Honoring my maiden era โจ Along with my sisters @agua._.lila & @sensual.alchemy_ , Iโve spent the last few days reflecting and embodying the maiden energy that has brought me to today. I see the playful, hopeful spirit that allowed me to travel the world, try new things, and trust others. But on the other side, thereโs the girl who didnโt know how to set boundaries, let herself get taken advantage of, and waited for a man to step in to save her. Iโve felt it all. Iโve been through it all. I still feel her in my spirit alive today. And as I dive deeper into motherhood, I feel called to honor this part of me. To hug her and heal her so I donโt bring the same cycles to my baby. To allow the maiden to thrive within as I play, dance, and laugh. To embody my maiden so fully in both shadow and light. โMum, act cool!โ She said โI canโt act. I canโt swallow this feeling downโ I said with a squeal. โIโm 16 and itโs Summer!โ She beams, hair blowing in the wind. New hair do A new dress that she stayed up late making Mustang Sally blaring on the radio Rolling laughter Eyes wet I look at her. Golden sun revealing orange in her eyes. Marigolds -and theyโre blooming. A young woman who knows herself deeply. Last night we ate carbonara on the floor. She asked โWhat was it like when you were 16?โ And I felt the truth come in close. โI felt mainly confused and depressed. I lost a friend to suicide and had no clue what to do with that. I didnโt know who I was and I dedicated myself to a relationship that was unhealthy to say the least. I started drinking vodka.โ My most favourite thing this year is her. We spent the year homeschooling/unschooling . Creating space to unfold. Holding the presence required to deeply meet ourselves. This Maiden in my home, a mirror- but with the opposite reflection. Healed. Whole. Hearty. Seen. Heard. I love her. Powerful healing and medicine last week, with a circle of wise women at The Avalon Priory. Having my own teenage self witnessed, her fears, her wounds.... speaking her shame..... these wonderful women sang her home, and gave her all she needed. I will be able to show up for the girls that Iโll be working with, without projecting my wounds onto them..... showing up for them as an authentic adult...I wish this ceremony for every woman, so we may start new paradigms for our girls. We were honoured to work with therapy horses on the land to give ourselves the boundaries we were never given as teenagers...... and just look at that wise old cedar..... #mentor #healingthemaiden
