๐Ÿ”Ž Happy Mystery Monday! The prompt for this weekโ€™s #MurderEveryMonday challenge from @armchair_sleuth1920 is a cover for a Historical Mystery. (Check Kateโ€™s page for more details on this fun challenge. Anyone can join in at any time.) I chose Murder on Sistersโ€™ Row by Victoria Thompson. This book is part of the Gaslight Mystery series taking place in New York City in the late 19th century/early 20th century depending on which book it is. The main characters are Sarah Brandt who turned her back on her high-society life and is now a midwife helping women in need. She and Sergeant Frank Malloy, a police officer for the city of New York, often work together to solve crimes. Their relationship changes as the series progresses, but otherwise the books work well as standalones. #bookstagram #bookcommunity #mysterymonday #bookchallenge #bookcoverchallenge #bookcovers #bookscavengerhunt #mysteryfan #mysterybooks #historicalmystery #historicalcozymystery #cozymystery #victoriathompson #historicalcozy #recommendedauthor #cozymysteryseries

๐Ÿ“š HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY! ๐Ÿ“š Her Last Goodbye by Carla Kovach is out today.Thank you, @netgalley and @bookouture, for the advance copy. This is the fifteenth in the DI Gina Harte series. Itโ€™s only the third Iโ€™ve read so I think it works well for new readers if youโ€™ve not read the prior books. A woman disappears and the only witness is her four-year-old daughter who was able to run to safety. Gina and her team must find Cleoโ€™s mother before itโ€™s too late. Even though Iโ€™ve not read most of the prior books in the series, Iโ€™ve enjoyed those that I have read. I like the way Gina and her team work together. Gina is an interesting character with a sad backstory and a complicated personal life. She excels on the job, though, and is determined to do whatever it takes to solve this difficult case. The story is told through multiple points-of-view and there are several suspects that seem to have a motive. This creates intrigue, but does slow things down a bit in the middle as the investigation seems to go in circles for a while. I thought I had things figured out, but I was shocked when the whole story came out at the end. This is an engaging, suspenseful procedural thriller that I really enjoyed. #bookstagrammer #netgalley #bookouture #arc #newrelease #mysterythriller #proceduralthriller #policeprocedural #carlakovach #diginaharteseries #crimefiction #femaledetective #suspensefulbook #recommendedbook #recommendedauthor

๐Ÿ˜ฒ THRILLER THURSDAY! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Charlie Donlea is an excellent thriller writer and he has a new book coming out on May 21. I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of Long Time Gone from @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks. Iโ€™ve never done an ancestry/DNA search, but find fictional books dealing with that subject so intriguing. Dr. Sloan Hastings submits her DNA to an online ancestry site as part of her work as a forensic pathology fellow. The goal of the project is to make advances in the field that would help solve criminal cases. Sloan is shocked when her test results indicate that she herself could hold the answers to a cold case from nearly 30 years ago. The parts of the book dealing with the DNA results and Sloan doing her part to solve two cold cases that seem to be related are so interesting. Sloan is a likable character, as are her boss, her adoptive parents, and an out-of-state sheriff sheโ€™s assisting. In fact, I would love to see Sloan in a future book working on a case in a more official capacity. The story has two timelines that go back and forth throughout the book - Sloan in the present and also the crimes sheโ€™s looking into at the time they are taking place. This works well in helping the whole plot unfold, but each time the timeline changes, it slows the momentum of the story. The book remains interesting and when everything is revealed, the ending is surprising. The existence of an important clue is explained by a bizarre circumstance, which took me out of the moment. However, I still enjoyed the way things turned out in the end and the book as a whole. I still have several of his prior books I want to read, but have found each of the ones I have read very entertaining. #bookstagrammer #newrelease #kensingtonbooks #netgalley #thrillerthursday #longtimegone #comingsoon #thrillerfan #thrillerbook #mysterythriller #recommendedauthor #suspensefulreads

#twofortuesday ? Go on then, itโ€™s been a while. And the fantastic #bernadineevaristo is always one to celebrate and shout about. I read these two books about 20 years apart and both have stayed with me for different reasons. Lara was on my uni syllabus and was like nothing I had read before, it opened my eyes. Girl, Woman, Other reminded me how much I enjoy it when an author plays with traditional writing styles. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ช Kill Your Brother by Jack Heath โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Elise Glyk is a disgraced athlete. Her brother, Callum, is a well-liked teacher who has gone missing. In Eliseโ€™s search for her brother, they both become captured in a remote, abandoned farm. Their captor offers a gruesome bargain: she'll let Elise go - if Elise kills Callum... My Review: I read this series arse about. I read the next one - Kill Your Husbands - first before I realised it was Book 2. Apart from the main character's relationship, it didn't matter. And this was every bit as good as the second one. Imagine being locked in a space with your brother, not being able to leave unless you kill him. Are you better or more deserving than him? Would he kill you if the situation was reversed? If it's just between you or him, could you even do it? Full of secrets, deception, desperation and twists you may and may not see, it was definitely a book that had my attention. Who do you believe? Do they have it wrong? Will they survive? I listened to this on audio and Hannah Monson did a wonderful job once again. #killyourbrother #jackheath #jackheathwriter #mysteryseries #mystery #mysteryreads #mysterythriller #mysterybooks #suspensebooks #suspensethriller #australianauthors #australianauthor #australianwriters #australianbooks #aussieauthors #aussieauthor #aussiebooks #aussiewriters #crimefiction #fivestarread #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #recommendedseries #bookreview #bookreviewer #booksofinstagram #audiobookreview #audiobookstagram #readmore #readmorebooks

