The ABC murders by Agatha Christie This month’s #readchristie2024 pick was a reread for me, but I decided to go with it as I hadn’t yet read this very stylish special edition 😍 This book has a great hook - a serial killer who kills alphabetically - and at first it seems impossible for anyone to find the murderer, even Poirot. The victims, aside from their names, are selected seemingly at random, the only clue an ABC railway guide left by the body… It was nice to see Poirot and Hastings reunited - older, balder and perhaps even wiser; there’s no sniping from Poirot about Hastings’s stupidity, and no sneering from Hastings like there is in their earlier outings. Despite knowing whodunnit, whydunnit and how, I still really enjoyed my reread. I had fun spotting the clues (plus one or two red herrings) and really appreciated how Christie pulls off this very clever mystery. . . . . #readchristie #theabcmurders #agathachristie #agathachristiebooks #dameagathachristie #thequeenofcrime #goldenagecrime #puzzlemystery #murdermystery #whodunnit #crimefiction #crimefictionaddict #poirot #herculepoirot #poirotandhastings #arthurhastings #recommendedreading #bookishflatlay #prettybooks #specialeditionbooks #herculepoirotmystery #bookstagrammer #bookstagramuk #readersofinstagram #readersgonnaread #crimereader #cosycrime #reread #rereading

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’. Movement is so important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to move enough. there are are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week why don’t you try to find moments for movement in your daily routines? Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, taking the stairs instead of the lift, getting off the bus a stop early, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts! I’m a huge advocate for being active. Keeping active is so good for my mental health. It’s also when I’m most creative! #fiction #reading #nonfictionbooks #proofreading #recommendedreading #bookshop #transcription #ukveteranbusiness #ukveterans #forestofbowland #bowlandfells #bowlandeditorial #militaryinbusiness #veteranowned #everywordcounts #writerscommunity #writersofinstagram #bookstagram #selfpublishing #authorsofinstagram #militaryhistory #militaryaviation #veteranownedbusiness #businessmumsuk #womeninbusiness #writingtips #defenceandtechnology #outdooradventures #adventurewriting #thegreatoutdoors

💚💙GREENWILD:THE CITY BEYOND THE SEA💙💚Finally!!!!! Picking up almost immediately after where the first novel left us, we return to this amazing world woven from vines and creepers in front of the eyes of our imagination. Artemis is readying a search party to go off to the Amazon in search of the missing botanists. The Five O’ Clock Club, plus its feathered and furred friends are preparing for their impending exams whilst reeling from recent events when Daisy receives a letter which changes everything and forces them into action. In another part of the world, Max is being held prisoner and must attempt a daring escape from his captors. When Daisy and her friends hear about a place called Iffenwild where Blue Magic reigns supreme, they must embark on a mission to call the Iffenwilders to arms and try to unite Blue and Green Magic to rise up and defeat the evermore powerful Grim Reapers, intent on destruction of Greenwild in order to take its valuable power and use it for their own evil gain. Max and Daisy must overcome their differences (which are based in their many similarities!) and work together to try to save Greenwild, Iffenwild and even the Greyside from this dark, sinister threat. But who can they trust…… Just when you thought that the Greenwild was the most amazingly created world, built to perfection by Pari Thomson in the first book, she goes and does it all over again and gives us Iffenwild too. She has created another truly mesmerising novel with such wonderous world building that it is easy to forget that there is also a fabulous adventure with multiple heroes, and multiple villains, plus an extremely important environmental message in this book too. “Green magic is dying and the systems which have kept it alive for centuries – the forests, the oceans and the ice peaks – are being weakened beyond endurance.” Nobody owns the Earth, we need to nurture it if we want it to nurture us and stop the people in power stripping it for their own gain, greed and ambition. We are overjoyed that this series is not over but we are heartbroken that we have to wait for the next book to be published! Our Book Clubbers age 8+ adored this one.

