✨ DE NERVUS VAGUS ✨. De nervus vagus, oftewel de zwervende zenuw, speelt een cruciale rol in ons lichaam, vooral in relatie tot stress en trauma. In order for us to attract and manifest a new reality, we have to be able to let go of the old, and that means letting go of all the beliefs, behaviors and perspectives that we no longer serve us, in a way or another. This process of course is not instant, rather than it is a journey to walk and not a destintaion. For example, if one has a room that does not look as we would like it to, then he has to realize firs that a change needs to be made, with listing all the aspects that need to be changed, set a plan to do the work, and at last, take the necessary action to make it happen, for nothing comes to reality without taking proper action towards it! Are you constantly anxious? It happens. There is a very high likelihood that most of us experience it as a constant state. And there is more than one reason or factor inducing it. Is this reason correct and significant? Are there packs of hungry wolves lurking in the dark? No, of course not. Of course, “wolves” are different today. But are we in a constant threat of pain and death – that is where I have doubts. We tend to overestimate and exaggerate most of the sources of our anxious states. Let’s see what kinds and how many “wolves” we have from one of the possible perspectives. Let’s divide the page into three columns. The first column is for listing anxious thoughts focused on the past—what I did not do, did not say, did say, did not go, did not check, did not learn—and all their friends. The third column includes worries about various things that have not happened yet (and, quite likely, will not): what if, what will I do when, god forbid, that and similar worries. The middle and second columns will contain worries about current events. Here, we have the most possibilities to act because the reason and object of the anxiety are right before us. Once we group these “wolves” into three packs, they should appear distinct. The first ones look like regrets, the third ones – are like fears, and only the middle ones look more like natural anxiety. Of course, we can think about what can be done in the side column “wolves”. It might be a good idea to prepare for future worries – as much as possible; let’s admit, it is impossible to prepare for everything. The middle group is worth studying more closely and splitting again – into things we can and cannot change. For the first ones, we need a plan because once we launch into action, anxiety seems to subside. For the second one, we need a cold, rational mind and adopt the attitude that nothing can be done. On May 10, 2014, tears of joy streamed down my face as I walked across the stage to receive my degree from Albany State University, a place that holds a special corner in my heart. This prestigious historically black college in the state of Georgia molded me, shaped me, and transformed me into the professional I am today. The knowledge and opportunities that ASU provided me are priceless, and I will forever be grateful for the education I received there.
