Mummy Wine Culture is normalised, justified, and celebrated with special Mother’s Day offers that all appear to come with a glass of bubbles. 🥹🥹🥹 Arrggh!! Some facts, before we let Big Alcohol sell us any more Mummy Wine Culture products this Mother's Day... * Over the past 30 years alcohol use disorder in women has increased 84%. * Alcohol use disorder is defined as drinking 14 or more units of alcohol a week (roughly equivalent to just over a bottle of wine). * Girls who grow up watching mums use wine to take the edge off daily stresses with wine are 4 times more likely to develop alcohol use disorder. * Studies show ONLY 20% of women are aware of the connection between alcohol and the increased risk of breast cancer. * 3 or more drinks a week increases the risk of breast cancer by 15%. All I want for mums is just to ask themselves - is alcohol helping me or hurting me? Sure, it'll take the edge off stress but it spikes cortisol and makes stress WORSE. Along with anxiety. You don't need a rock bottom moment to quit alcohol. You can just know that it's taking more from you than it's giving back. We ❤️ Tiny Healthy Habits! So what exactly is a Tiny Habit? It's a way to incrementally build a stronger foundation for yourself, without risking overwhelm and giving up! The concept is that we don't want to go from never having done any strength training, to signing up to a PT at the Gym. That's a big step. However, you could start by committing to doing just 5 squats, at home, each morning whilst the kettle is boiling! Then increase is to 10. Then maybe add 5 push ups. Slowly build up, knowing you are building a super firm foundation. Celebrate the fact that you've committed and achieved each day. Each day is a win. Each day is a deposit in your health bank! Success and Achievement breads Success and Achievement ! Coffee, has recently emerged as a high-performance, energy-boosting, cravings-busting tool for biohackers. But much of the research in this area, once again, has been done on men and doesn’t factor in our cyclical hormonal reality. So, what’s the real deal on caffeine and women? Here are some reasons women should avoid coffee and caffeine in general, especially if you have PMS, are trying to conceive, or have a diagnosed menstrual issue. Caffeine may lead to the development of breast and ovarian cysts. For women with PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, or fibrocystic breasts, consuming caffeine is a sure-fire way to fuel the development of benign cysts. For women who haven’t been diagnosed with a hormonal condition but who have hormonal sensitivity, drinking beverages that give you a buzz may not produce cysts, but it can disrupt your monthly cycle. Your genes impact your ability to metabolize caffeine safely. Are you one of those people who can have a double espresso in the evening and sleep like a baby, or does a single latte keep you up all night? It depends on your genetics. Emerging research on genetics has zeroed in on a gene called CYP1A2, which controls an enzyme of the same name that breaks down caffeine in the liver. Variants of this gene dictate how well your liver is able to break down and eliminate caffeine from your system. Based on your gene variation, your body will either produce a lot of this enzyme, making you a “fast metabolizer” (and a successful caffeine imbiber), or only a little, putting you in the “slow metabolizer” category. Less than half the population produces an abundance of this enzyme. 💬

Hey! I have a little-known secret I thought I'd share with you Us Partners... well, we get the BEST results. 💪 I know ... You ask why that would be?  Well.... It's not because we know some of some special pill or cream or electrical stimulation that magically melts the fat off. Nor are we professional athletes, nor do we live perfect lives. Want to know the secret?  It's because as partners we're more invested.  We feel a responsibility to show up better for ourselves when we're showing up for others.  It's literally our JOB to take care of ourselves. Which makes us surrounded by others who are invested in their journeys the same as we are. 🥰 There have been many times I've been on the edge of "failing" and "giving up" but coaching is what helped me push through the hard things! I know this isn't for everyone.  ❤  I will tell you, though, that I NEVER thought it would be for me either... I didn't think I'd have what it takes and really who would want to listen to me... I know incorporating self-care and other health practices can feel overwhelming sometimes. Can I lose fat while building muscle? Yes! 1. Phase 1: If you’re new to strength training, you can build a ton of muscle while losing fat without a massive diet change/food deprivation; 2. Phase 2: If you’re a seasoned lifter (strength train for about a year), things get like tricky here. Meaning, now that you’ve gotten your strength training disciple under the belt (about a year of consistency) your body will be more resistant to fat lost the leaner you are. That’s when caloric restriction will take place, e.g. 500 calories less then the prior year. 3. Protein intake is crucial after phase 2. 1 gram protein per body pound and that’s when both your training and diet need to be adjusted to not only maintain your lean physique but to further build muscle while losing fat. Females, generally can perform higher reps lower weight and recover faster than males. Their training is/should be completely different than that of males, especially in different life stages (puberty, post partum, mid life). YOU’RE NOT FAT, YOU’RE STRESSED….There’s a difference! My stress has been high and my body reflects it. - Feeling puffier - Weights up by 3 Ibs - Holding water - Stress eating and shaky with consistency Plus I haven’t trained or done any form of intentional exercise in 4 days…. This is just a reminder to: 1.) manage stress 2.) if the scale fluctuates during stressful times that are TEMPORARY, it’s not the end of the world, it’s fluid, you’re not fat, just puffy from the stress. 3.) it’s okay to just do the best YOU CAN DO at that given moment with your current your situation. No need to apply unnecessary pressure or stress on yourself, regardless of what “grind culture” says. There’s a time and place for the grind, and trust me, I love me a good gritty grind, but sometimes we have to give ourselves some grace, especially if things are out of our control. LAWD knows that I HAVE NOT been as consistent as I like to be this past week & and a half, I did stress over it, but I’m doing my best to let it roll & go because it’s not my forever, just temporary, and I’m trying my HARDEST to not be hard on myself & tear myself to pieces. We’re all humans, even I struggle with this bc I’m not perfect. This is the same thing I preach to my clients bc I practice/deal with the exact same things. Whatever you’re going through that is temporarily causing stress, remember you’re not going to 💩 physically, this will pass, and please, I beg you… DO NOT GET DOWN ON YOURSELF & THINK YOU’RE LESS THAN because you’re going through things. You’re still enough, even if you feel your worst. Much love to you ladies, & don’t make things harder on yourself by thinking the worst of yourself and beating yourself down during times like this.
