Repping some new @scottrunning @scottsportsuk kit kindly sorted by @acceleraterunningco thankyou 😊, but sadly still not repping any running shoes yet...upper back problems still causing me pain when running, to the point were I have to stop. So it's still more wattbike action. The Lap - Windermere ⛰️ 47 Miles, 9000ft Elevation gain, furthest I've ever ran 🏃♂️ . The aim was to just get around with no injuries as every time I've done a race of that distance, I get injured 😬 . Back on the Roads! Wow! what a good start to the year... Both Paddy and Chris raced yesterday, over 10k. Their first on the roads this year. Both have worked hard over the winter, consistently. A lengthy strength block, with reduced run volume. Yet always working on movement and technique. Consistency, hard work and focus. Plus, plenty of laughs - always. First race back, who knows what's gonna happen? Paddy, well, hasn't seen a PB since 2018. He did yesterday, breaking 36 minutes for the first time, as a V40 too. Chris, oh so close to last years PB. 5th overall, strong throughout. Cracking effort gents!! For me as coach, it's great to hear the positives from these guys. To hear them focus on what well as opposed to what might have been. To see they prepared themselves for the joy of racing, to focus on their race day prep and themselves as opposed to what they might do, time wise. Definitely easy does it today 🙂 Start of the week (and the new year) was a nice easy 50 min recovery run @pw.performancecoaching wasn't sure my legs were going to play today but a quick foam roll and stretch out cured that problem. All of the above.......I've always struggled in the heat and weeks of quality training counted for nothing in the 30° heat 🥵 . 15 miles and cruising inside the top 20 then my body succumb to the heat. This weekend saw the English schools track and field championships take place. The warm weather didn't stop Team Accelerate Runner and staff member Hugh from getting a new PB. Hugh Travelled up to the Manchester Regional Arena to compete in the English Schools 3K and raced to a new PB knocking 7 seconds off and got a time of 8 minutes 34 seconds, that's an average of 2:51 per KM. So so pleased for these two. Today they ran the Yorkshire Fell Running Championships. The Team Accelerate athletes ran amazingly. Izzy-Mai took the honours in the U15 girls whilst Hugh ran into second place in the U19s. Hugh was also third overall in the race. Both are part of the Hot-Flamingos training group, training together three times a week. Not as easy as it looks. Keep those hips still! Strength with movement. It's really effective on so many levels. Stability, power transfer and for bracing the core. No point trying to run fast if you wobble, over rotate or have pelvic instability. It's one thing to be able to lift and push weight up and down, yet we humans move in all directions. When the going gets tough, you probably have run too hard for a training session. Early morning specified 5km time trial.... progressively quickly yet only achieving race efforts on the last 500mts or so. The first 2.5km was run at 10km pace, then we took it from there. The outcome was fast, quick for both without the strain gauge going off the scale.
