The Sunday Girl features a woman by the name of Taylor who is in a complicated relationship with Angus. Angus is not a “nice guy” and you grow to dislike him from the start. Taylor unfortunately tries to seek revenge for Angus’ actions which take many unpredictable turns… you’ll have to give this one a read to see how it ends. This book was really good and a page turner. “A chilling tale of love gone wrong and revenge gone right.” The main character, Taylor, decides to take revenge on her boyfriend that recently dumped her. She breaks into his house while he is on a trip with his new girlfriend, and orders prostitutes for him using his company card. My latest #Read is #TheSundayGirl by @pipdrysdale and I really enjoyed this #Book I read it in a couple of days (I could have read it in one! It really was one I didn't want to put down, and I was thinking about it when I wasn't reading it!) Even though parts were predictable, to me, I still wanted to know if I was right or not. The chapters were broken into days, fast-paced and full of twisted tension. A really great and easy read that I highly recommend. On my blog today I’m talking about The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale. After enjoying Pip Drysdale's most recent novels, I decided to go back and reread her debut The Sunday Girl. Now more accustomed to the author's writing style, I got much more out of it the second time around. As the byline on the front cover promises, this is a chilling tale of love gone horribly wrong. In fact, I would add very wrong to that. Taylor Bishop is angry and with good reason. She's just been dumped by her partner, minutes before they were due to leave on a ski trip together. And if that wasn't enough, her partner has gone on the trip with his mistress and he's uploaded a very private video of Taylor (one that she didn't even want to make,) online. Fuming over this latest humiliation and the pattern of abuse that she has suffered at the hands of the much older Angus, Taylor finds a copy of The Art of War and starts to put it to use, gaining revenge on Angus. But then, it seems that Taylor isn't the only one who is skilled at revenge and suddenly things take on a horrible twist ... The Sunday Girl was a page turner from start to finish and I devoured it in a day. Taylor's revenge was certainly entertaining, though I found the character herself to be a little wishy washy in places. Angus was an utter brute and I was hoping throughout the novel that I would get to see him have his comeuppance. There was also an interesting insight into abusive relationships and why the people involved don't just leave. An entertaining read. Recommended.

23_2023 "The Sunday Girl" by Pip Drysdale #bookreview #fiction The blurb sells this novel short as a stereotypical revenge tale: a scorned woman, Taylor, plots revenge on the ex who betrayed her, Angus, taking an irrevocable step which starts a spiral of events that will change her life. This book is a rollercoaster ride: a sense of pettiness and mild catharsis at first, to frustration when after one sweet apology and blaming his behavior on cocaine she takes him back (!) and horror as things progress and Taylor learns that she’ll need to take more extreme measures to escape this man. I loved that the author has Taylor consulting Sun Tzu's The Art of War and cites a principle from it at the start of each chapter. It's clever, so I was hoping for a more complex revenge plot from Taylor, instead she initiates only small things then has to keep reacting to Angus who always seems a step ahead. The suspense builds as her situation gets worse and I found myself hoping for an outlandish outsmart-the-b*stard ending! I am enjoying The Next Girl by Pip Drysdale so much that I stopped by @dymocksadelaide and bought two more novels by the same author—The Sunday Girl and The Paris Affair. Looking forward to reading both.

Please do not continue if these are difficult topics for you.* To celebrate her new upcoming book, let's take a look at some of the masterpieces that incredible author Pip Drysdale has created. This is hands down my favourite Pip Drysdale books and will leave you hooked until the end. Taylor feels like she is in the ideal relationship with Angus- the hot bad boy who she keeps going back to. Things are going well, until cracks start to show in the relationship, and Angus begins to exert his power, physically and psychologically, over Taylor. She needs to take action to protect herself, so she plans to confront Angus even if it kills her. Until the plan changes and he becomes the victim. For anyone who has never been in this situation but is fearful for themselves or friends, you now know the signs after reading this book. For anyone who has found themselves in this situation, I am so sorry. "Some love affairs change you forever. Someone comes into your orbit and swivels you on your axis... and when they leave... you are different; you have a new direction." Now I'm going to be super suspicious of anyone going to the gym. 📚 September Wrap Up 📚 What a great reading month September was. And welcome back all of the thrillers. I had a real thriller month with some other genres thrown in to shake things up. My highlights of the month would have to be: 💛 The Soulmate Equation that I buddy sped read with @bibliobliss.au This is the perfect romance and I absolutely devoured the book. 🖤 In The Clearing is my new favourite J. P. Pomare book. I absolutely love a good cult story. 💙 Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match. This Halloween vibe of a romance was so fun and I enjoyed it more than I had expected to. Perfect for an October read. I finished the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series this month and really enjoyed the series as a whole. I read two short stories on my kindle and a non fiction (audiobook). Overall, a fantastic reading month. Thankyou to the tagged publishers for sending some of these books my way. I do love a good revenge plot and I do love a good @pipdrysdale book so I knew I would enjoy this when I brought it. Here we follow Taylor Bishop who is in a relationship with Angus Hollingsworth. She thought they where happy until he breaks her heart and does the unthinkable. She plots her revenge but things don’t always go to plan. I must say I did get a little frustrated towards the middle and at some of Taylor’s choices but the final few chapters made up for it. The Sunday Girl was an easy compulsive read and further proves why I will read anything a Pip Drysdale writes. I liked how the noxious relationship between Taylor and Angus was portrayed throughout the novel. Taylor's father abundant her and her mother for another woman. So, she was desperately looking for that warmth, love, belongingness and security from another man. She described her love for Angus as a spider's silk which is stronger than steel, barely visible to the eye but unbreakable. To fill the void of emotional needs she was unable to escape from that perilous web of lies, toxic, exploitative, sadistic and manipulative nature of her husband, she ignored and even rationalised some of his malpractices. A constant state of tension and war between them was created in the novel which was exciting to read and imagine. It started with a bang! But I just didn't like the direction in which it went. It could have been more thrilling given the storyline. The intentions of Taylor were not clearly explored in the novel that's why I couldn't connect with her 'wholly' on an emotional level. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something really quick to read, great explanation of the art of war through the lead characters in the novel you can give this one a try. 🌟🌟🌟 #bookstagram #booknerd #bookloversunite #thesundaygirl #revengedrama #pipdrysdalethesundaygirl #pipdrysdale