๐Ÿฑ Happy Caturday! MINI-REVIEW ๐Ÿ“š No pictures of my cat today, just the adorable โ€œSawdustโ€ on the cover of Four-Alarm Homicide, the latest book in Diane Kellyโ€™s House-Flipper Mystery series. I was fortunate enough to win a copy of this book from @dianekellybooks. Sawdust the cat plays an important part in this book and even has a few chapters told from his point-of-view! Iโ€™ve enjoyed many of Diane Kellyโ€™s books. Iโ€™ve not read all of the books in this series, but Iโ€™ve enjoyed the one I have read. The main character, Whitney Whitaker, is a carpenter and she and her cousin restore and flip houses. In this book, they are turning a former firehouse into a single-family home. Reading all of Whitneyโ€™s design ideas is a highlight of the series. While working on the firehouse, theyโ€™re approached by a neighbor to restore on the same street. This woman later dies at the former fire station and Whitney doesnโ€™t think she died of natural causes. Whitney is a very capable amateur sleuth and she does a great job gathering clues to help solve the case. She is able to do all of this in addition to her house flipping work and planning her upcoming wedding. The ending is both surprising and satisfying. ๐Ÿ˜Ž The photo of this book was taken outside because it was my first poolside read for the summer. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ THRILLER THURSDAY/THREE FOR THURSDAY ๐Ÿ“š Iโ€™m highlighting three thriller books by Jackie Kabler today. Itโ€™s RELEASE DAY for The Life Sentence and the others are my favorites by this author. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ The Life Sentence - This new release has a likable main character who wants to help her former best friend. Amber received a life sentence for a crime she didnโ€™t commit, but everyone assumes sheโ€™s guilty. I was rooting for Heather, but couldnโ€™t fully get on board with the lengths she took to help her former friend. Heather pretends to reconcile with the dangerous man she and Amber had both dated to get access to his home to find evidence to prove her innocence. However, I loved the ending and am grateful to @netgalley and @onemorechapterhc for the advance copy of this book that is out today. ๐Ÿคฉ The Murder List - This was a five-star read for me! Mary Ellis receives a planner for Christmas with first names and cities written in for each month. The name Mary and the city in which she lives is written in for April. Mary starts to worry when she realizes the names for January through March have been targeted by a killer! I was engrossed in this story from the very beginning. Itโ€™s suspenseful with plenty of plot twists and a surprising, satisfying ending. ๐Ÿ˜ The Vanishing of Class 3B - This was another engaging thriller for me. The story is told from multiple points-of-view, and it seems everyone has a secret. How could a bus full of children and their chaperones disappear on a class field trip? I really liked this one! The story is suspenseful with a surprising ending. If youโ€™ve not yet discovered this author, you are missing out on some exciting thrillers! #bookstagrammer #thrillerthursday #thrillerfan #threeforthursday #thrillerbooks #thrillerreads #jackiekabler #netgalley #onemorechapterhc #harpercollinsuk #recommendedauthor #avidreader #thevanishingclassof3b #recommendedbooks

๐Ÿ”Ž Happy Mystery Monday! The prompt for this weekโ€™s #MurderEveryMonday challenge from @armchair_sleuth1920 is a book whose cover has the word SECRET in the title. (Check Kateโ€™s page for more details on this fun challenge. Anyone can join in at any time.) โ€œSecretโ€ is a popular word for mysteries and thrillers, but Iโ€™ve chosen my current read, an upcoming release from Lisa Regan, for this weekโ€™s prompt. Her Dying Secret, will be released on May 14 and I received an advance copy from @netgalley and @bookouture. Iโ€™ve also included some Josie Quinn swag that Iโ€™ve been lucky enough to win from @lisaregan. Her Dying Secret will be the 20th book in this excellent procedural thriller series. On a routine call to a car accident, Detective Josie Quinn discovers both the driver and the passenger could be keeping dangerous secrets. A childโ€™s life may depend on Josie figuring out what those secrets are before itโ€™s too late. This series has so many intriguing plots, but what I like most is how much the main characters care about each other, which helps me to care about them. ๐Ÿ“š HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY to Someone Saw Something by Rick Mofina! ๐Ÿ“š Six year old Gabriel Tanner is walking home from school with his older sister through New York Cityโ€™s Central Park. He tries out a toy airplane he made and goes to retrieve it up a hill and behind some thick bushes. Charlotte is texting on her phone with her older boyfriend, but soon realizes Gabriel is missing. There are many suspects in his abduction. Gabrielโ€™s mom is well-known journalist Corina Corado whose international reporting has gained her many enemies. However, Corinaโ€™s husband has made his share of enemies, too, in his career as a Forensic Engineer working on a controversial project. This is a fast-paced thriller and is one of those stories where all the main characters are keeping secrets, so many of them look suspicious. I saw through most of the red herrings and caught onto the clues about halfway through the story about who was behind Gabrielโ€™s disappearance. However, I was still in suspense over what would happen and what the motive was for taking him. I had to suspend disbelief a few times, but this is an entertaining book that shows both the good and bad sides to the power of the media. ๐Ÿ“š FUN BOOK PURCHASE ๐Ÿ“š I was able to go to @poisonedpenbookstore yesterday for #independentbookstoreday. I had fun browsing all the wonderful books they have, especially the Mysteries and Thrillers. I only bought one book, but I am thrilled with my purchase - a signed copy of The Christmas Appeal by Janice Hallett. (Scroll to see the signature inside.) I am fortunate to live about 45 minutes away from the Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale, Arizona and the last few times Iโ€™ve been there, I have been eyeing this book. I read an ebook version of this book, which is a follow up to her fantastic book, The Appeal. These stories are told completely through emails, text messages, and other correspondence. I love that method of telling a story and I have found that I enjoy it more with a print copy. Yesterday, when I saw that there were still two signed copies remaining of The Christmas Appeal, I couldnโ€™t resist it any longer and bought it for my collection. Iโ€™m so excited to have a signed book from a favorite author and to have the print book so I can reread the story this holiday season. โ“Did you do anything special for Independent Bookstore Day or what are you reading this weekend? #bookstagram #independentbookstoreday #independentbookstore #poisonedpenbookstore #bookwormlife #mysterylover #mysteryfan #booklover #janicehallett #thechristmasappeal #signedbyauthor #signedbooks #cherishedbooks #christmasmystery #epistolarynovel #recommendedbooks #recommendedauthor #favoriteauthors #cozycrime

๐Ÿ“š PAPERBACK RELEASE DATE - TWO FOR TUESDAY ๐Ÿ“š Today is the release date for the paperback version of Those Empty Eyes by Charlie Donlea. The hardcover edition came out last year and it was a five-star read for me as well as one of my Top Five Books of 2023. I was fortunate to receive both editions courtesy of @btcbooks and @kensingtonbooks. This was the first book I had read by Donlea, and I loved it so much I immediately put more of his books on my #tbrlist. I enjoyed the fast pace of this thriller that kept me guessing through to the final reveal at the very end. I also love that there are so many strong female characters that play an important part in the story. โ™ฅ๏ธ The main character, Alex, outsmarted a killer and then dealt with the whole world thinking she was a murderer. โ™ฅ๏ธ Donna is a police officer who went against her peers to get help for a young suspect in need. โ™ฅ๏ธ Laura is a student journalist who put her life on the line to get justice for innocent victims. โ™ฅ๏ธ Annette is an FBI agent who runs deep background checks on potential political candidates, but proves to be fully on the side of justice. