You ever get to the end of the day and just think to yourself, ‘wow, I did crap today?’ Like you look back and all you can think of is the stuff you didn’t do, the ways you parented wrong, the moments you weren’t present, and the things you said that were way unnecessary and unhelpful. And you think of what you should have said to your child, how better it would have been if you didn’t shout, you didn’t walk away, you didn’t ignore them, you didn’t try to stop the argument by doing the wrong thing and instead should have done it more gently and been more kind. . Why?! Why do I find myself looking at my sleeping children feeling bad? Like all the time. Ok, I shouldn’t ask why. I mean, clearly I need to take heed of this and try to do better, but I do! Every day I wake up (and go to bed) telling myself I’ll do it better, I won’t get stressed out when they throw food, hit their sibling, slam the door; how I’ll go down to their level and talk about the important things in life and ignore the mess they create as I’m hoovering the floor, or searching for the hundredth puzzle piece I need to find because they’ve been tipped out upside down again. . Tell me I’m not alone?! That it’s normal to kiss them and love them so much and feel terrible you didn’t feel that just an hour before bedtime. . It’s funny how in one day you can feel so strung out and yet such adoration of exactly the same little things ❤️ . So for every mama out there telling herself off for not being quite good enough today, and regretting that shriek or that eye roll or that ‘just a bit too loud’ roar, just know that you are. Best friends... Yesterday my middle kid said he was missing his best friend and then this one (the baby) said something that shook my heart..... he said “ I don’t have any friends” in a sad little voice !! My heart broke, that my sweet, fun, adventurous baby boy at 4 years old feels like he has no friends. No matter your views on the world, this is wrong! This is time my baby won’t get back going to preschool, swim lessons, soccer, play dates ... near non existent for the past 14 months to make him feel like he has no friends. Here and there outside at the playground is NOT enough to build friendships. My heart was heavy hearing that and all that I could think about as he had his little arms around me for a quad ride. Life is hard right now especially as a child. I am grateful we have each other through all this and I will be his best friend. I promise buddy one day someone will be so lucky to call you their best friend.

Today my mood was off. The hard realization that my son is different than all the other little kids his age, it hit me hard. As I’m scheduling appointments for him to be evaluated and coming up with plans to help him and our little family cope, I just want to hold him tight and never let go.
