Though many supplements are certainly beneficial to your health, they can also cause more issues when you blindly take supplements. 😝 Not all supplements are safe and not all supplements use quality ingredients. ➡️➡️ Nothing beats the nutrient power of a healthy diet! No matter what your goal is when taking supplements, one thing is certain: They aren’t a replacement for a nutrient-dense, healthy diet. 🙌 Do I make supplement recommendations to my clients? Absolutely….but they have done testing with me so we can actually see what they need or don’t need to help enhance the benefits of the foods they are eating. I generally don’t recommend supplements without working with a practitioner or having some additional testing to see what may help you. And to also see what you should avoid. SAVE this for later 🔖 (and don’t miss Slide 8 🔥) I have come so far on my journey and would definitely not be where I am if I didn’t learn from my mistakes. It is absolutely possible to be fit and healthy but that doesn’t always equal wellness. And your thyroid and hormones can pay the price for it. There’s a fine balance between “fitness” and “wellness.” And you can still keep your thyroid and hormones happy while working on your fitness. I have found a good balance now with my workouts, maintaining lean muscle, and still keeping my thyroid and hormones happy. I had to learn a lot though and go against the “norm” to get there. Having hypothyroidism definitely has had it challenges in this area. SAVE THIS ✨ If you feel exhausted, can’t lose weight, you struggle with anxiety and your mood or your hair is falling out (even though you were told that your thyroid labs were “normal”)……there is a reason for this! 😩 I went though this for many years! And am so glad that I pushed for more answers even though every doctor that I saw told me that I was overreacting or that it all in my head. Is it common? YES…..but it NOT normal! 😳 So what can you do? You have to be your own advocate for your health. If you’re struggling with your hormones and symptoms that point to a slow thyroid, don’t give up when you’re told your results all look fine. There’s so much more to dig into! I have found that you can’t just rely on a blood test for your thyroid function. Hypothyroidism or Low Thyroid Function This is a fairly common condition in India affecting almost 10% of adults with a preponderance of females being affected (Female to Male ratio of 3:1). Today, I woke up and my blood sugars were 99! 🥳🎊 January 11th my fasting glucose was 117. I have been able to reduce my blood sugars down 18 points in 6 days! My 7-day average is 106. My 14-day average is 113. I have been struggling with my blood sugars over the last couple of years. Come to find out, I've actually been struggling with my blood sugars for a VERY long time, and didn't even know it. All I knew was I had this cut on the back of my scalp in a crease that wouldn't heal no matter how much I tried. I would hold onto water like I wasn't ever going to have water ever again... My legs, ankles and feet would swell so badly I couldn't wear regular shoes sometimes. Whenever I'd travel someplace longer than an hour in the truck, my legs would swell. If I was sitting at my desk for a long period of time, my legs would swell. I had been suffering from these issues for YEARS! Even been to the ER for it a couple of times. No matter how much I researched. No matter how many different supplements I tried. NOTHING WORKED! 😤🤬 I desperately needed a change. Only I had NO clue how to fix it. Insulin resistance is INTRICATELY related to Hashimoto's because both conditions deal with hormones. So much so that if you have Hashimoto's and you don't control your sugar intake, you will get diabetes. First insulin resistance > then prediabetes > then diabetes. 📢 Now, I know what was causing my issues. 📢 Now, I KNOW how to fix it... I am losing SOOO much inflammation! I am peeing like crazy! I've probably lost at least 12 pounds or more in just inflammation alone! I'm beginning to see my waist again. I can actually see my ankles... mostly, not all the way there yet. Despite adjusting my thyroid medication and being told that my bloodwork was in the normal range, I still felt unwell. I still didn’t have the same energy I used to have. I still had dry skin, my eyes were dry, my brain fog was still there and I was still tired most of the time. The worst times were when I was concerned I might fall asleep while driving. Today I’m so happy to say that I no longer deal with these issues on a daily basis. Getting rid of your lingering symptoms is still possible. Think about it - if thyroid medication was the full treatment, why are so many women continuing to suffer? Maybe there is more to know. Many people with thyroid disease (or a slow metabolism) struggle with exercise and don’t really understand why. High-intensity exercise may cause damage to your body, and