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘ The Wicked King by Holly Black โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: The enchanting and bloodthirsty sequel to the New York Times bestselling novel The Cruel Prince. Taking power is easy. Holding on to it is the hard part. My Review: I've never really been into fantasy series before (would you say Game of Thrones is fantasy? Maybe. I LOVED that series - can he just finish it please!), but I'm loving the Folk of the Air series. This second book has everyone scrambling for power and you never know who to trust. Secret plots, secret alliances and secrets in general are woven throughout the story and it's hard to put your faith in anyone. And that ending!! Whoa! Do you have an author that youโ€™ve had great luck in recommending? I donโ€™t always recommend Naomi Novik, but every time I have, she has been a hit. Uprooted, Scholomance, Spinning Silver, and the Temeraire series โ€“ whenever I have had an opportunity to recommend them to someone who reads in those genres I get back glowing reviews. Spinning Silver has actually been the one Iโ€™ve ended up lending out the most, but I just got my copy of Uprooted back and itโ€™s headed out the door once more. I think the Temeraire series sounds long to people, but it is absolutely worth it! do you have any favorites of her works? #books #bookstagram #naominovikbooks #naominovik #naominovikuprooted #fantasy #fairytale #booklife #booklover #recommendedauthor #spinningsilver #temeraire

~~~~~ In this engaging collection of personal essays and full-color photographs, Moed tells true stories of caring for her mother Florence, a broke, Julliard-trained pianist who stumbles into dementia on the Lower East Side. This funny, poignant memoir asks questions both familiar and touching: "What happened to the neighborhood?" and "What happened to my mom?" I love this book! Si querรฉis saber quรฉ me pareciรณ la tenรฉis en mi feed con esta misma foto. The prompt for this weekโ€™s #MurderEveryMonday challenge from @armchair_sleuth1920 is a cover for a mystery set in Asia. (Check Kateโ€™s page for more details on this fun challenge. Anyone can join in at any time.) Iโ€™m happy to spotlight two series by Sujata Massey for this weekโ€™s challenge. I love both of these well-written series that are set in different areas of Asia. โ™ฅ๏ธ The Salarymanโ€™s Wife, The Floating Girl, and The Flower Master as part of the Rei Shimura Mysteries series. These three books take place in Japan, although some of the others in the series are set in the U.S. Rei is a Japanese-American, originally from California, now living in Tokyo. In addition to the intriguing mysteries Rei solves, these books include interesting information about Japanese culture that I loved reading. โ™ฅ๏ธ The authorโ€™s newer series is the Perveen Mistry series set in 1920s India. Perveen is the only female lawyer in Bombay, India. The character is inspired by a real life woman who was Indiaโ€™s first female lawyer. Perveen is a complicated, intelligent, and likable character. The Widows of Malabar Hill is the first book in the series. It is excellent, as are the two books that come after that. The Mistress of Bhatia House is the latest in the series. I purchased it a few weeks ago and was able to get it signed by the author. Iโ€™ve not read it yet, but have seen wonderful reviews and recommendations of the book so Iโ€™m looking forward to reading it. โ“Have you read either of these series or do you have other favorites set in Asia? #bookcommunity #mysterymonday #bookchallenge #bookcoverchallenge #bookscavengerhunt #bookssetinasia #mysteryfan #mysteryseries #sujatamassey #japanesemysteries #reishimura #thesalarymanswife #perveenmistry #southasianbooks #widowsofmalabarhill #themistressofbhatiahouse #signedbooks #crimefiction #recommendedauthor

๐Ÿ“š HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY to A Trace of Hares by Sarah Yarwood-Lovett and thank you @netgalley and @emblabooks for the advance copy of the ebook. This is book 5 and Iโ€™ve been following this series from the beginning, but it would work well as a standalone. The main character of this series is Dr. Nell Ward, an ecologist who has a knack for getting involved in solving crimes. In this book, she and her boyfriend and colleague Rav travel to Ireland for a wedding. Her former boyfriend DI James Clark is now dating Nellโ€™s spoiled cousin Shannon, and they are both attending the wedding as well. Nell and Rav start by solving a small mystery involving a fox, a hare, and some chickens, but things get more serious when a body is discovered in a peat bog. Nell and Rav are a great team whether theyโ€™re on an ecological project or an investigation. Both find themselves in dangerous situations and Iโ€™m glad to see them going strong without any interference from his family in this book. I like the cold case aspect of the book, but too much time is spent on the Kennedy-Delaney family dramas. The science is what makes this series unique, but the details of the DNA testing went over my head and slowed the pace of the story. However, I like the way things wrap up and look forward to future books in the series. ๐Ÿฐ #bookstagrammer #bookreviewer #sarahyarwoodlovett #netgalley #emblabooks #drnellward #mysteryseries #mysteryfan #mysterybook #femalesleuths #uniquebooks #recommendedauthor #arc

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ๐Ÿชค Trapdoor by J.P. Pomare โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Eva Kavinsky wakes in a dark cellar, with no memory of how she got here. Imprisoned with her, seemingly at random, are four men. The only way out is the trapdoor in the ceiling โ€“ and it's locked. Nobody here is who they claim to be. And in this dark place, secrets and lies are so much easier to tell than the truth that could destroy them all. My Review: Loved this locked room style thriller. I flipped back and forth on who I thought was responsible for putting them in there, with each character's back story adding another layer of connection between them all. This is my second J P Pomare book and I will definitely seek out the others as they keep me intrigued and guessing all the way through. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโšฝ Britt-Marie Was Here by Frederik Backman โญโญโญ Synopsis: Britt-Marie walks out on her cheating husband and has to fend for herself in the miserable backwater town of Borg where she finds work as the caretaker of a soon-to-be demolished recreation center. The fastidious Britt-Marie soon finds herself being drawn in by the drunkards, the lazy miscreants and leading the local soccer team. In this small town of misfits, can Britt-Marie find a place where she truly belongs? My Review: I loved Beartown, A Man Called Ove and Anxious People, but I just couldn't get into this one. It was a poor copy of Ove, the same formula but not the same heart. Brit-Marie isn't immediately likeable but you do warm to her. Eventually. Her arguing and demanding manner is not like Ove's incorrigible grumpiness. It's just rude and selfish so it takes a while to find some redeeming features. I'm not sure how the locals warm up to her so quickly (especially the smitten copper) as she's quite hard and inflexible. But luckily they do and it's the best thing for her and the town. I listened to this on audio and Joan Walker does an amazing job. She gives a lot of fun and silliness to the script as well as hitting those darker and sadder moments. Her range of accents was good too. #brittmariewashere #fredrikbackman #fredrikbackmanbooks #amancalledove #beartown #grumpyoldwoman #soccer #newlife #newbeginnings #movingon #recommendedauthor #audiobooks #audiblereview #audiobookreview #joanwalker #bookreview #bookreviewer #booksbooksbooks #booklover #ilovebooks #ilovereading #reader #readmore #readmorebooks

Si todavรญa no conocรฉis esta serie, de verdad que os la recomiendo muchรญsimo.

