Quando il giorno dopo la dichiararono ufficialmente morta, la prima cosa che pensai fu che non le avevo ricordato quanto le volessi bene finché poteva ancora sentirmi e rispondermi coscientemente: benché nel profondo sapessi (e sappia tutt'ora) che non c'era bisogno che glielo ripetessi, stupidamente avevo rimandato pensando che ci sarebbe stato un poi, un altro momento, un altro messaggio o un'alta chiamata, ma sbagliavo. La vita è imprevedibile e controllarla è un'illusione: credere di avere tempo, di poter rimandare e di avere altre milioni di occasioni per fare una cosa è un grave errore. La vita è qui, adesso, in questo preciso momento mentre noi stiamo già pensando a domani; è adesso, mentre noi stiamo aspettando l'occasione giusta, il corpo perfetto, la pigrizia che passi, gli astri che si allineano ed il coraggio che prenda il sopravvento su di noi. Credere di essere imbattibili e di avere ancora domani ci fa perdere il focus: domani diventa oggi e noi non saremo comunque pronti. Quindi, se c'è qualcosa che tutta questa storia mi ha insegnato è che è davvero tutto qui, adesso, in questo istante.