*Ad/Pr Product - Gifted* • The Librarians of Rue De Picardie by Janet Skelton Charles is a fascinating work of historical fiction published last month. • Description 1918: As the Great War rages, Jessie Carson takes a leave of absence from the New York Public Library to work for the American Committee for Devastated France. Founded by millionaire Anne Morgan, this international group of women helps rebuild devastated French communities just miles from the front lines. Upon arrival, Jessie strives to establish something that the French have never seen - children’s libraries. She turns ambulances into bookmobiles, and trains the first French female librarians. Then she disappears. • 1987: When aspiring writer Wendy Peterson stumbles across a passing reference to Jessie Carson while working in the archives of the New York Public Library, she becomes consumed with learning about her fate. In her obsessive research Wendy discovers that she and the elusive librarian have more in common than their work at New York’s famed library, but she has no idea that their paths will converge in surprising ways across time. • Based on the extraordinary, little - known history of these women who received the Croix De Guerre medal for courage under fire, this is a fascinating story of women, strength and resilience. The power of books to unite and the importance of libraries to bring people together, to build communities. • Thank you to Federica@headlinebooks for my finished copy of this impressive book.

🌿 FAQ: “I’m looking for a good book, can you recommended something for me?” 🤩 I get asked this question so many times that I decided to put together an ebook that includes 24 of my favourite recommended reads over the past few years. 🌿 I’m not going to drop too many titles that are in my eBook but here is one… Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. One of her many brilliant books 📚 💛 I know one of my baby book club mamas has bought this one after seeing it in my eBook so I can’t wait to hear what she thought of it when she’s read it 😍 🌿 You can find ‘Jordan’s Recommended Reads’ on my website (link is in the bio). ✨ It’s only £4.50 so if you’re looking for some good books plus some tips on how to create a reading habit, look no further 😁 If you’ve already purchased my ebook, has it helped you pick out some future reads? Oliver Sacks ""A man who mistook his wife for a hat". One of the classical books that will serve as a great collection of psychological and psychiatric pecularities. The feeling is like visiting an old steam punk style museum of pathological anatomy that is a bilt scary but also amazing. A couple reflections on my longest love interest 🫠🩰 I really enjoyed @alicelrobb’s exploration of ballet, femininity, culture and identity in her book ‘Don’t Think Dear: On Loving & Leaving Ballet’. Particularly interesting is the way dancers experience and endure pain - and how this can carry through to life outside the ballet studio. Definitely one for your summer reading list! 🙆🏼‍♀️ #ballet #balanchineballet #balletphotography #balletinspiration #balletdancer #recommendedreading #whatimreading #booksfordancers #bookstagram

As today is Mother's Day, this week's #SundayBookRecommendation is a classic work celebrating the power of women, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ "Women Who Run With the Wolves." First published more than thirty years ago, this work explores the rich, intercultural myths, fairy tales, and stories of the Wild Woman, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Through the stories and commentaries in this remarkable book, the reader retrieves, examines, and understands the Wild Woman archetype. Maya Angelou says, “The work shows the reader how glorious it is to be daring, to be caring, and to be women. Everyone who can read should read this book.” Wishing all the strong, caring, and amazing women out there a special day with those you love! #womenwhorunwiththewolves #clarissapínkolaestés #bookrecomendation #recommendedreading #books #bookstagram #booklover #mothersday

