These take me back to my first full time job, as a Laboratory Analyst almost 35 years ago ๐ซก when silica gel was used a lot in dessication and drying. Many pieces of equipment I use when making medicine I also used years ago in the sciences. It's funny how different directions often lead on to the same path. You might recognise these as sachets of silica gel - they are a small but important part of the apothecary. Once the herbs are dried I pop a sachet in each of the herb jars and they help absorb any moisture, keeping the herbs fresher for longer. To reduce environmental waste, I reuse these by drying them out in the dehydrator - they change colour when they've absorbed moisture so I know when to remove and replace them.
