My friend, have you ever been to Da Nang? Let me tell you, it's an incredible place that I absolutely adore. Nestled along the central coast of Vietnam, this vibrant city has so much to offer. First of all, the beaches in Da Nang are simply stunning. Miles of soft, golden sand stretch as far as the eye can see, met by the clear, turquoise waters of the East Sea. My favorite is My Khe beach - it's the perfect spot to relax under the warm sun, take a refreshing dip in the sea, and feel the gentle ocean breeze on your skin. Trust me, it's pure bliss. But Da Nang is so much more than just beaches. The city itself has a great laid-back vibe that I really connect with. The people are so warm and welcoming, always ready with a friendly smile. And don't even get me started on the food! From fresh seafood to flavorful street eats, my taste buds are in heaven every time I visit. One of the coolest things about Da Nang is the Dragon Bridge. It's this massive, beautifully lit bridge in the shape of a dragon that actually breathes fire on weekend evenings! Seeing it in person is an unforgettable experience. There's also the nearby Marble Mountains, which are a cluster of hills with hidden caves and temples to explore. The views from the top are breathtaking - you can see the whole city stretched out before you. Honestly, I could go on and on about all the amazing things to see and do in Da Nang. But the bottom line is, it's a place that has captured my heart. The perfect mix of natural beauty, culture, history, and modern comforts. I really think you'd love it too! One thing I haven’t spoken about on my weightloss journey is the changes I have seen and noticed in my face and skin. Since loosing weight my wrinkles are becoming more prominent and me no likey! 😂 So my journey to Botox begins… my consultation is complete with @silk_laser_clinics my problem areas identified, an action plan and appointment completed. My problem areas are my forehead, eyes and around my mouth. Obviously these have changed with age but only become worse with weightloss. This year I promised to be more self focused, to become more self confident and to empower myself to love myself that little bit more. I am in a fixer upper era and I’m not afraid to share this journey as when I’m experiencing and living is real life and the joys of my personal weightloss journey. I was almost 3 months postpartum in this picture.. on the outside, I appear happy. I remember I was so excited because she finally went down for her first nap of the day and I was trying out the baby wearing thing. Every time I look at a picture from her first year of life-whether just of her or a selfie with her- I think about how I was feeling during that time. You would think because of the sleep deprivation, I would vaguely remember, but honestly, I don't think I'll ever be able to forget all the feelings felt and the tears from that first year. How much I longed to live closer to my mom and for my partner to not have an on site job. I was going through a transition of self, entering a new level of responsibility, and undergoing so many changes, daily, simultaneously- it was exhausting to keep up with it all. When I think back to this period of time, even though it was hard, I learned an infinite amount about myself and the true power of our mind.. Lessons from my first year of postpartum: ❤️ This too shall pass. ❤️ You are doing your best and some days, your best may appear like you aren't doing anything. It's ok to slow down. ❤️ Don't feel bad about wanting privacy during this transition. It's about you and your baby. ❤️ Make one goal for each day (ie washing your face, brushing your teeth, getting out for a walk) and steadily increase your activity as you find yourself getting stronger and more adjusted. (Amazing advice I received from a friend) ❤️ Go outside and get some sun! 🌞 Even if you're just sitting on your porch for 20 minutes every day. ❤️ Hydrate! ❤️ Meal prep during the last few months of pregnancy.. Make lots of broth.. Have protein filled snacks readily available. This is something worth asking for help with those first few months because it helps SO much when you are juggling life with a newborn. *Everyone's experience is unique but this was a glimpse of mine.* ❤️Mamas, what're some takeaways from your early postpartum days/months? I always struggle with anniversaries of things, and I've just noticed (thanks to good ol' Facebook memories) that it's been three years since I was diagnosed with Bipolar! As you can read in my caption above, I had four years of symptoms before this which really impacted so many things in my life. I'm sharing this more personal post on this account, because everything that went into my debut children's picture book 'Bipolar Blob' was because of this time period. Without the birth of my daughter, I wouldn't have had postpartum psychosis which led to a hospital admission in Nottinghams Mother and Baby mental health unit. This is where I was finally diagnosed with Bipolar. It has really helped me over the last three years to have the correct diagnosis, as it's meant I've had more support and the right mood stabilisers which ultimately have reduced the chances of any major psychosis relapses! I wrote Bipolar Blob for my daughter originally as I noticed there wasn't much out there within children's publishing that explained Bipolar in more simple terms, especially from a Bipolar persons perspective 😊 I'm very proud of how I've been coping lately, despite various stressful times, any relapse signatures that have cropped up for me I have been able to manage and deal with before they escalated. I am no longer scared of relapsing because if I ever do, I feel much more prepared now with the right information, medication and support if I need it!