📚 Bookish Tea Tag 🫖 Thank you for tagging me @lauralovesbookishthings! This is the perfect tag for me as I love books and tea. I thought I’d also feature my Penguin book cover mugs. 🍵 Green Tea - A Classic You Love Mansfield Park by Jane Austen 🍂 Chamomile - A Popular Book You Didn’t Love The Midnight Library by Matt Haig 🌺 Hibiscus Tea - An Author you Love Laini Taylor! I loved the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series and I instantly bought the Strange the Dreamer duology. 🍯 Honey Lemon Tea - A Book That Makes You Happy The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. I’m not going to lie, this was the hardest one to pick. Most of the books I read aren’t very joyful (lol). I’m more of a thriller, horror, crime gal (I nearly picked Schrader’s Chord by Scott Leeds because I was happy I found such an original horror book that surprised me in many ways). I ended up going with an Ali Hazelwood book because I do scream internally every time I read one of these. 🫖 Darjeeling Tea - A Translated Book You Love Before Your Memory Fades by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. This whole series is just perfection. 💮 Jasmine Tea - A Book With A Pretty Cover The Beauty and the Beast by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot De Villeneuve. The Minalima illustrated editions are so beautiful! 🍃 Peppermint Tea - A Comfort Book The Wonderland Collection/Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll 🍵 Matcha - The Book You Keep Talking About Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan. I literally have not stopped recommending this book since I read it back in 2022. ☕️ Masala Chai - An Iconic Book Character Rosalind Lang in Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong. I just finished this book and WOW I’m obsessed. Tagging a few bookish pals but anyone is free to try it out!

Listen for the Lie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Lucy Chase was found wandering around, covered in blood, the night her best friend Savvy was murdered. She has no memory of the night, but everyone thinks she did it.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣5 years later she’s back in town for her grandmother’s birthday, as is a true crime podcaster determined to discover the truth. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Sick of not knowing what happened, she teams up with the podcaster and learns many secrets about the people she used to know… and that night. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣I bloody loved this book. Lucy was just an awesome character. Super sarcastic and hilariously funny. My fave moment of the book was when someone makes a comment at her nanna’s birthday along the lines of “we all know who murdered Savvy” and Lucy puts her hand up 🤣🤣🤣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Definitely recommend. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ #listenforthelie #crimefiction #thrillerbooks #readwomen #aussiebookstagrammer #aussiebookstagram #recommendedreading #bookreview

⭐️ 4.75 / 5.00 ⭐️ If you’re looking for your next suspense/thriller book, may I suggest this? This had a hold on me from the first page, and never let go. It’s definitely a “Just one more chapter” type of read. Oh AND … it’s available on Kindle Unlimited! 🩷 ***** 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Christopher and Hannah are a happily married surgeon and nurse with picture-perfect lives. All that’s missing is a child. When Janie, an abandoned six-year-old, turns up at their hospital, Christopher forms an instant connection with her, and he convinces Hannah they should take her home as their own. But Janie is no ordinary child, and her damaged psyche proves to be more than her new parents were expecting. Janie is fiercely devoted to Christopher, but she acts out in increasingly disturbing ways, directing all her rage at Hannah. Unable to bond with Janie, Hannah is drowning under the pressure, and Christopher refuses to see Janie’s true nature. Hannah knows that Janie is manipulating Christopher and isolating him from her, despite Hannah’s attempts to bring them all together. But as Janie’s behavior threatens to tear Christopher and Hannah apart, the truth behind Janie’s past may be enough to push them all over the edge. . . . . . #heygracemariereads #kindleunlimited #kindlebooks #kindlereads #goodreads #readingchallenge #mayreads #suspense #suspensethriller #recommendedreading #bookrec #booktok #bookstagram #bookworm

My favourite author, Khaled Hosseini has collaborated with @uniqlo in their charity t-shirt project where every purchase contributes towards international humanitarian efforts. . I love this t-shirt design and all that it represents. In his own words ‘I grew up flying kites in pre-war Afghanistan and always associate them in my mind with peace. My design is a reminder that we are at our best when we approach one another with dignity and resolve our differences through mutual understanding and respect’ @khosseini . Review: “This Summer Will Be Different” by Carley Fortune 3.5/5 ⭐️ Lucy’s best friend Bridget is from Prince Edward Island and she loves vacationing there to escape her busy life in Toronto. Each summer she experiences the magic and sees some of her favorite people, including Bridget’s brother Felix who she is drawn to immediately. The problem is they can’t tell anyone, and they don’t live in the same place. How would it ever work? There are two timelines in this book, and the author does a good job blending them together like in her previous novels. I didn’t love this one as much as those and felt a bit disappointed. Bridget got on my nerves with hiding a secret for half the book. Lucy and Felix didn’t seem that believable until the end. I did like how it all came together. A good setting and quick summer read! 📚 #thissummerwillbedifferent #carleyfortune #summerreading #fiction #romance #berkleyromance #readmorebooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #mayreads #bookrecommendations #recommendedreading