too much exercise can make you feel worse. Exercise is still super important, but making adjustments to your exercise routine can be helpful in dealing with a crash that can happen after a workout. Walking has actually become a non-negotiable on my thyroid journey. Keep swiping + SAVE 🔖 It is so common for women who have thyroid disease to also struggle with depression and mood disorders. ➡️➡️ There is such a strong connection with your hormones, thyroid and mood. Why does this happen? Stress is a HUGE factor. Remember, stress in any form (internal like a gut infection, poor nutrition, or a virus even or external like when you hate your job or you get stuck in traffic) can contribute to an imbalance with your hormones leading to low mood and even further thyroid issues. 😖 Also, serotonin levels can also be reduced when thyroid hormones are low. The majority of serotonin is made in the gut. So poor gut health (which is common with Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism) can drastically reduce this happy hormone! So often we are just told that we have a chemical imbalance but the root cause is not being investigated. You may even be told that it all in your head and you need to just think positive. But what if there is an underlying thing causing this? Keep swiping + Save (and don’t miss Slide 3 🔥) I can’t begin to tell you how many times I heard from a doctor or practitioner to eat less, exercise more, count my calories, and don’t worry about the types of foods I was eating to lose weight and feel better. Unfortunately this caused so many more slow thyroid symptoms and I continued to feel worse. 😝 These methods cause deprivation, put too much stress on your thyroid and adrenals, don’t emphasize quality of foods, and will eventually lead to fatigue, weight gain, and even more inflammation in the body. If you are hungry constantly and working out excessively, you will only slow down your thyroid function even more and your body will think it is in starvation mode. Your body will hold onto as much fat and weight as it can so you can survive. It becomes a viscous cycle.😮 When I work with clients, I don’t ever use the word “diet” and I emphasize them to “work in” to allow their body (and thyroid) to heal. ✨Cardio 1 day a week Doing too much cardio will keep your body inflamed and cortisol levels up which will cause you to hold onto fat, especially in the belly. 💪Lift weights 3x a week Lifting weights is the key to fat loss. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. 😴Get 7-8 hours of sleep We all know that sleep is important but do you really prioritize it? I'm also preaching to myself! I need to do better also. When we don't get enough sleep we will crave processed unhealthy carbs to give us that immediate boost of energy. That will only cause a crash in a few hours putting stress on our bodies. 🙌Rest days...are so important! Your body needs time to rest and your muscles need to recover from lifting heavy weights. Taking a walk or just doing things around the house is adequate for rest days. When you have hashimotos or hypothyroidism it is super important to not over exercise. Would you rather reach your goal weight or reach your goal body? 🤔 What if you weren’t worried about the scale? I have a feeling you wouldn’t care what your weight was if you were happy with how your body looked. Let me fill you in on a little secret… Your goal weight and your goal body probably (likely) don’t match up. 💯 For example, you may have a goal weight of 140 lbs., but 140 lbs. doesn’t guarantee you’re going to be happy with the way your body looks. You might be 140 lbs. with very little muscle tissue, etc. Many people reach a number on a scale and are still unhappy with the way their bodies look. This is because their muscle-to-fat ratio usually isn’t ideal - and you LOOK heavier than you really are. The opposite is also true. If you’re obsessed with a number on the scale, you’re limiting your potential. Though there is a time and place for losing weight on the scale, for many people, weighing less should not be the goal. Improving your body composition should be the goal. 👌 Forget a goal weight and learn how to build your dream body. When that is your primary goal, it doesn’t really matter what your weight is. 