Siento que he perdido algo... #Reseรฑa #Review #BookReview #ReseรฑaLiteraria #ElPalacioDeLaMedianoche #CarlosRuรญzZafรณn #FavouriteAuthor #misterio #Fantasรญa #RecommendedAuthor #Lectura2024

๐Ÿ˜ฒTHRILLER THURSDAY - 3๏ธโƒฃ THREE FOR THURSDAY - Three Danish Thrillers - I recently discovered Danish author Katrine Engberg and I am loving her books! The three books in this photo are part of a series featuring Detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner and the two I have read are excellent! Both were 4.5 star reads for me. 1๏ธโƒฃ The Butterfly House - Anette is on maternity leave in this book, leaving Jeppe to work with a less enthusiastic partner who makes a difficult investigation even harder. Anette is feeling overwhelmed with motherhood and misses her job, so she does a little unauthorized investigation that puts her in great danger. This book has one of the creepiest showdowns with a killer that Iโ€™ve read in a long time! I was afraid to keep reading, but at the same time, couldnโ€™t read fast enough! 2๏ธโƒฃ The Harbor - Anette and Jeppe are looking for a missing teenager who is assumed to be a runaway. However, a cryptic note found in the young manโ€™s room causes them to think he may have been kidnapped. I love the way the detectives work together in this complex case. 3๏ธโƒฃ The Sanctuary - This book is still part of my #tbrpile. Itโ€™s described as being the last in the series, which is a shame. I missed the first in the series and the second one hasnโ€™t been translated to English. Anette is assigned a gruesome death to investigate, but again teams up with Jeppe who is the one on leave this time. I am eager to read this book! The characters in this are flawed, but likable and I also like the Danish setting. I recommend this series to those who enjoy Nordic Noir or dark, complex procedural thrillers. #bookstagrammer #avidreader #thrillerthursday #threeforthursday #thrillerfan #mysterythriller #proceduralthriller #thrillerbooks #crimefiction #nordicnoir #scandanavianliterature #translatednovels #katrineengberg #kornerandwerner #thebutterflyhouse #recommendedbooks #recommendedauthor

๐Ÿ“š Happy Publication Day to Watch Where They Hide by Tamron Hall. Some people know Tamron Hall as a talk show host, but before that she was a national news anchor - and now sheโ€™s a crime fiction author as well. Thank you to @williammorrowbooks, @netgalley, and Scene of the Crime for the advance copy. Watch Where They Hide is the second book in the Jordan Manning series. Jordan Manning is a television journalist in Chicago who becomes totally invested in the crime stories she reports. While the first book was a suspenseful, thought-provoking thriller, this follow-up is an interesting procedural that includes a behind-the-scenes look into the world of broadcast journalism. Jordan is contacted by a woman who insists her sister is missing even though local law enforcement isnโ€™t taking her seriously. Even though not everything about the story adds up, Jordan wonโ€™t give up until she finds out what really happened to Marla Hancock. I like Jordanโ€™s intelligence and her determination as she fights for justice, but worries that her personal life is taking a back seat to her career. ๐Ÿฆ‚New Book Tease: REDEMPTION๐Ÿฆ‚ โ€ข From the bestselling author of Do No Harm and Conviction, moral dilemma master Jack Jordan is back with another pulse raising thriller. Redemption is hitting shelves this June and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. โ€ข Synopsis taken from Amazon: โ€ข Aaron Alexander has just been released from jail after serving eleven years for causing the death of Joshua Moore in a hit-and-run. Now a free man, all he wants to do is stay on the straight and narrow and leave his troubled past behind him. But for Joshuaโ€™s mother Evelyn, eleven years in jail isnโ€™t nearly enough. Consumed by grief and rage, she has been waiting for Aaronโ€™s release, counting down the days until she can exact the revenge he deserves. And now that time has come. But as Evelyn and her husband Tobias embark on a road trip to track Aaron down, they find themselves caught on two different sides of a gripping game of cat-and-mouse. Because Tobias knows what Evelyn is planning, and he will do anything to save her from herself. Even if it means protecting the man who killed their son. Locked in a collision course set in motion eleven years ago, Aaron, Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out whether the road they have chosen leads to redemption . . . or to retribution. โ€ข A massive thankyou again to @jackjordan_author and @likely_suspects for picking me to be a part of these post-alongs. It's Day 1 of the @onemorechapterhc #hate mail challenge today. They will be running the challenge for 5 days and will give away a prize each and every day. For a chance to win on that particular day. All you have to do is complete the challenge set on any particular day, tag One More Chapter using the hashtags #hatemail #hatemailchallenge and post it on your insta grid or stories. The challenge ends on 20th March, and winners will be drawn on the 22nd. Today's challenge is an easy one for me. The challenge is to post about your favourite author. I didn't even need to give it any thought! It's @tessabaileyisanauthor through and through! I discovered her writing by chance when I read It Happened One Summer for a Blog Tour, and I haven't looked back since. Somehow, she manages to create stories that are totally different to the ones before. Creating female characters that you can't help but relate to and male characters that won't fail in encouraging you to make a 'Book Boyfriends List'. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not to mention, literally taking you on a ridiculous bumpy rollercoaster ride of emotions. To a point where you're literally wrestling with the decision of whether to slow down reading because you don't want it to end, but you want to race ahead to find out what happens next! And let's not forget one of the essential ingredients of any Tessa story.... the spice factor ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒถ. Perfect for a desperate HouseWife living her best life through the written word ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‰. Tessa's stories are everything! And I'm always looking out for the next release date. My only regret? That I didn't manage to get tickets to her recent book tour for Fangirl Down. Which I finished this morning. Probably her best yet of the ones I've read. The books shown in the picture are the ones I have on my tbr that I haven't managed to read yet. I'm holing myself back from reading them all in one fell swoop because I never kmow when the next one is coming and I have to sustain my Tessa Bailey fangirl obsession ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Who's your favourite author? ๐Ÿ˜ #onemorechapterhc #bookchallenge #favouriteauthor #tessabailey #tessabaileyfan #fangirl #bookblog #bookblogger #booklife