🎾 What's the last book you could not put down? For me it was Carrie Soto is Back by the wonderful Taylor Jenkins Reid. I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo in a day last year, and this was no different. Her writing is atmospheric, engaging and tense and I absolutely love the way it grabs the reader. I read 80 pages last night and picked it right back up again this morning, and I couldn't stop thinking about it, which, for me, is a sign of a fantastic read. One of the easiest 5☆ reads this year so far for me. #carriesotoisback #taylorjenkinsreid #sportsfiction #recommendedreading #summerreads #mybestfriendsarefictional

Staff Pick Saturday! Emma recommends: Maybe Next Time by Cesca Major. I confess that I picked up this book solely on the description of it being “One Day meets Groundhog Day”. Say no more! So if you love a light yet thought-provoking time-loop story to sit back and relax with during this lovely sunny weather, then Maybe Next Time you might pick this up too 😊 Emma is a busy literary agent, pre-occupied with work and her ever increasing to-do list. So much so, she forgets her anniversary, leading to an argument with her husband that changes everything and sends her world crashing down around her. Waking up the next morning, she slowly realises she is miraculously reliving the same day and has a chance to make things right but no matter what she tries, nothing changes the outcome. As she navigates the time-loop over and over, she is forced to slow down and appreciate what is truly important in her life. Two recent & very special finds. A first US edition of The Honeyman Festival by Marian Engel (I have the paperback but have been waiting to find a hardcover…sometimes finding an edition in the wild is more satisfying than buying online) and Enchanted Summer by Gabrielle Roy. Funny story about Enchanted Summer: I pulled this edition from the shelf the last time I was in Victoria (two years ago) and thought it was beautiful but for whatever reason decided against buying it. I mentioned this to the bookseller, he checked his inventory list and said “This has been in the store for years—it’s been waiting for you!” The magic of book shopping. Also—the author photos in these are outstanding!

I LOVE reader feedback! "I have finished your book (The family Rakusko) on Myrtle Beach and I must say, it was a lot of fun. Your creativity and attention to detail mixed with history was great. Your appendixes were both interesting and very helpful. I grew up in Lexington, so being from the Boston area, I loved the references to early America." If you haven't read this novel yet, you are in for a huge treat! Of all the books I've written, I confess this is my favorite! You may order your copy from my website bookstore at MartinHermanAuthor.Com This story line started out as a short story about a woman, a real person, who ran a town, not officially, she was never elected or appointed, she was a scammer who hated the British, especially those who wandered into her small bar which was on the ground floor of a dilapidated building that once was a hotel - of sorts. It was a small item I came across while researching another book. I really let my imagination go wild. The family tree was the first thing I wrote - the book just complimented the family tree. I started with three generations and before I knew it four hundred years, ten generations were done. There is real and pretend on every page. Enjoy! - Marty . . #historicalfiction #readerschoice #historicalnovels #recommendedreading #readerreviews #fiction #authorscommunity #authorsofinstagram #greatreviews #readerappreciation #lovemyreaders

