The new trees are blooming. Creating the outdoor space we want a couple plants at a time. When we moved into our house four years ago I was so excited for all the space we were gaining. The backyard was unfortunately a giant concrete pad surrounded by a 3-4 ft wide grass border on three sides of it. Not a single bush or flower to be seen. We replaced the fence last year and are tackling plants this year. It’s unfortunately also quite expensive, so I’ll likely only get one side done. A potted herb garden is also on the list of things to complete. I got a tiny garden planning book years ago, and I’m looking to replicate the potter cupboard garden inside it. The Autumn season is a time I really like to focus on gratitude and connection to Spirit. There is abundance all around and I have been feeling that overwhelming sense of gratitude specifically for my home. This time last year we were under contract to purchase a home. If I’m being honest it was really a home I pictured myself in but was so desperate to get out of the living situation we were in we exhausted all options. That house purchase fell through and the debilitating shroud that covered me put me in a really dark place mentally. I felt stuck. I felt defeated. I look around today at this home and I feel nothing but peace. I no longer feel that immovable force of energy blanketing me in darkness. I can see light. I see my garden, nature and I see space to call my own. Becoming a mother was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It’s cliché I know, but that does not negate the truth. There was a time I felt fearful. A time no one really talks about where you suddenly realize everything has changed. A time nobody could prepare you for. Nothing is as it once was, and nothing is what you thought it would be. I am not fearful to admit this struggle I faced that my life was no longer my own. As a Taurus, the head of the bull came out at the first sight of change and uncomfortability. I look back now and think…what were you so afraid of? For she is the light and wonder of my life. There is nothing I won’t give for her. We begin and end our days together. She watches me. She learnsfrom me. It’s has not been without challenge but it has been with great reward. As I look at this toddler in front of me I feel pride as well. I did it. I made it. I overcame. I conquered Death, I conquered fear and here she is right in front of me. Frolicking fields and chasing the Sunsets and not only did I make it, but so did she. One of the greatest things I did for myself and my practice was record all of my divination readings. I recently found my very first tarot journal that contained my very first interactions with the Deities I honor in my craft, as well as my concerns about being a first time mom. As I go through this very tumultuous week with my family, I found that my mother kept similar mementos for us. All of our baby books recording our growth as children. Our old school papers and photos, LOTS of photos. She recorded anything and everything and I am so thankful she did. I am really happy that I have record of these readings from years ago. It’s time for an energetic reset 👏 It has been an extremely long week for me personally. My anxiety is at an all time high and I’m feeling a lot of emotions and energies that I know are not serving me at this time. I am home for a few short days and I thought it would be the perfect time for an energetic reset. I am doing this by cleansing and purifying my spirit and my energy physically with a ritual bath. I love doing a reset in this way because it gives you an opportunity to truly soak in these intentions and these purifying energies. I really enjoy practicing hearth witchery because it’s a very practical magic. I also think it’s a great exercise in creativity to look at your day-to-day chores and activities and ponder “How can I make this more magical?” It’s probably not high on most folks’ list of spells to craft magic for washing one’s hands-but think about how many times each day you do this one simple thing. Why not infuse it with magic and intention?! I’ve chosen to work with lavender and lemon, but any combination of herbs that achieves your intended purpose is appropriate. Heart Healing Poppet❣️ Some occult needlecraft for you today. I have been utilizing this poppet for a few weeks now and it has truly been one of my favorite healing spells to date. Some tips for creating this poppet are to create an incantation you can speak while crafting. This will help add energy to the working and set intentions in place. Солнечный апельсиновый пирог 🥧 🍊Сегодня я предлагаю приготовить яркий и ароматный пирог по старинному рецепту: 180 гр.сливочного масла 180 гр.сахара Пакетик ванильного сахара 3 яйца 180 гр.муки Разрыхлитель ч.л. + 120 гр.сахара Сок и цедра 1/2 лимона и 1 апельсина Масло взбиваем с двумя видами сахара до устойчивой пены, постепенно добавляя яйца. Муку просеиваем, смешиваем с разрыхлителем и частями добавляем в яичную смесь. Выпекаем при 170гр до золотистой корочки. Сок и цедру цитрусов смешиваем с сахаром, поливаем этой смесью готовый пирог и ещё на 10 минут отправляем в духовку. Готово! We have been closed for some time, and there are quite a few more of you who have joined us since then, so I thought it would be fitting to reintroduce myself and the shop. My name is Sarah A.K.A The Woodland Witch, and I am the house witch and crafter here at Folkcraft and Flora. I reside in the White Mountains of New England with my husband, daughter, and fur babies.(Chickens included!) I am a folk practitioner and herbalist, as well as a homesteading mama. When I had my daughter in 2021, my craft shifted immensely. What was once very structured and ritualistic, became more simple and intentional. Weaving magic into the crevices of my daily life and within my home as I embraced my new role as a mother. This is what inspired me to rebrand what was formerly Woodland Witch Herbal: A shop of herbal and magical goods for healing done naturally, to what we now know as Folkcraft and Flora Apothecary. My crafting is centered around the home, nature, folklore and traditions of the land, as well as my personal lineage. These are my inspirations for the collections and enchanted items you will find here in the apothecary. Our next installment of the shop Woodspells and Witchery Workshops, will be a sector for kinship, connection, and growing together in the craft.
