3 things to consider when you’re highly stressed, anxious, eager for a change, burnt out, disconnected from what you know you’re supposed to be doing: 1. You are always right on time. Always. It may not feel like it, but you are. You gotta go through this to get to the next place. How do you want to be? How do you want to feel? What matters most to you, these days? How have your priorities changed over recent years? 2. You’re resilient AF. When funky feelings creep up, remember that you have tools in your hands. What do you do when you feel stressed, overwhelmed or lost? What rituals and practices do you have in your life? Are there any rituals and practices you want to add to your life? Are there ways of being you want to let go of or start embodying? 3. You’re not alone. More brilliant, visionary people feel stressed, overwhelmed, stuck and scared are than you’d ever expect. If you feel this way, it may mean you’re ready to make a change. What helps you to feel grounded? What sucks your energy? What are you ready to let go of? What are you ready to say yes to? Taking a risk is scary, but you will make it through. Whether the risk pays off or reaches you, you will come out stronger and more confident than before. Last week I felt my body crying with tension, my emotions dipping, my motivation dwindling, and my thoughts crawling through fog. I was exhausted. In my forties, I began to embrace the risk of doing things afraid. "Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is acting despite fear." Anytime I felt "stuck" I was there because I was AFRAID TO MAKE A MOVE. Paralyzed with fear. If you're younger than me - don't wait so long to choose to commit to doing things afraid and uncertain. Take the risk. There is no lucrative reward without it. If you're my age or more seasoned - it's never too late to choose to think, act, and live differently - better. Either way - it's all in your hands, starting in your mind and heart. Faith cancels out fear. Stepping away to rest, build relationships and trust, and simply be together can be so profound and deeply healing for everyone, including top leadership. I’ve been curating experiences for nearly 20 years and guiding people as a coach and facilitator for 8 years. My zone of magic lives at the divine intersection of event production (celebrity weddings to concerts in NYC to intimate wine tastings and complex fundraisers) and leading ceremonial and sacred group space (nearly 100 group coaching and retreat spaces to officiating “the best wedding ceremony ever”). We all go through seasons in our lives; we simply cannot escape it. No doubt that your timing could be perfect but the universe will often have other plans for you so out in left field that you weren’t prepared for. It truly is not easy to find the blessing in every situation but with time you may look back and see that what you were unknowingly thrust into only made you stronger, better, wiser. As someone who is currently finding herself challenged in ways I didn’t think would happen, I really am practicing the ‘pause’ and trying to reflect and process and learn how to do better, react better, and appreciate the moment for what it is. I’m not saying it easy, and even as a therapist, I am still learning and growing in the human process. We all are.