11.05.24 #caledonianroad 📗 [This book was kindly #gifted to me by @faberbooks - thank you so much! ] 📗 I LOVED this book! It absolutely lives up to the praise that keeps coming for it and is well worth the time investment of reading a longer novel. 📗 A year in the life of Campbell Flynn - a celebrity art historian - who lives a privileged life with many influential connections. It is 2021, post-Brexit and the beginnings of a post-pandemic Britain are emerging. Currently, Campbell's biggest inconvenience in life is Mrs Voyles, the sitting tenant living in the basement of his Islington house. 📗 When Campbell becomes drawn into the ideas and influences of Milo Mangasha, one of his students, he discovers some life changing realities that shatter his world. 📗 Andrew O'Hagan sets his state of the nation novel along London's Caledonian Road, where we meet a whole array of characters (I love books with character casts at the beginning) From gang members to the peerage, everyone is expertly connected Dickensian-style by O'Hagan in this brilliant depiction of modern Britain. Seven Summers ☀️ • Another emotional, beautiful and heartbreaking read. I know which happy ending I was rooting for with Liv as we followed her through her journey with both Finn and Tom but the ending did not go in the way I expected, I loved it and yet it broke my heart at the same time. 📚REVIEW📚 The last thing to burn By @willrdean ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Swipe for synopsis This book really pulled me in from the first page. Immediately you know something isn’t right from the vivid description of Jane’s ruined ankle and the fact that she is clearly trying to escape something. It is a very dark story and I was hooked on Jane’s journey, from how she got to where she is now and to what she does to protect herself. I’m no stranger to this authors work and each book, although different, has something that just pulls you in from start to finish. A great read, highly recommend. #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookrecommendations #recommendedreading #thelastthingtoburn #willdean #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #the_great_book_escape #bookishpost #bookishfeed #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookcommunity #booksofinstagram #bibliophile #reader #readerlife #readersofinstagram #readerforlife #reading #mayreads #books #bookworm #bookish #bookblogger

Just finished The Roadmap To Financial Freedom - A Millionaire’s Guide to Building Automated Wealth by Brennan Schlagbaum @budgetdog and to follow are a few of the many quotes that resonate from this recommended read: “Understanding your financial and life goals, tracking your money, growing your money, and protecting your money are what this Book is about.” “By missing just 10 of the market’s best days, the sidelines investor made a 5.33% return each year on average instead of a 9.52% return that a buy and hold investor made each year, for 20 years.” (Christian Hudspeth, CFP in his article’The Cost of Missing the 10 Best Days of the Stock Market.” “Rule of Thumb for Cash 1. Keep 1-2 months of expenses in a checking account. 2. Have 3-6 months of expenses in high yield savings account (HYSA) for your emergency fund. 3. Set aside relevant money for your sinking fund. 4. All other cash should be moved towards fast-tracking your goals.” “Rule of Thumb for Stocks: For retirement, calculate 120-age = % in stocks. The remainder should go to other assets listed here.” “Investment Rule of Thumb: You can figure out the amount of money you need to be financially free by multiplying the amount you spend on an annual basis by 25. The result of that equation is your financial freedom amount.” “One of the most common questions about investing is when to begin investing. The answer essentially is now, or once all your bad debt, outside of your mortgage, is paid off first, and you have a fully funded emergency fund of 3 - 6 months of monthly expenses.” 📷 IG gregfranktravel #FlashbackTravel Balboa Pier - 9/30/22 #GregFrankTravel #RecommendedReading #BookReview #Investor #Entrepreneur #InvestInYourFuture #InvestInYourself #Entrepreneurial #FinancialLiteracy #FinancialFreedom #Investing #WealthBuilding #reflectionsbygreg

🌾 I’ve been rereading Screwtape Letters lately and it got me thinking. So, if you have a moment to delve into a thought with me…do proceed. 💭 So many people are scrambling in this society to not be seen as the bad guy or the enemy. Apologies are being made, values abandoned, to the point of accepting and tolerating practices or beliefs that should not be accepted on any terms let alone agreeable ones. And yet here we are, terrified of being seen as the enemy or opposition to louder voices than our own. 🌾 The reality is, you are naturally going to be the enemy to some thoughts or beliefs that are different to your own depending on the point of view. Be careful that you are not so eager to appear an ally to ideologies that are your enemy. Depending on who is in your company, you are going to be the enemy, and that is the correct place to be. 💭 Thank you for your indulgence, carry on. ☺️ #cslewis #theenemy #screwtapeletters #recommendedreading #recommendation #somethingtothinkabout #becomfortablebeinguncomfortable