💪 What if you weren’t worried about the scale? How freeing would it be? I’m here to tell you it’s possible because I am you and I overcame it myself - and I want to share all of my secrets with you! If you have hashimotos or hypothyroidism and you have been eating a low calorie diet but you can't seem to lose weight and rid yourself of your thyroid symptoms then you have got to give yourself more food. I don't mean just any food. I mean Whole Foods. The food that will heal your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burner. When you under eat for too long you will cause your T4 and T3 levels to decrease and that will keep you in the roller coaster of thyroid symptoms. Why diets continue to fail you…🚫 Oh, friend. I see you. I am you. I, too, struggled after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and hashimotos with losing unwanted pounds, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, digestive issues, etc. Even when I did lose a few, I struggled with keeping it off. I felt like I was living on an emotional roller coaster, going from not caring at all to caring too much. I was either neglecting myself altogether out of resentment or obsessed with whatever diet of the month had my attention at the time. I’d go all in, lose a little, burn out, and find myself right back in the same position shortly afterward. I know you know… It wasn’t until two things happened that I could finally commit to something long-term: 1️⃣ I found a program that taught me the science behind the WHAT and the WHY. I teach my clients to understand how each strategy works and benefits them in a very simple and digestible way. Other programs simply tell you what to eat or do. It’s just like anything else - when you don’t understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, you won’t progress. 💯 2️⃣ Your past efforts have focused on eating less to lose weight. The current happenings in Palestine are things beyond our wildest dreams. Amongst the few soldiers, more than a million women, children and elderly have been trapped in an open air prison. They're living in terror and fright. Bombs are raining down on them. Homes are being destroyed. Innocent lives are being lost. We can't even send aid in the form of food, water or crucial medical supplies till the border opens. And so we feel helpless and like we are sitting in our comfortable homes while they suffer. And it starts affecting our health... So what should we do? 1. We have the most POWERFUL weapon, as the scholars have reminded us: Du'a (prayer) There is absolutely nothing, I repeat, NOTHING more powerful than a sincere prayer. Let's all pray to Allah who created us, and created our brothers and sisters in Palestine, as well as those who oppress them. 2. Remember, this world is temporary. Anyone who is treated unjustly will have justice on the Day of Judgement. And maybe their patience will be a means for them to enter Paradise. And live there forever. 3. Don't watch the news first thing in the morning, nor last thing at night. And take a walk afterwards to shake off the extra stress in your body. Your children need you. 4. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Add a pinch of salt alternating with a tsp of honey to keep your electrolytes in check. 5. Don't suppress your tears and hold it all in. That's what leads to disease later on. Journal and let everything out. Or even better, refer back to #1 and let it out in a heartfelt prayer. May Allah protect Palestine. Yahweh wants to heal you... in ALL ways. That means your health too! Sometimes He will heal you in an instant And sometimes God allows us to go through trials and a whole healing journey in more ways than one. Sometimes He will allow it for your own personal growth and character building. Sometimes it is your own sin that is holding you back from healing, like harboring unforgiveness (I see this one the most) - James 5:16. Sometimes He will allow hardship in our health to build our character for others in the future like He did with me. And because I went through such hardship with my own health, I am truly able to understand what others are going through. The frustration, symptoms, and all the things that come with thyroid and hormonal issues. I was also able to learn and gather knowledge and insight through my suffering. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to suffer for others. Jesus is a perfect example of suffering for others. So, be patient and know that there is a reason for all of it. Don't skip the journey, that's where all the growth happens.

The thyroid gland adds iodine to the amino acid tyrosine to create thyroid hormones. Approximately 1/4 of thyroid iodine is in the two main thyroid hormones T4 (thyroxine) and T4 (triiodothyronine) . Thyroxine itself is nearly 2/3 iodine. Iodine is well absorbed in the stomach acid and than into the blood. About 30% of the iodine goes to the thyroid gland, depending on what is needed. However, iodine is eliminated rapidly. Most of the remaining iodine in the stomach is filtered by the kidneys into the urine. Our bodies do NOT hold onto iron the way it does iron and we need to consume iodine regularly in our diet. My favorite way is to do it through whole food sources. Iodine rich foods include: 🦋 shrimp 🍤 🦋 strawberry 🍓 🦋 Cod 🦋 Sea Bass 🦋 Haddock 🦋 Perch 🦋 Seaweed 🦋 Kelp; in particular is rich in other minerals and low in sodium and is a great seasoning substitute for salt. #iodineforthyroid #keythyroidnutrients #thyroidnutrition #thyroidnutrition #thyroidcoach