๐Ÿ˜ฒ Happy Thriller Thursday, the perfect day to talk about The Contest by Karen Hamilton. Work-Life balance doesnโ€™t exist at Blackmore Vintage Travel. Employees are expected to be available to take calls from bosses and clients at all times. In spite of the demands, Florence loves her job. However, even the privilege of being selected to be one of the travel guides for a VIP group to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is stressful. In addition to the physical strains, the trip has the added stress of an internal competition between tour guides to see who does the best job of impressing their current clients and gaining new ones. Florence is determined to do what it takes to defeat fellow guide Jacob, but he is just as motivated. However, Jacob and the others donโ€™t know that Flo has another motive for this trip that could put her in more peril than the strenuous hike up the mountain. I have enjoyed Karen Hamiltonโ€™s previous books, especially The Perfect Girlfriend. There are a lot of secrets, lies, and backstabbing which adds even more stress than just surviving the elements and having the stamina to complete the hike. It takes a couple of chapters for the book to find a rhythm, but the closer the groups get to the summit, the more tense and claustrophobic the story becomes. I was completely engaged and although sheโ€™s not perfect, I was rooting for Flo and anxious on her behalf. There are some interesting twists gradually revealed throughout the book, with a couple of bombshells at the very end that really surprised me. Fans of the author as well as Lucy Clarkeโ€™s The Hike should enjoy this thriller. #bookstagrammer #thrillerthursday #thrillerbooks #thrillerfan #destinationthriller #twistythriller #recommendedauthor #mountainclimbingfiction #karenhamilton #suspensefulthriller #suspensefulbooks #recommendedbooks

๐Ÿ”Ž Happy Mystery Monday! The prompt for this weekโ€™s #MurderEveryMonday challenge from @armchair_sleuth1920 is for a crime novel whose cover includes the name of a body part in the title. (Check her page for more details on this fun challenge. Anyone can join in at any time.) I chose The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie about residents in an English village who start receiving anonymous poisoned pen letters, leading to a tragic death. I reread this Miss Marple book about a year ago and found it to be a quick, entertaining read. The main characters are siblings Jerry and Joanna Burton who are new to the village. The banter between them is very amusing. The disappointing thing about this book is Miss Marple is barely in it! She makes a couple of brief appearances late in the mystery. She plays an important role in catching the killer, but she was definitely missed throughout most of the book. Fortunately she is there at the very end to wrap things up.and I like the way things turn out for most of the characters. #bookstagrammer #bookcommunity #mysterymonday #bookchallenge #bookcoverchallenge #mysteryfan #bookscavengerhunt #agathachristiefan #missmarple #agathachristie #mysterybook #amateursleuth #femalesleuth #classicmystery #themovingfinger #favoriteauthor #recommendedauthor

Her Final Confession by Lisa Regan is my February pick for two different challenges created by @hook.me.a.book - the Neglected Faithfuls 2024 challenge to read neglected authors or books from our #tbrlist and the Kindle Crush Challenge to read ebooks we are overdue on reading. Iโ€™m still trying to catch up on some of the first books in the Josie Quinn series. Iโ€™ve had Her Final Confession on my Kindle for a while, and I wish I had read it sooner! I have always enjoyed the character of Detective Gretchen Palmer and she is at the center of this book. Things look bad when Josie is called to the scene of a homicide outside Grechenโ€™s house! Gretchen is missing and Josie doesnโ€™t know if her Denton Police Department colleague is another victim or a killer! The book is very intriguing and so suspenseful! You could feel the tension as Josie and her colleague and boyfriend Noah Fraley work to find out the truth about what happened in Gretchenโ€™s driveway. Even though Iโ€™ve read the newer books in the series, I didnโ€™t realize Gretchen had experienced so much trauma in her life, and am glad I learned more about her backstory. This book is one of my favorites of this month and I recommend it to fans of the series who havenโ€™t yet read it or as an introduction to this excellent crime thriller series. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ THRILLER THURSDAY ๐Ÿ“š I read Cara Hunter for the first time a few months ago and my only regret is that I didnโ€™t read her books sooner! Hunter really elevates the procedural thriller with her writing style and the interesting, relatable storylines and characters she creates. I also love the extras such as transcripts of police interviews, excerpts from websites and online forums, and other media to add details to the story in an entertaining way. All the Rage is the fourth book in the DI Adam Fawley series and the second Iโ€™ve read. A teenage girl is abducted, but is able to escape. She just wants to move on and forget the incident, but Fawleyโ€™s team wants to help her and needs her help in return when a second girl is abducted. There is an unexpected development in the investigation and it looks like one of Adamโ€™s old cases could be coming back to haunt him. I love that when things get difficult, Adamโ€™s team still has his back. I was shocked when the truth came out about both the current and the old cases. The end of the book set up something creepy that I assume will come up in a future book, and I canโ€™t wait to find out! I recommend this book and am thankful to @netgalley and @williammorrowbooks for the ebook which is available now. #bookstagrammer #bookreviewer #thrillerthursday #williammorrowbooks #thrillerfan #thrillerbooks #proceduralthriller #policeprocedural #netgalley #carahunter #adamfawley #recommendedauthor #adamfawleyseries #recommendedbook #avidreader