✨ⓑⓞⓞⓚ ⓡⓔⓥⓘⓔⓦ✨ Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors “Do you know the word humiliate comes from the Latin root humus, which means ‘earth’? That’s how love is supposed to feel.”  “Like hummus?”  “Like earth. It grounds you. All this nonsense about love being a drug, making you feel high, that’s not real. It should hold you like the earth.” Plot: Aspiring artist Cleo is 24 when she meets ad executive Frank, 20 years her senior. The two embark on a whirlwind romance and impulsively marries. Over the course of the next year, the the two clash and make up as their relationship takes turn after turn, upending their lives, as well as the lives of those closest to them. I’ve never watched A Marriage Story, but I imagine it’s something close to this. But this was so beautiful and tender and unexpectedly moving. Why did I tear up at the end?? This isn’t even my marriage!  I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed this considering the plot isn’t exactly new or groundbreaking. I guess the writing and characters were so good that it elevated the narrative. I felt oddly protective of Cleo throughout the entire book, and I even felt moments of empathy toward Frank. The multi-character POVs were fascinating and equally rich. I cannot overstate how well written this was. I also loved this quote: “That was part of marrying in a hurry, he supposed. You had to do it before you knew enough not to.” This book was full of interesting observations like this. I just know Coco Mellors is one of the most perceptive and curious writers around. 4/5 ⭐️ #bookstagram #books #readinglist #TBR #bookrecommendations #bookreview #recommendedreading #bookrecs #booklovers #readinggoals #readinglog #booklist #readinglist #read #bookclub

I’ve been savoring this audiobook and just finished it today-reinforces my belief she’s perhaps the greatest American singer/musician of all time. Favorite tidbit: in her later years colleagues would come over to her house to rehearse as a means to lift her spirit—once while rehearsing “A Train” they heard a neighbor’s fire alarm go off. A short while later she was greeted by firemen at her door. It was her own fire alarm and her singing had tripped it, just like those old Memorex commercials, aged 69. #Recommendedreading BECOMING ELLA FITZGERALD by JUDITH TICK. Finished Book # 25 of 2024. A Court of Mist and Fury By Sarah J Maas @sarahjmaas 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Update: Forgot to include spicy rating. I'd say a 🌶🌶🌶.5 on my spicy scale cause it's a bit more than a Hollywood movie, but not so descriptive that it warrants all four 🌶. 🫠 Waaaaaaaaayyyyy! Better than the first book. I like Feyre a little more but she's still a little whiny. Clearly learning more and more about Rhys, love love love him. I knew how somethings were going to end up due to Bookstagram spoilers, but I still enjoyed seeing how it played out. So many twists and turns, expected and unexpected. Maas again giving me emotional whiplash which I should have known from reading the Throne of Glass series. I still hate Tamlin, I don't know why any girls like him. He's clearly a narcissistic butt head that throws a LOT of red flags, never mind the gaslighting. Smh. I also LOVE Mor, Amren, Cassian, Azriel, Alis, Nuala and Cerridwen. The last two I wish had bigger parts because I think they are awesome and underrated. But I understand they are "smaller" characters so...yeah. I hate Ianthe, and am highly disappointed in Lucien right now. Anyway, shocked by several things by the end and like I said, emotional whiplash so we shall see what "A Court of Wings and Ruin" has in store. 📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚📖📚 #acotar #acourtofthornsandroses #acourtofmistandfury #sarahjmaas #sjmaas #sjm #maasverse #rhysand #feyre #acourtofwingsandruin #book25 #recommendedreading #strongfemalecharacters #booklist #bookworm #readinggoals #1010wouldrecommend #bookstagram #booktok #readingaddict #reading #readinglist #reading2024 #readit #read #readtoescape #readtogrow #readmorebooks #readforfun #booksofinstagram

