Looking at these 2 photos side by side had been a tremendous help for my mind 🧠 I've been kind of rough on myself lately for being back in the 180s after losing my regain. But there are literally only 10 pounds difference between these 2 photos. Yet looking at my face and my waistline, it looks like so much more 🤯 This is how I know I'm doing the right thing. I've been running a decent amount and added in 2 strength training classes every week since February. I need to take my own advice and trust the process. This number on the scale is exactly that... just a number! I still fit in the same clothes and my body is capable of doing things I never imagined possible before 🤩 Funny thing is when I put the reflector vest on for the picture on the right, I had to tighten it up. And I thought, oh it must have loosened up while being moved around over the last 2 years. After coming home from an exhausting long weekend away, the best thing I did for myself was to prepare a batch of pulled chicken breast. I'm using this chicken to create protein packed lunches throughout the week. Yesterday's quesadilla was super yummy 😋 Today I made a Tuscan chicken grilled cheese. I lightly buttered 2 slices of bread and split 1/3 cup of part skim mozzarella cheese between the 2 open faced slices. Then I warmed up some chicken breast with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic powder and Italian seasoning and topped one half of the cheese bread. Closed it up and cooked until golden on both sides 🥪 This sandwich was 💣 It was filling and helped me reach my protein goal for the day without putting my over my calorie budget (not that I count calories, but I'm mindful). I could have skipped the butter and used pan spray. What I eat in a day… protein chai for breakfast, 2 roast beef and cheddar sliders and some carrots with dip for lunch, palm heart pasta with shrimp and broccoli alfredo was dinner and some jerky and almonds for a snack. This week’s grocery shop. Hubs is smoking the chicken thighs with bbq rub. We’ll have them with salad and watermelon this week. Jalapeño popper cheeseburger bites and chicken sausages are also on the dinner menu. Homemade lunchables and leftovers for lunches. Fresh cherries are my absolute favorite. Can’t think of a better way to spend Mother’s Day. Hubs and I took the kayaks out for the first time this season. We saw tons of turtles, fish, baby geese, deer and even a beaver! Then we shared a smash burger. Got in a gym session with my girl, visited with my mom, took a walk in the woods with the fur kids and my youngest helped make dinner. 💜
5/12/24 - Sunday workout @orangetheoryelkgrove complete. I started off my workout with an InBody Scan. I’ve been taking them every four weeks since the TC ended. When I had to take about a week and some days off from training I lost muscle mass. However, look at that comeback! Down 2% body fat (3.1 lbs) and 4.2 lbs gained in muscle mass which is the weight I gained overall! I am absolutely proud of this scan and this is just the beginning. Today’s 2g class was great! Happy Mama’s Day! My daughter, Caleigh or Doodles if you know her, is the reason why I had VSG surgery. Being overweight was a generational pass down in my family, especially for the women. I knew that if I didn’t break this, she may be destined to feel all the trauma, shame, embarrassment, and failure I did simply because of the size of my former body. I needed this surgery for ME, but more importantly, for HER. I didn’t want her to struggle with the same body images, dysmorphia, & disordered eating. What mama would? So I was confident when I was wheeled into the OR. I knew this was life saving for both of us. And I haven’t looked back since. I’d love to say this was a “sacrifice” I made for Cal, but it’s not. It’s only ever been a benefit for me, but also my family. I Love Mom 5k is a wrap 👌🏻 We both contemplated not doing this race today. I'm coming off of a week of being sick, I didn't fuel properly yesterday, and the weather was crap. Hubby is nursing a knee/hamstring injury and worked until close last night. But you know what? We did it anyway! We decided not to overdo it but to still show up for ourselves. We leave Thursday for Ragnar New England with @rowandjennifer and @ame_gee along with a van full of other friends. Running today made the most sense to continue to prepare to murder ourselves in precisely 5 days 😂 There were a LOT of women in this race, so I didn't even come close to placing in anything. Hubby managed to take 1st in his age group, even with a not so great time for him. What a difference a month makes! . Well, 3 weeks 😅. I sat yesterday looking at how much smaller my knees were. Couldn't believe it! I wanted to see the difference but then remembered I had taken a photo of my pyjama bottoms for my best mate to see. Que comparison picture 😊 I wish I had one from before surgery, but this will more than do to see what is happening to my body right now. I know this isnt the end result but it is so encouraging to see. I have seen a great increase in the amount I can do now compared to before surgery. My arthritis doesn't hurt as much as it did before, and I am able to stand/walk a lot longer and further than I have been able to in the last few years! This is massive for me!