JINX by Jessica Huntley Ex-British soldier Aimee has been medically discharged from the army after sustaining injuries from in IED explosion in the field, where she saved a comrade's life. Suffering from PTSD, she struggles to deal with the after-effects of her past when her ex-fiancee is suddenly murdered. Not only that, but the man she saved those years ago has resurfaced and still seems furious at her for making him live his life as a cripple. Aimee must figure out how she is connected to her ex-partner's death, and try to stay out of the danger that is lurking in the shadows. I really enjoyed this book! I particularly loved how Huntley created psychologically-damaged characters and developed them throughout the story. This book touches on a lot of difficult topics, which makes for tough but compelling scenes - although I would look up the trigger warnings if you are worried that you may be affected. The pacing was quick, and was aided by the chapters which alternated from Aimee's past and present. There are also some chapters thrown in that are told from other characters' perspectives, but these did not seem out of place and actually aid the story by adding more dimensions to the overall narrative. I was thoroughly engaged throughout, and am now very curious to read other books that Huntley has in her catalogue - particularly the 'MY... SELF' series. I rate this book 4.5 stars! . #mostrecentread #indieauthors #readerssupportingauthors #jessicahuntley #jinxbook #jessicahuntleyjinx #bookstagram #kindlebooks #kindlereads #digitalbooks #thrillerbooks #fastpacedbooks #fictionbooks #recommendedauthor #fourandahalfstars #topratedbooks #februaryreads #2024readingchallenge #goodreadschallenge #storygraphchallenge #thrillerreader @jessica_reading_writing

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman (The Thursday Murder Club Book 2) โญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Elizabeth receives a letter from an old colleague who needs her help and it involves diamonds, a violent mobster and someone who isn't afraid of bumping off the 4 septuagenarians in the The Murder Club. My Review: A juicy mystery, a good dose of laughter and even a tear or two. This series is a wonderful read and I love getting to know the characters and seeing them grow. The original four are back as well as Bogdan, (who I grew to love in this book), and the morally grey detectives who round out the Thursday Murder Club. There's lots of new characters and it's fun trying to work out who the killer/s are. There are the biggest clues dropped in the simplest of sentences so you have to keep your wits about you. Alongside the mystery are the characters and how they interact with and support each other, how they cope with getting old, and how they grow even after all these years. They draw on skills from their past and thrive on the thrill of the chase. I just adore them. A very clever and witty series. #themanwhodiedtwice #thethursdaymurderclub #richardosman #richardosmanthethursdaymurderclub #murdermystery #murdermysterybooks #cosymysteries #murdermysteryseries #murdermysteries #whodunnit #whodunit #septuagenarian #bookseries #bookstagram #booklover #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #borrowbox #ilovemylibrary #audiobook #audiobooks #audioreview #bookreview #bookreviewer #reader #readmore #readmorebooks

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโ˜• Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid โญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Elsie and Ben have a whirlwind romance and 9 days after they marry, Ben is killed. We follow Elsie's struggle with moving on and meeting her new mother-in-law, who didn't even know they wed. My Review: This is the last TJR book on my list (which is the first one she wrote). She's my favourite author. I normally listen to them on audio as I love Julie Whelen's voice so much. But this one I read the paperback, held the paperback and I think there was something about that that made it even better. Whilst it is a sad topic and I did shed a tear or twelve throughout the book, it's not a depressing tale. It's about making your way back to normal. Grieving at your own pace, healing in your own time. The experiences from other characters help her to see things from lots of perspectives and this begins her reparative journey. The relationship with her mother-in-law, who she had never met, is a main part of the storyline. They both have big hurdles to overcome and they have to find a way to help each other. I didn't particularly like Elsie, the main character, but allowances need to be made for her situation. It was a beautiful story that finished off her novels perfectly. I truly can't wait to see what she comes up with next. ๐Ÿ“š Happy Publication Day to Face Her Fear by Lisa Regan! ๐Ÿ“š This is the nineteenth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series, but would be the perfect introduction if youโ€™re new to the series. The prior Josie Quinn books Iโ€™ve read can be classified as โ€œProcedural Thrillersโ€, but this book is all thriller! Instead of working on a case with her team, Josie is on her own, isolated from her colleagues, which includes her husband, Noah. Detective Josie Quinn has experienced so much trauma in her life and decides to attend a special trauma retreat recommended by her therapist. Josie will be spending seven days in a secluded setting with five other people. There is no Internet and cell phone coverage is spotty which becomes a problem when one of the participants is found murdered. To make things worse, a blizzard hits, trapping everyone together with limited food and wood for heating. Only aware of the dangers posed by the weather, Noah sets off to get to Josie, but runs into problems of his own. I was a little hesitant when I saw that the format of this book would be different from other books in the series, but I worried for nothing. This is a wonderfully written, suspenseful thriller and I couldnโ€™t read fast enough to find out what would happen next! As the storm gets worse with no sign of help coming, the tension continues to build. Everyone including the retreat leader is keeping secrets so Josie doesnโ€™t know who to trust. I thought I had figured things out, but I only had half the story and loved the dramatic and surprising ending. I highly recommend this book for fans of this series and anyone who enjoys a suspenseful, โ€œlocked roomโ€ type of thriller/survival story. #bookstagrammer #newrelease #netgalley #lisaregan #bookouture #josiequinn #josiequinnseries #faceherfear #thrillerfan #thrillerbooks #mysterythriller #recommendedauthor #recommendedbooks #suspensefulthriller #survivalthriller #avidreader