⛲️ Rome, Italy 🍨 —- 🏖️ Translated from Italian, this novella’s setting is a dreamy beach trip on the Italian coast following middle aged Lena dealing with some turbulent personal demons. This story is captivating and it’s twisted but it’s frank and honest. It’s an unsettling psychological insight on what women give up to become mothers. The sunny beach setting perfectly lends to the stream of consciousness memories and reflections. 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard ⏰ This book is set around covid/lockdown so if that isn’t what you want to read about then avoid this book. On another note, I can’t believe that the first lockdown was over 4 years ago! 56 days ago Ciara and Oliver met in a supermarket queue. 35 days ago lockdown hits and with their relationship just starting off, Oliver asks Ciara to move in with him so they don’t have to spend lockdown alone. Today a body is found in the apartment, decomposing and the police have to find out who’s body it is and what happened. I thought I had guessed the twist for this one but no of course I hadn’t. I would make a rubbish detective. It was such a fast paced, thrilling story I raced through it. Axel and Samia are destined to be together, and everyone knows it except Samia. She is determined to create a life outside of the LeFleur name, but what she didn't realize is her father has another inside enemy that will stop at nothing to take the family down…beginning with her. When Axel is assigned the task of protecting Samia, he begins to add enough pressure to break thru the invisible wall of the Ice Princess. In this book, the readers get an update on the other members of the LeFleur family, and some may grip at your heartstrings. My favorite character is the matriarch of the family, and my least favorite is the "other." Once again, @aubreepynn has given her readers something to write home about.

💛 The girl who couldn’t lie 💛 ✏️ @radhikasanghani 🖨️ @usborne_books Today is my turn on this wonderful @kaleidoscopictours Priya Shah lies. A Lot. She pretends everything in her life is perfect, so she doesn’t disappoint anyone….. I absolutely adored this book from start to finish. I saw a lot of my younger self in Priya. Priya is a normal teenage girl, with the normal teenage problems! Trying to fit in her gymnastics training while still doing well at school, fulfilling her parents high expectations and also making time for her friends and crushes! Everything is going well until she puts on her grandmother’s bracelet and cannot take it off, this wouldn’t be a problem if it was a normal bracelent, however this bracelet makes Priya consistently tell the truth….. even if the responses are not that kind to people. The characters are so well constructed. The friendship between Priya, Mei and Sami is wonderful and endearing showing the ups and downs of true friendships. The crush on Dan Zhang (had to use his full name of course!) is very sweet and takes you through the real emotions of a teenage girl! The ending was a slight surprise to me, but a lovely surprise. Easily my favorite book of the year so far. I kept waiting to post about The Coin. I was waiting for the perfect words to find me, to write myself into the perfect description of this book that would convince you to read it. That’ll never come - this is a book that exists as a novel because the breadth of human experience it covers is only possible in the fullness of the form it takes. Here what this book is: It’s subversive, astringent, and funny. It’s horny and heartbreaking. It’s brilliant and consuming. It’s propulsive and unhinged. It’s written in the shape of the outline of a life left behind in P*l*stine, filled in with the shades of New York. The plot is one of those where it’s better if you don’t know anything and just read it. The news cycle is corrupt af and makes it hard to find reliable information about what’s going on in G*za and the world. There are ways to fight against misinformation, for ourselves and for those being targeted in g*nocide, and that involves active engagement. Reading novels by Palestinian authors is an important way around this. The Coin comes out from @catapult on July 9 - I hope you will be preordering/sprinting to your local independent bookstore. “One of the rules of writing that stands throughout time: do not be complacent. Take risks. And most important, listen.
