My beautiful mother, Betty. She was a wonderful classical pianist but could kick out some serious ragtime and soul. She studied at the Barnes in the 1960’s and took me to many museums, always explaining the art in a fun and interesting way. Celebrating Our Mothers As Queens... Beautiful People, Most of my life I've had to share My Mother, Betty J Tilman. I shared her with great grandparents and grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins and so many, many other people. Often they were people of different races, religions, and cultures; with languages I didn't (and sometimes still don't) understand. People from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and yes, even North America took to Her Love like brown or white on rice, red on apples, yellow on bananas, and green on tree leaves. Over the years that I have known her, I have discovered that countless numbers throughout the World called her a Dear Friend and named her GodMother or Aunt to their Children. There were many times I felt left behind. I often was. When she marched for Civil Rights in the segregated states, she left her young, willful, outspoken daughter in the safety of family friends. When she bicycled miles and miles with the Peace and Freedom Movement or went off to study Transcendental Meditation, my thought was "What About Me?" The Truth Is--- My Mother has and does use her energy, her voice (now from the Spirit Realm) and resources for equal rights for Me and All People of all cultures, race and religions. There is Miss Betty, Aunt Betty, Lady Betty, and MOMBetty but in the Castle of My Heart, she will always be the ONE who gave ME, her daughter the opportunity to Grow with Wisdom, to Shine with Confidence and Learn to Love beyond my imagination. The power of music never ceases to amaze me! If I’m being honest, I was not ecstatic about going to tonight’s concert, I was excited sure, but not my normal concert excitement. I knew who Lauren Daigle was, I knew a few of her songs but I went because I knew my Mom and sister Ashley wanted to go, not because I had a huge desire to attend. That being said, this is one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The stage set up was amazing, the band and back up singers were phenomenal and Lauren herself is an indescribable force. The things she says, the way she moves, the quality of her voice, and the words she sings you can actually feel that is who she is at her core. I was so blown away by all of the performers on stage I didn’t know where to look. If you find yourself near one of her shows, GO! Enmeshed children may feel like they can’t make decisions on their own… Even as adults. Children of enmeshed relationships may feel guilty or ashamed if they don’t comply with their parents wishes. They don’t think about what’s best for them, they are always wanting to please or take care of their parents and that is not healthy. A strong bond is positive but your mother does not need to know every single detail about YOUR relationship. You don’t need to call and ask what do you think before every decision you make! And she should want that for you bc one day she may not be here and you should be able to do life according to your own internal guidance system… I recently discussed on the LIVE with my mother the difficult journey of coming out of an enmeshed relationship but how much better it is now. Having AWESOME friends is a blessing. My friend Inger asked me about Mother’s Day. I said it is happy and sad for me because I lost my mom when I was in my 20s. I’m now in my 60s and it feels like yesterday. She then asked me: Our birthdays (both in August) Our birthstones ( Emerald) Flowers we liked (wildflowers) My mom’s favorite colors ( apple green and orange)- my dad got our kitchen painted in those colors. THEN today this arrived from my creative awesome friend Inger. She made this door wreath. OMG! I didn’t know our conversation was leading to this. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, grandmas, aunties and anyone who was a mom to someone. My mom had great best friends who stepped up and were mentor moms to be @Margaretta Hickman and Estelle Irving. I feel blessed for the great women in my life ❤️