One of the #acozynewyear bonus prompts for January from @acozyengagement is Library Day. I have way too many books on my shelves that I need to read, but when my turn on the library hold list came up for The Lie Maker, this book took top priority. I have read almost all of Linwood Barclayโ€™s books and have enjoyed them all, and this one is no exception. The Lie Maker book has such a unique premise. A struggling author is approached in a mysterious way with a very unusual job offer - creating false histories for people in the witness protection program. Unknown to most people, Jack is uniquely qualified for this job because his own father has been in the program for many years. This book starts out strong as we meet Jack and learn about his unusual circumstances. It slows a bit in the middle as the point-of-view and timeline changes a couple of times to fill in more of the backstory about Jackโ€™s father. However, the last few chapters ramp up the tension and I couldnโ€™t put the book down. There are several twists and turns that I wasnโ€™t able to figure out, even when I recognized some red flags that Jack missed. The ending is very dramatic and in some ways bittersweet, but is still a satisfying resolution to suspenseful thriller. #bookstagram #bookprompts #acozyengagement #acozynewyear #bookstagramloveslibraries #libraryreads #thrillerfan #thrillerbooks #ebooks #twistythriller #linwoodbarclay #theliemaker #recommendedauthor #suspensefulbooks

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโ˜• Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Eli Bell's life is complicated. His father is lost, his mother is in jail, and his stepdad is a heroin dealer. The most steadfast adult in Eli's life is Slim - a notorious felon who watches over Eli and August, his silent genius of an older brother. He's about to fall in love, if he can survive legendary drug dealer Tytus Broz. My Review: I love books set in Queensland (where I live) and hearing places that you know (Darra, Bribie Island, Redcliffe, Boggo Road Gaol...). I also love books that have Aussie references in them (Milo, Fosseys, KT-26 shoes, Tang, KMart), it just wraps around you like a snugly blanket, reminding you of your own childhood.ย  This coming of age book has a lot going on. Drugs, abuse, jail, murder, mystery, childhood trauma, dismembering psychopaths. But there's also love, acceptance, bravery, truth seeking, story telling and laugh out loud humour. I guffawed quite a lot (and even shed a tear). Trent has a wonderful way with words. It can be beautiful, gritty, heartbreaking, funny but always entertaining. The relationship between the central character, Eli, and his brother August (Gus) was beautiful. So much love, trust and loyalty that it grounded all of the wacko happenings throughout the book. It also shows that people may have done bad things, but it doesn't make them a bad person. Sometimes we make just one wrong decision that will change the course of our lives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see the Netflix adaptation. I hope they capture all the feels that this book had. The narrator, Stig Wemyss, did a wonderful job. He nailed the humour and handled all the other emotions well. He did a great job of the various character voices too. #boyswallowsuniverse #trentdalton #trentdaltonauthor #comingofage #comingofagebook #australianauthor #australianartist #australianbooks #aussieauthor #aussiebooks #aussiehumour #audiobook #australianfiction #stigwemyss #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #recommendedreading #fivestarread #bookreview #bookreviews #bookreviewer #reader #ilovebooks #readthisbook #readmorebooks

โœจAUTHOR SPOTLIGHTโœจ My third author spotlight of the year has to go to @karinslaughterauthor The first book I read by the author was Girl, Forgotten as part of a readalong in 2022 (itโ€™s been borrowed now). Since then I was hooked into the clever settings, atmosphere, gruesome twists and the characters especially since discovering Will Trent. It was such an eye opener for me! I have not been reading this series in order at all but feel like Iโ€™m not missing out too much on the plot, however I am trying to start from the beginning and catch up on the whole backlog. This is one crime thriller author I am obsessed with (and got me into Thrillers) and can not recommend enough! โ“Since itโ€™s also #thrillerthursday - are there any thriller authors you will always recommend? Recommendations by Aesthetics ๐Ÿฅ€ Belles of Broad Street Series by @aklandow_author โ—Conflicting Ventures โ—Indecent Ventures โ—Unexpected Ventures โ—Enchanted Ventures ๐ŸStory Time๐Ÿ I was introduced to AK Landow last year when I was new to Bookstagram. I signed up for one of my first book tours and got to read Conflicting Ventures. I loved it so much that I couldn't resist signing up for Indecent Ventures as well as her street team. Through her hype team group, I had the chance to read the other two books and met some amazing and hilarious people. AK Landow's stories are just freakishly awesome and make me laugh hard. My connection with every character from this series is unforgettable, undeniable and indescribable. Her writing and description style are my favourite. One author whose books I will read without a second thought is @aklandow_author. Although I am yet to review her recent release, I can assure you that they are a blast. She carries each and every character with her in the story. Everything is so beautifully crafted and presented that you can't help but fall in love. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโ˜• The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman โญโญโญโญ Synopsis: In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders. But when a brutal killing takes place on their very doorstep, the Thursday Murder Club find themselves in the middle of their first live case. My Review: I have seen this book a lot lately (and it's brothers in the series) so I knew it must be good. It was...for the most part. Great characters (the mystery almost takes second place to the beautiful relationships between everyone), great plot idea, great setting (oldies in a retirement home can get away with so much), great use of comedy and lots of twisty turn red herrings. Too many red herrings. I often had to flick back to remind myself who a character was (there's over 20 central characters) and just when you think you've solved it (and they think they've solved it), nope, there's another side story/mystery but not the original murder. Whilst you don't want the mystery to be easy, I felt like we were wading through a plethora of old memories and happenings. I still really enjoyed it but I might keep a list of characters with me next time to keep me on track. This is not meant to be a negative review just an observation and the reason I didn't give it five stars. #thethursdaymurderclub #richardosman #richardosmanthethursdaymurderclub #murdermystery #murdermysterybooks #murdermysteries #murdermysteryseries #mysteryreads #mysterybooks #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #greatcharacters #bookreview #bookreviewer #audiobook #audiobookreview #borrowbox #locallibrary #supporyourlocallibrary #read #reader #ilovebooks #ilovereading #readmorebooks

โœจ Reseรฑa 2023 โœจ Confieso que no me hacรญan demasiada gracia al principio, pero conforme avanzaba la historia y sabiendo lo que viene (p*tos spoilers) he disfrutado mรกs sus tramas. Manon, mi villana favorita, estรก empezando a plantearse cosas, y no le gusta nada.

