Onosma caucasica Levin et T.N. Pop. BORAGINACEAE 🌱Botany and Ecology Endemic of the Caucasus. Onosma caucasica is a perennial herbaceous plant 20-40 cm tall, gray-green in color by bristles on the leaves and inflorescences. The stem is simple or branched. Generative shoots are erect, sparsely pubescent. Fruitless shoots are shortened.  Cauline leaves 5-8 mm wide, elongate, revolute at margins. Inflorescence is multifloral. Corolla lemon-yellow, up to 30 mm long. Eremes are shortly pointed, 2.5-3.5 mm long, with a short spout. Blossoms in June – July.  Grows on stony mountain-steppe slopes, in the lower and middle mountain zones, 1300-1700 m above the sea level. 🧫Local Medicinal Uses In the folk medicine of ethnic groups of Dagestan, Onosma caucasica is widely used as an antiviral and antitumor prophylactic agent. The medicinal raw material is the above-ground part of Onosma caucasica, collected during flowering. Annual rosetted leaves and flowering shoots are dried in the shade. Before use, the dried raw material is finely ground. There is evidence that Onosma caucasica is an effective remedy for internal polyps and papillomas. There are two known methods of intake. The first method: 1 teaspoon of raw materials, ground just before use, mixed with honey or curd, rolled into a ball. Take orally one ball once a day on an empty stomach - in the morning. The course of treatment 20-30 days. The second way: 1 teaspoon of ground herbs poured boiling water and insist 20-30 minutes in a closed container, then strain. Drink in the morning on an empty stomach, a course of 20-30 days. Residents of the Rutul ethnic group use Onosma caucasica for hypertension: 1 teaspoon of ground herb 3 times a day for an hour before meals.  Onosma caucasica is also used in veterinary medicine. It is known that if Onosma caucasica decoction is given to donkeys with large growths on their bodies, the growths fall off. #onosma #onosmacaucasica #folkmedicine #ethnobotany #dagestan #medical #medicinalplant #ethnic #ethnicculture #recipt #organic #caucasus #fitochemistry #cancer #ethnoscience #plant #pharmocology #science

#MythologyMonday One of the earliest known books of potions discovered in England, "Bald's Leechbook," is an Anglo Saxon grimoire. 🖤 The book, which shows no influence from Mediterranean cultures, contains cures for all sorts, including male impotence, headaches, shingles and chilblains. What's truly bananas is that in March 2015 it was reported that Bald's Eyesalve Recipe, which contains garlic, leeks, wine, and the bile from a cow's stomach left in a brass bowl for nine days, was tested AND FOUND EFFECTIVE against the drug-resistant infection MRSA! Boggles the mind. Not least that a modern medical study chose to test it! 🤣 #history #folklore #podcast #myths #legends #folktales #fairytales #baldsleechbook #folkmedicine

Glorious long slow walk in the heat yesterday, with the intention of gathering much Hawthorn blossom. Took hours as all the blossom was either gone over or way too high to reach. Completely forgot about it, immersed into green canopy and bird song, then almost home a long hedge swathed in fresh blossom at perfect height was waiting. Bliss having your nose immersed in this beauty, blossoms falling all over you from higher up and thinking of the supportive, heart opening and holding medicine she brings to us. So much appreciation and awe of our plant friends 🙏 this will be part of a new batch my loving hug tincture blend. I wasn’t born into a nuclear family + the concept makes less sense to me by the day. There were only 4 of us in my house but I grew up a stones throw from both of my grandmothers with aunties from all generations all around me, cousins in the same school + an uncle 11 years older than me who helped me get by. What I needed, I got + not because I grew up with riches. My house was full of platonic romance with friends eating midnight supper with my folks while I went to sleep to the sound of their laughter, holidays still laced with none-blood family pulling chairs up to their table for my parents. There was never a sense to me that the people around me were obligated to pitch in + care. If I needed an adult to walk me to school, I just jumped into the child-chain with someone my mum knew + thought nothing of it. Nobody did. We’re ruining the vision of The Village that everyone is calling for by buying into what is capitalism via kid-rearing. Keeping all the juice for our own offspring. We can share. Food, resources, love. It doesn’t have to be with blood. Whether we’re wet nursing or talking someone’s teenager off the ledge, packing extra snacks for whoever might want them or pitching in with parents for the perfect birthday present for their child, passing on the baby items to the next one coming into the proverbial clan or taking in the tormented kid for the sake of them + their birth parents, reserving judgment + providing temporary reprieve from a situation you might well find yourself in too, prayers, the Village happens only when we leave the ultra-monogamous mindset that we care only for the very thing in front of us + neglect to find a way to embrace the sanctity of sharing love. I circle not for the candlelight pictures but so my daughters can return to my side one day within it + be assured that there are plenty of ears, eyes + arms for them. So that I can breathe.Get that reprieve. I give back. Auntie is a sacred role, I wrap red thread for kids not born from me too. Mother’s Day is for the multitude of maternal figures who step up. I left my Matriarchs behind + with ease, the chosen aunties have filled huge shoes. I’d crumble without them.