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโ˜• Kill Your Husbands by Jack Heath โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Three couples travel to a house in the mountains for an unplugged weekend of drinking and bushwalking. No internet, no phones, no stress. On the first night, the topic of partner-swapping comes up. It's a joke - at first. But then someone dies, another goes missing...and the killer is just getting started. My Review: A fantastic locked room style whodunnit. That was a rollercoaster ride with me suspecting nearly all of the 'friends' at some point. The twists just kept coming. They all start off as light hearted friends but the deeper into the book you go, the deeper the characters become and the more complex the relationships between them. Their convoluted lives, pasts, secrets and desires all become a melting pot, with it simmering until it boils over into murder. Stripping away the layers to get to the truth is a task I wouldn't envy. I wish I'd known about Kill your Brother (the first in the series) beforehand but, from what I can gather, this can be read as a standalone. Perhaps the first book would have given a bit more context to the relationship between the investigating detective, Kiara, and her partner Elise (who Book 1 is focused on) for this one but not enough to impact the story. A thoroughly recommended read by an Aussie author. #killyourhusbands #jackheath #lockedroommystery #murdermystery #mysteryreads #whodunnit #whodunit #crimefiction #mysterybooks #mysterythriller #australianartist #australianauthors #australianauthor #australianbooks #aussiebooks #aussieauthor #aussieauthors #wifeswapweekend #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #recommendedreading #audiobookreview #bookreview #bookreviewer #readmorebooks #readmore

๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒฒโญ๐ŸŽ The Christmas Star by Kate Forster โญโญโญโญโญ Synopsis: Julia is dreading family Christmas since her step sister bragged about her dreamy new pilot boyfriend she's bringing. Until she meets Sam, who's a dead ringer for movie star, Hugo Turner, and they hatch a plan to fake a relationship between her and the 'star'. It's all for fun and it's their little secret. But Sam has a secret of his own... My Review: I'm really loving Kate Forster's books right now. Short and sweet stories that pack a punch and have all the feels. This is my favourite so far. I loved the relationship build up between Julia and Sam. They had a lovely banter sprinkled with humour throughout. There are also some family dynamics side plots with the mother and step sister that add interest to the overall story and add extra laughs to the mix. Definitely a winner for me. ๐Ÿ“– The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker ๐Ÿ“– I'm changing genre with some New Adult this week. I really enjoyed reading this one as it offers so much more than an enemies turned to lovers type of novel. There are no ladybugs in here (I received a lovely card via postcrossing recently from Kroatia) but I thought it fit with the book. There are a few cute raccoons though that do make an appearance. I wasn't wild about Alaska before but this novel will definitely make you appreciate it so much more! ๐Ÿ“šBook Review๐Ÿ“š Such A Loving Couple by Hayley Smith โญโญโญโญ/5 Becka woke up in a hospital after an accident. She couldn't remember anything, except for her own name. And there was a man who was at her bed side claiming to be her husband. Freddie was such a loving man and he had all photographs to prove her he was her husband. However, there was a sinking feeling that something was not quite right. Hayley Smith is a new author to me. For a debut author, this was a page turner! It was fast paced, suspenseful and entertaining. I love how the multiple POVs help to unveil the puzzle and mystery, and thus fitting the pieces together. I deducted a star because I felt the ending was a bit too convenient. If you love The Housemaid, The Family Upstairs and The Serial Killerโ€™s Wife, you might love this thrilling psychological thriller too. #bookblog #bookgram #booklovers #bookstagrammalaysia #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookreviewer #igreads #igreadsmalaysia #igbookreview #igreader #thriller #psychologicalthriller #recommendedbook #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #bookphotography #bookphoto #booksandcoffee #thrillerreads #thrillerreader #ilovereading #ilovebooks

Yo ahรญ me pierdo completamente. He leรญdo este libro en una lectura conjunta con @lalibretadenani, al igual que el primero.

๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“š Three of my favorite authors were born on this date! They have so many quotes to inspire, here are one from each" Louisa May Alcott "Keep good company, read good books, love good things and cultivate soul and body as faithfully as you can.โ€ Madeleine L'Engle "A self is not something static, tied up in a pretty parcel and handed to the child, finished and complete. A self is always becoming. C.S. Lewis "What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are.โ€ #qotd what author have you been reading the longest? #aotd I would say, given these authors were in my life the longest, I've reread so many times, and I'm getting ready to reread Little Women, who I consider a Christmas Read, it's one of them. Chronicles of Narnia hits the season, too! #authorquotes #louisamayalcott #madeleinelengle #cslewis #favoriteauthor #recommendedauthor #whattoread #quotes #wordsofwisdom #wordstoliveby

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธโ˜• The Call by Christian White & Summer De Roche. โญโญโญโญ Synopsis: A pub owning, strapped for cash couple receive a phone call offering them $100, 000 to bury a body on their land. My Review: Another fantastic short and sweet free Audible listen. A great story that has you asking yourself, "Would I do that?". The characters were likeable and relatable (I'd probably get paranoid too if I was in their position) and their relationship was perfect for this story. The ending had a few great curveballs and the epilogue added another great twist. It kept me intrigued the whole time. Definitely recommend. #thecall #christianwhite #summerderoche #sibyllabudd #audiobook #freeaudiblebook #audibleoriginal #aussiebooks #australianauthors #australianauthor #aussieauthor #aussieauthors #australianbooks #suspensestories #suspensebooks #offeryoucantrefuse #whatwouldyoudo #recommendedauthor #recommendedreads #bookreview #bookreviewer #reader #read #readmorebooks #readthisbook #ilovebooks #ilovereading

My first ARC book reviewโ€ผ๏ธ Before I Saw You by Ashley Elizabeth โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ โ€œWe all know the rhyme. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Except that's a lie. Because his words didn't just hurt me, they broke my heart. A heart that has only ever beat for him. Shattering me. But after one moment stuck in an elevator together, his walls come down and buried feelings crawl to the surface to play. And play, we do. So I forgive him. It's hard not to when he's been the only man I've ever loved. The only man able to give me what I need. But the question is, will he forgive me?โ€ I am so behind on posting this, life is crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฉ BUT I am so thankful and blessed to have been able to read the ARC of Before I Saw You๐Ÿฅน I fell in love with Before I Tell You which I had just happened to have finished when I found out I would be sent this ARC. I loved Vanessa and Jason. This close proximity, enemies to lovers romance takes you for a ride with both duel POVs and timelines. The spice is to die for and you feel both their hurt and love in your bones๐Ÿฉป At times I hated Jason for blaming her brothers actions on Vanessa or taking it out on her, but depicted such a true image of healing and closure in the situation theyโ€™re in. The realistic situation that Jasonโ€™s sister and Vanessaโ€™s best friend, Natalie has gone through is such a real and raw occurrence that happens in the world we live in. And I admire the way this book depicts her healing and closure, and the effect and healing process others in her life go through as wellโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน I knew as friends with benefits was mentioned that it wouldnโ€™t last long as just that โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ If you havenโ€™t read Before I Saw You and Before I Tell you, youโ€™re missing out.
